Ch 21: On The Mend

Time came and went. Things were relatively tame between the two faunus. Jin would spend more time resting into Spadix as the owl read, enjoying the feel of the talons lightly against her scalp as Spadix ran them back and forth through her hair sweetly while reading. The other two teammates' routines remained generally the same. With Jin hardly ever using her own bed anymore, Sterling took to using it, saving himself from constantly climbing up and down to a top bunk on weekdays when training had him fairly worn out.

On the weekends, Ruby would come by and Sterling would leave to spend time with his family. Indi would spend most of that time with the couple or on her own, working on her database of wide information while buried in her EDM music, vastly ignoring the faunus duo. When Indi would go off on her own time, Jin would not miss a beat to attempt to be closer to her lover.

For the most part, Jin found herself rather oddly satisfied with only getting as far as light teasing or making out with the owl, not getting far enough to make love to her faunus. Spadix had made better efforts at being more aware of how she expressed her go or no go whims. This weekend, the last one of September, was no different.

As Indi had left for an evening in the library, needing better network speeds for her updates to her manifest, Jin rolled her head from Spadix's lap, glancing up at Spadix with lustful eyes, sliding her body up between the owl and her book. A surprised yelp leaving Spadix's lips as Jin's face came into view, "Jin… what are you up to?"

The dragon grinned mischievously, lacing her hand up and around her lover's neck to her cheek, pulling her face closer, "Mmm nothing really, just kissing your soft lips."

She watched the pink tint on the owl's cheeks appear that always excited her as she leaned in, pressing her lips to her lover's sweetly. As the owl sighed gently, Jin reached out with her other hand, sliding it along the smooth exposed skin of her bare thigh up to her shorts, slipping under the fabric. When their lips parted, her teeth nibbled down her lover's neck listening to her breathing quicken. Her hand inched further up her shorts until Spadix gently grabbed it, pulling her hand free of her clothing and lacing her finger's together with her own, "I love you too."

Jin smiled and nodded, nuzzling her neck. Spadix was still learning what to say, but for now redirecting Jin with loving words was more than fine for the dragon. It was much better than feeling like she was drowning the girl. Jin leaned back, pulling Spadix into her lap, letting the owl settle her legs around her waist, giving her the reins, "You control where this goes Little Bird."

Spadix smiled at Jin, gently running her talons through her hair and watching the dragon sigh softly, content. She leaned close, kissing her as she pressed into her, the kiss deep and intimate, tongues engaged together, Jin's hands holding the small of her back close. Their hands gently massaged and explored each other's upper halves and muscles, kisses lining mouths, necks, shoulders. Their breaths heavy but otherwise nothing else occurred.

While Jin felt peak arousal, she was intimately satisfied. Happy to simply be able to share closeness with Spadix more often to any degrees that weren't constantly being shoved away. She was learning the in-betweens of intimate romance that she never really had engaged in. Before Spadix, she had never been denied any attempts with anyone so she had always just gone all the way with people and never bothered to discover anything in between could be satisfying.

These moments now however, while they were unbearably teasing at times, she found them incredibly fulfilling and heart warming. Spadix was often able to be much more receptive and cuddly now as well, clearly also happy with such in-betweens that she didn't know existed. The owl found this pace much less stressful which made her much more open to other increased passions from time to time. However, she was still not big on sex in general most of the time but Jin was finding this so much easier to deal with now.

Jin groaned softly, both of them winding down, "Sometime soon, I will either need time alone or you, I'm so pent up for you it is unreal."

Spadix just smiled, kissing her nose as she cuddled into the dragon's warmth, "Patience, it'll happen when it happens."

Jin smirked, stroking her back lovingly and watching her eyes close as her scroll went off.

She reached, barely grabbing it without disturbing her resting faunus, the message from her mother. She raised a brow, opening it, 'My office. Now.'

She felt her blood run cold, her body tense and rigid. Spadix blinked and glanced up at her, "What's wrong?"

Jin kissed her head and gently shifted her off, "Sorry but… I have to go… Mother wants to see me. And it seems it has to be this very moment."

Spadix bit a talon, watching Jin, "Please, try to stay calm."

Jin threw on her shoes and was about to head out when Spadix tossed a school hoodie at her, "You might want to hide those marks I left on your shoulder."

Jin chuckled nervously and zipped on the hoodie, waving before heading off towards Yang's office. She was honestly surprised. It wasn't really like her mother to be in on a weekend. The halls felt small with how her nerves were eating at her as she walked to the office, stressed about what this was about.

Standing in front of the dark oak doors, a sigh left her lips and she reached up, hardening her resolve and knocking firmly. A voice from behind the door called out, "Yea? Come in."

The dragon opened the door and stepped inside, "You wanted to see me?"

Yang looked up, buried in paperwork of student evaluations. Since her classroom was more of a physical class, most of the exams were observation based and required Yang to do all the litany of paperwork to be turned in for grading.

"Yea, I did. Close the door and sit down," her mother said sternly, not looking up.

The faunus frowned, obeying, sitting across from the desk that was a mess of papers and empty coffee cups. Yang settled the chaos enough to easily see everything across from her, watching her daughter with her own firm expression. The air tense between them as neither was willing to bend to the other.

"Two things Jin," Yang started, holding up two fingers, lowering them as she went over each item, "One, you WILL be coming home first thing with me for your heat. Your Mom and I discussed it but if you aren't happy about it, be mad at her. She was more insistent than I was. Two, your girlfriend's birthday is coming up, what did you want to do for it? Do you need any help with Lien?"

Jin growled at Yang about her first point. She really thought it would be fine but she let it go, figuring her mom knew better like always. Still, she felt disappointed like her family was taking an opportunity away from her or judging her in some way. At the second point, she was a bit surprised. She hadn't considered she would have the option, " Well I thought I wouldn't have a choice like that so I just was planning to try to figure out how to make it a good day for her with what I could."

Yang smirked, leaning to a drawer in her desk, "Nah. That's not going to work. Here."

She sat back up, handing over a large amount of Lien that had been being stocked away should something like this ever come about for her children, "go into town, get her something she will love. She loves to read right? Get her a book she likes or wants that she doesn't have yet. Plan something. Think about what she likes and the environment she likes. She's shy, so don't plan to take her anywhere loud or crowded. Find a place with food she likes that's quiet and simple. Make sure though to leave space for her tradition with her friend or you will mess up her whole day. Take her after. Sweep her off her feet. And if she wants to, enjoy time with her alone after. Your Mom and I talk. I know what was going on. I know you are like my shadow for better or worse. But remember it's her special day. So let what happens happen and if it doesn't that's ok too. She sets the pace yea?"

Jin was staring at her mother quietly, fidgeting with the Lien in her hands, "Mother…"

Yang smiled, glancing out the window, "There's still plenty of daylight. You want a ride into town? I know you hate the bike but I can give you a ride and help you get your reservations and stuff. If you need more Lien I can help you out."

Jin looked down at the money in her hands, nodding lightly. Yang got up and stretched, grabbing her duster, "I could really use a break anyway. Plus, this is something I'm really good at. I'd love to show you the ropes, spend some time with you."

Jin nodded, "ok…"

The two headed into town. Jin pulled out her scroll, letting Spadix know she would be a while and not to worry. As she and Yang drove into town, she tried to cool down her usual automatic temper that came so easily around Yang, wanting to give her mother a chance. Thinking about when she was little, following Yang everywhere. As they walked around town, telling her mother about what her owl loves and getting help finding the best spots, she remembered how much she looked up to her mother as a child, wondering how she could have forgotten after all this time.

By the evening, they had gotten the restaurant settled, a place with the best options of seared and flavorful chicken entrees that was quiet, simple and dimly lit with candlelight and Jin had found the next book that had just released to Spadix's favorite series that she knew the owl had been desperate for, raving for when the libraries might finally get a copy.

Yang grabbed her bike, handing a helmet to Jin, looking at her daughter curiously when she didn't take it, "What's up kiddo?"

Jin stared at the bike, "Mother… Do you remember when I was really little and I was always sick?"

Yang held the helmet, watching her carefully, "how could I forget? Your Mom and I spent every moment with you always wondering if it was the last memory we would make."

Jin shifted, "I used to follow you everywhere… and scream if you left me alone… I loved Mom but… if you were gone for too long I would cry until you came back… I'd always cling to you… and Mom would fuss at you for playing rough with me but it was the most fun I'd have…"

Yang sighed, "Yea… you used to make your Mom so upset because you were so attached to me over her sometimes. But she loved how much you loved me too. It all kinda changed though once you got better and the twins were born and… well I thought you forgot all about that."

Jin bit her lip, "I had… until you took me out today and suddenly I remembered. I don't remember why it stopped but, I remember that you were everything to me back then. I'm sorry things changed… "

Yang messed with the helmet a moment, as if there was something she wasn't saying. Jin felt a hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry about it kiddo. What matters is that you are trying now. And so am I. And honestly, it meant everything to your Mom that you became so close to her. She had to go through so much to make sure you survived. So it worked out. Now, let's get you back before your faunus gets scared I killed you."

Jin nodded, putting the helmet on and getting onto the bike with her mother, hugging close, resting her eyes on the ride back. The day couldn't have been better. When they got back, Yang parked the bike and pulled the dragon into a warm hug, Jin hugging her back, "Thanks Mother."

Yang just ruffled her hair and walked off back to her office. Jin returned to the dorm, Spadix jumping her as she entered, checking her for any burns or bruises, "Are you ok?! What happened?"

Jin laughed and grabbed her shoulders, "Everything is fine. She just wanted to talk and then go for a ride. I'm ok. I promise."

When Spadix calmed and returned to her bunk, Jin slipped out of her hoodie, hiding the gift in it and sliding it under her bed for now. Indi was passed out in her bunk. Settling into the owl's bunk for sleep, Jin messaged Blake, 'Went for a ride with mother today.'

'Yea? Did you two have a good time?'

'We did. I remembered when I was little… I just wish I knew why I forgot and why I stopped…'

There was a long silence before Jin got a response again, 'She loves you. We love you. I'm glad to see you two are mending.'

Jin would've found the delay odd if not for the fact she just assumed by the time that her mom was putting kids to bed, 'Thanks Mom. Love you. goodnight.'

'Goodnight Jin.'
