It's the first anniversary of Logan's death. Roman can't believe it's been a full year since he last spoke to his father, last got yelled at by him. Even longer since he last got hit by him. He looks in the bathroom mirror and absently traces the scar on his forehead, the one that Kendall looks guilty every time he sees.

Connor has arranged for all four siblings to go out to dinner tonight, to share memories of their father and make it a happy occasion. "You can come too if you want," Roman suggests to Gerri, early in the day while he's getting dressed. Gerri is applying make-up at the dresser. "Con and the others would like that."

"No," says Gerri, a little too quickly. "I wouldn't want to intrude."

"You mean, you don't have anything good to say about Dad?" Roman is in the mood for a fight, for some reason. Gerri just raises an eyebrow, which infuriates him more. "You must have some good memories of him. You worked for him, with him, for thirty years."

"Sure. There was the time Lester put his hand up my skirt and your father agreed to transfer him to Cruises, after a lot of persuasion of course. Look how well that worked out. And then there was the time he—"

"Don't, okay?" Roman cuts her off. "Not today."

"Sorry." Gerri doesn't sound that sorry.

"I know you hated him, but I fucking loved him, okay?" Roman sits down on the bed, his tie in his hands.

"I didn't hate him." Gerri softens as she gets up and walks over to sit down beside him, reaching out to brush Roman's face. "I even, sort of, loved him. In a way."

"Did anything ever happen? Between you two?" Roman asks. "Connor thought maybe it did…"

"No." She shakes her head. "I was with Baird by the time he split from your mother… I know he had his affairs," she adds. "But I don't think I was his type."

"He preferred Sally Anne," Roman remembers.

"Right, with the harp." Gerri smiles. "Can you imagine him buying me a musical instrument?" Roman smiles in spite of himself and she leans in to kiss him on the lips.

"I might go to the mausoleum," he says. "I know he's not really there but…"

"I can come with you," she offers. "I don't have to work until later."

He nods. "I'd like that."
