Chapter 5: The Rules from the Units

Kold's POV

Today is the day to start my official training, and I am in luck because it is the weekend so no class and no assignments to finish or do, it is a lucky day to start training at getting the hang of what my quirk can do.

I decided to start off with the Oracle Think Tank deck, 'okay let's start off slow and steady… I just need to know if I am going on the right road or not' I thought thinking that it will be alright in the end.

I draw Lozenge Magus from the deck and, closed my eyes, imagining her on the planet Cray to answer my call. "Head my call, Lozenge Magus!" I didn't know what happened but I just knew that I may have done it.

I slowly opened my eyes, to see if I had done it successfully or not, but what I saw in front of me was nothing at all. 'Huh… I thought I did it the right way' I tried to look around and see if there was something that changed from our backyard. Nothing I found has remotely changed until I took a step at my side and something squishy is what I felt.

I tried once more, not looking at what I stepped on and just trying to figure it out through my sense of touch. "One more step and I will send you back to Cray you… idiot!" I heard a girly voice from beneath my feet.

This was the time I looked down to see the unit I had summoned was lying beneath my foot facing the ground, and looking like it hurt a lot from my earlier steps. "I am so sorry!" I said stumbling back removing my foot from her back immediately.

"That really hurts… and you just summoned me face planting at the ground," she said standing up, well if you count hovering above the ground as standing then she is standing. "I know this is your first time, summoning an actual unit but you could at least treat me with decency!" she grumbled pouting her lips cutely and crossing her arms in her gifted chest.

"Okay… alright… I got it. Sheesh, you just said I am new to all this, why not give me some slack!" I said standing up and dusting myself from the dirt that got stuck at my buttocks.

"Yeah, I should… but when you stepped on me that was going overboard you idiot!" she yelled once again flying in my face closely and she looks to be glaring.

"Okay! Got it. Sorry…" I said looking away from her face while shoving her away from my personal space bubble. 'I guess that was the only thing it needed to be done, how anti-climactic…' I thought, but I guess summoning quirk is really not that hard.

"Okay, glad that you summoned me first rather than someone who is much stronger than me, or much worse a grade 3 unit. Those guys are pretty scary, especially the Kagero clan" she said shivering from the thought.

I kind of understand her, last time I summoned Overlord it kind of gave me the chills and the Goosebumps at the same time, it was like he didn't want to be summoned but he doesn't have a choice just to respond to the call.

"Okay listen up, these are the rules that we Oracle Think Tanks clan had decided you should follow to summon us efficiently and effectively!" she said and this made me confuse, how can she demand things like this, I mean her clan for that matter.

'Huh… I thought summons cannot refuse their master's orders' I thought and this may not be an appropriate time to ask.

"I know what you are thinking, but you are terribly wrong. We units might not be able to refuse the call, but it all depends on us if we follow you or not" she said sticking her tongue out at me.

"Okay… so, I'm just going to summon you and hope that everyone will eventually follow what I say?" I asked because this kind of power might be OP, but it is quite flawed.

"That's for you to figure out, but a hint thought. A vanguard leads the charge" she said looking pretty serious.

"Okay… noted" I replied, but actually I don't really know what she meant by that.

"Good, this is the general rule that you should follow in summoning us:

1. You should not summon us to become a convenience, we are units built for battle and support, so only use us for battle and not anything else but there are some exceptions if you get close with the units you summons.

2. Remember to summon at least 1 or 3 of us a day, so that we can still be alive and well.

3. Use triggers wisely because you can only use 8 triggers in a day, not including heal triggers, you can only use it once a day and it cannot be permitted to be used again. Do mind that upon using the trigger of a unit it could only be used once and if you want to use the same trigger again, then use a different unit.

4. Be cautious in summoning the units, because they are alive too.

That's about it for the general rules that the Grade 3's had said to me as of the moment" she said.

"Can I ask a question?" I asked raising my hand for emphasis like in a classroom, with students who is clearly paying attention at someone talking at the front.

"Go ahead"

"How come, I need to summon at least 1 or 3 of you a day?" that general rule boggled me because how come I need to summon them, don't I have a say in this. "And what do you mean about the last rule…"

"That is because… you need to train your body to handle summoning us…" she said looking like she's talking someone in her head. "and for other reasons that you should not know, for now, that is the end of the questioning," she said concluding the talk while making an X with her arms.

"Now for the rules that will apply to the oracle think tank Clan:

1. We are units full of seer and prophets, meaning we want to be able to foresee the battle, so don't summon us if you don't have a clear plan in mind, but you can summon us if you need advice in strategizing.

2. Do not summon, any units that are above Grade 2 if the situation is not dire enough, because they are busy running the clan for them to fight battles that could be fought by lower grade units.

3. We oracle think tanks, some of us have the ability to see the future, do not use it for personal gain, but you may use it in battle as you like.

4. Be someone who is calm, wise, and rational. Amaterasu has no need for a Vanguard who cannot be competent and independent.

These are the 4 rules that you must follow to use the Oracle Think Tank Clan" Lozenge said finishing her talk and I must say… they have a pretty demanding policy, but no matter what I must abide by it. This is my quirk now, so I better live with it, and also because my mother is at stake here, there is no room for any error or mistakes.

"Okay got it, and are the other clans also this hectic and strict when it comes to policies?" I asked out of curiosity if there have one as demanding as this… I don't really know if I can handle it. I thought groaning at that thought.

"Well… I don't really know because it is a clan's policy and as you can clearly see I am already part of the Oracles, so there is no need for me to butt in the decisions or planning of other clans" she answered with sass in her voice.

"I couldn't have guessed… I mean I thought you were being in another world living peacefully, so I just assumed that you are all at peace with one another?"

"That's where you're incorrect mister! We might be peaceful beings but we all have our disputes once, in a while, and besides, we clans have secrets of our own and we are often possessive over it" she said crossing her arms in her chest and looking pouty with her lips pursed.

"Fine… got it…" I agreed to their proposition and decided to summon another unit from another clan, and I think I will go with Royal Paladin next.

"Oh you goanna summon another unit!" she asked and I just ignored her, pretending like I didn't even hear her. "And… you're ignoring me…" she said pouting her lips.

"Call…"-"

"Oh, if you want-summon Elaine will you!" Lozenge screamed at it made me lose my concentration.

I turned my head to the left and gave her a death glare that could kill her within minutes… if that were even possible.

"I was just suggesting… besides she is someone calm" she explained shrugging her shoulders like it was nothing, that she broke my concentration in the middle of summoning.

I reluctantly followed what she said, and actually changed the card I was already holding into the healing unit called Elaine. "Call… The Ygdrasil Maiden Elaine" I chanted now throwing the card about 10 meters away from me.

Green glowing light started to appear and it transformed into a humanoid shape in white silhouette, then slowly turning into an appearance of an elf with green hair, dress, and eyes and is also levitating above the ground. "See… I told you that she will be calm…" I ignored the other healer's interjection and focused all my attention on the unit I just called.

"Hello dear summoner" she greeted and I was taken aback by how she addressed me, is it even that necessary to address like that? And before I forget I pinched Lozenge at the side because I hear her snickering at what Elaine had said.

"Please… just call me Kold that would be alright," I said trying to make things less awkward with her arrival.

"No can do dear summoner, you are to be respected according to our leader…" she replied which made me very uncomfortable, 'and who is this leader she's talking about?'

"… If that's what you say…" I answered with hesitation in my voice; I mean who is in their right mind to ask their subordinates to call someone a summoner, I am just glad it is not Master or Mister.

"So… Lozenge said that all the clans have rules for me to follow in summoning, is there any restriction upon summoning the Royal Paladin Clan?" I asked, and it made Elaine think.

"If I remember correctly… they say that whenever you summoned us, you need to

1. Prioritize summoning allies rather than making one of us fights alone, we are a clan who specializes in "Power from allies". We are a clan that utilizes our teammate's abilities and covers each one of our weaknesses.

2. Some of the clan members are ranging from scientists, dragons, and gods, but it does not mean that they are powerful on their own. They strictly spoke that they need at least 3 units out if you want to summon any one of the Grade 3's in the clan.

3. Most importantly, in summoning a grade 3 unit, you should prove to them that you are worthy to fight alongside them. "

'Okay… I noticed that they really need someone of a specific type of leader, are they being warry of me or testing me? Well… in any case, I just need to be worthy of them to be summoned' I thought but in close relation, this is kind of a video game, that I need to level up in order to summon a better type and stronger type of cards.

"That is kind of demanding…" I mumbled while scratching my cheek in embarrassment. But the surprising thing is that she kept talking with a serious face all throughout it. 'Does she have any expression on her face other than the serious face?'

"Is there any more questions in your mind dear summoner?" Elaine asked with the same face she has all the time when she arrived.

"No none of the moment but I am curious as to why there is a need for me to be worthy of summoning, the Grade 3 cards?" I said without realizing that there are 2 units out that can hear me.

"… We don't really have an answer to that…" both of them said, and I looked back in surprise. 'Why are they even here now…? I thought they left after some minutes' I thought not really knowing how they are still summoned after 30 minutes or so have passed. The most interesting thing is that I am not in any pain or sort, but I can't deny that I am getting tired slowly.

I clenched my fist near my face, testing to see if my vision is still clear and nothing major has happened while summoning both of them. 'I never really thought of what the backlash of my quirk really is, but I know it takes a toll in my body when summoning'

All I know about my quirk is that I can summon units from the planet Cray to fight on my behalf, but according to my test earlier while summoning those two units I figured out two things.

1. Is that, I know I can summon units from different clans to help me.

2. Is that, whenever I summon some unit it takes a toll on my body, it depletes my stamina, I think, and I get tired easily. But I still don't know if the higher the grade of a unit the more I get depleted of energy."

More importantly, I need to train more which means I will take Lozenge advice to summon at least 1 to 3 units every day, this way my body will gradually adapt to the change of energy consumption and maybe even develop a new way of handling it rather than resting and eating something to replenish the used energy.

"I guess it's down to the last clan that I need to talk with and that would be the Kagero clan, which is said to be the ferocious clan of dragon and dragon rider's alike, but I hope they cooperate," I said while rubbing my head in frustration. I don't really know what I should do if I get another handful unit.

"Do any of you have any suggestion as to who I summon or I just choose at random?" I asked the two units who are now hovering at each other's throats like bees, but the difference is that Lozenge is only doing the talking, and Elaine seemed to be ignoring her while observing my movement.

"I say choose anyone, they are still units who prided themselves of being strong-willed and strong… pride," Lozenge said annoyed while crossing her arms in front of her chest.

"She has a point, they are a clan who prided themselves of their individual strength, the opposite of Royal Paladin, also they specialize in destroying enemy units with just their abilities alone," Elaine said calmly while nodding her head like agreeing with her thought.

"They don't sound really friendly…" I mumbled worriedly, for the reason that they are prideful meaning that they are also powerful. They need actions to back their word that is what I learned throughout my life, without it you're all just talk. Besides, it is one of the top clans of the game so there is no need to question their strength.

'ughhh…' I never really thought that dealing with girls is going to be this hard. I looked over at the cards in my hand and just chose a random card, but actually, I already have something in my mind. But I don't really know if it is a good idea to summon her 'well… there is no better opportunity than the present'

"Here goes nothing… I call, Dragon Dancer Monica!" I said tossing the card to the ground, and waiting for her to appear just like the other two units.

"Haaaahh…" we heard a moan from the ground and a woman with a voluptuous body that rival the other two units. "Oh… I was summoned by our dear Vanguard… what a privilege" she said moaning every single word.

'Okay… her personality is very different than what I thought' I said to myself, for the reason that I thought she was the barbaric type of unit not the… sexy type. "I am glad to meet you Dragon Dancer Monica," I said politely disregarding my earlier thought about her.

"The polite type… I like it very much…" she said moaning while doing sexy poses for me on the ground. 'Okay, this is just plain awkward… I am not a bit attracted by it at all' I thought seriously at her.

"Please… I don't like it when you talk and act that way" I said to her directly and I saw that her eyes became much fiercer.

"Okay, if you say so… if you want me to be serious about this, then definitely I will oblige to your wishes," she said and changed her personality in a 180. "I am guessing that you want to learn what the Kagero clan's rules and restrictions upon summoning us?" she asked and she hit it right on the money. "But I don't tell anything for free… if you consider giving me a kiss then…"

"That is out of the picture…" I said sternly, I haven't kissed anyone in my life and I am not losing my first kiss to some unit who is… persistent and passionate about the pleasures… to put it lightly.

"I was just hoping for a smack too…puh," she said pouting her lips while looking gloomy at my refusal. "Anyway… there are only 2 rules set by our clan leader

1. You can summon anyone at any time, for the reason that we are units who love to battle so we are proud to be summoned anywhere and any fight we get. Just be sure that it is a fight or they are out immediately.

2. The higher grades want you to get stronger immediately because they want to be summoned more frequently, but the leader which is Overlord, is only be summoned in a dire situation, he is not some unit that can be summoned all the time like the others."

"Okay that is much lighter… and I am grateful for the offer about summoning your clan members, and I will count on you guys on any fights I have in the future," I said smiling at this thought, and through this, I discover another sight I am not going to forget anytime soon.

"Ughhh... Your smile is just to die for" Monica had said once again, but this time she is moaning in delight. "If I can just keep you to myself and just go on rounds… over and over… again…" she said pointing at me seductively, like pressuring me to do something to her and she is also flaunting her huge assets at me.

"Okay, this is enough for today… I retire Lozenge Magus, Ygdrasil Maiden Elaine, and Dragon Dancer Monica from the field" I said in both frustration and anger, while a recurring headache is getting to me. 'I really don't get girls… and that includes units too' I sighed in frustration while rubbing my head from the headache they are causing me right now.
