I eat fruit cocktail from a can for breakfast. I wish a drone would show up with something warm. But at this stage, sponsor gifts are very expensive. I'm grateful for what I've been given.

I'm restless, so I walk around carefully. The humidity and the smell from the floodwaters make me feel filthy. I despise this Arena, it's humid and has snakes and spiders. But at least we've been given access to clean water. Which starts falling down the interior, as usual.

I crouch down, and crawl towards a bush overlooking the interior, intending to fill a bottle. A commotion catches my eye, to the left. Someone is running, two levels down. I crawl into the bush for camouflage.

What I see terrifies me. A girl is struggling with two boys, near the edge. They're trying to pull off her clothes. One of her feet is bare and she's twisting around, trying to block them from undoing her belt.

"LENA!" Her screams echo. "HELP ME!"

I think hard. Lena must be the girl from 4. The boys are yelling at her, but I can't make out their words.

I want to vomit. I can't take on two boys at once. I can't hit them from this far with my knives. I don't want to witness what they're doing. But I need to know where they are, in case they come looking for me.

They've got her belt undone. One is trying to pull her pants down while the other restrains her arms.

There's a roar in my ears as more water falls down all around me. I crawl backwards. It's a heavier downpour, and it scares me, how much water there is. I look around me, then I leap to my feet and start running, looking for a way up to the top, to level 12. My instincts tell me to go as high as I can, as fast as I can.

The water isn't just coming out of the pipes, it's pouring out of the trees. I hear a cannon. I don't dare stand under the torrents. It would pull me down and drown me. I look around for any signs of life. I see squirrels and lizards, the kinds of animals that can climb trees quickly. There may be spiders around too. I hope the snakes drown.

I crawl into the bushes where Mani and I hid. It offers me some protection. The water continues to fall. I can't hear anything but the sound of it. I open up a tin of food. It's cold soup. I eat it all.

I have no watch, of course. It seems to take over an hour, before the water tapers off. My ears are ringing. I slide out of the bushes and carefully approach the interior. I gasp when I see that the floor of level 11 is underwater. There are many dead animals in the water. I see the back of a tribute, floating. From the short hair, it must be one of the boys. Where is Lena? Where are the other two?

I pat my hips. My knives are handy. I pull out the sword and turn around, just as a dart flies near my head. I start swinging the sword, deflecting another dart. I move forward, seeing a girl who must be Lena, about 15 feet away, reloading her dart blower.

I charge at her, taking care of how I run on the wet ropes. I keep swinging the sword, a dart flies by my right ear. Something hits my left shoulder and I continue.

She's my height, but stockier. Her wet hair clings to her face as she pulls out her own sword. I keep going, and I knock the sword out of her hands with one good swing. My shoulder burns and I almost collapse. She reaches out and grabs the dart, showing it deeper into my shoulder. Bitch!

She maintains her grip on my shoulder. We're face to face now. My right hand swings again, but weakly. The burning in my left shoulder is intense. She punches my right shoulder, throwing me off balance. The sword falls. As I struggle to stay standing, she punches me right in the cut on my left cheek.

I spot wet orange blossoms behind her and I summon all of my strength to give her a good shove into the bushes. The orange pollen on top is soaked, but I see some poofing by her head as she collapses, limbs immediately jerking.

I pull the dart out of my shoulder, screaming at the pain. I will not hesitate, even as I'm in agony. I hold my breath and pull on her feet, tugging her away from the bushes. I pull my sleeves down to cover my hands. Then I roll her, grunting with the effort, turning her over a few times. She looks up at me but I won't make eye contact. I shove her over the edge of the platform. I hear a large splash.

I collapse to my knees. I can't get up. I hear a cannon. I don't know how many Tributes are left.

I'm losing my ability to use my left side. It's growing numb. I'm poisoned. I'm going to die. My entire left side is numb and I can't get up. Maybe I could roll to a hiding place? No, I'm going to die. Sorry, family.

I hear the Panem anthem. It's weird, like I'm listening to it through a tunnel.

I pass out.

To be continued.
