Well Father's Day has rolled around so I feel obligated to write something for it...So in that case you might be able to infer future events in this story...Tee Hee Hee….Anyway this chapter's title was inspired by an old movie trailer that was found in some 'Mystery Tapes' of Billy Crystal movie form the 90s called 'City Slickers' where Billy Crystal is playing a man facing his midlife crisis so his buddies invite him to join them on a cattle drive after his wife tells him to do it as a means to soul search for a new purpose in life as she phrases it in the trailer 'Go and find your smile' which I thought was really beautiful particularly in reading someone else's Punch Out Fanfic which has a chapter of Glass Joe struggling with his inexpressiveness
So as Glass Joe and Dana rappelled down into the enchanted fairy cave, Glass Joe was relieved that for his first time rappelling it came rather easy to him as a boxer with good upper body strength as he took a look at Dana beside him he could see with how easily the motions came to her he could see this was something she had done before...He wondered if it was part of how she escaped the lab she had been created perhaps climbing down the building from out her window…
When they finally got to the bottom, Glass Joe once again took a look at all the beautiful patchwork of the different colored jewels that made the walls…But after that Joe knew they had to begin making their way to the deepest part of the cave where the Pool of Truth resided…
As they made their way Joe began to feel a strange feeling began to stir within him...Was it this strange fairy tale like place? He felt a feeling like when he was a little boy and began skipping through the passages...And Dana followed along...When they came to a body of shallow water with a line stones that one could traverse to get to the other side...Joe and Dana made a game of leaping from stone to stone but in Joe's typical clumsy fashion he slipped at one point and fell in the green water, which was completely harmless ordinary water that was only green because it was reflecting the green emerald ceiling above...And Dana laughed along with Joe laughing at himself and she pulled him up out of the water.
They then came to the next level down...It was no longer pure jewels, there was now some ordinary stone mixed in within of the gemstones...They came to a ledge...Joe curious to see how far down got too close to the edge...However the edge crumbled beneath his feet and Joe screamed as he realized he was falling!
"Joe!" Came Dana's voice and Joe suddenly felt a sharp pain in his...Rear end…As Joe dangled frozen for a few minutes as he stared at how far he had to fall, he realized he was no longer falling because Dana had grabbed hold of his rear with her strong Doberman jaws…
On all fours Dana backed up while pulling Joe up with her...Once they were both safe at the very back of the ledge Dana released Joe's rear from her mouth and for a few moments she panted while Joe was still reeling from his near death experience.
"Joe…" Dana's voice came again breaking him out of his frozen terror "...Are you all right? I didn't hurt you too much did I?"
"I…" Joe ran his hand along the seat of his pants, there were clearly holes in the seat of his pants, feeling a slight stickiness, he slipped his hand down his pants and underpants and there were some small puncture wounds, but they weren't very big because his pants and underpants had acted as shield and it was clear Dana had grabbed his rear because that was the only part of his that was available as he was quickly going down...And he felt incredibly foolish for what he just did realizing he could have fallen to his death or at the very least broke every bone in his body...He had gotten so wrapped up in his playful feeling he had disregarded the danger...Whatever damage to his clothes or little body wounds didn't matter she had saved him...And he looked at Dana,,,And marveled at how strong she was being able to lift him by his...Bottom...With her mouth…
He hugged her close and said "Merci Dana...You saved my life!"
After holding her for quite few moments...Joe was finally ready to resume the quest.
"Come…" He said "...Let us get to that Pool of Truth…"
Yeah mostly an excuse for some good old fashioned butt injury slapstick but also to get some character development in doing so as a way to strengthen Joe's bond with Dana
