Twice Ice Demon Brothers
Naruto x Koyuki Kazehana
Haku x Honoka
Land of Fire; Hidden Leaf
Flashback start
"Banished, right?" Naruto's eyes grew dead and cold, but his emotions were a storm beneath the surface, only visible to the woman opposite him within his stormy blue eyes, that cut her deeply "I am… sorry, Naruto." She almost managed whispered "Due to use of excessive force against the clan heir of the Uchiha clan, we the council of the leaf have deemed you unsafe to remain within…" ignoring the pompous brats, Naruto steps toward the head of the table and hands over the gifted headband, sporting the village insignia, his shinobi licence and, much to the blonde kage's internal horror, the necklace of the first hokage.
Like granite, her eyes raise slowly to the boy before her, a boy she had come to see as her own with untold grief and horror "…N… N…" yet he simply smiled at her, a true smile not seen by most "Don't worry Tsunade-Ka-chan. I'll be fine. I'm an Uzumaki but more importantly, your little hero, right?" she managed a similar smile and looked him dead in the eye "I have the utmost faith with you, okay?" he nods firmly. The two seemed oblivious to the room around them, the clan heads bowing their heads in grief, all having gained respect for the boy as a fellow shinobi, the civilians glared in smug satisfaction.
Naruto finishes his packing in his apartment and as he goes to stand, he is suddenly hugged again by Tsunade who hadn't stopped crying since the decision. He hugged her back; he had no idea that this would be the last in almost a decade before they would meet again. Pulling back, he looks up at her with a soft smile "I should get moving."
Flashback end
Land of Spring; Daimyo's Quarters
Naruto, twenty-one years old, awoke staring up at the scarlet velvet cover above the decorative four post bed, before stretching out "I had forgotten about that…" he whispered to himself before his bed mate, wife and queen of the former frozen wasteland now known as the Land of Spring "…forgotten about what…" was a whispered response from his chest "…the day my life caved in." He states causing a soft hum from his better half. Silence for a few minutes as they just continued to enjoy this blissful silence.
A knock at the door echoes around the royal chamber, littered with the dressing equipment and various personal effects such as Naruto's personal sky-blue crystal-like short sword, mounted on the wall next to his ceremonial one that he wore more often than not. A soft growl from Naruto earned a soft giggle from the lady as she finally detached from her husband "Yes."
The door parted and two children rush in "Mummy! Daddy!" these two children were Kushina, a dark redhead girl, in the same fashion as her mother's, who was simply a spitting image of her grandmother with the exception of her mother's violet-blue eyes.
The son, Sosetu, named after his mother's father, was a simply a fusion of his parents. As the younger of the two, his baby factor was still in full effect as his three-year-old baby face had his father's whisker marks unlike his older sister. His short dark blond hair was kept short as he had recently had an incident with a prank gone wrong that involved liquid glue.
The two kids rushed and jumped into their parent's bed, caught by said parents with giggling following shortly thereafter. "Muchkin's, good morning." it was a few minutes of bliss for Naruto, as this is what he had fought for nearly eight years alongside his blood pact brother, Haku Yuki. Another knock and said man poke his head in with a smirk "Up yet?"
"It was you, huh? Shoulda known aniki." Naruto mumbled as the family started to get up "Well, it seemed you forgot that we have a Kumo delegation coming later." Haku reminded to which the two adults nodded "Right." Naruto responded "Better get to it."
"What about breakfast?" Kushina questioned innocently, looking up at her father who just finished tying his white floral pattern obi, over his dark grey kimono with the Uzumaki swirl upon the back, before reaching for his fighting sword which sent a message to the other adults that went over the heads of the children.
"Expecting trouble?" Haku asked, shifting the hidden tanto in his sleeve of his own kimono that was in his trademark light blue, white hemmed as he stood in the door "This is Kumo we are dealing with." Naruto responded before looking to his wife with all seriousness "Koi, I'm assigning additional guards with you and the children." and before she could partake in what has become her traditional protest, his hand raises "I do not care for your trust in our samurai's, perhaps I am being a bit too much overprotective, however I will rather face your wrath later than the suffer the pain of losing my family." that stopped her short.
Looking to his brother in arm, a firm nod shared between the two "Let's get going then. Have your family join mine." causing the last full Yuki to nod "Good idea. I'll send word immediately." Signalling to the hidden Yuki-shinobi before the two departed, Naruto standing in the doorway briefly and glancing back at them with a loving smile "I'll see the four of you later." Causing Koyuki to blush, absent minded rubbing her still flat stomach whilst the two kids smiled and waved as he left.
Naruto and Haku pace down the halls towards the council chambers when the more collected of the two spoke up, "Can't you clean yourself a bit more?" gaining his best friends attention. Since his departure from the leaf and meeting up with his now best friend, Naruto has grown up in every sense of the word. His hair reached his shoulder blades, pony tail with a small bunch of dark hair strands above his left eye that are tied back with his blond spikes. Haku had the same thing, but his was sunny blond, a consequence of his sacrifice for saving his life back on the bridge.
"Oh, come on Aniki." Naruto drawled whilst rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Haku's left eye twitched at that grabbing his friend's arm "At least fix your kimono properly." the older ice user snapped causing a sigh to escape the blond. In their time together, Haku had imparted his love for battle kimonos, and through much blood, sweat, and pain, he broke the orange obsession.
While his own kimonos tend to hold more blue then most, Naruto's tend to be grey, black, or dull Scarlet, though he does have an orange one but has been banned from wearing it by his ever loving wife. Pausing at the thought as he finishes adjusting his clothes "Better?" Naruto questioned as Haku nodded "Much. Let's get going, your grace?" a mock bow and cheeky grin he certainly learnt from his brother in arms, a scowl upon the 'Royal' former shinobi "You know I hate when you do that." The two share a chuckle as they proceed on.
Land of Spring; Council Chambers
Naruto sat at the head of the long table, filled halfway with advisors, with Haku at his side as the first Yukikage of the counties Hidden Village. Both had grown over their time together from their epic clash on the bridge of the Wave country, the miracle healing by the fox and exchange of life forces, and then their third meeting after his banishment, both without purpose before becoming each other's. In their time together, they both stood shoulder to shoulder at a respectful Six foot one, both with swordsmen builds but slightly leaner as they both are speed demons, though Naruto less so as power output is his forte.
They carved a frozen path through the bounty hunting world, also awoken Naruto's sudden awakening of his own kekki genki that matched his partner. Ice release. It would be a full year after their debut within the bounty hunting when an answer to his acquiring of the ice release during a life threatening injury. The fox was pleased with his growth since leaving and let it slip that, during their sharing of life force he may have accidentally purposely fused a portion of one another's DNA in the other allowing for the sharing of bloodlines.
The door parting broke Naruto from his musings as the three-cloud shinobi arrive. He did not stand, as apparently, he was now above them on the social standings which led to them to bow "Lord Kazehana, it is an honour to granted this presence within your abode." One lightning shinobi "It's fine. Take a seat, please." they did so and the talks began in earnest. It would take several hours of closed-door talks, the peace shared between them solidified once again.
As the talks began to close, the leader felt that his curiosity could no longer be denied "My Lord…" spoken with strain but with a modicum of respect but accomplished its goal in gaining the man's attention "…your past as a bounty hunter…"
"…is of no concern anymore." Naruto responded sternly, his wave off many might considered rude but those in attendance paid it no mind as they were more on edge for the response to the Cloud Jonin's words.
"We have long since hung up our blades in that line of work. We are no longer the twin frost dragons, or whatever they called us." Naruto began, everyone listening intently including his brother in ice "…but as it is, should the need arise." the unspoken threat was hung out for all to see and the Cloud shinobi knew instinctively that it would and could be implemented with little effort. A shudder was stifled as the meeting was finally ended on that note.
Land of Spring; Docks
Naruto and Haku escorted the Cloud group to their awaiting boat. A handshake shared "It was fun talking with you. I'll be sure to pass you're thanks to the Raikage."
"You have my thanks also, Kakuo-san." Naruto responded softly but with the firmness Haku knew came naturally to his blond brother. The shinobi nodded with a soft smile before turning back to the vessel.
After the ship left, Naruto watched over as it departed "…your Snowflakes?"
"Detected them, persuaded them it was unwise to stick around." Haku states with Naruto nodding with a smirk "A perfectionist, as always." The Yuki simply lifted his nose up, elegantly as ever "Just goes to show how much we are…" they both froze upon sensing a new arrival attempting to sneak past them. A heavily suppressed signature was moving slowly beneath their feet, "You can't be…?" the Yuki mouthed causing the Uzumaki to sigh with a nod "Toad." was mouthed back.
Jairya had finally slipped into the Land of Spring, via Land of Lightning which of caused was a surprise but a welcomed one. Since the disappearance of one Naruto Uzumaki, after his banishment, the countries that saw him as a hero banned Leaf shinobi from entry which of course also meant Spring country.
As he steps out from the toads mouth he was surprised, as two dozen Anbu level shinobi landing around him all with weapons drawn. A seal beneath him suddenly froze his ability to use chakra, and locked in place "You never should have come here, Leaf Shinobi." the Anbu Captain states stepping forward as the paralyzed shinobi just watched as darkness closed in.
"To think they were this desperate." Haku state's as he looks down on the knocked out toad sage "Yes. Though I was surprised that it took so long for them to send him." gesturing to the white haired man, kicking him with his thick leather boot. "Well, our friends on the mainland did warn us. Perhaps was that…"
"The reason for our renegotiation. Yes. We will only offer humanitarian aid. Food and medicine. That sorta things." Naruto confirmed "…and if they attempt to force our hands?" Haku almost whispered shouted but noticed the sinister smile forming upon his friends face "That's when your Yuki shinobi come into play. Kumo suspects that you are all Chunin level at best. Not even contemplating that we already have a force of Anbu." the pride was not lost upon those very operatives who all smirked beneath their masks.
Land of Spring; Daimyo's Estate
Naruto and Haku step into the estates of the royal family, though currently there were only Koyuki and the three children. Though Naruto was also considered royalty by the simple fact that his own parentage is of royalty from the lost land of the Whirlpool Country. It was only shared with the court as to silence those who opposed his marriage to Koyuki, seeing as he was the son of a royal line long thought extinct, and even more so when his fathers name was mentioned.
That being said, as the two brothers chuckle and relaxed as their stepped into the courtyard "Daddy…!" was called out and twin blurry then thuds as the two girls were hefted up until the duos shoulders, grinning widely as their daddies grinned whilst supporting the girls upon their shoulders who began to chat among themselves with a high five shared.
The group arrive at the table at the centre of the park within the estate to find the men's other half, the beautiful lady of the land Koyuki Kazehana, dark blue hair and a body that many people have approved of among the big screens. Despite all the fame, glamour, and fanfare, she has only had eyes on the one man that came from a distant land as a shinobi, to save her from her own exile. Yet, thanks to her love for him, she was able to then save him from his own exile and give him everything he ever wanted. A home to feel safe in. A family to come home too.
She would never truly understand how much that means to him, so much that even the hidden kitsune within him couldn't help but acknowledge it too.
"So, how are our lovely ladies doing this day?" spoke Haku, his soft smile was so lady killing to the point he was required to wear a mask outside Spring county. His wife, Yuki Honoka, formally Uzumaki, was a five-foot-five gentle soul, at least for an Uzumaki, who the two found when the duo were checking the ruins of Uzu no kuni, in the early days of their career. The two would often run into her several times, saving her ass an uncountable number of times from everything from missing nin, to Orochimaru and his Sound forces, and even a particular run in with a certain shinobi village hidden among the clouds.
"Tsk, 'bout time you two showed up…" Honoka mumbled but with a noticeable blush that no one dared point out, Naruto knowing better due to plenty of previous experience "Sorry, Hime…" Haku kissing her hand, her fake anger evaporated instantly as her face matched her hair, Naruto desperately biting his lip to not comment on that "…we had to deal with an…"
"Unwanted." Naruto supplied to which gained Koyuki's attention "Unwanted, dear?" to which Naruto turned unusually serious "A certain toad tried to slip in." These words caused all playful banter to cease, dangerous glint within the Spring Daimyo's eyes "…oh, is that right?" a snort from Honoka "They really don't respect anyone's rules, do they?"
"Told you that already didn't I?" Naruto looking to his cousin who pushed her glasses up her face before taking her daughter "…'tought all 'does stories about the leaf were just dat. Stories. Tall tales." Haku sighs at his wife's statement "I'm sorry, but after all the years we've been together…" his sombre tone as he reaches for the tea cup on the table "I'll send a message bird at once." Koyuki declared only to receive a scroll from her other half, "Like this…?" after a quick glance, she had nodded with a sense of pride and smirk at what was written "I must say, you are getting good at the diplomatic talk." she snickered as he blushed.
Land of Fire; Hokage Office
Poof. "Jairya…?" spoke a confused Tsunade, having unsealed a note from the Land of Spring, that she had secretly hoped would be good news on her little hero gaki. Yet only a snoozing toad sage appeared with a small note, "Dear Lady/Lord Hokage, we have previously stated that your fighting forces are not to stand upon our soil without word being sent. For this will be your be your last time, should you be discovered again, you shall receive their heads. Do not think you can pull the wool over our eyes."
A heavy, long sigh escaped the blonde kage in defeat, head flopping down on the desk, "Why…? Why Jairya?!" an almost defeated sigh. A quick water jet awoke the emotionally shady toad sage, who bolted up as he started looking around "Wha… what…?"
"You got caught… Jairya, and returned." Tsunade states with her cheek resting on her fist, blankly as she watches the man get back to his feet "…what, impossible… I…" he paused as the last thing he recalled were masked shinobi surrounding him, "…damn. Didn't think they had their own shinobi, let alone Anbu." this caused the woman to perk up at that "Kumo, or…?"
"I think they have their own force, though I can't be sure." the white haired man scratching the back of his head, "I see. Perhaps we can retry for an alliance."
"Let me try again. I won't be…" but he paused upon her raised hand, head shakes "That won't be necessary. Should you try…" a hollow smile upon her face, the thought of loosing her former teammate caused a pang of panic within her.
The toad sage paused at that hollowed look in his teammates face caused him to sigh, she had been doing that a lot since the gaki left after the banishment. To make things worse, his own friends or more accurately his acquaintances turned on him almost universally. Shino Aberame, Shikamaru Nara, Neji Hyuga, and Tenten are all upon his side though the others became hostile to any mention of Naruto's name. "I still haven't found any trace of him, Tsu-hime." His following sigh truly showed his age, "He just vanished…"
"He's alive, Jairya. I just know it." her soft response, head in hands, "…his names not on the toad contract. We can't…" suddenly Tenten pushed into the room, "Lady Hokage, I think you should see this." handing over an old, weathered magazine. Taking up the article, Tsunade gave it a quick once over before she flipped to another page to a full spread. On said page was a two spread that showed 'Twin Frost Rogues' where two men, one long dark blond haired mercenary standing back to back with an ebony haired man both holding crystal like swords.
The two men were for a lack of a better word was, beautiful, demi-god's made of granite firm muscled eight packs visible through their open front kimono's, beneath their mesh armour. A slight tinge of pink dusted the hokage faces, "…oh… oh my."
"I know, right." Tenten nearly drooling at the sight before the toad sage cleared his throat, gaining the rooms attention briefly "…that's Naruto, right." pointing to he blond demigod. Tsunade took a second moment before matching the young man in the picture with the young blond she had banished "Oh…"
A bingo book was flung open, the independent section, "Whoa…" was the collective gasp;

Land of Fire; Hokage Office
"So, he's an S-rank, now?" murmured Tsunade and Tenten nodded "I'm sorry, I didn't think to check earlier." but the others just waved her off, "We should have kept our own eyes on them." Jairya spoke while Tsunade continue to inspecting the two page spread "…is this all true?" perfectly manicured fingers running across the page at the various gossipy claims dotted about the page "Possibly." Jayria mentioned "I'll have to check them in."
"Also, that books kinda old." Tenten responded pointing to the lower corner, and revealed the book was four years old.
A few minutes later…
"You called, Lady Hokage." Ino Yamanaka bowing before her fellow blonde "Yes, do you know about this…?" Tsunade holding up the old magazines, upon seeing the two hunks on the page Ino's old fangirl habits resurfaced and she actually squealed, pulling out the last copy of the two were in "Ah, the Ice brothers." This caused the kage to arch a finely plucked eyebrow "Ice brothers?"
"Yeah. They both use ice ninjutsu and apparently capable of going toe to toe with the seven swordsmen of the mist…" the others noticed that the woman had returned to the kunoichi she was known to be "…thus are honorary members but aren't Mist shinobi." She sighs "We don't know their names but from what we currently know of them is that they've been instrumental in ending at least six different conflicts, preventing two civil wars, and a not insignificant number of bandit camps and missing nin being dealt with." She shifts her weight to the left leg, arms crossed "We've tried at least twelve different attempts to catch one or the other, but they seemed to know whenever our agents are getting close and go underground."
"What capabilities do they have?" Tsunade asks and she responded without missing a beat "Master level swordsmen, confirmed Ice release thus the monikers. We suspect that one or both are sensors, really good ones at that. We have them listed as Targets of Interest with a B-level threat warning."
"B-level?" Tenten with a raised eyebrow, "What do you mean you didn't know who they are?" spoke a confused Tsunade holding up the picture "That's Naruto." Pointing to the blond teenager "We thought that initially too but, Naruto has never showed any incline of Ice release so we dismissed it as a coincidence." Ino explained pulling out a case file from a storage seal, presenting to the Hokage "We even redone some blood work from Naruto's records and no signs of Ice release showed up."
"Let's work under the assumption that this is Naruto." Jayria pulling them back on target, finger jabbing the page "What info do we have on him, his partner?"
"No more than you probably have, Lord Jairya." Ino began "…but an analyst had pointed out that on the former Team Seven, the one led by Kakashi, their first C rank was bumped up to A rank…"
"I remember hearing about that." Tsunade comments to which the intelligence officer nods "…among the enemy combatants was a member of the Yuki clan." This now caught the rooms attention "…but the reports say…" Tsunade began "…he took a Chidori to the chest, curtesy of Kakashi." Ino finished with another nod.
"Then how'd he survived?" asked Tenten clearly confused at this from her seat beside the toad sage, who was deep in thought for a few minutes yet it was Tsunade who offered the best assumption "What if, and a big if, as Naruto was burying the two as the records state, he had noticed that his first friend was still alive." Speaking slowly as the thoughts were coming in, trying to not to miss a piece of intel "Naruto would die for his friends." Spoke Jayria with a nod, "The Kyubi." Tenten snapping her fingers, which finally pulled a story together for the two Sanin "He shared his regeneration factor…" Tsunade standing up, a distant look on her eyes "…saved his friends life, the Kyubi took samples of the ice release for later use…" Jairya continued, "…and when he was banished…"
"…he met with Haku and the two trained." Tenten continued understanding the pattern now while Ino too was writing this down, nodding along with the thought process easily enough, matching to the thought process she knew of her fellow blonde before he left.
A pensive look on the mind walkers face as she looks up from her note taking "So, where would he go then?" Tsunade asks of the Yamanaka heiress who began to rifle through the notes she had. Not finding what she was looking for she pulled out two storage scrolls, scanning them before stopping and with a puff of smoke, came a map of the Elemental Nations "This is a map of everything I could find on the ice Demon brothers. It took some time but I think we have a general idea of where they've been…" she sighs hard "…though, their trail went dead almost three and a half years ago."
"What do you mean went dead?" ask Tsunade with a contemplative face. She really needs to trust in her department heads more, as it seems yet again that Jairya has been outdone by her own Anbu intelligence officers.
"As of Frost/Hotspring incident was the last time we heard of their sightings. Since then…" Ino shrugged, a pensive look took over Tsunade this time "Did they die?"
"Unlikely." Ino adds "They've gone underground. Neither the bounty office nor the Bingo books have reported either being handed in." She did paused for a moment, recalling something unusual "Though, Kumo did remove the two from their bingo book last year." Tenten raised an eyebrow as the two Sanin share a look "Since when did Kumo ever remove a threat from the bingo book?" asked the foremost expert in weapons from the hidden Leaf. "They don't…" Jayria intoned lowly.
"What do you have on Kumo, Jayria?" asked the Hokage to which the toad sage nodded "They've been having dealings with both Suna and Spring." This raised a flag in Ino's head "Spring…" she almost whispered drawing the rooms attention to her. Her pale blues lock on to honey brown "…our estimations of possible locations he would hide out were Wave, Tea, and Snow/Spring countries." She informed her leader to which Jairya then pales upon realising "That's how they caught me." Realisation dawned on Tsunade at that point "He must be in Spring Country then. We have to find a way to contact them." Tenten states to which Ino nodded "Then…" the young blonde was interrupted by her leader "I'll send a missive using the diplomatic seal of the Land of Fire." She looks to the two Kunoichi "Tenten, Ino, gather up the most diplomatic team in relation to Naruto that you can. I have an A-Rank assignment for you."
"Yes, ma'am." Before they both vanish in swirls of leaves.
Upon the two Jonin leaving, Tsunade looks to Jairya who gets up "I better get ready…"
"You're not going." The kage informs her subordinate which catches him flat footed "Wha… why not?" he slammed his hands down but her narrowed eyed glare caused him to stand down "The fact they caught you once, means they are expecting you to try again. If they catch you…" she trailed off but he smirks "…I don't think the brat…"
"Ten years is a long time, Jairya." Her sigh shows her age despite the permanent genjutsu she wore "I doubt he has much love for the village that tormented him." Her eyes seemed so hollow "I need to know if he's okay, is he happy, will he come back…" his hand rests upon her shoulders causing her to look up at his smiling visage "Brat's probably doing great. Nothing can keep him down."
Back in the Land of Spring
Naruto sneezed for the seventh time in a row before glancing around at his family, "You Okay?" Spoke Koyuki clearly worried but Naruto smiled "Yeah I'm fine…" then a cold shudder down his spine and his eyes harden at that "…I think we're going to have trouble soon." Haku noticing the look also hardened his features "I will put our shinobi on high alert."
Hidden Leaf; Hokage Office
Standing before the Hokage was the team Tenten and Ino assembled. From right to left stood Neji Hyūga, Elite Jonin and master of the gentle fist. Due to hostility of the main branch against the former leaf Genin, he was chosen as he had the most experience in negotiations and educate among nobles. It was a no brainer for Tenten.
Beside the Hyūga master was Shikamaru Nara, Jonin. He took the betrayal of Naruto surprisingly hard. It was his first mission in command and they had succeeded, yet one of his own was punished for it. His lazy attitude was still present but it always took a back seat on missions and training. He has far outclassed his father's skills at this point and done things no Nara had considered before. Though, not all good came of it. He has zero tolerance for troublesome people, his words, and has cut off those he finds too stupid without looking back. That included Ino until three years ago when she apologised for idiocy towards the blond. They speak on occasion.
Next was Choji Akamichi, originally a Naruto hater, it was his dad, Shikaku, and Shikamaru who explained it in a way that Choji could understand. He's remained loyal to both the Nara and the Uzumaki since and hopes they can sit down and catch up over some BBQ some time.
Shino Abureme is the final member. Although never hostile to Naruto, he was never a friend until the Chunin exams. Naruto had found an undocumented Beatle within the forest of death, post exam, and went to Shino to identify it. As Naruto left, he proclaimed their friendship and Shino considered him such from then on. His banishment was illogical and ill-conceived, but when his burden becomes known to all Shino was furious for a full week. After a deep discussion with his hive and his parents he was able to calm down enough to not snap at anyone who disgraced his friends name. He hopes to find his friend to show the colony created from the bug he had brought him all that time ago.
"Listen up…" Tsunade began, causing the six to stand straighter at attention "…we have reason to believe that one of our own is in Spring County, and we want to make contact…" this caused the four men to raise eyebrows at that, beside Shino, Shino is Shino and shows little externally "I have already despatched a missive with the diplomatic seal upon it. You will be granted access only for a week, maximum. Meet with the Spring Daimyo and try renegotiate a treaty."
"Lady Hokage; Shouldn't someone from the council lead these talks?" spoke Neji, stoically as any Hyūga ever "Normally I would…" Tsunade nods leaning back in her chair "…but the nature of the mission means that most on the council…"
"…still think Naruto's the fox." Spoke Shikamaru to which the Kage nods at "If he's in Spring, like Ino, Tenten, Jairya and I think…"
"Logical choice." Shino nodding along "My dad basically wants me to take over so…" Shikamaru mentions "…clan matter." Tsunade waving him off. "This is an A-Rank diplomatic mission. I recommend leaving at first light tomorrow morning, tomorrow noon at the latest. Dismissed."
Hidden Leaf; Hyūga Compound
Neji stepped into the compound to come face to face with the current clan head, Hiashi Hyūga "Neji, how was your meeting with the Hokage?"
"I was assigned to an A-Rank diplomatic mission to Spring country." His cool response which raised an eyebrow from the main house head "Curious, why did they not ask me or…" he trailed off as his face seemed to tighten even further "…I see. Well, I wish you the best." Before making a speedy retreat. Neji narrowed his eyes, cursing inwardly as he makes his way to his own quarters, hoping nothing happened to jeopardise his mission tomorrow.
The following morning, the sun yet to rise, Neji finishes packing his bag which he swiftly slung over his back. Making his way out he is confronted by Hyūga clan heiress to which he schooled his features, maximising his clan training to speak evenly "Lady Hinata." with a bow "Neji. I hear that you have a mission towards the Land of Spring." The ever stoic Hinata, ever since the banishment of Naruto she had become a stereotypical Hyūga, but more hate filled an almost complete one eighty to her shy self when she was younger.
"Yes, Lady Hinata. My team is leaving momentarily, so I'll be making my way…"
"Father has spoken to the Hokage, I shall accompany you on this mission…"
"Lady Hokage has yet to inform me of such a…" his rejections was halted when a mission scroll was offered to him by the heiress. Inspecting the document, he frowned internally his face remaining neutral "Very well. Let us depart, Lady Hinata."
Hidden Leaf: Front Gate
Neji arrived at the gate, met by his team who immediately went stiff upon seeing the heiress of the Hyūga walking up behind him. A growl from Tenten "What are you doing here, Hyūga-tem?"
"I will be acting as the diplomatic leader on this mission." Hinata spoke with confidence, almost haughtily, "Since when…?" Ino questioned with a raised eyebrow, arms crossed only to catch a scroll "This is bullshit."
"Unfortunately, it is true." Tsunade appearing on the scene "The shinobi council insisted that having a main house Hyūga for this diplomatic mission." The Hokage sighs hard, she's getting tired of this shit already.
"Listen…" looking directly at Hinata, "…I have suspicions, but you must have to be on your best behaviour. Understood?"
"Understood, Lady Hokage." Hinata's stiff response gaining a nod from the leader. "Good. Then…" turning her attention to the whole "…good luck to you all." They all salute "Hai Lady Hokage."
It would take them three weeks to get Spring Country.
Land of Spring; Hidden Ice Village
A knock on the door "Come in!" a muffled voice, and in stepped the dark blond "Yo Aniki."
"Little brother. What brings your highness down to us mere plebeian realm?" a slight snicker in his tone, which turned to full blown laughter at his growl and narrowed eyes "Two things; One, wanted to see how things were going?"
"Thanks to all our merc allies, our ninja ranks have swelled up to about a hundred strong. About twenty Jonin level, Chunin's at about fifty-six, and twenty-four Genin." Haku reported placing down his brush, giving his full attention to the Lands leader, fingers interlocked "Though, we should have another batch of Genin in about seven months."
Naruto nodded; "Coming up well within expectation." Haku nodded as the seriousness remained "Secondly…" placing the scroll recently received at the palace "…read this." it took only a moment for the last adult Yuki to gloss over the document "I see. The diplomatic seal prevents us from denying them, huh?"
"Unfortunately." a sigh escapes the dark blond, hands within his sleeves as he sits opposite Haku "I normally wouldn't care, but seeing as Koyuki is currently…" he trailed off, Haku nodded as he leaned back in his chair. "…in that case, this is what we do…"
Land of Spring; Palace
Naruto entered the palace grounds, his smile nowhere present as his stern visage was that of his commander persona. The former mercenary shinobi here knew of it, when he gave an order it was best to follow, no question asked. He rarely ever used it these days, as he had hung up his sword the week before his eldest was born, and only once had he resumed that persona in leading the countries military in it's defence against pirate forces.
As he arrived at the council chambers, he barged the door apart abruptly which told the councillors who they were dealing with. Standing at attention, "Listen up…" Naruto standing at the council table, full attention upon him "…we have a diplomatic team from the Hidden Leaf arriving with the next few days." He takes a deep breath, his blue eyes are cobalt cool "As they and I have an antagonistic at best, hostile at worse, I know it would be best that I not greet or meet them."
"My liege…" the samurai Commander Yui, bowing stiffly "…if this is the case, should we not…"
"No." Naruto shaking his head once, "They have invoked the internationally recognised Diplomatic seal." his gaze flows over them all, his steeled gaze demanded their respect "As such, I want additional guards for my wife who will receive them. Together with my jutsu, for her too appear as they know of her. Not only that, this will be the first time we shall operate our Yuki shinobi in the open. I can't let them see any sign of weakness. Am I clear?"
"Yes, sir!"
Naruto enters the inner sanctum of the castle, his wife humming a soft tune as she enjoyed herself within the swimming pool like hot tub. Slipping in to the bathroom, Naruto released from his clothes, and came into view of his beautiful lady "Mi' lady…" gaining her attention, a bright smile "…mi'lord!"
Within the warmth of the inside Hotspring, the royal couple simply enjoy the company of the other, "You know I don't want to do this, but you'll have to meet with our oncoming guests."
"…oh?!" a raised eyebrow from his wife, a coy smile, damp black hair sticking to her pale skin "Konoha." this caused her to freeze. A tense silence. Cough. "I see. In that case…" before the predicted rant could gain momentum, his lips smack into hers and moans followed her whimpers. Naruto pulls back with a soft smile "I love you my Yuki-hime." She huffs, blushing wildly and pouts "No fair."
Land of Spring; Hidoc Docks
A few days later…
Haku stood at the docks, his face a perfect stoic form with a hint of malice which wasn't hard for the other guards to figure out why. They all knew. Every samurai and shinobi in service of the land had heard of the Commanders, both of them, back stories and the tale of their betrayals. The miniscule amount of killing intent was very clearly being suppressed, yet still slipping out showed just how much distain he held for the next group of arrivals "Sir…?"
"It's nothing." Haku snapped and the guardsmen knew better than to argue, his cold rage was nothing to scoff at being able to supposedly freeze entire villages on a whim. Unconfirmed reports and all.
The ship entering the harbour proudly donned the Hidden Leaf village insignia, the shinobi on its deck coming into view. Haku swallowed his distaste and put up his perfect face of indifference, hands up his sleeves with a regal stature and aura surrounding him. The walkway dropped and the Hidden Leaf diplomatic envoy stepped off led by Hinata Hyūga, her guardian Neji Hyūga on her heels, with Shikamaru leading his team down with Shino bringing up the rear.
The samurai standing on parade all salute with their pikes front and centre, on proud display, as the Leaf team steps past. Coming to a stop, Hinata bowed slightly matching Haku "Welcome to the Land of Spring, Hidden Leaf Shinobi. I am Haku Yuki, Clan Head of the Yuki clan and Second in command of the defence force."
"I am Hinata Hyūga, Heiress of the noble Hyūga clan of Konoha. I am the lead negotiator for this endeavour." Hinata stated stiffly before gesturing to the group, introducing each one of her party in sequence with perfect efficiency.
"Very well. We have prepared coaches for ease of movement to the station, from there a train is awaiting our arrival to take us to the castle for your meeting with the council." Haku informs leading them to the two carriages nearby. "Surely we could run there faster, no?" questioned Ino somewhat puzzled as they arrive at the transportation. Haku nodded "Indeed, however…" turning to face the group, his blank face offering nothing they could read "…the citizens here do not trust shinobi, especially those of your persuasion,"
"Our persuasion?" Shikamaru with a raised eyebrow but Haku offered nothing further.
Land of Spring; Palace Town
As the group moved across the landscape aboard the train, the rolling hills were comforting for the group, and a serene sense of peace fell upon the group all the while being under the ever watchful eyes of the Samurai, not noticing the numerous shadows keeping out of sight of even the Hyūga.
Pulling up to the station, the Leaf team were surprised at the level of development on display for the regular citizens with trams, and chakra powered wagons. Despite the name of the country, the group arrived during the tail end of the winter season thus snow still littered corners and the less travelled paths.
Exiting the station, the group led towards the palace nearby, the group was surrounded by samurai on all sides. Though the short work, the group noticed the looks of distain and hatred shot their way causing heckles to raise upon the shinobi's neck. "This is troublesome." Shikamaru mentions softly to the group who nodded along with him, swallowing down the lumps in their throats.
Land of Spring; Palace
Haku steps into the throne room, the diplomatic team following him, but the two thrones were empty and their guide didn't stop there and led them to a side room. That double door was parted and the room occupants all stood in honour, the lone exemption being the Lady of the Land, Koyuki Kazehana.
"Mi'lady – the leaf envoy has arrived." Haku presented with a bow, the others following suit, "So I see." Koyuki with narrowed eyes at the group "To what do we owe the displeasure of your presence."
"Lady Kazehana." Hinata stepping forward, bowing forward, "Our Hokage is interested in recovering the Land of Spring as an ally and has deployed us to acquire your requests to acquire such."
"Oh…?" spoke the princess with raised eyebrow, her councilmen chuckled silently at the arrogance on display, "…you want us as your ally? Why is that?" one council member questioned scowling at the Leaf team "Well, we believe a trade agreement between us will only benefit…" Hinata halted when Koyuki held up her hand, "Why are you here? Not what you wish for us to hear." spoken calmly, cooley, and full with regal grace she was born with.
"We want to…"
"That is not the real reason, is it?" Haku stated from the side of the room "We are…"
"Not buying it." another councilmen states folding his stocky arms, eyebrow raised "You already know that we dislike you…" several chuckles echo around the room with even the Daimyo smiling slightly at that, hand holding up her tilted head on her forefinger and thumb. A heavy sigh "Troublesome. You know why we are here, don't you?" Shikamaru glancing between Haku and Koyuki "Whatever do you mean?" another councilmen challenged with genuine mirth, the Nara narrowing his eyes at them "Where's Naruto?" Ino asks stepping forward, looking from Koyuki to Haku with her eyes glowing slightly "Haku Yuki. One half of Demon Ice Brothers. So, where's the other half…?"
"He's here." Hinata glaring at Koyuki, or more accurately her stomach her dojutsu blaring "You're pregnant. Their chakra signature matches his." her bykugan flaring while glaring fully at the Daimyo's stomach.
The others were shocked by this but also the fact that Hinata had activated her dojutsu in the presence of royalty was considered incredibly rude. An arrest able offensive. Just as expected, the guards all drew weapons and surrounded the group, "Arrest them all." Haku ordered and before they could react, chakra suppressing seals hit them, and Ino was actually stunned "How…?"
"Yamanaka-san. We are well aware of your clans mental techniques…" Haku states pushing off the wall, his artic gaze upon them "…thus your attempt to scan our thoughts was fully expected and countered. Now then, due to your disrespect you have shown you will be held until your village is notified and proper compensation paid." spoken as coldly as his clans jutsu were known to be.
After being escorted out those that remained, glanced from one to another, many burst out in light chuckles whilst the genjutsu over her shimmered out and her slight bump on display and Naruto stepped in "Didn't expect a Hyūga, much less two… even more so those two…" Naruto states with a sigh as he takes hold of his wife's hand "I'm sorry Naru-koi." Koyuki sighs but that fully suspended as he gives her a very tender chased kiss.
"You're amazing as always." before looking to the council his eyes soften as his countrymen "We cannot allow our enemies a foothold but also keep our eyes open for them." They all nod "Seeing as they know I'm here, I'll take charge of the next meeting tomorrow."
"Sorry my love." Koyuki sighs covering her face, but was drawn into a hug by her husband, "It isn't your fault. Don't worry about it."
The following day…
Haku led the leaf team into the throne room again but this time it wasn't deserted. The room was lined by samurai donning sky blue armour plating, fur lining, with pikes as primary weapons and pure white katana's in the same coloured sheaths. The white rug led up through the pillars, lined with gold and looking as regal as it's position demanded. It led up to a small platform three steps up, twin elegant thrones of silver and white cotton cushions but were not in excess yet that seemed to elevate it's tastefulness.
Lastly the sight of the two atop the throne, Lady Koyuki Kazehana with her long black hair with bangs that swept on each side of her face and violet-blue eyes. Just like when she was filming as an actress, that she had a break from due to her new status, makeup such as pink eye shadow and red lipstick. She wore a green kimono, dark blue obi around her waist, over a pink dress with gloves in the same manner of her obi. Her blank face as they approached did not bode well for the leaf team.
Beside her however was the man of the hour, perhaps decade, was a dark blonde haired man, who had a small bundle of brunette on his left side. His angular face was reminiscent of his father, though his lack of his trademark whiskers to nearly faint outlines that you had to squint to see them. His build was swordsmen, built but not bulky, broad shoulder which complemented his longer hair. Yes, this was the new Naruto Kazehana formally Uzumaki, sometimes going by his brother's clan name too but right now, he was acting as leader of Spring Country thus Kazehana.
Naruto observes the group before him with an artic gaze, it was clear that some sort of disagreement within the group, subtle glares at the apparent leader being none other than Hinata Hyūga, heir apparent of the, self-acclaimed Nobel clan, Hyūga clan of the Hidden Leaf village. He swore he heard a snort within his mind at that, but he cared not as Haku's reports from the Leaf tell of the divide from the infamous Rookie Nine of the Leaf. Unsurprisingly those who belong to the more friendly faction to him were present, must have been an attempt from Lady Hokage to sway his favour. Another snort from within his mind caused a smirk to momentarily flicker across his blank visage, his mask rivalled the trained Hyūga.
Next to her however was Neji, who seemed far more unsure of himself; no, of the situation. Perhaps. A glance and Naruto noticed the slight glimmer on his brow, sweat and worry evident by that. He chuckled inwardly at the slacked jawed, "So…" he hears from his side, Koyuki speaking up with her natural regality "…now that you have achieved your objectives, what is it that you desire from us?"
Shikamaru Nara stepped forward, his shadow paralyzing the Hyūga heiress, "Lord Kazehana; As previously stated we are indeed wish to form an alliance. We understand that you have misgivings and about…"
"Sir!" a Yuki shinobi appeared via sunshin, "We have received word. From our forward posts." handing over a scroll to which Haku grabbed and read through swiftly "We'll have an issue with this." Sighing hard as he turns back, returning to Naruto's side and whispering into his ears causing wide eyes from Hinata and Neji, who were reading lips.
"…get them together, and despatch a squadron immediately." Naruto spoke softly and Haku nodded before vanishing in a swirl of snowflakes, "haaa… listen, we will allow you stay here for the full week but I, personally, have other issues to deal with."
"Perhaps we can assist you, Lord Kazehana." Shikamaru clearly grasping for straws only for Naruto to shake his head, "I cannot permit that." clicking his fingers and twelve Yuki shinobi, dark grey, white khaki Anbu pants and artic blue flack jackets, landed around the leaf contingent. "My dear, I must leave them with you." Naruto speaking to his wife, kissing her hand and with a loving smile he soon vanished via shunshin.
The warmth in the room vanishes as Koyuki Kazehana stares down at the leaf team, "Now…" eyes now as cold as her husband's jutsu "…why are you trying to drag us into your war?"
The day before…
Land of Fire; Hidden Leaf; Hokage office
"We have received word of Sasuke Uchiha being within the borders of the Land of Fire." Tsunade explained causing the gathered group of assassins for hire "Where Lady Hokage?" spoke up the former apprentice, Sakura Haruno "Yeah! That bastard has always…"
"Enough!" Kakashi Hatake spoke up, cutting the group into the silence "Let Lady Hokage speak…"
"Thank you…" Tsunade mumbled "…as such, I am sending you all to intercept to bring him in if at all possible."
"It will be done, master." Haruno bellowed with flames in her eyes. It was a chance to get her beloved back then, all she needed to do was to marry and have a happily ever after.
Land of Fire; Northern Forest; Pale Wave Port
Kakashi, Sakura, Sai, and Kiba, arrive at the last port Anbu reports suggested the last Uchiha was supposed to be heading. Entering the town causally, as this was still Fire Country, their backyard, and as they strolled in the day after they had left.
Walking down the market road, it was Akamaru who stopped and sniffed around and immediately ran off. The others gave chase and as they rounded a corner they found the ninja dog being petted by a kid, no older than seven or eight, black shabby hair and equally obsidian eyes and soft face. As the leaf shinobi approached Kiba spoke up "Hey Akamaru… what giv…" the very second he had spoke up, the kid had glanced up and they all noticed him stiffen.
The kid immediately froze and stepped back, clear signs of panic on display, "Hey kiddo… can we speak with…?" Kakashi stepping behind the kid as Akamaru discreetly took hold of the kids arm, startling him. "Yo kid. We need you to tell us if you've seen this guy…?" Kiba kneeling before the brunette, pulling out a photo of Sasuke in the same motion again the ninja didn't miss the widening eyes of the child.
"So, you are related to our target, we need you too…"
"KA-CHAN!" the kid roars and a suddenly Kiba fell asleep, Akamaru following shortly after and before Kakashi could react a Najinada had appeared at his throat "Sometimes I find your ability to get into trouble is unrivalled, kiddo." The Jonin leader cuts his eyes "Sasuke…"
"Kakashi." the sword wielder acknowledging "…ah, but…" the kid was about to bellow put but Sasuke simply put up a single finger to his lips, smiling softly.
The next ten seconds was a blur, Kakashi struck, the kid pulled clear. Twin twisting shredders. An earthquake. Sasuke slips backwards, grasping the child firmly and closely to his chest, reversed gripped sword deflection of three kunai and six shuriken "Just surrender, Sasuke." Kakashi, his burnt left arm and vest cut up "You can come back and…"
"Shut it, Haruno." Sasuke growled as his Sharigan blazing, "I won't go back to that hell hole."
"Language!" The kid whispered causing an involuntary upturned twitch of Sauske's lips "Gatsugua." Kiba erupting from a wreaked shop building "Sasuno!" the purple construct of chakra erupted and knocked apart the group.
Before the leaf team gathered up, Sasuke and his charge had vanished, leaving Kakashi wide eyed and stunned. "That's different."
"Kakashi-sensei!" Sakura lands beside her downed Jonin leader, immediately Kiba arrives with a roughed up Akamaru "He's moving southeast, by east."
"Let's go." Sai mentioned arriving beside the others, finally awakening the shocked Kakashi from his stupor "Yeah. Kiba, take point."
Sasuke lands in a small clearing by the sea, "Itachi…" dropping to a knee "…I need you to summon your falcon." The kid nods and goes through the motions. Behind him Sasuke unseals several supplies, and writes out a note. A poof and a small red beak falcon appeared, handled by little Itachi "Okay, Perrin, I need you to take this and give it to Naruto, he should be in the Land of Spring. It's urgent." Sasuke tying the scroll to the falcons leg "By your word, Lady Satsuki." The bird chirped before Itachi flung him up and he vanished in a streak of red through the sky.
Sasuke immediately grabs Itachi and leaps back to find Kiba in front, Sakura behind him, Akamaru on the left, Sai to the right and Kakashi behind "You're surrounded, Sasuke." Kiba states with authority, smirking the entire time "Can it looser." Sasuke pulling out his blade "Leave now, and you'll live a long life." Sharigan spinning up "Stay, and I'll kill you."
"What about your son's future?" Kakashi speaking up from behind, stunning the group but Akamaru had suspected it from the beginning "Son? That kid?" Sakura gasped "Your chakras are similar but…" Kakashi trails off upon seeing the smirk donning Sasuke's face "Boom." The two in the centre erupt in spectacular fashion, sending dirt, debris and flames in all directions.
The two escaping Uchiha glance back "Ka-chan, are we really going to see Tou-san?" Itachi questioned only for Satsuki Uchiha, formally disguised as Sasuke Uchiha, to nod with a soft smile "He hasn't let me down, not once since we were children." She does half pout as a rather dark trail of thought crosses her mind 'Even after I slammed him with those two chidorii.'
Present time…
Land of Fire; Northern Shore Forests
A skunk of foxes arrived at a hidden cave, deep within the northern forests of fire country. A few yips and two blood red eyes appear from the darkness, one with twin-three tomoe, the second with twin two tomoe "Where to?" the ladies voice. Two yips again, eyes narrowing "I see. Does he know about the hunters?" another three yips and Satsuki steps into the moonlight, a soft smile donning her face (A/N; wearing female version of The Last outfit.) "I thank you for your support. Didn't think he'd come personally though."
The group of foxes all perk up, a low yip and the mother son duo decedent into the darkness, a small squadron of the regiment remains with them, the others scattered throughout. These critters had a gorilla war to fight, and a dog to make look stupid.
Offshore
An Ice breaker vessel by the name of New Season is a prototype steel clad vessel with chakra engines and a modern speed boat look armed with two twin cannons, which is currently rushing towards the Northern Forest of Hi no Kuni, at best possible speed. After it's hurried departure from the Land of Spring, Daimyo aboard, it's high tech engineering allows it unparalleled speed in the water. So much so, that even it's intended escorts can not keep pace indefinitely.
This vessel was currently clearing around Kaminari no Kuni waters and was closing in rapidly to it's destination, however it's VIP passenger was anxious as all hell. "Sir, you'll wreak the plating of you keep pacing like that." Naruto turns to the blue haired man, a piercing pensive look upon his face "Jal. You know as well as I do, Satsuki never asks for help." Blue eyes narrowing "Never."
The blue haired, black eyed scarecrow of a man with more scars than a certain T and I department head, just nods dumbly "Well established, yes."
"So why is she reaching out now?" Naruto pacing back and forth "It's been years since the Karin incident. Surely…"
"Boss. Calm down. You know it wasn't your fault." Jal declares and Naruto actually flinched. A poof of smoke and a red two tailed fox appeared on the table "Report." Naruto turning into his commander mode, all his old Merc buddies knew this mode "Sir, we have made contact…"
"Status?"
"No injuries, just heavily fatigued. Seemed she was caught resting up in a town by the sea." The vixen reports gaining a nod from the blonde haired boy to which the lady continues "However…" hesitation was met with narrowed eyes, causing the two tailed fox to flinch "…she has a boy with her."
Naruto blinked owlishly at that, once, twice, trice before looking to Jal who too looked back at his old boss "A boy?"
"About seven or eight, Sharigan eyes, black hair and stands about four foot one with a speedy build." The fox explains causing Naruto to actually freeze. Silence.
Silence was broken by a low groan that slowly lifted into a growl "Sounds like I'm going to have a little talk with my ol' friend Sasuke…" the other two swore they saw a death head shimmering behind him "…and then tell her that if she ever dares…" currently under review as even the author did not want to scar anyone from this Uzumaki's angry rant.
Some time later.
Naruto stares out at the coastline, eyes travelling across the vast swath of trees and beaches. His ice breaker can't get much closer yet he doesn't need to, his passengers are ninjas. They can run out to them, so he flares his chakra one twice, three times and then falls silent. Hopefully, those involved catch on and he falls back to wait.
A few minutes prior...
"Over there!" a Hyūga clan member called out pointing to a bunch of hills, a chakra trace as the smell of the Uchiha was interlaces all over the forest but the eyes could not be deceived so easily.
On hill at the mouth of the cavern, Satsuki found herself glaring at the encroaching Leaf forces, "Itachi, time to go." glancing back at her son, who was already up and at her side "Ready." they ran off to the north.
Dashing through the trees, Itachi and Satsuki charge whilst going to the north, a chakra flare that Satsuki recognised immediately and smirked, her Uchiha smirk. Darting to the side, blasting towards the north eastern shore, flipped over another kunai "Let's go!" as the last Uchiha lands, facing the forces "Fire Style; Majestic Flame destroyer!" a wall of flames erupts, blocking the path and incinerating everything beyond the fleeing duo.
As the ash and smoke filled the air, the pursuers had to come to a halt in order to douse the flames and embers. It was clear this was to draw their attention away from the fleeing group, having been forced to prevent the growing forest fire expanding any further than necessary.
Naruto noticed the massive wall of flames and he sighs, hand finding itself to his face as he breathes out a heavy sigh "Flame destroyer, really?"
Itachi slid to a stop, the dirt beneath his sandals slipping off the edge of the cliff side. A quick glance down, confirms that this drop is at least fifty metres, before his eyes scan the horizon and surely enough there was a vessel not too far away. Another glance around and the smoke bellowing from his mother's fire attack caused a sigh to escape, typical Uchiha pyrotechnic tendencies. At least that's what auntie said was a thing.
Satsuki lands beside him, as silently as a mouse in a crypt, "Ah, there he is." A smirk as she looks down at her handy work made of her flesh and chakra "Home sweet home."
"Home? I thought…"
"Listen, Itachi…" Satsuki bending down to meet his eye level, "When I, and your father, were growing up…"
"You had to pretend to be a boy…" Itachi cutting off his mother, having heard this more than once in the past twenty-four hours let alone his entire life. A tired sigh before he continued "…and your best friend, my dad apparent…"
"Oi…"
"…were at each other's throats until he saved you after your battle with Uncle Itachi, to whom I am named after…"
"So, that's what happened, huh Sasuke…?" a new voice, one Satsuki knew all too well, as she took a deep breath before returning to her feet "The one-eyed pervert. How quint." Eyes flowing to red as she glances back at the Leaf Jonin "I see you brought more back up." Suddenly the sensei of the former Konoha Eleven all drop down surrounding the group "Mah… mah… Sasuke. Come quietly and your son will…"
"Never set for in that hell hole." Satsuki responded calmly despite Gai moving in to a strike range, "The Uchiha clan has nothing to do with the village that betrayed us."
"They betrayed us first." Kurenai Yuhi announced as she went through various hand signs. A snort from the Ravenette shattered any dignified air she may have excused "There's a difference between planning and doing." Red eyes narrowed "A pre-emptive strike absolutely means nothing then, huh? Guilty for thinking about a brighter future." None had a response to that.
"We're bringing you in." Kakashi stepping towards the duo, "Your son too." Those words triggered the young mother something fierce, mangeko spinning wildly, glowing with malicious intent "You will never touch a single hair on his head." She growled but another even more primal growl caught the entire clearing found itself surrounded by canine eyes, glaring at the Leaf shinobi.
From the shadows of the trees, stepped out numerous silhouettes of foxes of various sizes and colours with numerous numbered of tails. With teeth bore, the Jonin felt the clear threat and was now in two minds about how to handle this. Growls echoed as they seemed to block off any avenue of escape, killing gleams in their eyes, "Kakashi… I don't suppose…"
"Their not mine." The grey-haired man scanning the area counting at least thirty canines, all glaring at him and his teammates. The sound of metal hitting stone, briefly drawing the Jonin's attention only for Kakashi to gaze wide eyed at the three-pronged kunai before a familiar flash, but in place of the yellow flash, it was a white flash instead "Your troublesome, you know that right." The voice was very familiar to the Uchiha Matriarch, her rage replaced with a smile "Your late, baka-dobe."
"N… N… Naruto…" stammering of the leaf Jonin went ignored by the non-leaf shinobi "I told you not to go through Fire country." Naruto growled at her, his anger clear and justified. Before he could continue however, he overheard his summons discussing miming and having their way with the fair skinned female. He turned back at the offending Kitsune and let out an absolute feral growl speaking in canine, fox slang tongue "Talk like that again, and I'll rip your balls off and shov'em down your throat and mail you back to your mother in a casket."
The aggressiveness and the heavy throat usage, caught everyone off guard, none more than the fox in questioned he cowered back significantly, head lowering further "Yes, Uzumaki-sama." Naruto then turned back to Satsuki ahead of him, golden hair and long grey coat flapping in the harsh winds as his arms still crossed and looking unusually regal "You, talk… now."
"I… ah… well… the thing is…" To her credit, Satsuki had just seen 'her man' just dominate another with a hard glare and few words. The misty gold silted eyes, his fox sage mode active, bore into her for a long second before sighing, glancing to the child who was standing who took looked between the two "Is she normally like this?" the boy shook his head negatively.
A sigh escaped from his lips, shoulder slipped slightly, "Fine, whatever…" stepping towards the duo, ignoring the repeated calls to him by the Leaf shinobi but just before "…but don't think I'm done chewing you out. I am so holding you to this." Before pausing, his hands just above her shoulder as he glances back at the skunk of foxes and clicks his fingers and everyone not aligned to the leaf vanished.
Kakashi took a moment to recompose himself as he and his fellow Jonin remained back to back, having previously been surrounded by very aggressive acting horse sized multi-tailed foxes that were ready to rip them apart. "Umm… Kakashi…" Kurenai mutters still unsure what just happened, or if it was even real "…Kurenai…" his equally unsure response "…that just happened; right?"
"It did." He confirmed before letting out the breath he didn't know he had held.
Slap.
A slap echoes far and wide as Satsuki was left stunned with a red hand print aboard the icebreaker New Season, Naruto just staring at her but remaining silent before moving off towards his cabin. She knew, after all this time, that he would be mad. She knew he would be. Yet. That single slap hurt more than even her brother's subconscious torment after he had murdered the clan.
She expected him to yell and scream at her. Perhaps have a good old fashioned all out brawl to vent out his frustrations, or at worse give her the cold shoulder yet. That single slap. It hurt. What made it worse was that he did nothing else but the look of hurt and disappointment was more than enough to convey exactly what he felt. Betrayed.
She had betrayed him yet again.
Then he just walked away. Her heart clenched at that. Why? Why can't she just admit she messed up. Why did her brasher side get the better of her younger self. By now they'd probably be married, had a few more children by now and be happy yet she chose again to betray him. Then again, when he was useful she called upon him and yet again he came running.
Why can't she just be happy?
"Show them to the guest quarters. Feed them well." Naruto orders his second in command, who nodded and approached them as he left them alone again.
Naruto slumped into his seat in his cabin's office space, various official documents of the navy's current progress littered the table. Their rush journey over to rescue Satsuki and her son had kept him up so decided to do some work to pass the time. As an island nation, the Land of Spring must maintain a decent sized Navy and the crew to man them to ensure raiders and pirates don't start pouching the numerous trade transports coming and going.
None of that mattered for the moment though as he had just come face to face with his old flame, and their son. A son he never knew about. Sighing again as he leaned forward, arms folded on the table, his thoughts were going a million miles a minute as to how this would effect everything.
Things were different now, they weren't hormonal teens out in the world with no responsibilities, trained to kill from walking age, but full grown adults with work and people depending on them. At least he is now. Koyuki is expecting again so her workload will be loaded on to him to compensate.
Koyuki.
Another sigh, "She isn't going to like this." Head dropping to his folded arms resting on the table "She really isn't going to like this." Then remembered that the Leaf have an envoy currently back home. A groan this time "I am so dead."
That night Naruto was on the top deck star gazing, a habit he picked up from Haku during their travels, as his ship had finally met up with its two escorts. The small fleet sailed in the calm seas back home as the First Gentleman of Spring pondered both the past and its effect on the near future.
On one hand, his old rival had turned out to be a girl all along and had only known when he had saved her from the masked Uchiha after the clash with her clan slaying kin. She had won at a great mental, physical, and more importantly, emotional strain to which he was able to offer her comfort.
After the burial of the shinobi known and feared as Itachi Uchiha, that he had insisted on, she had spilled out everything to him. Her hidden gender was a result of her father's desire to protect her, disguised on a whim to sire two genius children of the Uchiha and gain infamy, prestige, and influence within the village. Not wanting to disappoint her father, Sasuke Uchiha was born.
The stress of the act, her brother's mental torment, Orochimaru's influence, and her budding feelings for him had forced Satsuki's hand and caused her to go rogue. Her killing off Orochimaru, calmed her growing darkness somewhat but her single mindedness led her to seek out her brother for answers.
The battle of the Uchiha siblings was one for the history books, the attacks thrown around drew Naruto's, and Haku's attention from the next town over, which led to his arrival at the tail end of the conflict, catching Itachi's final words to her "I'm sorry for everything, Satsuki-chan. Your life's your own now…" dying with a smile upon his face.
The Leaf and Hebi teams nearby had engaged both Tobi and Kisame, drawing their attention long enough that Naruto and Haku freeze a path in, swooped up both Uchiha and slipped away largely unnoticed by both parties.
Over the next week, in Naruto's and Haku's hideout in Hidden Eddie village, Satsuki had slowly come to terms with everything with his help and the two had buried Itachi Uchiha on a beautiful wildflower meadow with a headstone of crystal clear, never melting ice holding a torch of flames which burns to this day.
They spent two weeks together within the village where Naruto had talked her out of destroying the Leaf, as it would waste the effort her beloved brother had put to save her from her own curse of hatred. Her feelings for him the final proof she needed.
When Karin arrived later that night, the duo left to places unknown much to Naruto's dismay the next morning but he to left when Haku had returned. That was the last he had seen or heard from her till a few days ago.
A sigh escaped his lips, something he's been doing a lot lately, as he finally sit up and only then noticed his guest and new comer. The two sat in awkward silence, not sure what to say to the other, but it was unnatural for Naruto to be this silent. It wasn't a normal situation though.
"Tou-san…" the raven haired boy began gaining the blonds attention, "…Sochi." His response was equally as hesitant, "…are you really my father? I mean…"
"I have no doubt." Naruto Interrupts, fixing the child with a hardened shinobi gaze which immediately and swiftly extinguishing the budding doubt within the young boys heart. "Besides the obvious facial structure, those faint whisker marks, and your chakra signature is unmistakable; you are my son." a soft smile upon his face.
Tentatively, the boy looked over at the man his mother had told him about countless times with nothing but admiration and love yet when they finally met he slapped her. Anger suddenly flashed, his Sharigan flaring up "Then why did you hurt her than?! Ka-chan, loves you! She fought so hard to get back to you. She tried to do everything to get home to you. Yet you attack her! What is wrong with…?" before he could finish that, a soft chop on his head stopped him both "Language young man" Naruto then sighs. Hard.
Arms refolding, Naruto began again "It's a little complicated, Itachi. It really is." sighing again he continued as his gaze returned to the stars, "Things are going on at a level that you aren't considering, nor familiar with, which is why I am mad; why things have turned out this way. It's even more complicated than simply hugging and making up."
"Like what…?"
"For example…" Naruto began with a soft smile glancing at the now onyx eyes of his son, that reminded him of his own father just with black hair but his fair skin was very clearly his mother's, "…I am a leader of a nation right now, you see." gaining a wide eyed look from the boy. "Now, with your arrival, politics are going to be a pain in my ass." but he smiles "Though, I will face it dead on without flinching…" though for the younger boy noticed the growing dread hanging over his father's shoulder, "…and should hell come down upon us…" he looked dead in his son's eyes "…I'll be sure to protect you."
A soul warming smile upon his face, it gave the boy a geyser of warmth within his chest and for some reason his anger at him had faded away. Is this what meant to have a father?
The remaining two days at sea was tense. Really tense. The whole crew could feel it yet the only one was seemingly unaffected was Itachi, who was routinely seen with either of his parents but never at the same time. He switched between them every few hours, even spent a night with his dad once, and then spent the next day stuck to his mother's side.
It was an unusual equilibrium.
Land of Spring; Agni Military Docks
As the ship entered the hidden royal harbour, Haku was standing at the port edge, his Yuki shinobi at his back saluting as Naruto stepped off first "Report."
"Negotiations have stalled, the lady is not exactly being…" Haku mumbled the last part, Naruto raised an eyebrow "Oh?" reading between the lines, chuckling lightly as they began to move off "I'll take over from here…" he paused before glancing at his brother in all things "…you take care of this, Aniki." Before he and his escorts vanish into ice mirrors.
Haku sighs as the only other people left behind step towards him, the air growing several degrees lower instantly "…Uchiha." His monotone was as cold as artic "Yuki." The Uchiha survivor retorts equally as coldly, the last Yuki turning back to her with a completely blank face "You abhorrent piece of…" he paused noticing the child, "…work have the nerve to call upon him after all this time." Eyes narrowing dangerously "What will it be this time, huh?"
"What Naruto and I…"
"Quiet." He growls interrupting her, stepping closer "Whenever you get involved with my brother and I, I am always left piecing him back together. He was a mess when you left. Colder than our combined Jutsu. Were it not for those he still had…" Haku breathes deeply, Satsuki fully cowed at that trail of thought "Know this, Lady Uchiha, that I nor this land welcome your presence here. For the sake of my brother should you step a single step out of line, in anyway to cause him dismay, I will not hesitate to correct you." The air literally froze around them "Am… I… clear…?!"
Satsuki nodded hesitantly, her pride set aside at this very upfront threat to her life yet a small part was glad her man's brother was only mad at her. Hell. She was mad at her. The younger her. And Karin, for convincing her troublesome self "Crystal." was the only response that felt suitable.
Just like that, the airs warmth returned and he stepped back and bowed "Welcome to Land of Spring, Miss and Mister Uchiha. I will show you to the train. Your accommodation has been prepared." Before turning swiftly and leading them further through the hidden naval base. "Ka-chan…" Itachi whispered "Sochi…" whispered back Satsuki "Are you sure this was the right thing to do?"
"Positive. We couldn't stay there. We are at least safe here. " She looks down at him with a sad smile "Your father will protect us. He always has and always will." Before following after the last Yuki.
Land of Spring; Palace
Naruto arrives in good time to the palace to find the penultimate meeting between his homeland and realm about to start again. He sighed, yet again, and considered to slip past and go to his room to sleep. Shaking his head of the thought of leaving his hime to the preverbal wolves of politics, he swiftly sets off to make his presence known.
In the throne room, Naruto enters to find his wife currently discussing their guests delaying tactics and how to break the stalemate as cleanly as possible for them. Naruto's arrival was welcomed by all, as he rapidly approached and hugged his wife firmly and with a passionate kiss that caused all to look away.
Upon letting her feet touch down once more, Koyuki noticed the change in behaviour and knew something was bothering him thus it was only natural when she dismissed the whole room. No one objected.
The room now clear, she asked the burning question "What's wrong koi?"
"Everything." He whispered causing a raised eyebrow as he leads her to a nearby table and chairs. Once seated he looks at her, pain and grief flowing over his face "I love you so much, ya know. I love the family you gave me. I love the life you've given me. The people, the land, every single person in our land are precious people to me who I have vowed to defend."
Koyuki was now very worried about him, she remembered the first time he had come back to her. Six years ago when he and Haku had responded to her call for aide. That Naruto back then was but a shell of his former self. His shimmering eyes when he saved her had dulled and was as cold as the winter night.
After the first mission she had confronted him, he gently side stepped the questions but she was nothing but persistent and forced him down and told him to speak. It took awhile to break through to him, several months in fact, but eventually she was able to tear apart his walls and he unravelled into a sobbing mess right before her eyes.
It took years for the shimmer to return, Haku was a great help with that as he wasn't always in Spring country as the two were mercenaries for hire. Eventually Haku had managed to convince him to make Spring their base of operations and she managed to finally pull out that old charming side of him.
Their daughter was born shortly not even six months after their wedding and him hanging up his sword, at her suggestion to be happy wAnd healthy for their growing family.
Then it hit her. The only person to get through her husbands defences like this. She growls "I see." Pausing the diatribe Naruto was rambling on about "I'm already in a bad mood so let's get this sorted now rather than later." getting up, pulling him up too "Guards!" two Snowflakes, Springs Anbu force, land before her "Summon our guests. I believe they are with Haku, knowing him."
"Yes ma'am." They both vanished and she turns to the Samurai who arrived "Inform the envoys that today's meeting is on hold for internal affairs or something. I don't particularly care just I don't want to see them yet." Koyuki states waving them off and they bow "At once." Before jogging off to pass the message. Then turning back to Naruto "Koi, go shower and clean up. No doubt the kids are causing trouble for Honoka and the maids."
Naruto just stares at her in awe. Wordlessly he jumped to his feet and passionately the two made out before he pulled back, a soft smile on his face "Have I told you how much I love you?" she smirks with a slight head tilt to the left "On occasion." He pecks her softly "I love you." Her smile was radiant "…and I you."
An hour later…
Kushina and Sosetu, Naruto's two kids with Koyuki, were exactly what the doctor ordered. The former merc turned first gentleman was in bliss as he read a book with his youngest, Sosetu, whilst Kishina was braiding his long dark blond hair. This was the scene Koyuki walked in on and a smile forced it's way through her turbulent feelings about confronting the past if her husband before her.
'Just for a bit' she thought to herself as she stepped into the greenhouse, not as Daimyo of the land but as Mrs Koyuki Kazehana; mother and wife.
Haku's poker face was really getting a work out today. Just after leading Satsuki and her son to their accommodations within the castle town, two of his snowflakes has told him the Lady Kazehana wanted an audience with his guests. After acknowledging the instructions, he returned to the apartment and collected the duo once more.
Arriving at the gate, he was met with the Leaf contingent being denied access to the castle by the order of the Daimyo. Summoning his Snowflakes nearby, the Leaf team stepped aside and allowed the trio to enter.
Just as he thought things were going to be fine, the female Hyūga yelled to wait which caused a tick mark to appear briefly before Haku ruthlessly squashed it. Turning back to the Leaf team "What?" his irritation oozing like syrup but noted that the woman was glaring at his charges "Your chakra signature is familiar."
Thankfully his charge didn't even speak, just shrugged before turning and stepping past the guards who promptly blocked off the route and Haku led them to the private area of the castle.
Arriving at the double doors out to the inside garden, he swivels on his heels and stares directly into Satsuki's eyes "Before we enter let me remind you of a few things." Satsuki just nodded, unknowingly gripping her son's hand tighter "Naruto had a hard time getting to this point and for that, we have his precious people to thank for that." His eyes narrow to near slits "Raise a ruckus or cause potential harm, I will act. No ifs, buts, nor or's. Accept what is given and do not cause trouble."
She nods, heart in her throat as she has a gut feeling she really isn't going to like whatever is beyond those doors. A small tug on her arm draws her attention to the pained look on Itachi's face to which she lets up her grip "Sorry, Sochi…" she whispered to which he simply nodded back.
The doors part drawing the two families attention as Haku steps into view "I have brought them, Lady Daimyo…" looking to Naruto "…Lord Kazehana." Naruto resists with all his might not to snort, knowing this was required before any non-family members which meant. He gulped as his fingers intertwine with his wife's who's eyes harden 'Showtime' Koyuki thought as her actress mode came to life.
In steps the lady of the hour, Satsuki Uchiha with her son at her side and as her onyx orbs land on the group she froze. Naruto was hand in hand with Koyuki Kazehana, the Daimyo actress they saved during their tenure within Team Seven back in the leaf, but that wasn't all.
On his lap sat a three-year-old baby faced toddler that had his father's whisker marks, short dark blond hair was much like his mother's but those light blue eyes were unmistakably Naruto's. The Uchiha's eyes then turn to Koyuki, she hadn't aged a day since they last met at least at first glance. Her figure seemed to have grown in certain areas, she idly noticed that she seemed bustier, but overall seemed to have kept up with her looks.
It was then she noticed the young girl at her side, a near twin with her mothers overall looks with a red tint in her dark hair. She lacked the whiskers of her father but that facial structure couldn't fool anyone.
A pang of jealousy, guilt, and regret bloomed within the Matriarch heart at the sight of the family, completely ignoring the red head off to the side on the bench beside the family of four.
On the other side, Koyuki immediately noticed the similarities between Sasuke and this woman she knew as Satsuki. She had heard about her situation and a part of her sympathises with the woman but her time had come and gone, the bridge long turned to ash. Eyes flowing down to the child in hand, and it wouldn't take a genius to figure out his father as he wad very much reminiscent of her husband just with paler skin, and black eyes and hair.
A tremble in her hand drew her attention to her husband who was very clearly taking her acting lessons to heart, a neutral smile was perfectly donning his features masking his unease at the situation as their son glanced up from his book at the new comers.
Clearing her throat, Koyuki opened up "It's been awhile since we last saw each other Sasuke Uchiha; or should I refer to you as Satsuki Uchiha now?" her tone was welcoming but lacked any real warmth as after all, she was the one who tore her husband down to which she had to painstakingly build back up. Child or not, she had to be hard here "Satsuki will be fine; and yes, it has been a long time." Satsuki responds flatly despite the lump in her throat, stinging in the back of her eyes.
"My husband…" Koyuki began and no one, not even the kids, missed the suppressed flinch from the Uchiha, "…had told me you had arrived and I felt we should tackle this…" gesturing between the six of them "…which I feel needed to be settled immediately, so no bad blood nor politics could poison our wells."
Satsuki nodded at that, despite everything, it was prudent to clear the air as the last thing she wanted was some upstart trying to use her son for a grand scheme of some kind "Very well." And led Itachi towards a prepared seating, directly opposite the Kazehana's.
The three parts of the family sat together in the internal garden of wildflowers, Kazehana, Yuki, and Uchiha all in one place. Haku sat with his wife, the kids playing between them all "So…" Honoka began earning the collective attention "…we are the Yuki family, I am Naruto's third cousin and wife to Haku Yuki, his blood brother." Naruto couldn't help it. He laughed. Hard. Honoka glared at him, Koyuki smirked with mirth "Sorry… sorry… hearing you speak formally…" his laugh broke the growing tension for better or worse.
"Let's go back to basics…" Naruto speaking up, clapping to gain everyone's attention "…and introduce ourselves; I'll go first. I am Naruto Kazehana-Uzumaki. Likes; Family, friends, and Spring Country. Dislikes; Snakes…" a soft snort from the Uchiha, "…Konohagakure, and those who dared threaten my family. Dreams…?" he smiles softly "…to lead the country to prosperity and defend my family."
Looking around for a moment he continued "When I say family, I mean every single one of you, samurai and shinobi included." Said guards stiffen, glancing to him seeing him nod a warmth bellowed within them all "You all are the country, the country is what I am here to defend just as you all defend my own on a daily basis. You all have my eternal thanks for that."
Koyuki smiled a million watt smile at the performance of her husband, instantly raising the moral of her – their people, lighting the fires of loyalty with but a few simple words.
A/N: This is yet another side story I came up with during my downtime amidst writers blocks among the other stories. I came across a few that weren't cringe and thoroughly enjoyed and wanted to try it. One of my favourites I've come across, is a and Naruto joining Kumo. Utilising the two themes along with my favourite banishment vibes and I came up with this. Dunno if I'll continue it until I finish one of the my favorites.
