April takes Jackson to her high school reunion.
Jackson and April were in April's hometown of Moline for April's high school reunion. The night before the reunion, Jackson and April were at April's parents' house. And they had just finished eating.
"Mrs. Kepner that tasted delicious," Jackson said.
"Thank you," Karen said. "And you can just say Karen."
"I will do that," Jackson said.
"Your mother and I are heading to the town for a bit," Joe said.
"We'll just finish up here," April said.
"Thank you, dear," Joe said.
Joe and Karen left the house. Jackson and April cleared the table, did the dishes and when everything was done they went up to April's room. Once they were in April's room Jackson and April began kissing each other as they walked toward April's bed.
Jackson pulled away for a moment. "Are you looking forward to tomorrow?"
"If I'm honest I'm not looking forward to it at all," April told him.
"Why not?" Jackson asked.
"My high school days were not fun, I was bullied and I was an ugly duckling," April said.
"You shouldn't say that about yourself," Jackson said.
"But it's the truth," April said.
"You are beautiful, Jackson said to April, he gave her a kiss. "A beautiful, badass, trauma surgeon."
"You're sweet," April said.
"Hey and if one of the bullies starts messing with you, they're going to have to deal with me," Jackson said.
"I have the best husband in the world."
April gave Jackson a kiss and then they got into her bed and continued kissing, slowey removing each other's clothes. A few hours later, the two were asleep.
The next day. Jackson had changed clothes; he was wearing a light blue shirt, a dark blue tie, gray pants and black shoes. April was doing her makeup and she was wearing a dark blue floral dress, with black strap heels underneath.
April put away her makeup and turned to Jackson. "I'm ready."
"You look great," Jackson said.
"Thank you," April said to him and she give him a quick kiss. "You look great, too."
"Are you ready?" Jackson asked.
"I'm nervous though, I'm super afraid of coming face to face with my bullies," April said.
"Hey, everything's gonna be fine," Jackson said. "And look at you, Everyone's gonna be blown away by how great you look."
"Thank you."
"Shall we?"
April linked her arm with Jackson's and together they left the house and headed for April's old school.
After a 15 minute drive, Jackson and April were at the school and April gave Jackson a little tour.
"And this here is where the Glee club is," April said.
"And were you a member?" Jackson asked.
"No."
"No?"
"No, I wasn't a member," April said to him.
"You have a great voice, you'd be perfect," Jackson said.
"I really wanted to join on one hand, but my stage fright got in the way," April said. "Let's go to the gymnasium."
"Lead the way," Jackson said.
April took Jackson to the gymnasium, which was all decked out for the reunion. April walked up to the table and there was a pass with her old school picture on it and she was not happy when she saw it. Reluctantly, April attached the photo to her collar of her dress
Jackson looked at the picture. So this is you in high school."
"I warned you, I really was an ugly duckling," April said.
"I don't think you were an ugly duckling April," Jackson said.
"You're only saying that because you're my husband," April said.
"I'm saying it because it's the truth," Jackson said.
April looked around a bit and saw a small club of people standing and they were waving at her.
"Who are they?" Jackson asked.
"Some old friends of mine, we were in a club together," April said.
"What kind of club?"
"Promise not to laugh?"
"I promise."
"The book club."
"And did you like it?" Jackson asked.
"Yes," April said.
That's the most important thing, it doesn't matter what other people think, as long as you had fun, Jackson said.
"I'm gonna go say hi to them," April said.
"Go, I'm just gonna look around," Jackson said.
"I'll bring you some punch later," April said.
"Okay, Jackson said.
After catching up with her old book club, April reached the punch bowl and grabbed some punch for her and Jackson. April heard footsteps coming her way, she looked to the side and saw three women walking toward her. April recognized the women right away they were Ashley, Kelsey and Tiffany, her bullies from before.
"April Kepner," Kelsey said.
"Kelsey Howard," April said.
Kelsey showed her hand to April, with a diamond ring on her ring finger. "It's Barret now."
"You're married to Bryan Barret?"
"Yep."
April looked at the other two women. "Ashley, Tiffany."
"Kepner," Ashley said.
"I see you have a ring on your finger," Tiffany noticed.
"So you're married?" Kelsey asked.
"Yes, I'm," April said.
"And is your husband here?" Kelsey asked.
"He's here," April said.
"Oh my god," Ashley said.
"What is it?" Tiffany asked.
"Look at that handsome hunk over there," Ashley said pointing to Jackson.
"Did he go to school with us?" Tiffany asked.
"I don't think so, I won't forget such a handsome face," Kelsey said.
"He's coming this way," Ashley said.
Jackson walked towards April and the three women.
"Hello," Jackson greeted.
"Hi," Ashley greeted.
"And who are you?" Kelsey asked.
"Jackson Avery, Jackson said.
"Kelsey."
"Ashley."
"Tiffany."
"I have here your..."
"Kepner go away, we need with to have a talk with this handsome hunk, we can have a dork like like you with us," Kelsey said.
"Hey, don't talk to my wife like that," Jackson said.
"Your wife?" Ashley asked.
"April is your wife?" Tiffany asked.
"Yeah, April is my wife" Jackson said.
Kelsey and her friends looked at April. "You're married to this hunk?"
"Yes, I'm."
"Are you an actor?" Ashley asked.
"What kind of stupid question is that?"
"You can honestly admit it, Kepner hired you to play her husband," Ashley said.
"She did not, I'm not an actor. I'm a doctor like her," Jackson said.
"Hard to believe a dork like April Kepner married someone so handsome," Tiffany said.
Jackson looked at April and saw that she was not happy and he himself was not happy either.
"What is your deal?" Jackson asked.
"What are you talking about?" Tiffany asked.
"Why are you bullying April?" Jackson asked.
"We're just teasing her," Kelsey said.
"It's just a joke," Ashley said.
"I don't see her laugh about it and I'm not laughing either," Jackson said.
"Jackson, leave it," April said.
"No, they need to hear the truth for once," Jackson said. "You're a bunch of pathetic women."
"Excuse me!" Kelsey said.
"What did you just call us?" Ashley asked.
"You heard me, you guys are pathetic and to make youself feel better you have to make other people feel pathetic too, that's just sad," Jackson said.
Kelsey, Ashley and Tiffany went completely silent and had nothing to say back. Jackson looked at April, she had gone a little quiet herself.
"Do you want to dance?" Jackson asked, holding out his hand to April.
"I would like to dance," April said.
April took Jackson's hand and they walked toward the dance floor.
"Thank you," April said.
"No problem," Jackson said.
"I'm so happy to have such a wonderful husband like you," April said.
April gave Jackson a kiss.
"And aren't you glad you came to your school reunion?" Jackson asked.
"With you here now, definitely," April said.
April smiled, laying her head against Jackson's chest and dancing happily with her husband.
