Linux Foster, a 23 year old young man, was scrolling through the Steam reviews of the latest mod he was about to install in that new MMO game he got. It was on sale so he decided to buy it for a couple of bucks. He had already one mod installed, called The No Observer mod. Thinking it sounded funny he installed it and now he was about to install the realism Mod. The reviews looked good actually, a little to good but Linux didn't pay it to much attention as he clicked on download.

"Alrighty, mods downloaded and active. I'm ready to go and save the world. Funny how it said, make the game 100 times more realistic. I bet they don't even have the newest engine on that game. I just hope the graphics ain't gonna be to shabby", he said to himself as he clicked on the launcher icon of the Game. The loading screen enveloped his screen, with four knight looking dudes standing on a hill of monster bodies. There was no title or anything indicating that his PC was doing anything.

"Damn potato PC. It's really time i get myself one of these fancy things. Or better, just jump over to console. Wont have these issues anymore. At least i think".

Linux decided to restart his aging PC, but the problem was, he couldn't get back to his home screen. "Oh fuck you", he groaned as he stood up and walked around his table to get to the power cable and pull that one out. He tugged on it, but the cable didn't budge.

"You motherfucking..." With another hard tug, the Cable came off and sent Linux flying into the wall.

"Ahh shit!", he yelled as he came back to his senses. "I hate you, you fucking piece of shit", he continued and kicked the side of his PC. Bad decision since his toe was now hurting like hell. "OH FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!". Linux held his foot as the pain radiated from it.

He soon forgot his pain though when he noticed that his screen was still lit brightly in the same colors as before. The same knights, same setting. The only thing off was that there was a small little window open inside the screen.

"What the hell... i cut the power... why are you...", Linux concentrated on the text written inside the small window. "Are you ready for a exciting adventure into the unknown. Yes or no?", he read out loud, hovering his cursor over the, "No".

"What is happening? I cut the damn power... anyways. No i'm obviously not ready", he said with a smirk and mounted his Razer headset, "Now. I'm ready", he added with a cocky grin as he clicked on yes. A bright flash engulfed his entire room. A confused grunt escaped his mouth before he was suddenly gone. The Gaming chair he just sat on was empty, only his scent remaining.

"Oh shiiiIIIIIT!". Linux felt like he was falling with a constantly rising velocity. He had no idea which direction he was falling towards or what he was landing on since his entire Vision was occupied by confusing pictures. Witches, Wizards, Knights where the first figures he could make out, then it started to get confusing when he saw a modern day Soldier, a Tank and even some Planes. His Vision turned back to black as the velocity increased even further.

Linux looked down and in between his screams of confusion and Panic noticed a small white dot approaching and getting bigger with each passing second. Realizing he was traveling through some kind of worm hole, he braced himself for Impact.

"Breath Linux... Breath!! FUCK!". Suddenly all sounds around him came to a abrupt end. He didn't notice but he remained Screaming for half a minute after he made Impact. To his shock, he remained completely unscathed. With his speeds he had while falling, death would have been impossible to escape. Maybe he's living his last seconds and all his bones are broken.

"Ahh... Fucking... alright, i can still move everything like i could before. This means no, i'm not dying. Yet at least".

After making sure, everything was at its right place he slowly stood up and looked around. He found himself in a small clearing in the middle of a Forest. Next thing he noticed was the usual soft padding of his Razer headset disappeared and was replaced by something clenching a little harder down his skull. Reaching up, it was clear he had another Headset on but it wasn't any he had ever felt before.

He took it off and the second he laid his eyes on it he immediately knew what he was wearing. "Peltor...", he exclaimed under his breath. He indeed was wearing the Peltor Comtac 3 Headset. The hearing protection was connected via PTT cable to a Radio. The latter sitting on the Chest rig he just discovered he was wearing.

"Observer this Station, we're preparing to send you Fire support but you need to get us your Identification Code first. Over".

Hearing a faint voice crackle through the Headset, Linux set it onto his head again, adjusting everything for him to wear properly and comfortably before speaking into the microphone.

"H... Hello? I... is there someone?".

"Observer this is Station, we can't send you anything without your ID code. Over". The male voice that came over the radio sounded oddly familiar, but Linux couldn't pin point it from where he heard it. He went through his mind, searching for every Game, Movie he played or Watched, until he landed on one. Insurgency Sandstorm. The guy over the radio sounded exactly the same as "Station" from Insurgency Sandstorm. Linux even had the same class "Observer" like in the Game. Then it hit him. This was probably because of the Mod he installed. And then there was the whole situation with the realism mod.

"Shit... what should i do now? I can't just...".

Starting to search his backpack for any clues he found a book and a Map. He rubbed his chin and took the map first. When he unfolded it a hologram materialized in front of his face. All places where hidden behind a question mark and the area around where greyed out.

"Observer, this is station. We see you just found the Map. You have to discover places first for them to be shown on the map. Try to find minor places of interest since they have many hidden treasures. Yellow marked pins on your map are main mission markers", a yellow pin suddenly came down from seemingly nowhere and hit the castle area, "there will also be orange and green pins. The orange pins will be mission related side quests and the green ones are unrelated side missions. Just to get experience points so to say. If you have questions just call us up. And try to find that ID code. Station out".

Linux listen intently, trying to memorize everything the voice inside the radio said. "What fucking ID code..." , Linux asked himself before Keying the PTT button, "Station, this is observer. Where can i find that ID code?".

Not even a second later came the response, "You have to complete the first mission. When you do, there will be one of our Operators waiting for you. He will lead you to it. Station out".

"Roger, thank you Station. Observer Out". Linux scratched his head trying to make something out of that map. It looked like it came straight out of the Pentagon, completely and utterly redacted.

"Alright, i'm getting nowhere with this, let's check that Book", Linux closed the map and with that the Hologram disappeared into nothingness. Tucking the map neatly into one of the many pouches on his backpack, he now took out the Book. It looked old, with the leader cover almost falling apart. His eyes widened when he read the title.

"Magical spells lexicon...", he traced a finger over the title before opening the first page.

"Chapter 1, Simple casting spells. Always say, 'I cast...' to make the spell work. Every mage or Wizard has a limited amount of mana. These spells have the lowest Cooldown time and require the lowest amount of mana ".

The first couple of spells where pretty ordinary magical spells one would find in any Fantasy movie, game or book. Most of the spells in the first page are light attack spells like a fireball, lightning bolt or ice spike. While flicking through the pages, Linux noticed the spells gaining more lethality, like the Meteorite strike or the Hellfire. Reading about the two spells he found out there is a required level to use these spells. The fireball being the lowest in power is free to use with any level. The Meteorite strike was the most powerful of the "normal" spells and thus had a required level of 45.

After flicking through more pages he got to Chapter two, Complicated Casting spells. "These spells have a much longer cooldown time than the simple spells and they will drain your mana much faster". Linux eyes almost popped out of his sockets when he read the first spell, "Magus Dumpus. This spell will shoot 17 rounds of 9x19mm parabellum in a quick succession. It isn't very accurate so don't use it to snipe people. Its very effective in a close quarters environment like a hallway".

"What the actual...", he flicked through the pages and red the names of the spells out loud, "45 sole killer, nifty fifty, Trench broom, quickscope. Holy shit, this is... more levels?". Just now he noticed that each complicated spell had not only a required level but also they had a level on their own. All of them where currently locked and on level one and would go up to level three once upgraded. Not all though. There where a handful of them which went up to level four, or in this case it was actually called ultimate skill.

"So if i level up the magus dumpus for example i get at level two a what looks like extended mag and at level three a... ITS A FUN SWITCH. YES! And level four is... locked. Hmm, i can't see it. Anyways, i need level 5 to unlock Magus dumpus, what level am i on now...", Linux keyed the PTT, "Station, this is observer. Where can i see my level?".

"Observer, this is Station. Look up to the far right corner of your view. There's a icon, click on it. Station out". Linux did as instructed and looked up. Indeed, there was a icon with the letters LVL written on a shield. He tried to touch it but had no success. It seemed the icon was only inside hs vision. "He said to click on it...", said Linux and scratched his head. "Maybe if i...", he concentrated his gaze on the icon. Suddenly a loading bar appeared underneath it. Once filled completely a window appeared in front of his face.

"Observer this is Station, we just saw you discovered the inventory. I'll guide you through it so listen up. On the left top corner you see your personal information, stats and level with the XP bar. You can see what armor you're wearing and the effects you have on you. On he right corner you have your Skill-tree. You can switch between three skill-trees. The first one, the one you're looking at is the Magic spells tree. You can level up this tree to boost your magical abilities. The second tree is the fire support tree. If you level that one up you can upgrade your fire support system including us. And the last tree is your physical abilities. Level that one up to boost your health, strength and endurance. On the lower half of the window you see your inventory. The first slot down in the left corner is the item you have in your hand. You also have a quick change inventory. You can put four items into that one and quickly switch in between items. By leveling the Physical abilities skill tree you can go from four items up to ten. Alright Observer, that's it for now. Stay safe out there. Station out".

"Thanks station", he replied and went back to his book. After flicking through the remaining casting spells he cane to the summoning spells. With them, there was no Simple or complicated. These spells where hardcore. The first summoning being literally a squad of Marines. The name of the spell being Semper Fidelis. And these spells weren't getting any weaker.

Just out of interest, Linux jumped to the last page if the Summoning chapter, "Mother ship?", he thought to himself and began to read the description. "A futuristic autonome mothership, capable of providing Close air support or deploy R.A.P.S. units. What the hell is a RAPS?".

Walking through the forest, Linux had set the castle as his new destination. On the map it showed that it'll be a three hour walk and on the way there where red clouds. He had no idea what these clouds meant but he thought of them being enemies, just like in Ghost recon.

He had his fireball casting spell ready in the back of his mind, the problem being, he had no idea where the ball would come out.

Linux suddenly ducked behind a tree when a bush in front of him started rustling. After the rustling stopped he took a small peak around the tree and gazed at the bush.

"Wait, i'm a all mighty wizard, why am i afraid of a bit of rustling? I have the perfect weapon against rustling bushes. I CAST, NAPALM STRIKE!".

He held his palm outstretched and aimed at the bush, glaring at it. But... nothing happened. "Huh? I thought the book said 'Say i cast' before saying a spell".

The rustling began again and Linux jumped back behind the tree. "I cast fireball", he whispered and a small ball of fire appeared floating above his palm. "Huh? So this works now?! What is this bullshit, can't even summon a Napalm strike", he mumbled under his breath.

"No way in hell, that there's no Napalm strike", he said and threw the fire ball a couple of feet away from him, unknowingly starting a Fire.

He rummaged through his backpack again, trying to find the book. "Ha! There you are", he grabbed the book and opened it, jumping right to the alleged Napalm strike he saw earlier.

"It's called Sticky fire strike?! Why?!", he yelled out and went on to read the descriptions.

"Ah yes, of course the name Napalm is fucking Copyright-Protected...", said Linux with a dumbfounded look.

He kept reading through the page and found more stuff before his attention was drawn away to a odd smell lingering in the air.

"Is something bur... SHIT ITS A FOREST FIRE!", he said and jumped up onto his feet and bolted away towards the objective.

"How could this... oh no...", revelation hit him like a truck as he remembered throwing the magical ball of fire into the vegetation. "Stupid Linux. Very very stupid", he berated himself while slapping his face. "You should know not to play with fire in a a forest", he added while dodging trees at his full speed.

As Linux sprinted through the forest, dodging trees and cursing his own recklessness, he couldn't help but find the situation oddly reminiscent of a video game. Except, this time, there were real consequences to his actions. As he raced towards the castle, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was living out his very own fantasy adventure, albeit with a touch of humor and a lot of action. With each step, he realized that the line between reality and fantasy was blurrier than ever before. And so, with determination and a hint of regret for starting a forest fire, Linux Foster continued on his quest, ready to face whatever challenges came his way in this strange new world.

Finally leaving the forest behind him, Linux paused to catch his breath and take in the majestic sight before him. In the distance behind some hills, Towering walls, looming battlements, and a sense of history permeated the air. But there was no time to marvel at the architecture, he had a mission to complete and an ID code to find.

He climbed over the last hill that obscured the view to the whole castle town. His jaw dropped at the sight of the massive walls, stained with craters created by siege engines and arrows sticking from it.

"Alrighty... there we go", he checked his map one last time, to check the location of the pin, just to find the whole area of the castle freed from the grey fog, obscuring his vision.

"Observer this is Station, you are approaching mission area. Over".

Linux keyed his PTT, "Station, this is Observer. Care to tell me something about this place?", he asked as he inspected all the guard towers and the massive Gate guarded by what must have been at least two dozen guards.

"Observer this is Station, negative. No ID code. We can't give you any intel. Station out".

"Fuck's sake", Linux muttered under his breath and kicked a pebble out of the way as he made his way towards the Gate.

As Linux closed in, he was stopped by some guards roaming around the Gate area. "Hey you! Stop right there. Identify yourself".

Linux stopped in his tracks and stared at the pointy tips of the various spears and Swords pointed at him. One of the guards approached but suddenly everything stopped abruptly.

The guard stopped mid sentence and Linux couldn't move either. His body didn't move, but his mind was racing.

Suddenly his view darkened and a little window popped up in front of him.

"Do you want to bring peace under the rule of this kingdom or do you wish to go your own Path as a powerful mage and explorer"

"I only take orders from God and from no fucking kingdom", he said to himself and everything went back to normal and a big Title appeared over his head.

"Level-1, Traveler"

"Who are you?!", the guard shouted again, now louder, effectively shaking Linux out of his stupor.

"You can call me... the American Wizard"
