"What would you like, sir?"
Tori attempted a smile at the greasy looking man in an unwashed blue tee who had sat down in her section of the restaurant, eyeing her ever since he was outside in the queue. "I want the fried hot dog bun. Make the hot dog a super long one, with extra mayo. And a strawberry wahoo punch."
When she returned with his drink, the man brushed his hand against hers as she put the beverage down on the table. Tori quickly retracted her hand, grimacing as she quickly searched for an excuse to run to the kitchen. "I'll return with your entrée soon, sir."
As Tori was serving his gooey meal on a plate, her customer knocked his drink onto her, drenching her shirt. She jumped up and started moving to the bathroom to clean up, but as soon as her back was turned, she felt a hand grab her rear. Shocked, she turned back to stare at him, only to be greeted with a grin. "Just wanted to make sure that your skirt's not wet."
Running to the bathroom in tears, Tori took a few deep breaths and splashed water onto her face. She fished out her phone from her bra to distract herself, but her heart sank as she read a new text from her sister.
Hey Tor, I'm going out to a party tonight. Can't pick you up. Later!
Mentally running through her friends list, she groaned as she realized that Jade was the only person who would potentially be free, considering that André's grandma was in the hospital for a gardening accident, Beck was back in Canada and Robbie was back at his mom's home.
With a loud sigh, Tori locked the screen of her phone, leaving her typed out message unsent as she decided that she wasn't in the mood to deal with Jade for the night.
A few hours later, as she was cleaning up the last table, Tori noticed the nasty customer loitering outside the restaurant's parking lot, flashing her a toothy smile when he spotted her looking at him. With shaking fingers, she pulled out her phone, pressing 'Send' to her frenemy.
To her immense relief, ten minutes later, a familiar black mustang pulled up in the parking lot just outside the building. Tori rushed straight to the car as she heard footsteps behind her, slamming the door shut as Jade sped away.
Bringing her arms around Jade, she squeezed her 'friend' as hard as she could, trying to control the tears streaming down her face. "Thank you so much for coming, Jade."
Jade patted her back with her free hand. "Come on, Vega, I'm driving. Get your sticky hands off me. I didn't save you from one horror so the both of us can end up in body bags. We're going back to my house so I can watch you cry the entire night."
