Chapter Fourteen

A/N: I do not own anything other than my OCs when they come out to play. Everything else belongs to either Disney or the Greek Myths!

You know, I don't know which is crazier—the fact that we're already 14 chapters into a 70 chapter fic or that we're 21 reviews away from 150 reviews? Either way, both are amazing and I couldn't have done it without you guys! Thank you so much!

Just a fair warning, updates might become a bit spaced out since here in the States, we've got the 4th of July this weekend (Happy Early Canada Day to my Canadian readers) and then I've got to prep for a vacation I'm taking the first week of September. Yes I know it's only June but time does fly!

I'm not saying there won't be any updates but that updates might not be every week or so for a while. :D

OceanBlueSeaEyes: lol yeah something tells me that the girls are going to have plenty of questions soon enough :D

AmethystDragon14: Yay! Yep, we've got a baby Godling on her way! And I approve as well! And dunno if you noticed but Emir and Akiho are also on their way! Auradon better prepare themselves for that chaos lol :D

The Christian Dino: Glad you enjoyed the chapter! :D

twilightgirl587: Trust me, my head's just as full of ideas as I'm sure your's is! :D

KaraLiz456: To avoid spoiling anything for future readers, I'm just going to say that anything's a possibility!

danifan3000: I mean, for Elle, I doubt she'd want her family and their friends living on the Isle. Ben's not the only kindhearted royal in Auradon after all :D

Flaresouth: Hey, nothing wrong with more than three kids (speaking as an only child) but my mother had four siblings and I've got six cousins so I've seen the insanity that multiple siblings can bring. Plus, on the Isle, more kids means more people to worry about. Not that Hades wouldn't want more kids with Persephone but parents are going to worry about their kids.

Guest1612: Hey, anything's possible! :D

Unknown Person67: I'm so glad you're enjoying the fic! Hope you enjoy this chapter!

BriarEvans: Yep! The Rotten Four's final member is on the way! :D

Hope you guys enjoy this chapter! Let me know what you think! :D

A couple of months, maybe three to be precise, went by after Persephone arrived home and life seemed to go by as normal. Jess, Harriet, and Sammy loved the fact that Persephone was back, and Milah seemed to appreciate Persephone always being willing to do something with the girls.

It probably wasn't easy being pregnant and having to deal with the twin whirlwinds that were Jess and Harriet. Not to mention Sammy added to the chaos somewhat, even if she was more of a calming presence that got scooped up by the insanity that was Harriet and Jess, but Persephone didn't seem to mind all that much.

So it was to Hades' surprise one day when he found his wife lying on their bed, the door shut.

"Steph?" Hades asked, poking his head in after knocking softly on the door. Harriet and Jess had been asking him where she was since normally they'd be on a walk by this time. And it definitely wasn't like Persephone to sleep in.

"Hmm? Oh Hades," Persephone said and lifted up her head as she looked over at him. "Is something wrong?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing," Hades said as he walked into their room, closing the door behind him.

Hey, he might like having the sunspots around but that didn't mean he wanted his conversation with his wife to be interrupted by them.

"Of course…everything's fine," Persephone said.

"You sure Steph?" Hades asked as he sat down next to Persephone. "You're normally not this lethargic."

"Hades, there's not much that could take down a God," Persephone said, giving him a small smile. "I'm probably just adjusting to the lack of sun from the barrier. It always takes a while for me to bounce back after all."

"Steph, it normally takes you a couple of weeks," Hades said, keeping his voice gentle. "It's been months since you got back. You normally are all adjusted by now. Nothing happened over in Boreadon did it? You didn't get attacked? No one…no one managed to recreate the de-Goding potion and slip it in your drink did they?"

Persephone shook her head, smiling slightly at her husband's worry. Not because she was amused but because she was touched at how much he cared about her. "I'm fine Hades, I swear. Besides, you know how protective my mother is. If that was even a possibility, she'd likely have the nymphs on her farms test every beverage I could possibly come into contact with. I'll just need a nap and then I'll be right as rain. Promise."

"Alright," Hades said and gently kissed the top of Persephone's head before heading out of the room, making sure to close the door behind him as to ensure that Persephone got rest.

"Is Auntie Steph okay?" Jess asked as Hades walked into the den. Harriet and Jess were busy coloring with crayons and paper that Persephone had brought back while Sammy was taking a nap of her own.

Hence the coloring. The twins might have been whirlwinds but they were respectful of others' naptimes. Mainly because Milah had set the rule multiple times that if they acted up when someone was taking a nap, then they'd go down for a nap themselves.

"She just needs a nap," Hades said.

"Oh…"

Harriet shook her head. "Why would you want to take a nap? At least Sammy had to take her's because Auntie Mollie told her to."

Milah shook her head from her spot on the sofa, before rubbing her stomach. "I can certainly sympathize with her there, this little crew mate of ours has been so energetic at night it's like I'm barely getting any rest."

"Mama, are me and Jessie going to have a brother or sister?" Harriet asked.

"You'll find out when the baby's born, just like we did with you and Jess," Milah told her daughter.

"Oh…and how long will that be?"

Milah chuckled. "The baby'll stay inside mama for as long as the baby needs to be fully formed and healthy. That way, they'll be strong enough to survive the Isle. But they'll still need protection at the start. Do you think you and Jess can do that, my little Captain?"

"Yes mama!" Harriet said, nodding her head just as Jess did the same.

Hades, though, paused as Milah's words ran through his head with wild abandon. Persephone had been having a hard time sleeping lately. They had thought that it might be due to the barrier, after all she normally needed time to adjust.

But, as had been said, she had never needed months before.

And let's face it, we've been going at it about once every other night since we decided we wanted kids. I believe Hook once compared us to 'jackrabbits' based on a couple of noises he'd heard when the door wasn't fully closed one hundred percent…thankfully he fixed that for us since otherwise the sunspots might have wandered in and been way too traumatized, Hades thought as the pieces began to click together. Turning on his heel, he quickly made his way back to his room and slipped in through the door.

"Hades?" Persephone asked, looking up as Hades closed the door behind him. "Is something the matter?"

"…You're pregnant."

Persephone stared at him for a moment. "What makes you think that?"

"I was just talking to Milah," Hades said. "And she was saying how being pregnant with the sunspot had kept her up at night. And then I remembered that you were having trouble sleeping on the nights where we—."

"Where we weren't trying to create a child, you mean?"

"Exactly that, yep."

Persephone shook her head. "Just because I'm having trouble sleeping, Hades, it doesn't mean I'm pregnant. There could be any number of reasons why I'm not able to sleep."

"Uh huh," Hades said, raising an eyebrow. "You know there's an easy way we can solve this right?"

"What do you mean?"

"You always bring a supply of pregnancy tests back with you in the event that they're needed here," Hades said. "Take one."

Persephone shook her head. "You know those were meant for mortals to take right? Who knows what would happen if I took one?"

"Well it's our best shot," Hades said. "Unless you want to reach out to your mother and tell her you suspect you might be pregnant for her to send you a Godly test?"

"…Get me a test."

"I'll be right back," Hades said with a small chuckle as he left the room. He knew where Persephone often kept the tests, in the event that Milah or Mollie needed one. Often times she'd keep a few in her pockets when she'd go for her walks around the Isle in the event that that she came across a woman or a girl who needed one.

She also gave them to Anastasia Tremaine, who had began to work with her mother as a traveling midwife over the past couple of years. A profession that seemed to fit Anastasia more than it did Lady Tremaine.

Honestly, and I can't believe I'm even thinking this, but Tremaine either needs to stay in the hair salon or teaching over at Dragon Hall. I mean, it makes me almost weep for the next generation of 'evil' having someone like Tremaine as their teacher but at the very least it'll be better than having Tremaine's face being the first one the kid sees as they enter the world…is it wrong that I'm now wondering if it was Tremaine or Anastasia who was the midwife for Jacquline? Just trying to figure out how traumatized Jafar's kid was…wait, what was I looking for? Oh right! Pregnancy tests!

"You might be more scatterbrained than I am," Milah called from her spot in the den as Hades rushed into the kitchen and reached toward the tallest shelf of the cabinet.

What? You thought the pregnancy tests would be kept in the bathroom of all places? Maybe if there were no kids in the house but with three kids under five and a new baby on the way? They were going to make sure these tests were out of reach of children.

"Hades?" Milah asked, looking over her shoulder. "Everything alright?"

"Just fine," Hades said as he called back to her, grabbing a test and heading back toward the den; pausing as he realized something. "…Where's your husband?"

"Actually captaining if you can believe it," Milah snorted in amusement. "I know James hardly ever leaves my side, especially when I was pregnant with Harriet, but the way he's been almost glued to me…"

"He's protective," Hades said. "With Frollo still out there, it's understandable in a way. Plus if he sticks to you then he doesn't have to potentially deal with Gaston."

"So you're saying I'm moron repellant?"

"Only if you take that as a compliment."

Milah snorted and shook her head. "I'm pretty sure James would insist I'm wrong but I don't think I could be anything else, considering he considers most of the crew morons as well."

"To be fair, if I found out some of my minions were converting to Frollo's nonsense, I'd consider them morons too."

"The crew hasn't done that for years though. I'm not sure why James would…"

"Why James would what?" Hook asked as he walked into the den.

"Treat mama like moron pellant!" Harriet chimed in and Hades had to bite his lip to keep from laughing as the tot put her hands on her hips. "That's not nice papa."

"Yeah!" Jess nodded. "Mama's not pellant!"

And with that, I think I'll take my leave to find out if we're adding to this insanity or not, Hades thought as he slipped out and made his way back to his bedroom. Slipping back into the room, he shut the door behind him and smiled as he saw Persephone.

"You know you just saw me right?" Persephone asked.

"Don't care. I'm always happy to see you," Hades told her.

Persephone shook her head but returned the smile. "I take it you found the tests?"

"Sure did," Hades nodded and pulled one out of his pocket. "You need me to help?"

"If this test has the results we think it'll have, I think you've helped enough," Persephone said but gave Hades a gentle smile so that he knew she was only teasing. Not that she needed to, he always seemed to know when she was teasing and when she was truly annoyed.

Helped that they'd been around each other for eons of course. No easier way to learn each other's moods than eons and eons of time together.

"I'll be out here when you're done then," Hades said and Persephone shook her head as she went to the bathroom.

Shutting the door, she pulled out the test and stared at it for a second. Even though she had said she wanted a child, now that the possibility was so close…she wasn't sure if it was something she wanted.

Taking this test…it would make it a reality. The dream was nice, she could forget about certain aspects of the dream while they were trying to create a child. Like the fact that no matter what, if she was pregnant, she would either have to say goodbye to her child for half the year or Hades would.

How unfair is that? Persephone thought, lightly biting her lip as she read over the packaging. I understand our original agreement but our child never agreed to this, never agreed to only have one parent constantly in their lives for an eternity. Never agreed to potentially never know their family on Olympus.

She shook her head, trying to clear herself of her thoughts. She didn't even know if she was pregnant yet, why was she getting worked up about hypotheticals?

Sure they were important things to be concerned about, but until they knew she was pregnant, she was getting worked up over nothing.

Holding back a sigh, Persephone finally took the test out of the box and began to take it. Honestly if there could be an improvement made on the mortals' test, it would be…why didn't she just reach out to Eileithyia?

Well…no use crying over spilt nectar, she thought as she finished up her business. Besides, Eileithyia probably is busy herself what with all the pregnancies happening around Auradon. Not to mention, she's more than likely under orders not to talk to me while I'm on the Isle. Well, at least she'll get a nice surprise if it turns out I am pregnant.

"Well?" Hades asked as Persephone stepped out of the bathroom.

"It takes about one to three minutes for the results to show Hades," Persephone told him. "And on top of that, we don't know if the barrier would interfere—."

"Steph, I love you but you and I both know that unless Auradon's blessing these by magic, there's no way the barrier would block a mortal pregnancy test from working," Hades said, giving his wife a look.

Persephone sighed. "Okay, maybe…maybe I just don't want to get my hopes up only for the test to dash them…I know you were looking forward to the idea of having a child, Hades…"

'Hey, hey," Hades said as he pulled her into his arms. "Yes, I like the idea of us having a child of our own but if for some reason that's not in the cards then we can be the fun aunt and uncle for the sunspots who happen to live with us. They're certainly not going to be lacking for parental figures."

Persephone chuckled as she looked up at him and gently kissed Hades on the cheek. "How did I get so lucky?"

"You ate some pomegranate seeds, I believe," Hades said before sighing slightly. "And I think it's been enough time. You want me to check it?"

"Are you sure you want to?" Persephone asked.

Hades smiled before gently taking the test out of her hands. "Whatever the results are, we'll get through it together," he said before looking down at the test. Tilting his head, he said, "…Is there a reason why they make this a freaking code?"

"What do you see?" Persephone asked as she went back to the bathroom to get the box. "I'll check it against what they say."

"It looks like…a blue plus? Why not just have words?"

"Hades…"

"Yeah Steph?" Hades asked, looking up to see a stunned yet ecstatic Persephone looking back at him.

"…I'm pregnant."

"…You are?"

Persephone nodded and the smile on her face almost looked like it was going to split it in half. "We're going to have a baby."

Hades smiled as he walked over and wrapped Persephone up in his arms. The logistics, the potential fear of one of them only being in their child's life half time…that could wait. For now, they could just celebrate some good news.

It came so rarely on the Isle that when one got it, they held onto it for as long as they could.
