She was scared… God! She was so so scared.

She was sure she was dying; she felt a bone-chilling cold through her body, an overwhelming smell of iron invaded her nostrils and mouth, and to top all that she was switching back and forth between pure agony and sweet numbness.

But despite all that she did not regret her decision, she could not have stood to see any of her brothers go through the same pain as her.

She and her brothers really tried their best to stop the supervillains from hurting civilians and from damaging the mall's columns, but they were outnumbered; And as their mother told them on the island, the bad guys in real life didn't care that they were children.

One of them could produce crystals made of light or plasma (she wasn't really sure) he used them like daggers. When he threw one at them; she looked in shock as her forcefield only slowed down its momentum and managed to hit his brother Dash (who was holding Jack-Jack) on his right leg. She saw Dash struggle to stand up.

That's why when he saw that the brute aimed dozens of those crystals at her brothers she didn't think twice; She put up another force field and shielded her brothers with her own body. She could feel each stab of the crystals. Yet…she didn't let go of the force field nor her brothers. A couple of them hit Dash (darn her slim body) who in turn was shielding Jack-Jack.

When the attack was over, the bad guys watched the bloody mess, thought they were done and just left. She was grateful to whatever deity that had prevented them from seeing her brothers safe beneath her.

Dash then leaned her on the nearest wall with the most care "WHY?!... Why did you do that?" Dash asked, both of her brothers were crying their eyes out.

"...'cause…'m… the one…in charge" she gave a weak smile at her half joke; she immediately regretted saying that when saw Dash's tears doubled in volume.

She soon felt both of her brothers holding her tight; under any other circumstances, she would find it gross being covered in tears and snot; but she was so scared and hurt right now that she didn't even care.

Their embrace gave her such warmth and comfort that she didn't want them to let go.

No… she couldn't let them… her brothers were risking their lives by staying with her. Of course she was afraid of dying alone, but she was more afraid of dragging them with her.

"Dash… the mall… is crumbling…you have… to take… Jack-Jack… out of here…"

"What about you?"

She just gave him a sad look hoping he would understand.

"Nononono…NO!. You can't ask me to just abandon you when you are dy-" Dash seemed to choke up on that word, like just saying it would make it reality.

"D-ash" She felt for her brother. If the roles were reversed, she couldn't imagine being asked to leave.

"NO…" He said firmy "I will find a way to take you out of here…" When she saw him trying his best to carry her she saw the gash on his leg.

Shoot… he couldn't escape even if he wanted to.

"Darn It!..." Dash said at his failed attempts. He was thinking of a solution when he saw the crying face of his baby brother. "Jack-Jack!...maybe he can teleport us out of here"

Vi saw Jack-Jack staring at Dash, quite not understanding what he was saying. He has a lot of powers, but being a baby he couldn't control them completely, plus she had only seen him teleport himself, not others.

"C'MON JACK-JACK!... VI IS BLEEDING OUT, YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!" Dash yelled in desperation.

Jack-Jack seemed confused as to why he was being yelled at, like he didn't know what he did wrong. His scared face reminded Violet of how she felt when she couldn't put a force field around the plane.

"Dash… stop it…He…is just…a baby"

When Dash looked back at his baby brother trying to hide behind his older sister's arm he realized he messed up.

"Jack-Jack… I-I am so sorry… I just… Don't know what to do…I'm… scared" He held his little brother.

Violet watched the figure of her two brothers hugging starting to blur, she began to feel drowsy.

Dash must have noticed it because he started to beg her to hold on, she even heard him promise to never read her diary again.

She can't let herself go now, not when she still had to find a way to get her little brothers to safety.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt a sudden pain of someone making pressure on her wounds. She noticed the hands were too big to be Dash's, but who?...

"T-ony" She felt relieved when she saw it was him; she wondered if she was dreaming, she tried to reach out of him but her hand barely responded.

Luckily Tony saw her struggle, took her hand and assured her that he was indeed there.

He was REALLY here, she was so so happy; even in her darkest times he never failed to make her smile. Tony was here…

Wait…

Tony was here…

The implications finally dawned on her. Tony didn't evacuate the building, he Is at risk of being crushed like the rest of them.

But there was silver lighting, Tony could carry her brothers out of here.

"Tony...i'm … so sorry. I-I am...not...going to …make...it" She had to make him forget about her, she was dead weight at this point.

It hurted her to hear his heartbroken cries telling her to not give up. That's why It was difficult when she asked him to leave her and save her brothers. She knew it was too much to ask. But she ran out of options.

It was both heartwarming and frustrating at the same time when she saw Tony and Dash refusing to leave her. Please, I don't want you to get hurt because of me, she thought.

That's when she felt it… the sweet embrace of death. She couldn't feel or see anything, the voices began to sound muffled and distant.

She was so tired, she knew it was time to let go. Maybe it was for the best, that way they wouldn't be attached to her and they would finally leave. She trusted Tony with both of her brother's lives after all.

Violet thought of her loved ones. She wanted to apologize for leaving too soon, that she wanted to tell she was grateful for the time she spent with them, so many things she left unsaid…

She knew she didn't have time to say all that, so she settled on three words. She turned her head to the direction of the voices and tried her best to say them; to her friends, to her parents, to her brothers, to Tony.

She just hoped they all heard her say…

I love you.

Violet finally faded into the deepest sleep.
