Chapter 10: Pact of the Dragon
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Glad to see all of you enjoyed the surprises in my last chapter. I'd like to thank masters123lfm and kival737101 for helping me with this one. Hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We found ourselves in Culinary class as all the students were hard at work on their creations.
"Sugar, spice, and everything nice. These are the ingredients chosen to create—" Akko lists adding her ingredients.
"The perfect little girl." Jaden chuckles.
"What?" Akko said looking at him confused.
"Nothing," Jaden said quickly. "Uh, what are you making Akko?"
"Pickled Plums." Akko smiled pouring plums into the mixture and began mixing them thoroughly but unfortunately, the mix began to swell up before exploding covering her in frosting.
"Why do you keep wasting ingredients?" Sucy asks.
"It never works because you're adding the wrong things." Lotte points out.
"But that's how you get it to taste good," Akko said as Jaden tasted some loose frosting.
"I like it," Jaden said making her smile.
"So what are you working on?" Akko asks Jaden had two pots over the cauldron flame.
"Just a little recipe from home. My mom taught it to me." Jaden said as the boiling water melted the chocolate down and he drizzled it on some cookies. "May I?"
"Uh, sure?" Scrapping off some of Akko's berry mess Jaden drizzled it on top of his cookies before tasting one.
"Mmm perfect." Jaden smiles.
"Really?" Akko said interested.
"Here try one." Jaden offers.
Taking one Akko took a bite and smiled. "Mmm so good."
Looking around Lotte noticed the other students who were excelling in this class too.
Nathanial was showing why he worked in the kitchens as he was at a table with Iris, Auriana, and Talia whipping up something good.
"And done." Nathanial smiles pouring the contents into a mug.
"Oh wow, that looks good," Iris said.
"Want a taste?" Nathaniel offers.
"Sure." Taking it, Iris took a sip and smiled. "Mmm."
As Constance poured her blender mixture into a container she pushed it into a container before putting it in a high-tech oven.
"Whoa, where did you get that?" Jaden asks impressed. "This doesn't look like something you would buy at a store. Did you make this?" Jaden asks and Constance just nods. "This is incredible."
"Hey that doesn't look witchy at all," Akko said wiping herself clean.
"Look who's talking," Sucy adds.
"Want one? Fluffy flavored." Jasminka said offering some chips.
"Thanks, but I think you're supposed to make the food yourself in this class," Jaden said.
"Jasminka, you need to take this class seriously." Akko agrees.
"Who needs to take this class seriously?" Nearby we see Amanda leaning in a chair against her table. "It's too easy, for anyone but you."
"And just what do you mean by that?" Akko glares.
"Look at you. You can't even ride a broom." Amanda said.
"Well, maybe you're the washout." Akko counters.
"Wow, good one. You whine like an annoying little dog." Akko said.
"Oh yeah." Grabbing her legs, Akko flips her over causing Amanda to fall over.
"Hey! What the hell was that for?!" Amanda snaps.
"Just fixing your bad attitude." Akko mocks.
"I don't want to hear about bad behavior from you!" Amanda said getting in her face.
"You only hate me because you lost the race!" Akko declares.
"Do not!" Amanda snaps.
"Do too!" Akko snaps.
"Alright, you two calm down. No need for this to get ugly." Jaden said.
"Mind your own business!" Amanda snaps.
"Hey! Don't talk to my friend like that!" Akko snaps. "Face it, Amanda. You're just jealous!"
"Why would I be jealous of a washout like you?!" Amanda said.
"Takes one to know one!" Akko yells.
"Oh boy this isn't good," Talia said as Auriana ducked under the table in fear this was about to get ugly.
"The only washout is you!" Both snapped pushing against each other and banged against a table causing a cauldron to spill over.
"Hit the deck!" Jaden yells as a large explosion of white steam fills the classroom.
Taking out her wand, Diana waves it. "Scrylla!" Diana said stopping the explosion and flying contents in midair. "Yera Retoure!" Flying back together all the contents merged to fix the cauldron.
"Wow, amazing Diana," Hanna said as she and Cindy praised her.
"That's why you're the best." Cindy smiles.
"That was impressive how quickly she reacted," Nathanial admits.
"Show off," Jaden mutters being the only one who wasn't impressed.
"Can you two stop disrupting the class with your pathetic fight? It's so annoying." Diana mocks.
"What?" Akko growls.
"Who are you calling pathetic?" Amanda growls equally enraged.
"Be quiet!" Turning around they saw Prof. Lukic glaring at them. "It sounds like the two of you two need to be disciplined. Perhaps a punishment that makes your blood dry up."
As she began to cackle, Akko and Amanda turned pale in fear.
"Maybe you can figure out who the bigger washout is while you two are working on your punishment?" Diana suggests as Hannah and Cindy mock them.
While Akko and Amanda were escorted out Jaden looked to Diana and her posse.
"They're already being punished; did you really have to make them feel worse?" Jaden asks.
"It's not my fault they do nothing but fight," Diana said walking away.
"Besides you can't even do magic so you're not much better." Hanna mocks.
Tightening his fist, Jaden would have loved nothing more than to prove her wrong. But he couldn't risk others knowing the truth.
Later that day, Akko and Amanda were forced to clean the hallway.
"That Diana really gets on my nerves. Thinks she's so cool just because she can use magic." Akko growls scrubbing stone with a rag.
"She always has that stuck-up attitude just because she's from some famous witch family." Amanda mocks putting a can down.
"I'd like to give her a piece of my mind!" Both said as Amanda whacked the can with her broom indicating she wasn't doing any cleaning at all.
"Hey! You're not helping at all!" Akko snaps.
But before she could make Amanda help they noticed a large group of shadows flying towards the top of the school.
"What was that?" Amanda gasps.
Running out they saw several dragons flying to the top where the Sorcerer's Stone was.
"What's going on?" Akko asks as Amanda hops on her broom.
"Get on," Amanda said as they flew up after them.
As some of the dragons reached in and grabbed the Sorcerer's Stone, they noticed it was wedged in their tightly.
Pulling the dragons yanked it free but failed to notice a small chunk of the stone fell off before they flew away with it.
When Akko and Amanda flew higher and higher, they gasped seeing the stone being taken away right before their eyes.
Making their way to Holbrooke's office, the door swings open revealing Holbrooke, Finnelan, Badcock, Lukic, and a few others.
"Principal Holbrooke there's been an emergency! The Sorcerer's Stone has been stolen!" Akko declares getting their attention.
"Tell me exactly what happened," Holbrooke said approaching Akko.
"Dragons came in and just took it," Akko states.
"Just as I expected, the prophecy was right. It's the Dragon's wraith." Lukic said making all the teachers glare at her revealing she shouldn't have said that aloud.
"The what?" Amanda asks overhearing that.
"What does that mean?" Akko asks.
"Don't worry about it. We are aware of what's happening." Holbrooke assures.
"Then let's get to get the stone back. We'll help." Akko offers.
"Wait, we?" Amanda pauses realizing she was volunteered as well.
"Ooh, maybe Spider-Man can help us out," Akko said making Finnelan twitch annoyed.
"No thank you. We don't need any help." Holbrooke assures.
"Especially from that masked menace." Finnelan growls.
"Just leave it to us. The two of you should return to your room." Holbrooke insists.
"But the Sorcerer's Stone is our magical power source. Without it, we won't be able to use magic at Luna Nova. Is that what you want?" Akko asks.
"That's beside the point," Finnelan said walking in front of her. "And now that I think about it, aren't you two were on cleaning duty as punishment."
"This is far more important!" Akko states.
"Ms. Kagari! You are being assigned to hand wash all of the laundry in this school. You too, Ms. O'Neil!" Finnelan orders making both girls cringe in horror.
As the sun began to set, the girls were in the basement doing laundry. But they weren't alone. Being forced to help them was Sucy, Lotte, Constance, Jasminka, Iris, Auriana, and Talia.
"Why do we have to do all the grunt work?" Akko groans pedaling on a bike to spin the washers.
"Seriously, this stinks," Auriana whines running clothes through the roller.
"Well since the stone is gone we don't have fairies to help out. So students have to do all the cleaning, laundry, and cooking." Lotte points out.
"Yeah but some of us weren't actually punished." Sucy points out.
"At this point, it really doesn't matter. We all have to do this." Talia said dropping some more clothes in Sucy's bucket. "You know the old saying. You got time to lean, you got time to clean."
Mumbling Sucy got back to scrubbing.
"We don't have time for this! We can't just stand around doing nothing!" Akko said pedaling at a quick speed frustrated by the situation.
"Your useless enthusiasm got me dragged into this. Besides it's not like we can do much against those dragons. Even the old hags were nervous about it." Amanda said hanging the laundry up to dry.
"Still why would they want to take it?" Iris asks unsure.
"I heard in the old days dragons used to capture witches and did horrible things to them to get their magic powers. Like eat their flesh and drink their blood." Sucy said in a demonic tone.
"Okay, you need to stop talking," Talia said seeing she was giving Auriana and Lotte the creeps.
"Besides Dragons don't do that anymore," Amanda said.
"Why is that?" Auriana asks.
"What am I a historian? I don't know." Amanda shrugs.
"So wait does that mean they took the stone to gain power?" Akko assumes.
"Who knows?" Sucy shrugs.
"It's possible. They say a dragon lives nearby in the Rastaban Ruins." Lotte recalls and Akko immediately ran up to her.
"Lotte, what else do you know?" Akko asks interested.
"Well supposedly dragons used to be very violent but nowadays it's unsure if that's true anymore. Because no one has seen dragons for at least 100 years." Lotte adds.
"Oh come on! They go into hiding for 100 years and then when they return, they rob us?! That is unforgivable! We have to get that stone back!" Akko snaps.
"There goes Akko with her usual nonsense again." Sucy rolls her eyes.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Diana said walking in.
"Diana?" Akko acknowledges as they turn their attention to her.
"You were assigned here to do laundry. So why don't you focus on that and refrain from doing anything stupid." Diana said.
"What do you want?" Amanda asks.
"Prof. Finnelan wanted me to deliver a message. When you're done with this task go fetch some water." Diana states.
"Are you kidding me?! We're not even halfway done with this." Auriana whines.
"Diana, this affects you too. If we don't get the stone back, no more magic. Luna Nova needs magic." Akko said.
"Are you delusional? None of you would last 5 seconds against a dragon." Diana points out.
"We won't know until we try," Akko said.
"Utterly pointless." Diana scoffs. "You can't even keep up in class. What makes you think you could accomplish this? All you ever do is cause trouble and because of your actions, others get pulled into them. Why don't you try thinking before acting? Keep this up and I bet even your friends will get tired of you." Diana said bashing Akko with each line.
"Okay, that's enough. Give her a break." Amanda said thinking she was going too far.
"The same can be said for you. Always slacking off. Don't bother others just because you don't care about anything else." Amanda said.
"Excuse me?" Amanda growls.
"I've relayed the message," Diana said turning to leave.
"T-Thank you, Diana," Lotte said.
"Don't thank her. She didn't do anything helpful in the slightest." Iris said.
Slowly Amanda approaches Akko. "Akko. Pick yourself up. Are you seriously gonna back down after what she said to you?"
Surprised at first Akko snaps out of it and stands up. "Of course not!"
Smirking Amanda raised her fist and she and Akko shared a fist bump.
"Wait you two?" Lotte gasped realizing what was happening.
"There's no changing Akko's mind now." Sucy sighs.
"Oh man are you two seriously going to rob a dragon?" Talia asks.
"Insane." Auriana grins wanting in.
"But what do we do about all this laundry?" Iris asks gesturing to the giant piles.
Tapping her shoulder, Constance gestures to her own take on a laundry machine.
"What about gathering water?" Lotte asks.
Using another invention, we see Jasminka pumping water into the device that pours the water into all the other buckets.
"Wow I never knew Alchemy was so handy." Auriana pauses.
"Makes you wish you paid attention more in class huh?" Talia teases.
Sighing Lotte realized nothing was stopping them from doing this task.
In Holbrooke's office, Otto and Ursula walked in and joined the meeting.
"Well this is a fine mess you ladies have gotten us all into," Otto said.
"Watch it." Finnelan glares.
"Hey unlike all of you, I can still teach my class regardless of if you ever get the stone back." Otto insists.
"We assigned tasks to all the students but the witches seem less than capable of performing said tasks," Ursula said.
"Which is hardly a surprise," Otto said rolling his eyes unamused.
"Where are all the Student Workers?" Finnelan asks annoyed. "Why aren't they helping with this?"
"Technically they don't have to," Ursula admits confusing her. "You see part of their contracts allow them to only have to work during school hours so they can have time to juggle all of their responsibilities and have some free time to themselves. So officially they don't have to do anything until tomorrow morning."
"Tomorrow morning?! What idiot came up with that rule?!" Finnelan asks outraged.
"You did," Holbrooke answers shutting her up instantly and making Otto snicker.
"Oh uh...still what could they possibly be doing?" Finnelan asks trying to fix herself.
In the halls of Luna Nova, the Student Workers were treated to the experience of seeing the other students have to do their jobs.
Atop the staircase, Luke, Jaimie, Felicia, Ned, and Stephen were enjoying the show.
"Bad move," Luke said watching one girl try to push a whole pallet of giant boxes. "You should be doing multiple trips."
"Check this out." Jaimie snickers pointing to girls trying to use a broom for sweeping.
"Hey look, Hannah's trying to clean a toilet," Ned said as they laughed seeing her struggle.
"These girls clearly have never worked a day in their lives," Stephen said amused.
"Oh man, I wish I had a camera right now." Felicia laughs when she notices Jaden walking nearby his camera dangling around his neck.
Grinning she gets a wicked idea.
"Hey, Jaden." She calls out getting his attention.
"Hey what's up?" Jaden asks as Felicia walked up to him.
"I know you're a photographer so I want to hire you. I want as many pictures of these girls in humiliating positions as possible. Get some really good ones and I'll make it worth your while." Felicia winks leaning in.
"R-Really?" Jaden blushes softly not expecting this.
"Ooh I'll take a set," Stephen said.
"Yeah me, too," Jaimie said.
"Uh well…" Jaden gulps trying to figure a way out of this.
"Come on guys lay off," Barbara said as she, Nathaiel, and Ava walked over.
"Yeah it's not that funny," Ava said.
"It's kind of funny," Jaimie admits.
"Maybe we should help them," Barbara said.
"Are you kidding? These brats have been treating us like garbage since we got here. It's about time they got what's coming to them." Felicia said thinking they deserve it.
"They do treat us badly," Luke adds.
"Look I'm not saying these girls don't deserve it. Far from it. But this is our school just as much as it is theirs. And if all we do is sit back, laugh, and bully them then we're no better than them." Jaden said making them pause.
"And not all of them are bad. I know a few good witches." Nathaniel said making the ones who were laughing sigh.
"Treat others the way you want to be treated. Not treat them the way they treated you." Danny said joining them.
"It sucks being the bigger man," Jaime said.
"Ain't that the truth." Luke sighs.
"Well that's why we're the better students," Jaden said before turning to the wall to reveal Racheal and Marc sitting down by a candle reading books.
"You guys up for helping?" Stephen asks.
"Why not? I can't read with all this whining and complaining." Racheal said closing her book.
"I guess it beats doing nothing," Marc said putting his book away.
"Can we still make fun of them as we help them?" Stephen asks.
"Of course." Barbara nods making her grin.
"Still any chance I can convince you to take a few funny pictures?" Felicia asks looking at Jaden.
"Maybe another time. Besides, think how funny it'll be when they have to ask you for help." Jaden offers.
"I like the way you think." Felicia smiles as they all split up to go help
As Jaden made his way down the hall, he noticed he was near the top of the school where the Sorcerer's Stone used to be.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Jaden walked in to see the large empty pedestal.
"You know, if something is this valuable, they really should have a security system around it or something," Jaden said before noticing something glowing on the ground.
Curious, Jaden bent down and noticed a small chunk of the stone was still there.
"Whoa." Bending down, Jaden picks up the chunk to show it is barely bigger than the palm of his hand.
"What are you doing in here?" A voice calls out startling him.
Quickly turning around Jaden slips the stone into his pocket only to see Diana.
"Well? What are you doing?" Diana asks walking in.
"Oh just taking pictures of the crime scene," Jaden said holding up his camera. "You wanna pose for one?"
"No." Diana narrows her eyes. "Shouldn't you be helping?"
"I could say the same to you and will. Why aren't you doing anything to help?" Jaden repeats.
"I've been tasked with handing out assignments from the teachers to the other students," Diana said.
"Sounds like a fancy way of saying I'm being the teacher's pet to avoid doing any hard work." Jaden translates making her glare.
"So what's your excuse?" Diana asks.
"I don't have to do anything. I'm off the clock meaning I can go home if I want to." Jaden said.
"Then why don't you do us all a favor and leave?" Diana suggests.
"Don't tempt me," Jaden said.
"You think you're funny but you're just another annoyance," Diana said.
"And you may think you're a bigshot but you're just full of hot air." Jaden counters.
"I'm the best student at this school." Diana glares.
"Not without the stone you're not. Without that stone, you're just as worthless as me. Actually…no you're even more worthless than me." Jaden said correcting himself.
"Excuse me?" Diana said.
"I may not wave a wand around but I can solve my own problems without magic. And I know what I have to do in order to help others. You can't seem to do anything that involves helping others. Honestly, I hope you don't get that stone back anytime soon. You and the other girls need to learn how feels to be at the bottom." Jaden said turning to leave.
Just as Diana was about to call out to him, they heard a noise.
Pausing both ran to the edge and looked down to see Akko, Sucy, Lotte, Iris, Auriana, Talia, Constance, Jasminka, and Amanda flying off.
"Where are they going?" Jaden asks.
"Oh no." Diana facepalms. "They're going to the ruins to get the stone back."
"That's great," Jaden said liking their determination.
"You really think they're going to last long against a dragon?" Diana deadpans.
"You know what? Say what you will about my friends but at least they care. All you do is stand around and criticize others. Some top student." Jaden said walking out.
"Where are you going?" Diana asks.
"None of your business, that's where," Jaden said closing the door.
Growling Diana was beyond frustrated. "He is the most annoying person I've ever met," Diana said walking out.
As she made her way down the hall, she noticed a window open, walking up to close it she didn't notice a figure swinging after Akko and the other witches.
Walking down the hall, Diana knocked on the door to the principal's office.
"Excuse me," Diana said entering the room only to see Finnelan inside and looking at a large scroll.
"Have you done what I've asked?" Finnelan asks turning her attention to Diana.
"Yes, all of the students have been given instructions regarding cleaning, cooking, and laundry while the fairies are inactive. I came to report this to Principal Holbrooke." Diana nods.
"She's currently out of the office," Finnelan said as Diana walked over. "What of the Student Workers?"
"I don't recall running into any of them for help," Diana said thinking about Jaden.
"Hmph not surprised," Finnelan said as Diana stood alongside her.
"Still surprised to hear she's out so late at night," Diana said looking at the scroll.
"Correct." Finnelan nods.
"How unusual," Diana said getting her attention. "These letters are…"
Gasping Finnelan was amazed. She could actually read it.
Meanwhile flying towards the ruins, we see Constance's high-tech broom pulling all the other brooms towards the ruins since none of them could fly without the stone.
"Man Alchemy is something else," Iris said impressed.
"Constance must like that class as much as Jaden does," Akko said when Amanda noticed the magic power meter on her broom was going up.
"The magic power is coming back." Amanda smiled as all the brooms began to fly.
"That means we must be getting close to the Sorcerer's Stone." Sucy theorized.
"Hey look at that up ahead," Lotte said as they noticed a large clearing up ahead.
"The Rastaban Ruins." Akko declares when Iris notices something coming in from above.
"Incoming!" Iris yells as a fireball narrowly misses them.
As another flew in, Auriana held up her hand making her own fireball that canceled it out in a cloud of smoke.
From the smoke, the 8 Dragons that stole the stone flew in.
"Those are the dragons we saw steal the Sorcerer's Stone!" Akko recalls.
"Quick fall back!" Talia yells as they turn their brooms around and fly into the forest with the dragons right behind them.
"They're gaining on us," Akko said as Jasminka put Constance on her shoulder.
With her hands freed, Constance attaches two devices to make a gun weapon that fires magical blasts.
"Hey, you ladies started the party without me?" A familiar voice calls out.
"Wait, that voice." Lotte gasped as an old rusty truck flew through the air and crashed into one of the dragons knocking it to the ground.
From a nearby tree branch, they saw Spider-Man had arrived.
"Oh man, I just threw a truck at a dragon. I love my life." Spider-Man laughs.
"Spider-Man!" Akko smiles happy to see him.
Firing a web, Spider-Man swings alongside them.
"What are you doing here?" Sucy asks.
"Well I saw those dragons flying from Luna Nova and I thought it seemed worth looking into," Spider-Man said pretending he didn't know why.
"They robbed us and took the Sorcerer's Stone," Akko said.
"Oh really? Well then, what do you say we teach these oversized reptiles a lesson?" Spider-Man suggests making Amanda grin.
"I like the sound of that. Everyone split up." Amanda said as they flew in different directions while 2 pursued Spider-Man.
"Alright, Hotheads just because something is shiny doesn't mean you can just take whatever you want." Spider-Man as one breathes fire at him forcing him to dodge. "Hey anyone ever tell you to say it, not spray it?"
As the other tries to attack again Spider-Man fires a web around both their mouths like a muzzle causing the flames to explode in its mouth and collapse.
Growling the other dragon turned to him.
"What? You seriously thought I wasn't prepared for the one thing all dragons are known for?" Spider-Man mocks before swinging in and delivering a fierce kick to the gut sending it crashing into several trees.
As one flew after Iris, Auriana, and Talia it released another fireball forcing them to fly out of the way.
"Oh man, I can't believe it's really him. He's so cool." Auriana said checking out Spider-Man.
"Hey, you can talk to him later Auriana we got a dragon to deal with," Talia said getting her attention.
"Come on girls." Iris said as they flew in a triangle formation but when the dragon flew in they shot in different directions.
Flying to the side, Auriana released some fireballs getting its attention while Talia and Iris flew over.
"This'll teach you to steal from us." Talia said releasing a powerful thunder boom while Iris released pink soundwaves sending the dragon smashing into the ground.
Nearby 3 dragons were chasing after Amanda, Constance, and Jasminka.
As one closed in, Amanda used her flying skills to dodge it and fly behind it.
"Slonhon Deance!" Waving her wand, Amanda made a giant flower appear on the dragon's face.
Confused it came to a stop but that resulted in the other two dragons smashing into it causing them to fall to the ground.
Using this opening Constance opened fire on them but to their surprise upon impact with the dragons two of them exploded in a powerful burst of flames almost knocking her and Jasminka back.
Finally, the last two dragons gained on Sucy, Akko, and Lotte. Sucy took out a vial and threw it behind her releasing a cloud of purple smoke.
Taking out her wand, Sucy blows against it creating a power explosion that forces them to flee.
"It worked," Akko said when she noticed the explosion caused by Constance's attack.
Landing nearby, Akko jumped off the broom and ran over to see the damage but to her surprise she saw what appeared to be a mechanical dragon.
"What is this?" Akko asks when Spider-Man, Auriana, and Amanda landed next to her.
"What's wrong?" Amanda asks as Spider-Man looks down.
"Wait, that's not right," Spider-Man said when his spider-sense went off. "Look out!" Tackling the 3 girls they narrowly avoid being grabbed by a dragon, but Lotte and Sucy weren't so lucky.
"Lotte! Sucy!" Akko gasped as Constance, Talia, and Iris tried to shoot them out of the sky but none of their spells hit.
"Hold still!" Iris said frustrated when two more dragons flew in and grabbed the three of them plus Jasminka.
"Iris! Talia!" Auriana gasps.
"Constance! Jasminka!" Amanda said as they were carried off to the ruins.
"We gotta hurry," Spider-Man said chasing after them.
"Akko get on!" Amanda said.
Turning to hop on her broom, Akko missteps and falls down a hole screaming.
Pausing Amanda and Auriana look down the hole in surprise.
"Did you know that was there?" Auriana asks.
"Nope," Amanda said.
Meanwhile, at Luna Nova, we see some students in the kitchens. As two were struggling to push crates we saw more struggling to peel potatoes.
"Ugh, how do you use these things?" One asks holding up a potato peeler.
"It helps to run the potato along the wire part," Nathaniel said walking in.
Nearby Luke walked over to the ones pushing the crates and took several boxes off.
"Hey, what are you doing? We need to get all this inside." A witch said.
"Then just make a few trips. Try pushing now." Luke suggests as the girls push the crates in much easier now.
Nearby Nathaniel was showing the girls how to peel.
"See? No skin." He said before dropping it in the finished area. "Now you try."
All over the school, the other student workers were helping them despite all the witches being their usual selves.
We see Jaimie and Danny showing them how to use their brooms for sweeping, Barbara and Ava showing them how to dust, Ned, Marc, and Racheal showing them how to organize the classrooms, and finally, Felicia and Stephen helping them learn how to clean the bathrooms.
"Ugh this is so gross," Hannah said cleaning the bathtubs.
"Oh get over it. You girls bathe every day this is what happens after you clean yourselves." Felicia said before pinching the bridge of her nose.
"You know you'd think they'd be grateful that we're helping them," Stephen said standing nearby.
"Please, I haven't heard one thing that remotely sounds nice. Just more complaining. Why couldn't Jaden just take my offer and take some humiliating photos?" Felicia asks.
"Maybe because he doesn't want to kick people when they're down." Stephen shrugs leaving Felicia to her thoughts.
'What is his deal?' Felicia thought curious about Jaden. The only other person who ignored her flirting was Spider-Man.
Back at the ruins, we see Amanda and Auriana had gone down the hole Akko had fallen through only to see it led to somewhere inside the ruins.
"Looks like we found a secret way in," Auriana said.
"Wait, where's Spider-Man?" Akko asks.
"He took another in," Amanda said as they made their way down it.
"So Akko…sounds like you've run into Spider-Man before." Auriana hints leaning in.
"A few times. He's cool isn't he?" Akko asks.
"I've seen him in action. How is he able to do magic whenever he wants? I saw him use it on the other side of the portal." Amanda asks.
"I don't know but I want to find out." Auriana sighs reaching the end.
Slowly pushing against the hatch, they saw they were in a giant dark room so they could barely see what was going on around them.
"What kind of room is this?" Akko asks as Auriana makes a small flame allowing them to see what appears to be a big chunk of meat on a hook.
"Looks like a food pantry or something," Amanda said.
Floating down they landed on a table and noticed a giant bloody kitchen appliance.
"What is that?" Auriana gulps.
"Don't tell me they really eat witches?" Akko gulps when Amanda notices something.
"Quick. Hide." She said grabbing them and pulling them behind said appliance as giant footsteps echoed.
Slowly peeking their heads out they see a large robbed figure that towered over them walking by.
As they slowly come out of hiding they see the figure a large white-scaled dragonwith a beard and glowing eyes. This was Fafnir.
And gazing down we see Lotte, Sucy, Talia, Iris, Constance, and Jasminka all in a cage.
"There they are." Akko gasps.
"Not good," Amanda said.
"Wait, where's Spider-Man?" Auriana asks when they hear a jingle.
Turning around they saw Akko swinging against a chain as if she was about to save them.
"Leave my friends alone!" Akko yells swinging out at them.
"Akko no!" Auriana panics.
"You idiot!" Amanda yells as Fafnir grabs Akko in his claw making her gulp as she is raised to his face.
"Please don't eat me! I don't taste good! In fact, I'll probably make you sick!" Akko panics as they all fear she would be eaten.
"Oh be quiet!" Fafnir roars as the lights turn on confusing everyone. "What do you think dragons eat? Besides you don't look appetizing in the least."
"How rude!" Akko growls.
"Akko. He doesn't want to eat you, take the win." Auriana insists.
"Hey I'd put her down if I were you," Spider-Man calls out getting Fafnir's attention.
"Who said that?" Fafnir calls out looking around for the source of the voice.
"Oh, I'm your conscience. We don't talk much." Spider-Man said slowly dropping down from the ceiling behind him before dropping onto his shoulder.
Seeing this Auriana couldn't help but giggle. "He's like Jiminy Cricket."
"Cricket? But he's a Spider." Amanda said confused.
"Nevermind." Auriana shrugs.
Reaching out Spider-Man taps Fafnir on his neck.
"Huh?" Fafnir looks to see Spider-Man waving at him.
"Hey there." Spider-Man waves making Fafnir gasp in disbelief.
"It can't be." Tossing Akko aside she screams in horror only for Amanda and Auriana to catch her.
"Whoa. That is no way to treat someone. How would you like it if someone did that to you?" Spider-Man asks jumping off his shoulder and landing on the table. "You and I got a lot to work out."
"Impossible. Arachnos?" Fafnir gasps confusing everyone.
"Arachnos? What kind of name is that? His name is Spider-Man." Akko corrects as they land on the table with the other girls.
"Spider-Man?" Pausing Fafnir narrowed his eyes and got a real good look at him. "Well, I'll be…it's like history is repeating itself."
Flashback:
We see Fafnir about 100 years younger in his cave.
Spreading his wings, he was about to take off when suddenly a web shot out in front of the cave entrance stopping him in his tracks.
"And where do you think you're going?" Emerging from the shadows, Fafnir sees Arachnos emerge with a playful smirk on his face.
"Arachnos? Stay out of this. This has nothing to do with you." Fafnir said struggling to free himself.
"Really? Because it looks to me like you're being greedy and going off to collect more money." Arachnos said.
"They owe me. I gave them the money now it's time they pay me back." Fafnir said burning the web down.
"Well, I'm here to say your debt-collecting days are over. You keep taking out these big loans and gouging people dry on your bogus interest rates. It stops now." Arachnos said jumping up and landing on a web to look Fafnir in the eyes.
"Why are you doing this? The Golden Magic Age is long over. Magic is barely holding on by a thread." Fafnir said.
"Then what are you still doing whining over money you old lizard? You got more riches than you know what to do with." Arahnos said.
"You intend to stop me?" Fafnir growls as a serious expression appears on Arachnos' face.
"Let me make something clear. I am the protector of this realm and right now I've chosen to protect the future of magic. And there's not gonna be much of a future left if it's broke thanks to you. So if you want to leave you have to go through me first or more accurately, I go through you." Arachnos threatens.
As the two glared each other down neither of them moved an inch but in the end, Fafnir blinked first making him groan.
"Dammit! Not again!" Fafnir groans making the spider chuckle. "How do you keep beating me?!"
"You're getting old Fafnir. You couldn't even beat me in your prime." Arachnos said as Fafnir sat down.
"You won't be around forever. Even you're gonna have to hang it up. Magic won't last long." Fafnir said.
"I know. That's why I got a plan in the works." Arachnos said getting the old dragon's attention.
"A plan you say?" Fafnir said.
"You think magic is an old relic like us, that it's on its last leg. But I like to believe that when things are on their last leg it leaves an opportunity to change. I'm looking for a way to keep magic alive." Arachnos said.
"How do you plan to do that?" Fafnir asks.
"Oh you'll see. And when you do, it's going to blow your mind." Arachnos grins.
Flashback End:
"Spider-Man? I see it now you're Arachnos' champion heh? Never thought I would still be around when that old timer found someone to pass the torch to." Fafnir smirks amused before smelling something. 'Wait a minute.'
"So you gonna let them out of the cage or am I going to have to break them out?" Spider-Man asks getting his attention.
"So it's safe to say you triggered my security system then," Fafnir said unlocking the cage so they all could get out.
Walking past them, Fafnir approached the scary appliance only to reveal a pitcher of liquid next to it.
"Wait is that?" Iris starts.
"An ordinary food processor?" Lotte finishes.
"You girls must be from Luna Nova. Did you bring the money you promised?" Fafnir asks.
"What money?" Akko asks.
"Didn't Principal Holbrooke send you here to pay me back?" Fafnir asks.
"No, we came here because we wanted to take back the Sorcerer's Stone," Akko said.
"Which was stolen by you," Spider-Man said.
"Steal? How dare you label me a common thief." Fafnir said when they heard a doorbell go off.
"You have a doorbell in a cave?" Spider-Man asks.
"How else am I supposed to know when guests are here?" Fafnir asks when behind the girls an image of Holbrooke appears on screen.
"Please excuse us for coming so late." She said.
"Principal Holbrooke?" They all said confused.
"Oh, you're here. Enter." Clicking a button, a door opens revealing Holbrooke, Badcock, and Lukic the other two pushing carts of various objects.
"Girls, what are you doing here?" Holbrooke said surprised to see her students here. "And why is he here too?"
"I'm an independent 3rd party in this situation," Spider-Man said.
"Did you send these girls to stall for time? Where's my money?" Fafnir asks.
"Well uh you see…might this suffice as an interest payment?" Holbrooke asks as they bring the carts forward.
"What is this garbage?" Fafnir asks creating a gust of wind from his nose blowing their trinkets away. "Do you really think you can deceive me with this garbage? Why don't you get me the money you owe?"
"Uh anyone have any idea what this old lizard is talking about?" Spider-Man asks but they shake their heads.
"Wait are you ransoming off the Sorcerer's Stone?" Iris asks.
"Hardly. I gave Luna Nova a lot of money, but they haven't paid any interest in over a year. Nothing at all." Fafnir said making them all gasp. "No matter how many times I contacted them I was met with excuses. So I took the Sorcerer's Stone."
"We never thought you'd actually take it," Holbrooke admits.
"So you mean the Sorcerer's Stone was taken…" Taila starts.
"As collateral to pay back the debt." Sucy finishes.
"I'm just gonna say it. You ladies suck at managing your money." Spider-Man mocks.
"This is just a warning. Even if I were to sell the stone it still wouldn't be enough." Fafnir smirks.
'And I thought I had money problems. Compared to these ladies, I'm stable.' Spider-Man thought.
"How much money did you people borrow?" Akko asks.
"Please Fafnir show us some sympathy. Luna Nova is losing students every year and our income is less than 1/10th of what it was in the Golden Age of Magic." Holbrooke pleads.
"Because you all have clearly fallen behind with the times. Look at me." Fafnir said as several computer screens appeared behind him. "I generate tons of profits through online investments."
"If you truly are so wealthy please show us mercy." Holbrooke pleads.
"I don't intend to wait any longer. I will crush Luna Nova and sell it off if I have to." Fafnir declares horrifying all the witches.
"Okay, I've heard enough." Firing a web, Spider-Man swings out onto Fafnir's shoulder. "You are done."
"Excuse me?" Fafnir glares.
"You have more money than you know what to do with. So why do you need this?" Spider-Man asks.
"I don't have to explain myself to anyone," Fafnir said.
"Translation. You're a greedy, selfish, old lizard who just wants to make everyone miserable." Spider-Man accuses.
"Why you little. And so what if I am greedy? What are you going to do about it?" Fafnir asks glaring at him.
"You wanna get to them. You go through me first." Spider-Man said using the same words Arachnos used on him all those years ago. "And I don't go down easy."
Even though he was wearing a mask over his face Fafnir could tell Spider-Man was glaring right at him.
Glaring at him, Fafnir and Spider-Man were in a lock.
"You really want to pick a fight with me, boy? Debts must be paid." Fafnir said.
"Maybe but there's also a thing called generosity. So if you won't back down Scrooge I'll make you." Spider-Man said.
"Scrooge? What is that?" Fafnir asks confused.
"Oh come on. You mean to tell me with all this money and knowledge you've never heard of that book or even the movies? It's a classic." Spider-Man said. "Now it's like you're begging for an ass-kicking."
"There's no need for this to get ugly." A familiar voice calls out.
Looking to the door they saw Diana and Finnelan join them.
"Diana?" Akko said surprised.
"Look at this." Diana unrolls the scroll from earlier. "This is the contract you signed with Luna Nova a thousand years ago."
"That's what that was?" Holbrooke asks.
"Yes, but it was written in dragon language. So no one was able to read it." Finnelan whispers.
"Huh?" Looking at it, Spider-Man saw the words begin to change so he could. "I can read it." He mumbles but doesn't see a thing mentioning a debt.
"But you can Diana?" Akko asks.
"Yes, I mastered the script when I was 12. And there's no mention of interest in this at all. We never had to pay you anything from the start. You just used your ancient dragon script to deceive us." Diana accuses making all the witches gasp and Fafnir sweat.
"So you're not only a thief, but you're a liar and a con artist." Spider-Man glares.
"Hogwash, there's no such thing as no interest nowadays. Something promised that long ago must be invalid." Fafnir defends.
"Then the debt itself is invalid. Wouldn't you agree?" Diana counters.
"Oh no that's not what I—" Fafnir starts.
"According to my calculations, the amount Luna Nova has paid you over the years is far more than the debt itself even without the artificial interest. In other words, we've paid the debt in full." Diana said.
"Well then by that logic it seems Fafnir is actually the one who owes Luna Nova money for everything he's swindled you out of over the years." Spider-Man glares making him gulp.
"We can negotiate the payment for another time. But with the evidence against you, it's only right you return the Sorcerer's Stone, Mr. Fafnir." Diana accuses making Fafnir go get it in defeat.
'Huh. So she can actually do things to help others.' Spider-Man thought.
Soon Fafnir gave back the stone and everyone was overjoyed.
"Wow, impressive work. You know you sure you wanna be a witch? You might make a pretty decent lawyer with negotiating skills like that." Spider-Man asks.
"No thanks." Diana shrugs off. "I just wanted to shut someone up." She muttered to herself.
"These days, neither dragons nor magic mean anything. With science on the rise, magic is destined to disappear." Fafnir said closing his safe.
"That's not true. Even now Magic can move people's hearts." Akko assures.
Looking at her, Fafnir raised an eyebrow.
"Been a long time since I heard such a naïve comment like that." Fafnir mocks.
"Just you wait. One day I'm gonna be a great witch and captivate the entire world." Akko declares.
"Oh really?" Fafnir said looking at her and seeing so much hope in her eyes he couldn't help but ponder something. "You'll soon have to realize that dreaming isn't enough."
"You ladies better get back to school," Spider-Man said as they all laughed.
"Arachnos' Champion." Fafnir calls out getting his attention. "A word?"
Waiting until everyone left Spider-Man made his way over to Fafnir.
"I didn't know there were still humans with that spark in their eyes," Fafnir said turning to Spider-Man.
"Yeah some people are just full of surprises," Spider-Man said before climbing on the desk. "How do you know who Arachnos was?"
"He and I go way back. He was clever but a real pain in the neck." Fafnir said. 'And a true friend.'
"Yeah, I've been called that too." Spider-Man chuckles.
"So how long have you had that piece of the Sorcerer's Stone in your pocket?" Fafnir asks surprising him.
"How did you?" Spider-Man asks making him smirk.
"I can still feel its energy even though the large stone is gone," Fafnir said.
Reaching into his pocket, Spider-Man pulls out his small chunk.
"It broke off when you stole the big one. I don't think they've noticed." Spider-Man said.
"Because they won't. As long as they can use magic those witches won't bat an eye if a piece is gone. But what they don't realize is that they don't need to be near the entire stone to use magic." Fafnir said.
"They don't?" Spider-Man asks interested.
"As long as they're near even a small piece of it they can use magic just about anywhere." Fafnir points out.
"You don't say," Spider-Man said looking at the stone with interest before turning his attention back to the dragon. "That was a dick move you pulled with that debt. You better plan on paying them back in full."
"I suppose that's doable." Fafnir sighs. "And what if I don't you're gonna come back and pick a fight with me?"
"I don't want to but I will," Spider-Man said before realizing something. "You know, I pity you."
"Excuse me?" Fafnir glares.
"Look at you, look at this place. You have all this money but you're all alone and miserable." Spider-Man said.
"I'm a dragon, boy I can't exactly go out in public anymore," Fafnir said.
"Maybe not but maybe you should try using some of your money to help others. Give to charities or something. Help people in need." Spider-Man suggests.
"And why would I do it?" Fafnir asks not interested.
Firing a web, Spider-Man grabs Fafnir by the beard and yanks him down so his head is on the table and he can look him in the eyes.
"Because you can." Spider-Man declares. "You think the magical world is dying well you can help it. Be an anonymous donor. A sponsor. Share your wealth and help people who need it. Because if you think sitting in this cave all alone for the rest of your life is living then I pity you."
Hearing this Fafnir couldn't help but feel hurt. Every word he said was true.
"And who knows you might even make some friends along the way. If you have those then you're truly rich." Spider-Man said.
"Who said that?" Fafnir asks.
"Ritchie Rich." Spider-Man said but Fafnir tilts his head never hearing of that. "Are you kidding me?! You have access to all stocks and you can't look up classic movies?! Why don't you take your fortune and shell out a few bucks for some streaming services!"
"Geez alright take it easy," Fafnir said not expecting reactions like this.
"I just want to tell you that you've got quite the challenge ahead of you. I hope you can rise to the challenge your predecessor set for you." Fafnir said making Spider-Man shrug.
"We'll see. Try not to cause any more trouble Scrooge McDragon." Spider-Man said firing a web and swinging out.
Watching him leave, Fafnir smiles. 'Good luck Spider-Man, you're going to need it.'
The next morning, Jaden is walking through the halls of Luna Nova, and all over he hears that it's all thanks to Diana who helped get the Stone back. No mention of Spider-Man or anyone else who tried.
But that wasn't all that was forgotten.
As a witch bumps into Jaden, she glares at him.
"Hey watch where you're going." She glares.
"Sorry about that. Got distracted." Jaden said walking away.
Sadly most of the witches had already forgotten how much the Student Workers helped them.
Walking up to his locker, Jaden places his bag in it and notices the piece of the Sorcerer's Stone he got sticking out.
Looking at it, he remembered what Fafnir told him last night.
'You don't need the whole thing. As long there's a part of it nearby.' Jaden recalled getting an idea as he put it in his pocket.
"Well, well, look who's here." Turning around Jaden saw Diana standing across from him.
"Oh it's you," Jaden said glancing at her before turning back to his locker.
"I assume you know the Stone is back?" Diana asks.
"Yeah I heard it was brought back last night," Jaden said pretending he didn't already know what happened. "How did that happen?"
"I found a loophole in the Dragon's contract and got the stone back. Nothing too fancy." Diana said.
"Well good for you," Jaden said not caring.
"That's all you have to say?" Diana asks expecting some kind of snappy comeback.
"What's to say? You got it back. Good job. Hope you girls don't end up losing it again." Jaden said closing his locker.
"What's going on with you? I helped the entire school get its magic back." Diana said.
"So I've heard. All morning I've heard nothing but praise for you about how amazing and perfect you are, but you know what I haven't heard once?" Jaden asks and Diana waits for his answer. "Anyone talking about the Student Workers? When you were getting the stone back everyone else was struggling to do even the simplest of tasks. We could have easily just stood there and mocked you all like you do to us every day, but we didn't. We helped you girls get everything done while you got the stone back, but we didn't even get so much as a thank you.'
"That was you guys?" Diana said not expecting that.
"Yeah but while everyone is so focused on you they're just gonna forget about everything we did last night and go back to treating us Student Workers like garbage. So great job Diana I'm happy for you. You proved me wrong." Jaden said walking away.
Watching him leave Diana couldn't help but wonder what goes on in that boy's head. She saved the day but he didn't care in the slightest. All he was focused on was how he and the other student workers were treated.
Even though she thought she had won, Diana's victory was bittersweet.
In the laundry room, Akko, Amanda, and Iris' teams were forced to finish the laundry.
"I can't believe after all that we still have to do the laundry." Akko grunts.
"So unfair." Iris groans.
"Well, we did break the rules and leave." Lotte points out.
"At least there's not too much," Sucy said scrubbing.
"I can't believe Diana was the one who stole the spotlight in the end." Amanda groans.
"I know right." Akko whines.
"Why does she have to be so perfect?" Amanda asks.
"And that's why I'm looking forward to beating her. She's the perfect rival." Akko said..
"Akko you dream way too big. You know that?" Talia asks.
"Maybe start small and work your way up," Auriana suggests.
"Oh let her have it. The big dreams are always the best ones." Jaden said walking in.
"Hey Jaden, you missed so much last night." Akko smiles.
"I heard. I also heard you guys tried to get the stone back. Even though Diana was the one who did it, thanks for trying at least." Jaden said.
"Well nice to know someone appreciates our effort." Amanda smiles.
"You girls need a hand?" Jaden offers.
"Yes please." They all said instantly.
Chuckling Jaden got to work.
"You know Akko it's sad when someone with no magic can do better than you." Amanda smirks.
"Oh please! I can still do better than you!" Akko snaps.
"Oh no." Iris sighs.
"Here we go again," Auriana whined as the two started fighting again.
