That night was without question the most difficult Kim had ever experienced, and the hours went by slowly. Eventually, though, the sun came up and morning arrived. Kim resisted waking up her brothers as long as she could—they were sleeping peacefully, and they deserved a respite from all they had endured. But once she heard her parents up and active downstairs, she knew it was time for a very difficult talk. Gently, she nudged her brothers awake.
"Jim? Tim? It's morning."
The boys slowly woke up, and seemed to grow fearful as they came back to reality. "What's going to happen?" Jim asked nervously.
"You'll just tell Mom and Dad what you told me. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you to talk about, but they need to know. And don't forget that this time you won't be sharing it alone. I'll be right there with you just like I promised."
Swallowing hard, the tweebs slowly got out of bed, and Kim followed suit. The three siblings came out of Kim's room, and as they approached the staircase the boys started to tremble. Kim, fighting back tears as she saw how scared her brothers were, stopped to kneel down and give them a quick hug. "It's okay. We're going to get through this, I promise," she whispered to them. Getting back up, she gently took their hands in hers and they slowly made their way down the stairs.
James and Ann Possible, blissfully unaware of what had happened the previous day, were in the dining room. "Morning, Kimmie-cub," her dad greeted her from behind his newspaper. "How did the mission go?"
"Mission? Oh, right." Kim had been so wrapped up in the tweebs she had forgotten all about saving Mount Rushmore. "No big. Listen, there's something we need to talk with you about."
"What is it, honey?" Ann asked nonchalantly.
"Well, it's—it's kind of serious. Can we go to the living room?"
Kim's request left her parents very concerned. Whatever this issue was, it clearly wasn't an everyday teenage problem. "Certainly, sweetheart," her mother said as they made their way to the living room. Both Drs. Possible sat on the loveseat and looked at their children. "You have our undivided attention. What's wrong?"
Taking a deep breath, Kim sat down on the couch with her brothers on either side of her. She was already starting to choke up and she wasn't even the one who had been harmed, so she knew this had to be so much worse for them. She gently placed her arms around the boys and gave them a little half-hug. "It's going to be okay," she reiterated to them, her voice cracking with emotion. "I'm right here. Just tell them what you told me."
Tim took a deep breath, clearly scared out of his mind. "You—you remember the detention we got yesterday?"
"Yes, your school called us about that," James replied. "What about it?"
"Well, um, it wasn't just a detention," Jim was starting to cry again. "Mr. Gray, the gym teacher—he did things to us while we were there."
The looks on their parents' faces quickly turned from concern to horror. Much like Kim had the previous night, they quickly understood the implications of what was being said. "What do you mean by 'things'?" their father asked, looking afraid to hear the answer.
"He made us take off all our clothes. We wanted to keep our underwear on, but he said we had to take that off, too. And then he—he touched us here." A tearful Tim pointed to the zipper of his pants.
"Oh my God," Ann whispered as tears started to flow down her own cheeks.
"And then he made Tim lie down on the floor," Jim went on. "He made me go over to him and—and—" The boy was clearly having a hard time saying what had happened, prompting Kim to kiss the top of his head. "It's alright, Jim. You're doing great," she whispered to him.
With his older sister's encouragement, Jim continued. "He made me touch Tim there. And I—I had to put it in my mouth."
A sobbing Tim nodded. "Then we switched places and-and I had to do it to him."
Ann buried her face in her husband's shoulder, openly crying. James held her and tried to comfort her, but he was feeling every bit as devastated—and, truth be told, a little guilty. He had always worried about his beloved Kimmie-cub being sexually taken advantage of, but it had never occurred to him that it could happen to his sons as well.
"Then he took his pants off, and—and we had to touch him," Jim said. "Then he made us face the wall, and he—he—p-put himself inside us."
Ann had heard enough. Her precious sons had been flat-out raped by some monster, and they were hurting more than she could imagine. Her mother's heart couldn't take any more. "My poor babies! Oh God, I'm so sorry!" she sobbed as she hurried over to the couch to hug her sons. James was right behind her, and all five Possibles shared a tearful group hug for the next several minutes.
Once they broke their embrace, James looked at the boys with a mix of heartbreak and confusion. "Why didn't you tell us that yesterday? We could have helped you a lot sooner."
"We were scared," Tim admitted. "And we thought it was our fault. But when we told Kim, she said it wasn't and she was proud of us for telling."
"Your father and I are very proud of you for telling, too. You did the right thing," Ann told them. She smiled at her daughter. "And Kimmie, we're also very proud of you. It looks like you really helped them a lot."
"So what happens now?" Jim asked. "Going to school when he could . . ."
"Don't you worry. You're not going to school again as long as that Mr. Gray is there," James said firmly. "We're going to talk with the police and make sure that he gets sent to prison for a long time."
"We should also take you to the hospital," Ann added. "Speaking as a doctor as well as your mother, I want to make sure you haven't been physically harmed. What he did to you can really injure that part of your body, especially given your age."
James nodded. "That's a good idea, honey."
Ann gave her sons another hug. "What do you say I make some blueberry pancakes? I think you two deserve something fun after all you've been through." Blueberry pancakes were the tweebs' favorite breakfast.
For the first time since coming home, Kim saw her brothers smile a little. Not very much and only for a split second, but they definitely smiled. "Sure. We—we'd like that."
Ann kissed them both on the cheeks and went off towards the kitchen. Meanwhile, James had already gotten on his cell phone. "Middleton Police Department? Yes, this is James Possible. No, my daughter's not looking for more work. I'd like to report a crime. Get me to the special victims people." He sighed. "No, this isn't about my daughter dating. Believe me, I really wish it was. Yes. Thank you."
Kim was lost in her thoughts as she stayed on the couch while she and her brothers held each other. This had been a very hard morning for all of them, and she knew that the day would continue to be difficult. But what mattered was the problem was on its way to being solved.
"Kim?" Tim said to her.
Kim turned to look at her brother. "Yes?"
"Thank you for helping us. We're glad you're our big sister."
It was so sincere and so heartfelt that Kim started to cry all over again, this time with happy tears. "And I'm glad you're my little brothers," she said as she hugged them close. "I'll always be here for you no matter what."
