The Devil of Light: Chapter 03
A group of Titans, led by their towering 15-meter leader, were in fervent pursuit of two devils who had just fled from an elven town. The leader, his body encased in plates of hardened skin—except for the muscles on his cheeks and the tissue behind his knees, elbows, and feet—was seething over the recent events.
Having incapacitated the last of the elves' warriors, the town was theirs for the taking. But as they prepared to enter, a cursed red barrier erupted, thwarting their advance. The few Titans who dared challenge the barrier were torn to shreds.
Minutes later, a group of devils burst through, scattering in all directions. Believing one of them responsible for the barrier, the Titan leader, along with his fellow commanders, resolved to hunt down and eliminate them.
They zeroed in on two devils—one brunette and one with dark hair—as they weaved through the forest. Although the dense woods hindered their progress, the Titans were slowly closing the distance. However, the devils were swift, making the chase anything but straightforward.
As they entered a foggy area, visibility worsened, complicating the pursuit even more.
"Spread out and find them!" the leader commanded. He watched his soldiers fan out, his mind racing with thoughts about the devils' reasons for being in such a secluded elf community, which lacked significant resources or strategic value—unless...
Unless it was the elves themselves they were after.
He frowned at that thought. Could that be? Maybe they were just competition.
Disturbed by this notion, he shook his head—it didn't matter. He was determined not to let these interlopers take what belonged to them.
Lost in thought, he was startled by nearby explosions, followed by several more. Assuming his Titans had engaged the devils, he moved toward the commotion.
What he found was unnerving: several of his soldiers lay dead, their heads burst open or their bodies melted. What was happening?
Another loud bang echoed ahead. It was clear they'd walked into a trap. Proceeding with caution, he ordered all but two of his troops to advance and trigger any further traps. They were just failed experiments anyway, cannon folders that could be discarded at any time.
He followed after them slowly, watchful and alert.
'BAAM,' the sound came again. They were close.
As they reached the battlefield, the scene was shocking. The dark-haired woman was decimating his Titans, their heads bursting under her bare fists as if made of plastic.
"Come on, men, surround her!" He shouted to the five remaining Titans. They approached her from all sides, but she stood unflinchingly as a cloud of dust rose from the combined strength of their blows.
He relaxed slightly, unable to see her through the dust but confident of their victory. 'Stupid devils,' he thought. All he heard about devils and their arrogance seemed to be true.
'Well, one down,' he thought.
He started walking toward the dead devil. There was no way that devil could stand that many hits.
Now the only thing that was left was to look for the other devil and kill her.
An evil smirk started forming on his deformed face. Or maybe not. The remaining devil was pretty hot. Maybe he could ask his boss for her once this job was over. A pity that the black-haired one was dead. She was quite the looker too.
But a sudden noise stopped his thoughts.
"Is that all you have got?" A feminine voice said.
Suddenly the dust cleared and what he saw baffled him. The devil was unscathed, without a mark on her body. But his Titans... his Titans had their arms broken! What the hell?! How was that possible?!
Without giving them time to heal, that damn devil started attacking them.
"This is how you punch!" she shouted, her fist connecting with a Titan's head, tearing it from his body. Another one tried to immobilize her by grabbing her arms, only for her to grab his arms and tear them up from his body with just brute strength, followed by turning around rapidly and kicking said Titan in the head, ripping it apart. Blood and body parts were scattered everywhere.
Turning her red eyes toward the remaining Titans, she continued her ruthless assault.
The leader watched in disbelief. Titans, even failed experiments, should not be dying this easily. But she crushed them like insects with her brute strength—an anomaly since devils were known for their magical prowess.
But seeing what that woman was doing to his men...
She put her bare hands right through the top of the head of the last one he had sent her way and pulling her arms apart, she ripped say Titan in two.
After finishing off the last Titan, she turned to him, her gaze piercing. "Are you just going to stand there, or are you going to fight?" she challenged.
Gritting his teeth, he suppressed his fear and charged at her, roaring. Did she think that he was a pushover like the rest?
"AHHH!" He roared at her.
He will show this freak who was the weak one!
Yuri watched dispassionately as the Titan leader approached. So far, none of the enemies had posed a challenge. One little hit and they were down.
Even this armored giant seemed unimpressive. Sure, he was bigger and he had what looked like armor but even so, if he was anything like the ones she had battled so far, he would also be pretty lame.
As he leaped toward her with a clenched fist, she smirked. "At least this one has spirit," she noted, bracing herself.
When their fists collided, a thunderous sound filled the forest, and when the smoke cleared, the Titan was missing an arm, while Yuri was unscathed except for a torn sleeve.
The Titan didn't understand what had happened. Just before his fist connected, he utilized crystal-like hardening around his fist, to make it tougher. But all he managed to do was lose an arm... and ruin his opponent's clothes.
He looked at that devil's eyes and felt dread at the anger that he saw in them.
For her part, Yuri was furius. How dare he? How dare that monster to- to-
"How dare you ruin my clothes! This was a gift from my lover, you son of a bitch!" she shouted at him. "I am gonna tear you apart limb by limb for this," she promised him.
The Titan, seeing only dead in her eyes, began to panic.
'This was not supposed to happen! This was supposed to be an easy job!'
Go to the forest, kidnap some elves and sell them to the highest bidder.
But that was it! The only resistance was supposed to be a few elf warriors. Nothing else! So where did this.. this monster come from!?
Was he gonna die here? No, NO! He refused to let that happen!
He looked a the last two Titans that he had left.
"What are you waiting for!? Kill her!" He shouted at them. They won't last longer but with a bit of luck, he could use their dead as a distraction so he could escape.
But something was happening. The two Titans weren't moving.
"What are you doing!?" He started to yell, desperately.
"Oh, they won't be able to help you," a voice said above him.
He raised his head and saw the other devil he had been chasing, flying above them. She was smiling predatoryly at him.
"You see, they are dead," she said, filling his heart with fear.
He turned his eyes once more at the two Titans, and, as if they were puppets whose strings had been cut, they fell.
Once they crashed to the ground, he could see what had happened to them. On the back of their neck, the two have several Japanese broadsword-sized kunai embedded in their necks.
He could only look at them as his heart beat faster and faster. How did she know? If she had used those weapons in any other part of their body, she would have accomplished nothing. His men would have regenerated the damage within seconds and just kept fighting.
He then turned his eyes at the rest of his butchered men. What he saw made his eyes widen. He could see that all the attacks that bitch have used affect the back of the neck.
He started to shiver. Would he really die here?
He took a step back. That was a mistake.
The raven-haired devil saw this and narrowed her eyes.
"Oh no, you won't run away!" She said quickly flying toward him.
He saw her form approaching him and tried to run away but his legs were paralyzed from fear.
The only part of him that seemed to be working was his mouth, which could only scream as death came for him.
The forest was soon painted red with the blood of his troops, as Yuri finished her brutal task.
"You know," Mei commented as she landed, "I'll never understand your fixation with hand-to-hand combat."
Yuri shrugged, smirking. "Melee combat is my specialty. Besides, it's more fun this way."
Mei sighed. "You are such a child," she said as she spread her wings and took off.
"Hey!" Yuri protested, chasing after Mei who laughed and teased her friend about their lover's potential disgust at the bloodstained Yuri.
In the western part of the forest, the wind carried laughter as one individual reveled in her unbridled power, crushing her enemies with a massive kanabo.
"Hahaha!" Yamato laughed as she swung her weapon once more, sending another enemy's head soaring into the sky as if she were playing baseball.
It wasn't the act of killing that amused her — though she did relish a good fight — but the sheer freedom to utilize her skills without restraint.
Her family had always scorned her for her gender and lineage. But now...
Her smile broadened. Now, she had carved her own path and found comrades who accepted her for who she was. Now, she could truly live!
Caught up in her thoughts, Yamato was blindsided when a Titan's arm struck her, sending her hurtling toward the ground. She crashed, raising a cloud of dust that obscured her form.
The Titan paused, trying to ascertain if he had managed to take out the devil.
"Ringing Turnip!" A voice called from below just before a vertical blue energy beam shot through the dust cloud, striking his torso and vaporizing everything above her neck, ending the beast's life.
On the ground lay a disheveled Yamato, kanabo raised overhead, her clothing wrinkled.
Eyeing the fallen monster, she rubbed the back of her head. "Damn, Raskreia-san is going to scold me for letting my guard down," she muttered to herself. "Unless..." Glancing around and seeing no one, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank god—" she winced at the word, still adjusting to her devilish nature, "—Karasuba-san isn't here to rat me out," she continued, taking to the air once more in search of more enemies.
As she flew, Yamato pondered the whereabouts of her fellow Devil. She occasionally stumbled upon a decapitated body but saw no signs of her comrade.
She hummed thoughtfully. Although new to the squadron, she was familiar with the rumors: how she and several other women were human experiments during World War II, conducted by the Japanese and German governments until they were rescued by Jaden and his band of mercenaries.
And how Karasuba, one of the most fearsome members of the Zed Company, had joined alongside another of Yamato's peers in the second squadron.
But the Titans she found had been methodically killed. Decapitation wasn't the cleanest method, yet it was far from the worst.
Not limps lying around, not excessive injuries. It was alm-
Suddenly, Yamato felt a small rock hit the top of her head. She caught it before it could hit the ground and examined it curiously.
'Where did this come from?' she wondered. Another rock struck her shoulder.
Was someone throwing rocks at her? Suddenly, a medium-sized rock crashed near her, striking a tree and knocking it over.
A bad feeling washed over her as she looked up to see a rain of rocks descending from the sky.
"What the he—!" she managed to exclaim before a rock struck her, sending her crashing to the ground.
"Ugh," Yamato grunted, struggling to push the rock off, but failing as more rocks piled on top of her.
The rocks didn't cause severe damage, but they prevented her from rising.
"Raskreia-san will be really mad at me," she lamented as she was buried under a growing heap of stones.
The Beast Titan raised his arms in victory, having successfully bombarded his target with rocks.
After witnessing how that devil decimated his men with just a mace, he was satisfied to engage her from a distance.
This job was becoming more complicated than anticipated. The appearance of these devils wasn't part of the plan.
And to further complicate matters, there was still another devil to contend with.
But where was she? He hadn't seen her since they followed those women into the forest.
However, he had seen the results of her work.
Several of his Titans had been beheaded throughout the forest. He knew he had to be cautious; he didn't want to end up like them.
Still, his remaining Titans were searching for her, and once they found her, he planned to kill her just as he had the other.
"Oh my," a voice said from above, making him shiver.
He looked up to see the gray-haired devil, her gaze fixed in the direction of her buried friend, a smile on her face.
"That child let herself be buried under a ton of rocks by a mere monkey," she remarked casually, as if discussing the weather. "She still has much to learn before she can pose a challenge. Still, this will serve as a valuable lesson. Never let your guard down in the middle of a battle," she concluded, setting her steely gaze on him.
He didn't appreciate the way she looked at him, as if he were nothing more than a nuisance she could easily swat away.
Wait, did she just imply the other devil was still alive? Even after being bombarded with all those rocks?!
If that was true, these women were more formidable than he had realized.
The devil just looked at him, then tilted her head.
"Well?" she asked with a bored tone. "Aren't you going to run?" She prodded him.
The Titan narrowed his eyes. With a roar, he prepared for battle.
"HAAAGG!" he shouted as he lunged at her with his claws.
Her smile only widened, and she darted toward him. Dodging his thrust, she landed on his arm, swiftly spiraling around it, slicing it into ribbons as she advanced toward his head, the smile never leaving her face.
The Titan only saw a blur pass over his shoulder as the remains of his arm fell to the ground, sliced to pieces. He couldn't believe how fast the devil was! Sensing her approaching his neck from behind, he covered it with his hand only to see another blur pass in front of his face.
That was the last thing he saw as his vision was carved away.
"Agh!" he exclaimed. While he felt no pain, losing his sight was still a disturbing sensation.
The next thing he knew, the tendons in his feet were cut, causing him to fall to the ground, the air knocked out of him.
'Is this it?' he wondered, terrified. Was this how he would die?
Then he heard a voice from above.
"And this is another one," said the same devil, her voice dripping with boredom. "You might have been bigger and uglier than the average monkey," she said as her voice rapidly approached. "But a monkey is still a monkey," were her last words to him.
In a panic, he tried once more to cover his neck with his remaining hand, only for it to be mercilessly cut to ribbons like the other.
The last sensation he felt was a piercing pain in the back of his neck before everything went dark.
'How could things have gone so wrong?' Those were his last thoughts.
Karasuba glided silently toward her fellow devil.
'What a boring job,' she thought.
One might think that with such massive bodies, these creatures would present a greater challenge. But no, as always, monkeys would be monkeys.
She landed near the pile of rocks that buried the other devil.
She waited a few seconds to see if her companion would emerge on her own until she finally lost her patience.
Karasuba sighed. "Yamato," she called out. "If you don't dig yourself out in the next minute, I'll tell Jaden you're too weak to be part of Zed Company," she threatened, almost feeling how her comrade tensed beneath the rocks.
"O-one second, Karasuba-san!" Yamato's voice emerged, strained as she exerted more force to free herself.
Karasuba smirked at the panic in her voice. She knew she had hit a nerve. One of Yamato's greatest fears was being seen as unnecessary by their leader and being sent back home. Karasuba honestly didn't care much—this girl was still too weak to be truly entertaining, and she wasn't one of the lovers of their beloved leader like most of the squadron. She had no reason to be kind to the white-haired girl.
The pile of rocks began to tremble, and seconds later, stones flew everywhere as Yamato surfaced.
"Haaa!" Yamato exhaled sharply as she approached Karasuba.
Karasuba inspected her up and down. Physically, she seemed fine, but her clothes were a mess.
"I'm here, Karasuba-san," Yamato said as she stopped in front of her.
Seeing that she was unharmed, Karasuba turned away and spread her wings. "Come on," she said, taking off towards the town. "We need to finish the rest of our target."
She didn't need to look back to know that Yamato was following her.
"And while we're on our way," Karasuba said, a smile creeping across her face, "you might want to start thinking about what you're going to tell our Queen regarding letting your guard down in the middle of a battle."
Yamato stiffened for a moment before responding. "Yes, Karasuba-san," her voice carried a hint of relief.
That only made Karasuba's smile widen. "Twice," she added, causing Yamato to whine.
"Waaah, Karasuba-san!" Yamato sulked, her complaint eliciting laughter from Karasuba.
'Sometimes, these young girls our beloved recruits into Zed Company do have their uses,' Karasuba thought as she laughed, soaring through the sky.
In the southern part of the forest, the ground trembled under the weight of multiple heavy footsteps. From above, one would see several Titans in retreat.
Leading the group was the only Female Titan among the leaders, running as fast as possible while keeping a vigilant eye on the sky.
Confusion reigned. Moments ago, she and her men were tracking down two elusive devils, and suddenly, swords began raining from the sky. Normally, such weapons would barely scratch a Titan's tough skin, but these swords were different. Each strike pierced their thick hides with alarming ease.
Even she, with her hardened body, was not immune. If not for her rapid regenerative ability, she would be severely wounded.
Worst of all, they couldn't pinpoint the enemy's location.
Already several Titans had been killed. Their bodies lying on the ground behind them.
Exhausted from the chase, she stopped and backed against a tree, hardening her body further, and shouted, "Where are you?!" into the wind, scanning the skies but seeing no one.
She commanded the remaining Titans to mimic her stance against the trees to protect their neck, noticing that the mysterious attacks had carefully avoided damaging the trees. "Come out, you coward!" she yelled, attempting to provoke her unseen adversary.
In response, a new barrage of swords fell towards her. She hardened her body further and shielded her face with her arms, minimizing the damage, though the swords still stung painfully.
As one of the swords scratched the tree behind her, the onslaught abruptly stopped. Glancing at the mark on the tree, she smirked.
She hardened her claws and after placing them in the wood, she threatened the devil in the air. "Listen, you bitch, if you don't stop hiding and face me right now, I'll start carving this tree! Do you understand!?"
Silence hung in the air for a few tense seconds before one of the devils descended from the sky. The red-haired devil had changed her appearance since their last encounter. Now clad in an armor resembling the attire of an angel, she wore a revealing silver breastplate, large gauntlets, and a skirt adorned with wing-shaped decorations.
The Female Titan tilted her head, curious about the devil's angel-like armor but remained focused on the threat.
"There you are," she said with a smirk. "It was about time you stopped hiding like a coward," provoking a narrowing of the devil's eyes. "And don't you dare move," she commanded as she signaled for her Titans to place their hands on the nearby trees. "If you move a muscle, my men will destroy these stupid trees. So, how about you throw away your weapons?"
Seeing the Titans threaten the trees, the redhead hesitated before dropping her sword.
The Female Titan smiled conceitedly. "That's better," she said. "Tell me, where is your blonde friend?" But the devil remained silent, only staring at her and her Titans, almost causing the Female Titan to smile.
'The fear must be paralyzing her,' she thought.
"Well, it doesn't matter," she shrugged. "I'm sure she'll show up once we start tearing you apart," she said, before giving the other woman a sinister smirk. "Or maybe not. Maybe we'll just capture and sell you two. Two bimbos like you could fetch a high price," she threatened.
The redhead's piercing gaze intensified, and the Female Titan felt a bead of sweat trickle down her forehead.
'How is she doing this?' she wondered. They had her outnumbered and surrounded, yet she felt like the one trapped.
Suddenly, a rumbling sound came from behind the devil. The forest was too dense to see clearly, but something large was approaching.
"What are you doing?" she demanded.
"Do you really think you could capture me so easily?" the redhead finally spoke. As the ground trembled more intensely, the Female Titan strained to see what was happening.
"Whatever you are doing, stop it!" she ordered.
"I am not doing anything," the devil replied with a smile. "You've mentioned her several times, yet you assumed I was fighting alone," she said as a massive wave of water appeared behind her.
The wave towered over them, a menacing force of nature rapidly approaching.
The redhead devil flew up, avoiding the wave, as the Female Titan watched in horror, knowing there was no escape.
As the wave crashed down, the blonde devil joined her friend in the sky.
"YOU BIT—" the Female Titan started, but the wave engulfed her before she could finish.
Erza watched as the water carried the Titans away. She turned to her friend. "Good timing," she said with a smile to Tsukiumi. "I would have been in a tough spot without you."
"Hmm, of course," Tsukiumi replied proudly. "Those cowards were using the trees as hostages."
Erza's smile widened. Despite Tsukiumi's tsundere nature, she had a strong sense of honor and a deep loyalty to those she considered friends, traits Erza deeply respected, especially in situations like this.
"Thank you for the assistance," Erza said as the water's flow began to subside.
"Thou are welcome," Tsukiumi responded, preparing to descend toward the incapacitated monsters. "I assume thou want the leader?"
Erza's gaze hardened as she spotted the Female Titan trying to rise. "Yes, please handle the rest," she said, her armor glowing as it shifted forms.
Tsukiumi nodded, summoning water spheres around her as they prepared to deal with the slavers.
The Female Titan struggled to her feet, battered and exhausted from the onslaught. Despite her regeneration, the water attack had taken its toll.
"You dare to attack this peaceful village and kidnap its inhabitants," The redhead's voice boomed above her. The Titan looked up, only to be blinded by a brilliant light.
"When you and your monstrous troops were already being punished, you took these magnificent trees hostage," the devil continued as the light faded, revealing her in new armor, which consisted of a breastplate, waistguard, gauntlets and leg plates, which were all predominantly silver and olive green. The pauldrons also don the Zed emblem over each one and her legplates are designed with a decoration. The armor was worn with black pants, brown elbow pads underneath the gauntlets and complemented with an olive belt that was tied above the waistguard.
But what scared her the most was her weapon. It was a large, silver jousting lance that featured well-decorated designs over its vamplate. The pole was also of decent length, which was almost as long as the lance itself and featured a heavy-set pommel.
The devil's lance was pointing ominously at the Titan.
"But your greatest mistake was threatening my friend with slavery," she declared, her voice crushing any remaining hope as demonic power gathered at her lance's tip.
Desperate, the Female Titan looked around for any surviving allies, but her heart sank as she saw the blonde devil shooting high-pressured through her fallen Titans' necks, dispatching the last of her troops with ruthless efficiency.
"Know this, you who are about to die," the Titan raised her eyes once more toward her executioner. The only thing that she saw in them was fury and hatred while the redhead flew forward. "My name is Erza Belserion, Knight of the Zed Company's second squadron, and I will always protect those precious to me!"
The Titan tried to encapsulate her body in a crystal-like cocoon made of materials as hard as diamonds but Erza's lance pierced the crystalline cocoon like it was made of paper and everything went dark.
Tsukiumi had already finished with the few Titans left when she saw how her partner went through what appeared to be a cocoon made of diamond. She approached her partner, noting the blood stains on her armor.
"Are thou okay?" she asked. "You're usually not so dramatic when killing a target."
Erza wiped the blood from her face. "I'm fine. I just really hate slavers," she said, changing back to her usual armor. "Besides, she threatened to sell us as slaves."
Understanding Erza's protective nature, Tsukiumi crossed her arms. "Thou don't need to worry about me. I can take care of myself," she stated, though she knew Erza would always feel compelled to intervene.
Erza smiled. "I know you can, but that doesn't mean I won't get angry when someone threatens my friends," she replied as they prepared to return to the elf town.
Tsukiumi huffed, resigned to her friend's protective instincts.
Together, they flew back in silence, each pondering the events that had unfolded.
Blood saturated the eastern side of the forest. Bodies and fragments of flesh were strewn across the ground and draped over the trees.
The common Titans, unable to feel joy, sadness, or any other emotion, were merely failed experiments used as mindless weapons. Yet, even they might have felt apprehension at the gruesome spectacle unfolding before them.
A devil—there was no other word fitting for such a being—was mercilessly slaughtering them.
This devil landed atop the head of a Titan and, with a simple stomp, flattened it as if it were a soda can.
Behind her, a brave Titan leaped in an attempt to catch her off guard, but she spun around quickly, energy gathering between her hands to form a spherical vortex.
'Soul Extinguisher,' she thought, unleashing a massive black-purple beam that generated a devastating explosion.
The Titan caught the full brunt of the attack and disintegrated instantly.
Mira surveyed the remaining foes, sensing the palpable fear emanating from them as they gazed at her formidable Satan Soul Form. In this state, her eyes darkened, her eyelashes elongated, and markings similar to zigzag scars crossed her right eye vertically and adorned her thighs and breasts. Her hair wilder, ears elongated and pointed like those of elves, and her teeth sharpened to fangs, she was a sight of pure intimidation. Her forearms and hands were covered in scales, each sprouting a fin-like protrusion, and a large, metallic-looking tail trailed behind her.
Her attire had transformed into a dark, skimpy one-piece suit that revealed much of her arms, legs, and torso, edged with golden spikes and complemented by high-heeled, thigh-high boots and gauntlets that matched her fearsome appearance.
Yet, even looking like this, these monsters did not retreat. Spreading her wings, she soared towards the nearest one.
This Titan tried to grasp her, but she dodged effortlessly and slashed his neck with her claws, sending him crashing to the ground.
As the rest advanced towards her, Mira grew tired of the charade. Extending her hand, darkness swirled in her palm once more.
'Darkness Stream,' she thought, summoning a multitude of hands made dark energy that seized her enemies and lifted them from the ground.
Above the trees, her partner, Cassandra, was ready. Materializing a large, dull blade taller than herself, she grasped it with both hands as if wielding a ram and unleashed an immensely powerful particle beam.
The beam obliterated the suspended Titans, vaporizing everything it touched.
After a moment, Cassandra ceased her attack and lowered her weapon. Mira ceased her magic and joined her fellow devil. As she ascended, severed limbs rained around her, the remnants of the Titans whose torsos and heads had been annihilated by Cassandra's attack. All the wounds were cauterized; not a drop of blood remained.
Reaching Cassandra's side, Mira smiled. "Thank you for the assistance," she said, to which Cassandra only nodded.
Mira gazed at Cassandra with affection before gently taking her hand, knowing that Cassandra and her sisters preferred telepathic communication over verbal. Through physical touch, they could transmit thoughts and feelings directly, a joy granted to very few due to their painful past.
And what a joy was, at least for Mira. Through touch, she experienced the trust, goodness, and love Cassandra was capable of—all without deceit.
As Mira touched her, Cassandra conveyed her thoughts, making Mira smile. Though her face remained stoic, Cassandra was pleased to receive Mira's gratitude.
However, Mira detected doubts in Cassandra's thoughts, visualizing an image that sparked concern.
"You're right," Mira said, glancing around. "We're missing their leader. Where could he be?"
Suddenly, noise erupted behind them. Spinning around, they saw the Titan they were seeking, his claws extended towards them.
Mira tried to react, but she was too slow; the monster's claws were already too close.
'Damned,' she thought as the claws neared her face.
But then, everything halted.
Hidden in the tree canopy, the Jaw Titan had been watching his forces decimated by the devil.
And what he saw terrifies him. He witnessed how one of his Titans was crushed with ease by a simple stomp. A stomp!
And that dark energy that the white-haired one used... it was extremely dangerous. Several of his Titans were killed by that same energy. The other devil was up there, above the tree, observing how her friend destroyed his men without needing to intervene.
Then, the white-haired devil trapped his Titans with her dark energy and let the other devil finish the job with only one attack.
'What a pair of monsters,' he thought. Maybe he should run? After all, this job wasn't worth dying for.
But as the two devils briefly paused, holding hands, What were they doing?
He observed them for a few seconds, before smirking. This was his chance. Forgetting thoughts of escape, he leaped towards them, claws poised to strike.
'This is it!' he thought, anticipating their deaths would elevate his status.
His hands nearly reached them when suddenly his momentum stopped, and he was suspended in mid-air, paralyzed. Without falling.
"What the hell is going on?!" he yell, bewildered.
Mira faced the suspended Titan, not surprised by his confusion.
"It's not every day someone stops moving midair," she remarked, turning to Cassandra with a grateful smile.
"Thank you," she said, and Cassandra nodded.
The Titan, realizing the devils were responsible, stammered, "Ho- how are you doing this?"
"You don't have the right to know, abomination," Mira replied sternly, dark power gathering in her hands. "The only thing you deserve is death."
"Soul Extinguisher," she declared, releasing the dark beam that obliterated the Titan.
"Finally done," Mira said, turning to Cassandra. "We should return to town," she suggested, and Cassandra agreed, spreading her wings to take off.
Just then, they heard distant noises like cannon fire, but constant. "Are those... steps?" Mira asked, alarmed at the sound being so loud despite their distance from the elf town.
How large was that Titan?
Cassandra immediately took off towards the sound, and Mira followed quickly.
Tatsumaki had been left alone in town with two new recruits; everything should be fine.
"Please," Mira whispered as they flew, "let everything be fine."
Hoped you like it.
