It was Chiro's turn to watch over the kids.
Whenever something happened during the day that required everyone, one person stayed behind to keep an eye over them. The first time was Jinmay, next it was Otto, then Sprx, now Chiro had his chance. Of course, he was able to hang out with the kids, but he didn't get to do that by himself.
Some of them ran around, especially Jasper and Dactyle, some of them played with each other, and the others were by themselves. So far, everyone had been behaving themselves well. The only exception was when Magma got angry and nearly destroyed a room so he had a thirty minute timeout. He was practically a toddler, yet he was pretty destructive. If a baby monkey could be that bad, he wasn't too sure if he wanted to know how the others were as kids.
Aside from that, Chiro headed to the kitchen and stopped at the doorway. He looked back at everyone. Since they'd been good, he figured he'd ask.
"Anybody want any snacks with Papa Chiro?"
Almost everyone's eyes lit up at the word 'snacks' and ran right over. Emerald Tinker was the only one to walk over. All nine of them were begging for something, even Magma was wanting a snack. Chiro glared at him.
"No, not you Magma, not after what you did an hour ago." He sternly denied. "Maybe Papa Otto would be lenient with you, but not me."
His face scrunched up as he plopped straight onto his ass. He wanted to growl so badly, but he knew he shouldn't. Jasper Skye stuck her tongue out at him. Magma huffed as he glared at her. Chiro crossed his arms.
"Jasper, don't be a little instigator or you won't get any snacks either."
She whined and grumbled under her breath. After a moment of waiting for any other actions like that, he turned around and went into the kitchen to get everyone some snacks. An idea popped to Jasper's mind and she pulled everyone together. She looked in the kitchen's direction a few times to make sure Chiro didn't come back too soon. Soma and Marino looked at her, wondering what she was up to.
Jasper quietly told everyone what she had in mind. Most of them agreed to the lighthearted plan right away while Soma wasn't too sure about it at first. Eventually he agreed to it, even if he felt it would be pointless to do it. Jasper had the biggest smile she ever had, as mischievous as it was. After that, everyone moved away from the discussion circle and they all acted like normal. Chiro came back after a few minutes and then everyone bundled around him. Some of them reached for him and the snacks he held.
"Unca Chiwo! Unca Chiwo!" They started chanting, albeit some were quieter than others.
Chiro dropped everything, thankfully the snacks were closed so nothing got anywhere, and put his hands up to his face. His eyes were wide open as he stared at them. Tears formed while his face turned red. He had a huge, quivering smile on his face.
That… wasn't the reaction Jasper was expecting.
That wasn't the reaction anyone was expecting, considering what Chiro had been calling himself for months now. He sniffed as his hand went down to his communicator. Chiro got connected to the others.
"Guys, I know you're doing something important but you won't believe what just happened." He started.
"What's wrong, Chiro?" Antauri asked, noticing the shakiness in his voice.
"They called me uncle!" Chiro cried.
Gibson chuckled. "That certainly took a while."
"I think he's happier to be a parent than we are," Nova joked. "And he was calling himself papa, too."
"I know I'm one of their dads and they're supposed to call me 'dad', but- but-"
He sobbed with happy tears. Everyone on the other side couldn't help but smile.
"We'll be back soon to hear the kids say that." Antauri said.
He closed the communication line for the time being. Chiro picked up multiple of the kids and hugged them. Jasper was still frozen, but she hugged him back.
When the Hyperforce got back, they saw the kids sleeping around Chiro.
