Magma took everything he needed out.
He had time to himself and man, he was lucky to have it. Everything was driving him crazy. The only thing that truly helped him at times like this was baking. It helped him concentrate on something else and everybody got some baked goods from it. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved. This time, he was making cupcakes since that was what they got.
He could've ran out for a mix of anything he wanted, but he knew he would do more damage than good. It was a time to calm his anger, not blow it out onto another group of people. Magma worked with what he had and that was fine. Several batches worth of cupcake batter got made. A couple trays were put into the oven for the cupcakes to bake. Magma sat down and waited.
Doors whooshed open and footsteps came through. Whoever came in sat down next to Magma. Magma took a glance to his side to see it was Marino. He crossed his arms as he leaned back.
"What do you want?"
"Nothing," Marino responded, "I merely wish to see how you are doing."
Magma's expression softened. "...Better than earlier, honestly. Baking's been helping."
"I'm glad." Marino smiled. He saw how much Magma made. "Do you require assistance with the rest?"
Magma looked at the batter then at Marino.
"Normally I would refuse, but you don't get on my nerves so you can stick around and help out with stuff I guess."
Marino chuckled. "If I did, you might be here even longer, then we would be stuck baking all night."
Magma laughed. "Like I'd mind a bakin' partner like you."
He saw a smile crawl up Marino's face. Marino was one of the few siblings of his that he genuinely didn't mind having around. He lived up to his name, being as calm and nice as the ocean.
Hermodactyloides could have a mute button, they always annoyed Magma with speaking something other than what he understood. Diamond was too bossy in his eyes and her grumpiness did nothing to help his own. Jasper never stopped with the pranks and whenever she did, he was always paranoid thinking about when the next one was coming. Astral was too lazy to get up and actually do much, so his efforts to get him to do something would go to waste and it would drive him nuts. It was usually something.
Okay it was just almost half of his siblings, not most, but it felt like a lot to him. It was nice having a change in pace for once, even if it would last a short amount of time.
The two chatted for a few hours. In the middle of them talking, they switched out the trays. If the cupcakes were cooled off, they decorated them. Magma handed him the pastry bag and put the nozzle tips between them so he wouldn't have to reach. Not that it would matter if he used telekinesis, but Magma figured it would be nice for less effort and struggle. Nothing needed to be said for him to know Marino appreciated it.
Emerald snuck in and tried to grab a cupcake. Marino noticed and stopped her hand with telekinesis. She softly gasped in surprise. Magma looked at her.
"Don't touch that, Emerald." He grabbed one that was already decorated and handed it to her. Marino released her hand. "Take this one. If you want more, we'll let you know when we're done."
She took the cupcake with a smile. "Thank you," she signed.
Magma smiled as she ran off while she ate the cupcake. It was times like this that he was happy he was trying to keep his anger under control. He didn't get mad at her trying to grab an undecorated cupcake. Magma didn't get mad at her or some of their other siblings, but it would've been annoying at least and he was glad he kept calm. Marino also helped by being there.
It was genuinely nice, even if he wasn't completely there yet.
