Chiro took the kids outside the Super Robot.
They tried to make sure the kids had at least a few days outside. Chiro wanted to be the one to take them outside this time. They weren't too sure about him going by himself, considering it was usually two of them going at once or all of them. He said that he'd be fine with them and after a moment, they let him go out. They just told him that if he needed anything to call them. He nodded, let them know that they could call him too, and left with the decuplets.
He took them around wherever they wanted to go in Shuggazoom City. Since they called him 'uncle' rather than 'dad' or 'papa', Chiro decided to take advantage of that and spoil them as much as he could. He took them to the park, the arcade, he considered the fair but he decided against it—he suddenly remembered that ooze circus incident and while everything ended up fine in the end, he didn't want to risk getting the kids into anything dangerous—he even let them explore for a while.
They were heading back home. It was an eventful day, there wasn't much else they could do now. It was mostly a good day, besides Magma, Hermo, and Jasper acting up some.
That was until Marino tugged onto Chiro's sleeve. He looked down at him. Marino pointed towards Jasper, Dactyle, Astral, Peridot, Emerald, Magma, and Aero. They were all over a window and a few of them had their tails wagging with Aero's tail wagging the most of the bunch. Chiro looked through the window and found out why they were all excited. Soma, Marino, and Diamond stood next to him.
Nearly all the kids were looking at the candy that was inside, all being different kinds. Astral was drooling the most out of everyone. Chiro could only chuckle seeing them like this. He'd forgotten they never had candy before, so of course they would be curious about it. He only worried about any possible allergies.
Chocolate was completely fine, that was nothing they had to worry about with the kids. He wasn't sure about peanuts or even peanut butter, they didn't give them any of that and they didn't think about trying it. There was no way that he could take the chance of one or more having an allergic reaction, Chiro wouldn't forgive himself for that, especially while he was away from the others. He'd have to be careful about what he could get them.
He looked at them. "How does trying out candy sound to you kids?"
All their faces lit up, especially Magma's and Jasper's faces. Before anything else, Chiro pointed his index finger at them.
"Besides you, both of you caused some trouble." He glared. "You'll have candy later when you two show better behavior."
Jasper's jaw dropped while Magma groaned. He pointed at Hermodactyloides.
"But what about Dactyle? He can't be free from this!" Magma complained.
"No, Dactyle isn't, but he's made less trouble so he gets a little bit. But since he still caused some, he's not getting a lot."
Dactyle quietly whined. Chiro caught it but he let it slide for the moment. He walked to the door and opened it. Almost all of them ran in with Marino and Soma being the only ones to walk in. Chiro kept an eye on everyone as they ran through the shop. The cashier simply stared as the kids passed by, though Chiro wasn't too sure if the expression on his face was from shock or fear.
He wouldn't blame him if it's either one, or even both. If he saw that before he had the kids, he would've wondered the same things he might've been wondering now.
Chiro looked back at the kids. Marino was with four of them while Soma was with the other four. The two were keeping an eye on the rest. Magma and Jasper tried to grab some from the shelves, but Marino kept smacking their hands away. Both made sure Hermo didn't grab more than two things. Marino grabbed a couple candy bags himself, and Soma grabbed the same amount. The rest grabbed multiple different kinds.
Chiro counted each bag they had and he blinked a few times. Soma and Marino had two while the rest had five or six. He had a double take and recounted.
Nope, definitely around that amount.
Chiro nervously chuckled. "Do you really need that much candy?"
Most of them stopped moving. They looked at each other before looking at him. They nodded in almost perfect sync.
"Yep!"
"I wanna go all the way!"
"I don't know what I'll like…"
"Me neither."
"Why not?"
Everyone spoke at once. Chiro couldn't catch everything they said. He motioned them to calm down. He awkwardly smiled.
"We shouldn't go overboard. I- I don't know how much you kids can handle. Just get three things for now." Chiro told them.
Some of them depressingly walked away. Everyone who grabbed more than three put a few things back. Dactyle tried to grab more candy but Soma had to keep stopping him. In the end, Hermodactyloides came back with only one thing of candy, his arms crossed, and a pouty look on his face.
Chiro had them stay next to him as he took the snacks to the front. He handed them to the cashier, going by one kid at a time. The cashier took them and scanned each of the candy. He only glanced to make sure he did his job right.
"So uh," he started, "are they yours or are you just watching them?"
"Oh, nah, they're ours." Chiro responded.
He paused. "All of them?"
"All of them." Chiro handed Marino and Soma their stuff.
He nervously chuckled as he scanned more. "I… can't imagine taking care of that many kids. I mean, just two's enough. At least there's six of you to raise them."
Chiro snickered. "Helps that most of them are well behaved. The main troublemakers are Magma, Jasper, and Dactyle here."
"Hey-"
Magma quieted himself as fast as he opened his mouth. He simply crossed his arms and turned around. He grumbled something, but Chiro couldn't understand what he said. He did, however, think it was a good decision he made, blowing up would've made it worse for him.
Not that Chiro would say it, Magma would have to know it was a good decision he made himself.
Jasper simply whistled like she was innocent and Dactyle didn't pay much attention to what he said. Diamond occasionally looked up at him, but she didn't say anything. She knew she had her moments as well that would land her with three of her siblings.
"I guess the rest are well behaved. Can't be my kids." He tried to laugh about it.
"I'm sure it gets better… hopefully." Chiro paid for everything.
"I doubt it, but hope you have a good day. Good luck with those kids."
Chiro handed everyone their candy. Astral tried to run out, but Marino and Soma stopped him simultaneously. He whined as they pulled him back to the group. Chiro could only shake his head with a smile on his face.
"You too, sir." He waved him goodbye.
They all left the store. Chiro looked at them.
"Okay, everybody can eat some of their candy on the way back. Hermodactyloides will have to wait until we get inside the Super Robot."
Everyone nodded while Dactyle groaned.
"Keep that up and you won't be able to have it until tomorrow." Chiro smirked.
Dactyle crossed his arms. "Fine."
Chiro picked up Emerald, Peridot, Aero, and Astral. Everyone else followed closely behind him.
It wasn't like this would be a disaster, right?
How did this happen?
Somehow, Dactyle and Jasper had enough candy to bounce off the walls. Gibson hid himself as they jumped everywhere. Some stuff were accidentally knocked down. He felt too frozen to get up and do anything about it. Chiro ran to see what was going on and he arrived at a scene of them going everywhere so fast. He'd only bought Dactyle one thing of chocolate, he shouldn't be this bouncy, and Jasper shouldn't have had anything.
Unless Dactyle shared some of his candy or anyone else sharing theirs.
In which case, it might've been a mistake to leave them alone with the candy. He didn't know why it was a good idea to do that. Gibson saw him from where he was from. His eyebrows furrowed.
"Chiro, help me out over here!" He yelled out. "I'm dying over here! They're literally bouncing off the walls! I can't believe they got into the coffee again; I have to lock that somewhere so they can't get to it!"
Chiro nervously laughed. Gibson squinted and leered at him.
"So uh," Chiro started, "actually they had candy. That I bought them. Jasper shouldn't have had any and Dactyle didn't get much for either to be like this though."
Gibson's eyes slowly widened. His eyes grew in terror. He crawled over to Chiro without getting in the crossfire. He grabbed his shirt and pulled him down.
"Do you realize what you've done?!" Gibson shook him. "You've doomed me!"
Chiro gulped. He sweated as he looked away. He laughed more in the same manner as before. He tugged the collar of his shirt with his index finger.
"Uhh actually, Gibson, I might've doomed us all." Chiro corrected.
"What do you mean?!"
Chiro slowly pulled out Marino and Soma. Soma was glued to Chiro's arm as he nibbled it. His saliva was all over his jacket. His pupils were expanded by ninety percent. Soma's tail wagged so fast one could easily see images in between. Marino, on the other hand, was scrambling through his empty bags for more. He pulled his face out and his body shook. His mouth was covered in chocolate, peanut butter, and sugar coating. He leaned closer to Chiro's ear.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Chiro, but I crave more!" Marino nearly growled his desire. "I need more!"
Gibson looked at them and then back at Chiro. Chiro nervously smiled.
"...Chiro, why?"
"I didn't think getting the kids candy would be a bad idea, but I never expected Marino and Soma to react this way." Chiro responded. "I regret getting them candy at this age."
"I sure hope you regret it because you doomed us all "
They stared at each other for a few seconds.
"Chiro?"
"Yeah?"
"You're no longer allowed to give any of these four any candy. Not until they're way older, anyways."
"That's fair enough." Chiro's lips pressed together before he looked behind him. "Hey, guys, help us out!"
Nova and Antauri came out.
"What's the problem, Chi-"
Nova's jaw dropped. Antauri had to do a double take when he saw Soma and Marino in the state they were in. He lifted his hand. All the kids in the area levitated over to him. Antauri handed Marino and Soma to Nova.
"Nova, dear, you take those two while I get Hermodactyloides and Jasper Skye." His voice was monotone. "They… need my attention more."
"No problem, I can handle these two." Nova responded.
Antauri simply walked away with Jasper and Dactyle vibrating in the air. Soma started gently biting Nova's shoulder.
"Sugar…!" He said during the biting.
Nova looked at Chiro and Gibson. She raised an eyebrow.
"You gave them candy, didn't you?" Nova flatly asked.
Gibson pointed at him. "I gave them nothing."
"This was the last thing I expected. I didn't think it would affect the most well behaved ones." Chiro said.
Nova took Soma off her. "Ah, at least we know what candy does to these two. It'll take a bit to calm them down but we know what not to do now. Let us know next time you think of doing this."
"Will do." Chiro replied.
"Please tell us the other kids aren't like this." Gibson pleaded.
"Everyone else is fine. They're actually normal about this." Chiro explained.
Gibson blinked a couple times before he sighed in relief. His hand went up to his helmet. His expression softened, showing how stressed and overwhelmed he felt underneath. If anything, Gibson looked ready to collapse.
"Thank goodness. If you need me, I'll be with Otto."
He walked away. Chiro couldn't blame him in the slightest. He looked at Nova, who walked over to the kitchen to do what she could for Marino and Soma. Chiro simply followed. He lightly snorted. He tried not to laugh, but he definitely couldn't help but smile.
With everything being handled now, it was a situation he had to laugh about.
