Kaminari loved exploring.

She always loved seeing something new, finding new places, for as long as she could remember. Her earliest memory was trying to explore the outskirts of Shuggazoom City, trying to see what was out there, before Chiro grabbed her before she got too far. Her arms reached out into what was unknown to her.

"You can't go out on your own, Kami," Chiro chuckled. "If you want to explore, then I'm coming with you."

He stuck true to his word. When she became four, he took her out into the forest. He kept Kaminari close enough and made sure she didn't get hurt. It started with smaller areas, like one part of the outskirts, and Chiro slowly expanded how far she could explore over the years. He always stayed by her side too so she was never exploring alone. If it went on for more than one day, they camped out wherever they were. Chiro made sure to let the others know where they were going and kept his communicator on him in case there was an emergency.

It was the happiest Kaminari seemed to be if she wasn't with Marino. Chiro seemed to be excited too when they were out. He talked about how he used to explore a good bit before he met the others, how he hadn't been able to do it too much after the fact. The smile on his face said it all. His joy was all she needed to keep exploring with him rather than explore with somebody else. It didn't mean she wouldn't probably drag someone else to go with them.

When they started exploring together, one thing became extremely apparent to Chiro. Kaminari liked climbing things, especially trees. The first time it happened, Chiro looked away for one second and she just disappeared when really she just climbed up onto a tree. He had to chase her up there just to make sure she didn't get hurt. She got upset, though, knowing she scared him even without meaning to. Chiro went up into the tree tops with her for the first few years.

Every time Kaminari was at the top, her eyes and grin grew wide. Her tail wagged from side to side as she viewed everything around her. Her hair blew with the wind. The amount of joy she felt was immeasurable and indescribable. It never failed to bring a smile on her face, no matter how many times she did this throughout the years. Spring, summer, fall, winter, the beauty never changed for her.

One time, while they were in the treetops, Kaminari noticed something weird with the tree hollow. It was just big enough for Chiro to go inside the tree if he wanted to. It looked deeper than the others, at least to her anyway. She was about to call for him when her hand slipped and she fell. She yelped as she fell through. Chiro immediately ran over to the hole.

"Kaminari!" He yelled out. "Are you okay?!"

"I'm fine! But you gotta check this out, Papa!"

Chiro raised an eyebrow. He went inside with a flashlight on. He helped Kami up and they explored the inside. Apparently there was plenty of room inside the huge tree, enough for someone to make a small getaway place. It would need work, but it might be possible. Chiro looked at Kaminari with a smile.

"So how do you feel about having a hideaway of your own?" Chiro asked. "I won't guarantee it'll work, but I'll try for you."

That lit her up faster than light could touch the tallest building in the capital city. It was a visual answer to his question.

Chiro and Nova worked together to make it suitable for her to hang out there whenever she wanted to. They cleaned it out, took whatever unused pillows and blankets to make it comfortable, and made sure it was well lit. Nova put in plenty of plushies she knew Kami liked and Chiro put some stuff she could entertain herself with. The others contributed as well with little things. Stuff Jinmay created by sewing, posters from Slingshot—he wasn't sure what to give her—some potted plants from Marino and Antauri, toy planes from Sprx and Aero, space related things from Gibson, Astral, and Diamond that wouldn't easily break, and so on.

They might've went overboard, but Kami knew they loved her and just wanted her own space to be perfect for her. Regardless if they did go overboard, Kaminari got comfortable with it and treated it as another room she owned. She loved every bit of it and took care of it. Her parents made sure that they could find it again through little trails leading to it. Chiro knew how he'd get back, but Kaminari wasn't there just yet.

Kami always went to the tree whenever she wanted to. A little break from exploring, wanting to be in her own little place outside the Super Robot, bringing her siblings and any friends she made over to it, simply wanting to be alone, any reason at any time.

Besides late into the night, none of her parents wanted her to do that by herself until she was way older.

When she got closer to ten years old, they took Kaminari with them to other planets. One person always stayed with her and stayed close to the Super Robot. They didn't want her to stray too far in case there was trouble, which annoyed her because she wanted to explore the planet. Why bring her if she wasn't gonna be allowed to explore? Marino usually volunteered to watch her, regardless if the others stayed inside or not. It made her feel a little better, but not that much. It wasn't until she got into her teen years that she was able to have more free reign over exploring other planets. Chiro still went with her to explore, of course.

Kami drew maps of the places she had thoroughly explored. Each of them were labeled with the name of the areas they explored. The first one they ever made was of the outskirts, and it was the most detailed. Her drawing skills weren't as good as Soma's or Peridot's, but it was good enough for cartography. If it was detailed enough to her liking, then it was good enough for them. The others simply think she was being modest about her skills, but Kami knew how it really was and they were okay with it.

At the end of the day, Kaminari simply put up her jacket and laid down on the bed. They had their family, their home, an amazing and beautiful city to live in, there wasn't anything more she could ask for. They had her back and they supported her every step of the way.

Kaminari sighed as she closed her eyes.
