So, in case you're not aware, earlier today, around 2:00 in the afternoon, Winslow suddenly collapsed. As of today, there isn't a confirmed number of casualties just yet as the first respondents are still checking, but over three hundred students have been confirmed missing, likely buried beneath the rubble. The cause remains unknown. Witnesses say they didn't hear any explosion or see any fires. One moment the school was standing and, suddenly, its in little pieces and falling apart.
There has been some speculation that it might be cape activity, but there's no proof of that just yet and no one's come forward with anything, but I'll keep my ear to the ground. If you know anything or saw anything related, go ahead and tell everyone. There's a serious lack of information on this incident, honestly.

Holy shit. I was there when the whole fucking building went down. And I barely saw shit. One moment I'm standing outside, enjoying a sandwich, and suddenly the whole thing comes tumbling down and everybody's panicking and running. Jesus Christ, I'm fucking running too.

Oh my god. So, that's what that was? I was driving by earlier and boom! Big fucking cloud of dust shoots up into the sky and shit. Can we get any updates? Does anyone know what happened to all the students who were inside?

I was walking across the street when the damn school just dropped. And Bagrat's right. There was no explosion – nothing. The whole thing started falling apart right then and there. Literally! I just blinked and bam! It's all rubble! I had no idea what the fuck happened so I ran the fuck away as fast I could. My knees still hurt too. Would really love an update, though. Can't imagine what those poor students must be feeling, trapped in all that rubble – assuming any of them are still alive.

Let's not lose hope just yet. There's plenty of firemen, medics, and policemen on the scene!

I bet it's gang related. Everyone knows Winslow's a recruitment pool for the ABB and Empire – got skinheads and yakuza wannabes running around the place. They probably messed around or some shit and now three hundred students are fucking dead.

Why would they blow up their own recruitment pool? Your comment doesn't make any sense, honestly. It seems to me that Winslow's just as shitty as ever. I'd say this was probably some kind of engineering mishap that was just waiting to tip over and fall on everyone's head.

My uncle's a first respondent. He's on the scene right now. I called him and he told me that the rubble is... weird. It's cut too evenly and too cleanly, because everything's apparently either a square or a rectangle. His conclusion? Most likely cape shit. Because there ain't no way this shit happened naturally. Something cut apart the walls. Honestly, I'm not crossing any fingers for the students.
Hoping for the best, though.

Of fucking course. It's just had to be capes. Not surprised. Brockton Bay's got the highest concentration of capes per square fucking meter. This has to be a new one, though, because I've never heard of... honestly, what kind of power is this, anyway?

Guys, let's not turn this thread into a power or cape speculation thread. Focus on the matter at hand.

Well, folks, I have some... really tragic news. They found the students under the rubble, but none of them survived. They were cut up into cubes and rectangles, every single one of them. It's a massacre. The people on-site are having trouble piecing the bodies together, because it's a damn mess. Three hundred or so students, maybe more, all dead. A lot of the guys there are probably traumatized for life. No cape activity confirmed just yet, but I think it's pretty obvious at this point: there's a new cape in town.
The PRT has been called to the scene. I think Armsmaster is on the way. At this point, let's all cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I'm usually happy when I'm right about things, but not this time. Please, god, don't let it be another psychopath with two much power in their hands. We don't need more of those.

Well... shit. Three hundred students... dead – kids. Jesus christ! Who the hell does something like this?! I'm pretty sure Lung doesn't have a kill count as high as that.

The Empire will not forget this travesty. Rest assured, the dead children will be avenged. We will not rest until we find who is responsible and they shall rue the day they were born.

I'm moving this thread to Power/Cape Speculations. Also, no death threats, please.
"Sophia Hess was among the casualties." Armsmaster informed the gathered members of the Protectorate. The responses, Piggot observed, varied greatly – ranging from shock to horror. Piggot herself felt... she wasn't sure what she felt, honestly. Bad, perhaps. Sad that a child died. Angered that she'd lost a hero in the making. And a whole host of other feelings that she couldn't quite process just yet. She was never fond of Hess, or Shadowstalker, but she was a kid – a teenager. She didn't deserve this fate, no matter how troublesome she might've been.
Armsmaster liked to play the stoic hero, but – out of everyone here – he was probably the most affected by Sophia's death. After all, Shadowstalker operated under his wing, his guidance... however distant and poor that guidance might've been. Underneath his mask, Colin cared. And the burden of informing the Wards about what happened also fell on him. That can't be an easy thing to do, honestly.
Assault, Battery, Miss Militia, Dauntless, and Velocity attended the meeting, unmasked, their expressions as clear as day. Horror.
Armsmaster than clicked the remote and showed all the pictures he'd taken when he arrived on the scene, alongside all the pictures taken by the forensics team. No one present here was a stranger to death. They'd seen mangled bodies before, belonging to both friend and foe. But this... this was something the Nine could easily claim to have done. Thousands of body parts were scattered amidst the rubble, the ground drenched in blood and gore. Armsmaster swallowed a lump in his throat and continued. "As you might have noticed, every single... body part was cut with extreme precision. A closer analysis revealed that this precision was all the way down to the molecular level; so, whatever... or whoever caused this used some kind of monomolecular cutting weapon or blaster ability."
"Victims had no time to run or flee, which meant everything and everyone was cut down instantly," Armsmaster finished. Piggot could only frown. Already, she could feel the Youth Guard up in arms over Sophia's death, but the damage was done; at best, they'd compensate the Hess family and... that would be it. The teenager was dead, cut down into so many tiny pieces it was a miracle Armsmaster was able to recover any of her pieces in the muck. At the very least, she couldn't have suffered. None of the victims did. It wasn't much of a silver lining, considering there was now, most likely, a villain on the loose, who was capable of killing three hundred people at once and cause an entire building to collapse – instantly. And Winslow, for all its decrepit state, wasn't exactly a small school. But now, there was nothing left of it that remained standing. "Of the three hundred victims, twenty are school staff – teachers, janitors, security guards, and the principal herself."
"So," Piggot began, her tone grim and cold. Not even Assault dared to make japes this time – not in the light of this... tragedy, this massacre. "We're likely dealing with a Blaster with a tentative rating of 8 or a Tinker with a... tentative rating of 7. That's... not good. It means there's a very powerful villain on the loose at the moment. And, unless they decided to turn themselves in, it's entirely within the realm of possibility that any one of you can and will encounter this new cape. And we don't even know what they look like. We know, however, that this villain has no qualms about killing."
"Fucking three hundred..." Assault whispered, his eyes wide. Battery looked no different, but she kept her words to herself. Normally, Piggot would've chided him for the use of such crass words, but... he said what all of them wanted to say. "Nearly all of them kids... fucking kids. Not even the damn Nazis are this bad."
"Could it have been a trigger event?" Miss Militia raised, despite the slight break in her tone. Piggot had considered that. And, if that was the case, then someone, sooner or later, would come forward – hopefully someone wishing to be a hero, who'd willingly submit themselves to a very long probation period and a ton of guidance and a whole lot of therapy. But, the damage was done. There was no going back from something like this. Still, if someone came forth and admitted to everything, and professed a genuine desire to become a hero, then Piggot would do all she can to offer them a place in the PRT. She wasn't sure if Armsmaster would feel the same way, however. "This sort of thing... it might just be the work of a recent trigger."
"I've taken that into consideration," Armsmaster said, gritting his teeth just so ever slightly. "There's a 68.54% chance that the perpetrator is a student of Winslow. Whether or not this is the result of a trigger event is... plausible, but there's really no evidence to tell us anything; every single security camera was destroyed, alongside the security office that held all the recordings. So, we... have nothing."
"Couldn't we hire Watchdog to investigate this for us?" Battery asked. And, almost immediately, Piggot considered her question. It was a good idea, actually. Piggot would readily admit to being a prideful woman. She prided herself in being able to operate at maximum effectiveness with the least amount of resources, even though Brockton Bay had the highest number of cape-related crimes on this side of America. But this... three hundred dead in a single day... she needed help. She'd give the Chief-Director a call after this meeting. "Not even Armsy knows where to even begin to look. No offense, Colin."
"None taken," Armsmaster waved his hand. "You're correct. Not even Dragon has found anything substantial. And every single possible witness is dead."
Piggot nodded. "I'll talk to the Chief-Director."
"Ma'am," Dauntless raised his hand. Piggot nodded his way and gestured for him to speak. "What about the Wards?"
"We can't endanger their lives," Piggot said. "But we can't afford to just hide them away, either. So, for now, we'll keep their patrols as close to the Rig as possible, and only as deterrence. We don't know what this new villain looks like; so, they're not allowed to intervene in any crime or any situation. If they ask, then yes, they're only there to look good and pose and sign autographs and other PR nonsense. If they encounter anything remotely dangerous, then they're to retreat. I can't have another Ward dying under my watch."
"If we do encounter this... person," Assault said. "What can we realistically do? I don't know about you guys, but I actually like being in one piece – not diced into teeny tiny little cubes."
"For now, this threat is classified as B-Class; do not try to approach on your own. Though, that might be incredibly difficult without any goddamn information on what this person might look like." Piggot sighed. And that was, quite possibly, the most annoying part of all this. None of them knew who they were supposed to watch out for, what their main suspect looks like. For all they knew, the cape could've killed themselves in that initial attack and this would all be for nothing. But, if there's one thing she knew from experience, it was always better to be prepared for every possibility. "Regardless, if you happen to identify our suspect, run. Ironic as this may sound, don't try to be a hero."
Tears streamed from her eyes as she stared at the grinning face on the mirror, staring right at her.
"Oh, come on," Her reflection said, giggling and cackling like a monster – a demon. "You have to admit it was a little funny. Did you see the look on their faces when I cut them down to ribbons? Priceless. And don't you dare deny the satisfaction you felt at the deaths of your bullies, Taylor."
"You killed them!" Taylor screamed and punched the mirror, shattering it and cutting open her knuckles.
A mouth formed on her cheek. "HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH!"
