AN: I do not own Code Geass.
DarkDremora: I'll see what I can do about Shirley, as I don't want her to just be a static character whose whole personality is liking Lelouch.
Batazr: Nah, Kallen had to say that for full-effect on Suzaku.
Samurai seven: Oh, they'll fight for sure.
Ryuto: Okay, so I will be answering your questions to the best of my abilities, and sorry to everyone who doesn't want to read this, because it's quite long. BTW, this is all headcanon.
1. Kallen's 'love' for Lelouch is tricky to describe, as she did love him, but it's not the same love OT Kallen has for Lelouch, as Karma Kallen's love is both because he's the only one left AND because of prior feelings.
2. Deals like not using certain people in future missions and things like that. While Lelouch couldn't release people from his Geass, he could just choose to not use them if they were unnecessary. Also, Karma Lelouch making those deals with Kallen is partly because she's the only one left (who wasn't under Geass command. Not counting C.C because their relationship is different here.), and partly for another reason.
3. He did have some affection for her, but not it's not the same romantic affection you would have for a lover. They were doing 'that' quite a bit, and it was consensual. Remember how Lelouch was in R2 after finding out Nunally was becoming Viceroy of Area 11? Well, he entered the same depressive state after her death, then Kallen and him had that same meeting, except things went drastically differently. Since Karma Kallen did find out Zero's identity after Nunally's death, her world crumbled the same way it did at the end of R1, but she recovered after a month or so, then met Lelouch in that state, and instead of denying him, she accepted it due to him being the only one left, and wanting Zero back. So, yes, he did feel affection for her, but only because of the comfort he got after doing 'that' with her. This is the other reason why he kept her around.
4. It's more complicated than that, but yes. She did just want a personal victory over Suzaku. Also, through her numerous 'activities' with Lelouch, she did manage to piece together what Geass was, but in the end, she had a few pieces missing, like how many times he could use it per person. That's why she had a warped perception what Geass was, she thought breaking out of Geass was easy, since she saw Ohgi do it, but was instantly put back in after Lelouch gave another command (though, she didn't know about the slave command, she thought Lelouch was giving them new, individual commands each time.), which is where most of her hate for Suzaku stems from, she thought he was in control of his actions, and fully blames him for everyone's death. (she was also manipulated into believing everything was Suzaku's fault by Lelouch.)
Perhaps someday I'll write a fic based on the Karma timeline after this, but until then, this is how I'm interpreting Kallen and Lelouch's relationship there.
Chapter 34: Uner New Management
January 2nd. 8:00 AM
"We're home!" Nunally announced as Lelouch wheeled her into the Ashford Academy clubhouse.
"Welcome back," Sayoko greeted the group, "Mrs. Stadtfeld is currently in the kitchen cooking up something special for your return."
"Mom's here?" Kallen asked while carrying several bags filled with clothes.
"Of course she is." Nunally chimed in, "I asked Sayoko to hang out with her while we were gone, since I thought she'd be lonely."
"And I'm very grateful for that," Ms. Kozuki said while walking down the stairs, holding a plate of onigiri, "It's not much, but it's been a while since I've cooked, so I hope you like it."
Lelouch took one of the rice balls off the plate and handed it to his sister, who eagerly took a bite out of it, "Oh… this is great!"
"Is it really? I wasn't too confident with the ratios but-"
"Mom," the red head's voice cut through Ms. Kozuki's sentence effortlessly, "They're great."
Her mother looked down with a smile, "Thank you."
"Please allow me to take Ms. Nunally now," Sayoko told Lelouch while walking toward the Princess.
The Prince moved out of the way, and said, "Kallen and I are going to see Milly, so we'll probably be gone for most of the day."
"Oh yeah. Milly did say that, huh?" Nunally mentioned, "What do you think she wants anyway?"
"I don't know, maybe she just wants to plan another event for school." that was a lie, Lelouch knew precisely what the blonde wanted to talk about. He just couldn't tell his sister no matter what. "Anyway, we don't want to keep her waiting." he tugged on the red head's arm, "Let's go."
Kallen nodded in response and bid the other's goodbye.
Somewhere in the outskirts of Tokyo Settlement
"I'm so glad you two could make it!" Milly greeted the couple as they got out of their chauffeur, which the blonde personally hired to escort them here.
"What's this supposed to be?" Lelouch asked while staring at the large factory before them.
"C'mon Lelouch, I know you're smarter than that." the President outstretched her arms, as if showing off a grand design, "It's a Knightmare Production Facility."
"No… I mean, I can see the smoke, but why're you showing me this?" the Prince watched as a group of workers walked into the facility to clock-in, "Especially in the middle of the day, when everyone can see us."
"Don't worry about them, they aren't gonna snitch on us." Milly replied reassuringly while leading the couple inside, "Besides, don't you want to see how Knightmare frames are created?"
"Not particularly," Lelouch replied while putting on a face mask from a nearby dispenser, "I'd rather just use the machinery, than see how it's built."
"That just sounds like you're ignorant of the gifts you're being given." the blonde explained, "By the way, you don't have to worry about dust in here. We just have those masks lying around because of health code. But in reality, no one cares about a little dust."
"That's not why I'm wearing this." the Prince said as they entered the main factory floor, where several Sutherland's were currently in production. "Is this it?" he counted the number of Knightmare's currently being built, "You can only make seven at a time?"
"We have other parts of the facility! This is just one of them." Milly guided the duo through three more sectors, where even more Sutherland's were being built, "In total, we can churn out about 28 Knightmare's per three hours."
"Wow, that sounds impressive." Kallen commented as they entered an elevator.
"Well, the factories in Kyoto produce about double, so it's really not all that." Milly pressed the basement button on the elevator, "Of course, that 28 doesn't include the frames we create down here."
The elevators shutters closed, taking them further into the facility, "I'm guessing what you create down here is a part of our… special project?"
"Correct." the lift came to a stop, signaling for the group to exit once the shutters opened, "Currently, we have about six Burais in storage," Milly pointed at the mentioned frames as they passed by them, "They're really just modified Glasgow's that the JLF uses for most of their operations. These modifications allow them to compete with Sutherland's… for the most part."
Finally, the trio came across a group of special Knightmare frames that were dramatically different from the rest, one of which, Kallen instantly recognized, "That's the Guren… but it's missing its radiant wave surger."
"Like what you see?" Milly chimed in, "They call it the Guren type-01. It's an impressive 7th Generation Knightmare frame which hasn't been tested in real battle yet. Though… I'm sure we'll have it ready in about a week. Then you two can have some fun with it."
"You're giving us this Knightmare frame? What about Kyoto?"
"Actually, Kyoto wanted me to get in contact with Zero, and deliver these Knightmare frames personally," the blonde walked over to a table with blueprints detailing the other frames, "Of course, that's what I'm doing now." she hinted.
Lelouch nodded, "Thank you-"
"Kally!" Maya called from the top of the other Knightmare, "Do you like what you see?"
Kallen caught the black-haired girl as she jumped onto her, "What is this? I've never seen a Knightmare like this before…" she muttered while looking at the twin blue Knightmare's.
"Of course you haven't. These have just been built," Mario chimed in, "They're called the Sougetsu."
"A dual system Knightmare frame! The first of their kind!" Maya rudely interrupted her brother, "You see… while each frame can be piloted on their own, where they really shine is working together on the field to decimate the enemy. Which is why…" she wrapped her arm around her brother, "Both pilots have to have a deep understanding of each, meaning Mario and I are perfect for it!"
"That leaves the Guren in your hands, Kallen." Milly added, "Maya's told me about your skill on the battlefield, so we're going to have you pilot it. I hope you don't mind, Lelouch."
The Prince sighed, "I… I trust Kallen. After what she showed in Shinjuku, it's clear that she needs a Knightmare frame that'll match her skill." he released another deep breath, "That's why… she's the one who'll pilot it."
"Ooh, how mature of you!" the blonde began poking Lelouch's sides teasingly, "I never thought I'd see the day!"
"That's enough out of you." the raven-haired boy walked past his teasing friend and asked, "What about Naoto? What will he be piloting?"
"He'll use my Sutherland." Maya answered, "And don't worry, we took out all the complicated systems I was using from before, and put it into my Sougetsu." she pointed at the Sougetsu with purple accents.
"Actually, do you think you could leave some of those systems in his frame? Particularly the commander parts that allow him to keep maximum control over a squad or so?"
"Control? So what… you want a second-in-command on the field?"
"Correct."
Maya looked at her Sougetsu for a second, then said, "Yeah. I think we can do that."
"What are these things on the Burais arms?" Kallen pointed at openings in the machine's wrist, which held large grappling hooks.
"Oh yeah, how could I forget about that?" Maya grabbed a clipboard from a desk, "Rakshata, our main scientist, looked over the S-RES and said it was 'too shoddy, had a stupid name, and could use some drastic improvements'." the black-haired girl clenched her fist in anger, "I mean… how dare she! Who does she think she is!?"
"Calm down, Maya," Mario chimed in, "Anyway, she said it would be better to have hand-versions on the Knightmare's, specifically, the support ones, like Burais, Glasgow's, etc."
"Does that just make them like slash harkens?" Lelouch asked while looking over the design.
"You too!?" the black-haired girl shouted in disbelief, "I'll have you know, that while slash harkens are designed for climbing, rappelling, and anti-KMF combat. The S-RES, on the other hand, is specifically designed for pulling objects toward you, creating traps, and disabling KMFs."
"So… they're not interchangeable?"
"Of course not!"
The Prince sighed, "It says here that she's added a propulsion system to make sure the… S-RES goes further. How's that supposed to work?"
"It works off the slash harken system, except this one is put in the arm, allowing for an even greater burst of power! Sending the S-RES significantly further than a standard slash harken."
"So… will I ever get the chance to meet this… Rakshata?" Lelouch turned to Milly.
"Well… she said she wants to see how you use the technology she's given you. And, if she's satisfied, she'll schedule a meeting with you." the blonde turned on a nearby radio, which automatically went to a music station. Of course, she began changing it almost immediately.
"What're you doing?" Kallen asked.
"There's supposed to be announcing the new Viceroy of Area 11 today, so I thought we'd tune in to see who it is," after some fiddling, Milly found a station broadcasting the news.
"And now, the inauguration speech from our new Viceroy, Lila la Britannia." the radio man announced.
Lelouch's eyes widened with shock upon hearing her name, "What's she doing here!? Why would she ever become Viceroy… actually, why would father allow her to become Viceroy in the first place?"
Kallen saw the trouble on her boyfriends face, and held his hand, "It's okay. We don't have to listen if you don't want to." she whispered softly.
The Prince shook his head in response, "No… I want to… No, I need to hear this…"
Viceroy Palace of Area 11
"You got this, Lila!" the red haired Princess, Carine ne Britannia, cheered on.
Shakily, the little Princess walked on stage with several pieces of paper in hand. Using a box to stand on, she reached the podium and took in a deep breath. Placing her papers on the wooden slot, she began her speech, "Greetings-" the mic screeched just as she spoke, causing her assistant to adjust it for her, "I-I'm sorry about that. Greetings, citizens of Area 11. My name is Lila la Britannia, and I've been put to the task of becoming this Area's Viceroy. A-after my… my brother's…" she began sweating. Feeling like something was now caught in her throat, the little girl began hyperventilating, nonetheless, Carine gave her a thumbs up from the sideline, either she was oblivious to her little sister's discomfort, or she just didn't care. Regardless, Lila continued, "D…d… death, I intend to… to complete the job he… failed to accomplish."
"God, she's so naive. Do you really expect everyone to take you seriously if you stutter so much?" Carine laughed internally at her sister's distress, "How pathetic."
Somewhere in the Middle East
"That sick bastard!" Cornelia slammed her fist on the G1's command table, "How dare he have Lila become Viceroy!"
"My lady, please calm down," her knight, Guilford, pleaded.
"How can I calm down!? Lila's going to get torn apart in there!"
Of course, the reason why Cornelia took such offense to this action by her father wasn't just because Lila was one of her siblings. It's because she closely resembled Euphiemia in terms of ideals. So, for Cornelia to see someone like her thrown in Area 11 so haphazardly, she felt like she was watching her full-blood sister getting torn apart.
"There's nothing we can do." Darlton joined in, "Unless we wrap up our fight in the Middle East within the next few weeks, we've got our hands tied here." he looked at their map of the sandy hell and muttered, "But… there's no way we can do that. There's just too much area to cover."
Cornelia struck her table once again, "Damn it!"
"How much longer are you going to allow this madness to continue!?" Gabrielle yelled at Charles over the phone as he calmly watched Lila's inauguration in his room, "She's just a child, and yet you've got her taking Clovis' place as Viceroy, do you even care about her!?"
"Gabrielle, is that all you've called for? If so, I believe you're sorrily mistaken. I do care for every child who shows they're worthy to be called my own; for Lila, this is her test. She must prove that she can lead Area 11 to prosperity." the Emperor replied heartlessly while cutting into a steak.
"But she's just a child!"
"So? Schneizel could complete such tedious tasks when he was younger than her, so why should I believe she's incapable of doing otherwise?" Gabrielle gasped upon hearing those words, "If she does crumble, then so what? I have over 100 consorts, I can always have another kid."
The la Britannian woman clenched her fist in disbelief, "I knew it… I knew you were heartless… and yet… I didn't want to believe it… I wanted to believe you actually cared for Lila."
"Oh? But I do. That's why I sent Carine with her. Carine is a very capable daughter of mine, I have no doubt she'll set Lila on the right path."
"Carine hates Lila, and you know it!" Gabrielle snapped, "She's going to be eaten alive in Area 11… please… just take her out of there… I'll do anything."
Charles stayed silent for a second. Of course, he already knew his answer. No… that's not what he was thinking about, instead, his mind wandered to his brother V.V. You don't have anything to offer me. Lila will stay in Area 11 until she either crumbles, or I deem her presence there unnecessary."
Gabrielle's heart sunk as she heard those words. She slumped against a wall and muttered, "So… it's over… my daughter's going to die in Area 11…"
"Look at it this way. If she succeeds, you'll have more leverage to work with in the future."
"Leverage… is that all you care about?" Garbeille mumbled to herself in a defeated voice.
"I'll be hanging up now. I hope you don't call me in the future to discuss such frivolous matters." Charles hung up the phone with one click, before tuning back into the broadcast, "Lila, you'll have to forgive me, but this is the only way to keep you from my brother. I heard of his plans to take you to China, and have you experimented on by Eden Vital there. At least like this, you won't be able to become a mindless monster hell-bent on revenge." he took a sip of wine, allowing for the red liquid to flow, just like the blood he's spilled getting to this point, "That's why… you must evolve in this battlefield I've thrust you into. Evolve into someone who can't be used to fulfill my brother's ambitions. Either that, or get crushed under the weight of the world, that way, you won't become anyone's problem in the future."
Lila took in a deep breath, and remembered the words her brother said in that letter, "Be happy, as seeing you smile, makes me the happiest Big Brother in the world."
The little Princess kept those words close to her heart, as they were all she had left of her brother. That's why, no matter how much pain she goes through, no matter how much the world feels like it's crashing down on her, she would smile. Smile through the pain, because that's what Clovis would want. A grin appeared on Lila's face, as she continued, "That's why, as Viceroy, I promise to improve the lives of Britannian's and Eleven's alike. This is something my brother, Clovis, would've wanted."
"Who do you think you're fooling? Clovis didn't care about anyone but himself. Everyone knows it." Carine's eyes narrowed, "Though… this little proclamation of yours is a bit troublesome. Don't worry, I'm sure within a week, you'll see the horrors these Numbers provide, and you'll change your tune real quick. Then, a proper bloodbath will begin!"
"Does anyone have any questions?" Lila asked. The group of reporters below shouted, raising their hands, desperate to get their questions answered, "How about you?"
"Hi, yes. What do you plan on doing to the terrorists of Area 11? As you said in your speech, you plan to improve the lives of Eleven's and Britannian's alike, but where does that leave the terrorist?"
"Well… if they choose to work with us to improve their fellow citizens lives, then I'll happily pardon their past actions." the crowd roared in disbelief, "How about you?"
"What about the infamous Zero, who killed the previous Viceroy in cold blood, what do you have to say to him?"
"That's simple. I want him dead." her response only made the crowd cry out louder. "Don't get me wrong, while I do want to improve the lives of Eleven's, working with Zero won't do that."
"What?" Lelouch muttered in disbelief.
"In my eyes, this Zero only wants to generate chaos by killing members from the royal family. Ever since my brother's death, this Zero hasn't made any moves to kill the acting Viceroy, Jeremiah Gottwald. In fact, he hasn't even carried out any operations against Britannia in general. That means his vendetta doesn't lie with Britannia, but the royal family itself!" Lila's voice announced through the radio, followed by gasps of shock from the crowd.
Of course, Lila had no idea if any of this were true. After all, she was just trying to vilify Zero as much as possible, making it seem like he wasn't trying to fight for the Japanese people, that way, he'd lose support from the people, making it easier to catch him.
Lelouch clenched his fist, "At least Lila's heart is in the right place… but still… she shouldn't be solving these kinds of problems at her age. It's my fault that she's here."
The Prince felt his girlfriend's hand tighten around his, "It's not your fault, Lelouch." she whispered.
"But it is… it's my fault Lila's here. If I hadn't killed Clovis-"
"You had to. You and I both know that." the red head cut him off before he could finish his sentence, "If Clovis didn't die, then he'd have caused us more problems in the future. The best we can do now, is spare Lila from the same fate."
Lelouch looked at Kallen with puppy dog eyes, and asked, "You mean… we'll spare her?"
"Yes. She doesn't deserve to die for being forced into becoming Viceroy."
"How will we explain it to everyone else?"
"We'll figure it out. I'm sure Naoto will be happy to help."
The Prince gave her a genuine smile, "Thank you."
"So your qualms are with Zero?" Carine smiled as her sister began ending her speech, "Well, I'm sure I could use that information to my advantage…"
Lila exited the stage and asked, "How'd I do?"
"Fantastic!" her sister responded, "Don't worry, with us around, we'll be able to catch Zero in no time!"
"What about the Eleven's?"
"Oh yeah, we'll make their lives a lot better too," the red haired witch lied effortlessly, "Anyway, let's take a look at your new office, shall we?"
"Ah! Clovis has my Christmas present in there!" Lila exclaimed, "I wonder what it's going to be?"
The two quickened their pace while walking to Clovis' old office. Once inside, it didn't take long to find his present, as a large portrait of Lila wearing a white drop-waist dress. It was the polar opposite to the black one she had on now. In one of the corners, lied a pink envelope with a Santa sticker holding the flap down.
Lila eagerly opened it and began reading the contents, "Dear Lila, I know this isn't much, but I had mom give me a picture of what you looked like during your Elementary School graduations. While I couldn't quite capture your natural beauty, as much of a savant with a brush I am, I tried my very best. So, I hope you like it.
P.S That Apple Fritter you made on Thanksgiving was delicious, I hope you don't mind me asking for another one?"
Tears of joy streamed down the Princess' face as she read the letter, "Thank you, big brother. I'll cherish this forever."
Carine rolled her eyes at the sight and trailed her fingers across the Viceroy's desk, "Well, it looks like that Margrave knows how to clean at least. Though, he should probably stick to that, as being anything higher isn't his forte."
"That's pretty rude to Lord Jeremiah. From what I hear, he managed to make Area Eleven's economy boom to record rates!"
"Yeah… but that's not hard to do, considering the economy was already in the dumpster when he started. So, in reality, he could only go up from there."
"B-but it's still impressive!"
Despite hearing Lila's response, Carine effortlessly ignored her by placing an arm around her delicate shoulders, and said, "Now's not the time to focus on the past. We have to look toward the future." she took her younger sister out to the balcony, and showed off the settlement with her other arm, "You see this? It's all ours, and we're going to make it stand out among all the Area's, just like father wants!" she leaned into Lila's ear, and whispered, "You know he's testing us, right? That's why we can't fail here. If we manage to pull Area 11 out of the gutter, our parents will gain even more favor in court, meaning they'll love us more."
"But my mother said she loves me no matter what."
"Shh… your mother's a fool who thinks loving someone is enough." Carine held up one finger, "Firstly, you need power. Power will grant you all sorts of commodities," then a second popped up, "Secondly, money. Money can buy anything, remember that dear sister," finally, a third took a stand, "Thirdly, fame. What's the point of all that money and power if no one knows who you are? Together, we'll gain all three of those!"
Lila sighed, "Well… let's focus on helping the Eleven's first."
As her younger sister headed inside, Carine rolled her eyes and said, "Fine. Where do we begin?"
"First, I want you to send ambassadors to each resistance group. Upon contact, I want you to ask them to a meeting with me."
"A meeting? And what if they don't comply?"
"Then we'll put them on a… a…"
Carine noticed Lila having trouble, so she came in with an assist, "Extermination list?" those words practically jumped out of her mouth.
"Must you call it that?"
"That's what it is, so that's what I'll call it."
The little Princess sighed, "Okay… then that's what we'll do. You can do that… right?"
"No problem!" the red haired witch responded, "I'll have it done by Friday!" she dialed a number on her phone, "Dasko! I've got a job for you to do~"
1:00 PM
"I'm sorry… what?" Naoto questioned the words he was hearing.
"I want to capture Viceroy Lila." Lelouch was currently laid back first on the couch in the Clubhouse Living room.
"No… I heard that. But why? You're not planning on revealing your identity to her, right?"
"Of course not." Kallen sat on the Prince's lap, making him jolt slightly. Much to his annoyance, the red head kept a Stoic face while eating a spoonful of strawberry ice cream. Nevertheless, he continued, "I just… want to clear up some misconceptions she may have about me."
"You mean Zero?" Naoto opened a beer while folding one leg over the other on his chair, "Well… she seems to hate your guts, so I doubt that's going to work."
"I want to try sparing her."
The resistance leader let out a hearty laugh, "You're kidding, right?"
"So what? You want to kill her!? She's just a girl who was forced into-"
Kallen put her cold hand on Lelouch's cheek, causing him to freeze, "Calm down." she ordered.
Naoto sighed, "Okay. Listen, we don't know Lila's situation. Maybe she chose to come here, maybe she didn't. Whatever the case, it's irrelevant now. Because what matters are her intentions, and it seems like she genuinely wants to help. The only problem is that she has a big problem with you." he heard a group of Saitama Resistance members pass outside and lowered his voice, "Of course, there are certain issues that come with her help. For one, the nobles of Area 11 aren't going to like their Viceroy fighting for equality around here. Then there are the resistance groups. I don't know about anywhere else, but here in Saitama, these stubborn bastards are talking about assassinating her, like idiots."
"They must think she's easy prey considering her age," Kallen commented while polishing off her bowl, placing it on the table.
"Nevertheless, if you want these guy's cooperation in the future, you'll have to look elsewhere." Naoto placed the beer on his table with a cloth coaster, "I tried talking to their leader, before being rudely kicked out for being a 'naive idiot with pacifist ideas'."
Lelouch groaned with frustration, "Is there no way we can change their minds?"
"Well… Japanese are pretty hard-headed at times," as Naoto said those words, Kallen smirked as if he was talking about her, "So unless you use that Geass of yours, their cooperation won't happen anytime soon."
"And you won't be doing that, right?" Kallen pulled her boyfriends cheeks.
"Don't worry, I won't be using my Geass maliciously like that."
"Good." the resistance leader took a sip of his drink, "I'll be hanging up now, Tamaki and Ohgi's coming over soon, so if you need something, don't call me for the next few hours."
With that, Lelouch hung up the phone with a sigh, "Great. It seems just being Zero isn't enough to win over the masses."
Kallen laid across her boyfriends body stomach-first, and said, "Well, we haven't done much other than killing Clovis. That just means we'll have to show them that Zero fights for justice."
"But when will that happen?" he whispered into her ear as she nuzzled into his neck comfortably.
"I'm sure there'll be dozens of nobles trying to take advantage of the system while the new Viceroy's around. Hell, I bet they'll be real lazy in doing so too, as they're thinking it'll be easy to get away with given Lila's inexperience."
"By the way… what are you doing?" Lelouch finally acknowledged the position they were in, as he could hardly move.
"You looked like you needed a hug." Kallen responded, "After hearing Lila's speech, I realized how shaken you were, so I thought I'd comfort you." a devious smile crept onto her face, "Is that a problem?"
"N-not at all." attempting to one-up her, the Prince wrapped his arms around the red head, pulling them closer together.
"Oh wow, you're quite bold." his girlfriend responded while hiding her blush within his neck.
"You can't say that while blushing." of course, Lelouch noticed it.
"Sh-shut up." Kallen lightly tapped her boyfriend's forehead and said, "We're taking a nap now. Whether you like it or not."
"I have a feeling that this isn't just about Lila's speech…" the Prince accepted their positions for now, and slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Dasko, hurry in here." Carine ordered her hulking knight as he settled into a chair.
"What is it that you need, my lady?" he asked in a deep voice.
"I need you to send some disposable trash out to meet with some resistances groups." she pulled out a clipboard with several sheets of paper, "The Margrave gave me a list of known resistance groups around the Tokyo area. I want you to start there."
"And once I make contact with these groups, what would you have me do?"
"If they're hostile, put them on a kill list. If not, then put them on a list that we'll send to my sister. Apparently, she wants to make peace with these barbarians."
"You're actually going to do as she says? How uncharacteristic of you."
Carine laughed, "It's not like I have to, after all, I'm those filthy Number's will do it for me. Lila will see just how disgusting these Elevens are, and then we'll be free to slaughter as many as we want!"
The Knight looked over the list and said, "By the way, we've received a squadron of heavy bombers from the homeland. They'll aid us in flushing out stubborn resistance groups with ease."
"Ooh! I've always wanted to see one of those in action! I hope we can take them out for a test drive soon."
"Likewise, my lady."
3:00PM
Kallen slowly opened her eyes upon hearing Lelouch's phone ring on the table, so she instinctively reached to answer it, "Hello?" she asked in a groggy voice as the Prince's hold tightened.
"Ah, Ms. Stadtfeld. Is Master Lelouch there?" it was Jeremiah.
"He's asleep right now. Do you need something?"
"Oh, my apologies, I didn't mean to disturb you two."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kallen shook her head, "No, it's fine. What'd you want to say?"
"Well, tell Master Lelouch that Carine ne Britannia is currently sending ambassadors to numerous resistance group."
"Carine? I've never heard that name before…" the red head looked at her boyfriend's peaceful face, "Is there anything else?"
"Yes. Under no circumstance must you attack the ambassador. They're currently issuing kill orders for the groups that don't comply." Kallen's eyes widened upon hearing 'kill order', "Make sure Lelouch hears of this, please. I have to go now, I wish you a good day."
With that, the Margrave hung up the phone, "Lelouch, wake up." the red head shook her boyfriend several times, "Wake up." he wasn't waking up, instead his hold tightened around her, making it almost suffocating, "God dammit. Of all the times you had to have a deep sleep, why now?" she muttered while scrolling through his recent contacts, "Why isn't Naoto here?" that's when she realized, "Really? Jake Mendez? That sounds way too suspicious."
Despite the odd name, she dialed the number, and sure enough, he didn't pick up. "If you need something, don't call me in the next few hours." those words rang throughout the red head's mind three times, each louder than the last.
"Fuck." she cursed while looking at her boyfriends peaceful face, "I can wait a while, can't I? There's no way they'll be visiting Saitama ghetto today anyway. It's just too far away. Besides, Lelouch needs the rest." slowly, she began to drift off to sleep, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly, but not too tight as to suffocate him, "I can't reach my phone in this position, so I might as well enjoy this moment while I can."
5:00PM
"Cheers!" Tamaki, Ohgi, and Naoto touched beer bottles before taking a sip, "Man, these chairs suck!"
"Don't talk shit about something you don't have!" Naoto snapped at his friends.
"Hey man, you should at least buy some new chairs with the cash we got out of our stalls at the festival!" Tamaki responded while chugging his beer.
"You're kidding, right? I'm using that money for the resistance group. I don't know if you've noticed, but we're without a base, so I need to find one."
"Then why don't we just shack up with the Saitama folks? Their set-up is almost identical to ours, minus the Knightmare's." Ohgi chimed in.
"They don't share the same beliefs as us. In their eyes, the only good Britannian is a dead one. And quite frankly, I can't stand by that."
"Whatever you say, fearless leader," Tamaki turned on the TV and said, "Oh! They've got baseball!"
"I didn't know you kept up with sports like that."
"I don't. But watching this is certainly more interesting than talking about the resistance. We're supposed to be celebrating our haul here, and yet you still somehow managed to bring up the resistance." the Japanese man laid stomach-first on the ground and began kicking his feet in the air like a schoolgirl.
Ohgi sighed while leaning into one of Naoto's chairs, "God, these chairs feel even worse than before."
"If ya don't like it, then don't sit in 'em!" the owner shouted.
"I don't want to join Tamaki on the ground, kicking my feet up like a schoolgirl."
"Why not? It's pretty fun." the man in question responded.
"Who do you think you are?" a Saitama resistance member asked rudely.
"Like I said before, I'm a Britannian ambassador sent to inform you that-"
Just as the Britannian was about to finish his sentence, another resistance member came out and shouted, "We don't need Britannia, you hear!? We're doing just fine without you!" the man pointed a gun at the ambassador, "I'll give you to the count of five, then I'm killing you!"
Tamaki, Ohgi, and Naoto kicked their feet up like schoolgirls while laying on the ground, each reaching into a large bucket of popcorn while watching the game, "You're right. This is pretty comfortable." the resistance leader said as he chewed a mouth-full of the buttery confection.
"Of course I'm right! I'm the Tamaki, after all!"
"Now I regret giving you that compliment."
"Speaking of which…" Tamaki lowered his voice while asking, "What're you going to do about that guy?"
"What guy?" Naoto feigned ignorance.
"You know who I'm talking about," the Japanese man nudged his friend's arm, "The guy who has the hots for your sister."
This caught Ohgi's attention, "God, what are we, actual schoolgirls!?" the resistance leader shouted. "Who my sister dates is none of my concern!"
"I'm just asking. Because you are planning on apologizing to her, right?"
"Why the hell should I!?"
"Because she's clearly into him, I mean, they were practically glued together! And yet, big bad Naoto comes along and decides to bully him for not catching a goldfish."
"I don't like this smart streak of yours, Tamaki." Naoto responded while cracking his fist.
"You can beat me all you like, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm right!"
"Since when did you actually grow a brain!?"
"Dude, I'm called the love-master for a reason."
The resistance leader put his friend in a choke-hold and said, "Don't ever refer to yourself as the 'love-master', while talking about my sister beforehand!"
"Naoto, it sounds like you're projecting." Ohgi commented calmly.
"What does that mean?" the man released Tamaki from the hold and faced his other friend.
"Well… from what I see, you're worried about this boy stealing away your sister, whom you've been used to following you everywhere. But look at the bright side, if your sister becomes infatuated with this man, then she might actually quit the resistance all-together, meaning she'll be safe."
"Oh, if only you knew." Naoto rolled his eyes, "It's not like that. Sure, maybe I was a bit rude while at the goldfish stand, but I was only trying to have a bit of fun!" his eyes narrowed, "Especially with how big of a head Lelouch has gotten, I thought it'd be nice to see him put down a peg."
A gunshot rang out in the distance, but the men paid it no mind, "Listen, from what I understand, this is Kallen's first crush, and while you might see the negative in this man, you should still support their relationship. Because that's what your sister expects of her big brother. You're probably the only opinion she really cares about at the end of the day."
"I do support their relationship!" Naoto blurted out, "It's just… it's really complicated…" another gun shot went off, "You see… with how our resistance is going, we'll be facing off against more and more Britannian foot soldiers, and while it's highly unlikely-"
"You think he's going to be drafted if we become too big of a problem?" Ohgi asked, "You're right… if that happens, Kallen might not recover from it. Knowing the man she's in a relationship with was killed in the conflict her brother started… that would be traumatizing."
A third gunshot went off, this time, drawing Naoto's annoyance, causing him to open a window and shout, "Can you keep it down out there!? We're having a serious conversation over here!" he closed the opening without getting a response, "Anyway. Now you see why I'm worried?"
Obviously, the scenario that they made up was not even close to the real thing, but for Naoto, this was the only way he could remotely get his point across.
"Even so… your sister should still get a chance at teenage love. After all, she's only got two years of high school left, right?"
"You're a bit off with the numbers, but yeah, just about."
"Then let her be a normal girl."
Naoto facepalmed internally, "They really just don't get it. But I can't tell them the full picture…"
Suddenly, seven gun shots went off right outside of Naoto's apartment, causing him to shout, "Oh, now you're just doing this on purpose!" he opened his window and looked below, seeing three Saitama resistance members gathered around a dead body wearing a suit.
"You really got him! That damn brit didn't know what hit him!"
"Hell yeah, I did! Relay this message back to your masters!" another resistance member shouted while kicking the body.
"That doesn't look good." Naoto narrowed his eyes at the sight, "I just know that there's going to be some serious repercussions for this. Better call Lelouch as soon as possible."
AN: In the game Lila's apart of, she's taken by V.V to the Geass order in the chinese federation. Here, due to his increased movemnt, Charles notices his brother trying to isolate Lila, and prevents her from being used against him in the future by making her Viceroy. This is also a way to test her capabilities with the new resolve she's gotten from Clovis' death.
Also, I don't know much about Carine's character, so I'm just sticking with the knowledge that she loves violence and war from the wiki.
