"The Hokage? As in THE Hokage?!" Naruto asked incredulously. Sakura nodded happily. "Don't joke like that Sakura. Being Hokage is my dream, not yours. I'm the one who's going to become Hokage," the blonde in an all-knowing manner. You don't stand a chance, hung in the air around them. "I'm serious you baka! My dream is to become Hokage and I'm sure as hell that I'll become one, shannaro," the pinkette replied with a glare. Naruto burst into laughter. Everyone was quiet except the laughing blonde. He wiped away the tears which had leaked. "Nice prank Sakura, nice one," he said with a grin. "But as I said, I'm the one who's going to become Hokage," he said seriously. Not you.
As if sensing the incoming argument, Kakashi decided to intervene. "Now now, we don't want to start a fight," he said with a pointed stare at the now murderous pinkette. "Naruto, everyone can become Hokage. It's doesn't matter whether you come from a civilian family or whatnot," he explained to the now solemn genin. He turned back to Sakura. "Becoming Hokage isn't an easy feat. You have to be able to protect the entire village, sometimes on your own. The entire village will become your family, each and everyone of them. You have to cater for each and every one of their needs. Are you sure you can handle that?" he asked curiously. "I know and I can handle it," she ground out.
'I swear I'm gonna punch his stupid face one day, shannaro!'
'You talking about Kakashi-sensei or Naruto?'
'Both of them! They don't believe us when we say we'll become Hokage, as if we're too weak to do so!' Inner seethed as she continued to punch the living daylights out of an imaginary Kakashi and Naruto.
'Well, we do come from a civilian merchant clan so I don't blame them,' she replied in a matter of fact tone.
'Are you siding with them?!'
'Heck no! I was just stating facts,' she replied truthfully as she continued to walk towards the library. 'It's not everyone who sees an ass-kicking Hokage when they see a pink-haired child of nobodies with freakishly green eyes and an overly sized forehead,' the pinkette replied to her countertpart.
Her first Team Seven meeting had been rather uneventful. Well, if you exclude the part where every male member doubted that she could actually become Hokage. Naruto had been more vocal about it, clearly telling the girl paws off the Hokage seat. Kakashi-sensei's questions spoke much about it. And even though Sasuke wasn't vocal about it, she could clearly tell he was laughing his head off at her statement. How in the world would she ever become Hokage? At first she had doubted it herself but after reading briefly on the previous Hokages, she believed she could become one. The Yondaime Hokage wasn't much different from her, just a clan name with no special techniques attached like the Hyuuga or Uchiha but he had worked his way to the top. And she was sure as hell that she was going to do the same.
The silver-haired ninja had told them of their survival exam tomorrow. They were not to eat and had to be on time. If they failed the exam then they would go back to the Academy. None of them wanted to go back there. As soon as he had said that, he had disappeared in a gush of wind. She had asked Sasuke whether or not he wanted to go on a date with her. He had flat out refused. She was going to ask him to train with her later on, she had thought dejectedly. When she turned to Naruto, he had asked her for a date to Ichiraku Ramen, she had also flat out refused. She never liked those noodles as if it were her lifeblood. Seeing that she had no one to train with as of yet, she turned to go to the library. She wanted to get as much information on the Yondaime Hokage as possible. He was her role model.
She greeted the librarian, Harumi-san, the pretty brown-haired middle aged woman with a figure to die for. She secretly envied the curvaceous woman but put it at the back of her mind. She still had a dream to achieve, beauty would come later. She went to the Chunin section, she had been given a free pass since she was the one who visited the library the most. Searching for the Hokage section, she found the book she was looking for. "The Yondaime Hokage: Konoha's Yellow Flash," she whispered to herself as she hugged the book to her chest. Had she been alive during his time, she was definitely sure to be his number one fan, that was if his wife wasn't hunting for her hide. She had heard the women at the bathhouse whisper tales of the Red Hot Habanero who didn't tolerate a fangirl within a metre radius from her husband.
She went to her favorite spot, at the back of the library in a corner desk. And thus she began to pour over the Yondaime's life story.
She finished reading the book late into the night. She had spent a greater part of her time reading on the Yondaime Hokage and the last few hours on World Politics. By the time she got out of the library holding half a dozen or so scrolls, there were very few pedestrians walking, if you didn't count the shinobi jumping on the rooftops. She thought about what she had read on the Yondaime. He had modified the Hiraishin originally created by the Nidaime Hokage, making him one of the fastest men to have ever lived. He had learned enough fuinjutsu to be able to split the Kyuubi into two, sealing one part of it into him and the other into an unknown human child and thus saved Konoha from total obliteration. She was going to have to learn a lot about fuinjutsu but who could she ask? The Yondaime had been dead for over twelve years, the Uzumaki had been wiped out more years before and she knew no one who had experience in fuinjutsu. The Yondaime must've taught someone his signature move. He had had to. But who? If she could find someone who knew the seals perhaps she could study them and start from there. She couldn't sit around waiting for some miracle to happen.
Well, that miracle had happened when she spotted a wild mane of white hair sticking over the wall of the onsen she was just passing by. Putting the scrolls in her satchel, she made her way towards the pervert. She had prepared to give him the speech of a lifetime, chastising him properly and thoroughly on why he shouldn't be peeping publicly at an onsen when she noticed that he was none other than-"Jiraiya-sama!" she exclaimed out loud. The said man had quickly turned his attention to the girl, reprimanding her immediately for disturbing his concentration when his eyes landed on her small figure. "Oi, you little gaki! Quiet down, you'll make me get caught!" he sneered as he turned his binoculars back to the very educating display he was watching, adjusting his position from the crate he was standing on. "If you don't get down you old hermit, I'll report you to the Hokage!" she had replied with a meaner sneer of her own. "Go ahead, it's not like he's not an old hermit either," he grumbled, giggling as one of the women spun revealing her curved bottom.
"Jiraiya-sama, please hear me out," she said as she stepped closer to him. "I need help with fuinjutsu and I know you're just the person for it because you're the former master of the Yondaime Hokage," she pleaded. The white-haired Sannin turned to look at her with his eyebrow raised. "How do you know that?" he questioned her. "The library," she replied flatly. "Why should I help you? You could be a disguised enemy ninja or a spy or just not that important," he replied. "Well good for you because I'm not an enemy ninja or spy. I'm just not that important," she retorted. "Yet," she added as an afterthought. "What's your name?" he asked as he turned his attention back to the bathhouse. "Sakura Haruno of Team Seven, genin under Kakashi Hatake," she replied. "You're one of Kakashi's brats then," he pointed out. She nodded.
"And you're from a civilian merchant clan," he added. "How'd you know?" she asked genuinely curious. No one knew of the Haruno clan except the civilians. Ninjas knew they barely existed. "I knew one Kizashi Haruno who was in the same year as Minato. He came from a civilian merchant clan. Don't know what happened to him though," he said as his binoculars zoomed closer to a particular curvaceous blonde teenager. "He's alive and he's my father," she replied with a hint of pride. He turned to face her fully. "Well, if that's the case then I can't help you," he said seriously. She gaped outwardly. "But why?" she almost whined. "Simple, all Harunos I've ever encountered didn't go anywhere beyond genins. They couldn't use ninjutsu mainly because of lack of chakra control and almost non-existent chakra reserves," he told her plainly. "But the only Haruno you knew was my father," she pointed out. "Exactly. Basing on the performance of your father, you might die trying to accomplish something which will never happen. Sorry kid," he said he turned to leave, pushing her crestfallen expression at the back of his mind. He had a meeting with the old man before he left for another mission. He had taken a few steps when she finally spoke.
"I want to become Hokage," she said. He stopped.
"What'd you say?"
"I said I want to become Hokage," she repeated in a steel tone.
"You do know that becoming Hokage is-"
"Oh just cut the crap! I know what it means to become Hokage!" she shouted angrily. She closed her eyes momentarily to calm herself and opened them to see the man facing her, holding out a scroll. She looked at the scroll then at him questioningly. "You want me to take it back?" he said boredly as he noticed her questioning stance. She immediately grabbed the scroll from his hand. "It has the basics on fuinjutsu. Read it and you might be able to come up with something," he said as he spun around and began walking towards the Hokage Tower. He heard a shout of "Thank you very much Jiraiya-sama!" when he had travelled a fair distance away from her. He smirked under his breath.
The genin had arrived to find her parents preparing for bed. She had greeted them with quick hugs and rushed to the kitchen to grab dinner. She hadn't had a meal since breakfast. After taking her meal, she went to her room. The pinkette did fifty pushups, a hundred situps and another fifty squats before taking a bath and getting into her blankets, just as she had been doing for the past two years. She took out her diary she kept under her pillow. She looked at the list of things to do.
1. Learn fuinjutsu.
2. Expand chakra reserves.
3. Increase stamina, speed and endurance.
4. Discover chakra nature, practice it. Also have an arsenal of defensive and offensive justu for all chakra natures.
5. Practice genjutsu.
6. Test chakra control.
6. Study politics of Konoha and the other villages.
7. Study the workings of shinobi ranks.
8. Study on all clans in Konoha and their traditions. Become acquainted with their fighting styles.
9. Practice kenjutsu, shurikenjutsu and taijustu.
That wasn't the whole list, she still had many more to add. And it was easier said than done. She had to find teachers, she couldn't train herself. She was sure to find one. As of now, she would see how Kakashi would train her then decide to other teachers. She yawned out loud as she glanced at her clock. It read 2347. She still had some time to kill. She took out the scroll Jiraiya had given her and began reading it.
She dozed off around 2am later that night.
Hello hello! How are you guys? Did y'all think I forgot about this story? Nah, ain't happening. I'm actually surprised that there people following and favouring this story. The first three reviews were very unwelcoming. Now, as for those reviews, I won't be an idiot like those guys and insult them and all so I'll remain quiet. I only have a few words to say: If you're not happy with this story then please don't read it. I'm not forcing anyone. I seriously can't do with the negativity, honestly. So if you feel like this story is annoying you or grating on your nerves then don't bother reading. I won't hold anything against you. I just don't want your negativity, insulting Sakura and all. She's my favourite female Naruto character. And yes, Sakura can become Hokage. I believe that. If you watch the anime closely and pay attention to other characters' comments on her skills, you'll notice how people see that she can become Hokage.
I'm trying to keep this story close to canon as possible but still maintaining my storyline. Jiraiya enters the anime later on. In this chapter, he was just passing by and Sakura just so happened to stumble upon him, that's all. Then the Yondaime Hokage, I think he came from a civilian clan and worked his way to become Hokage so I made him Sakura's role model because of their similar backgrounds. Positive criticism is welcomed. For any grammatical errors, sorry.
Keep on reviewing. I enjoying reading your views. Thank you for reading this story.
