Sakura Haruno was by nature, a bookworm. It was in her blood, her DNA. As soon as Nezu-ojiisan had told her that she would be enrolling at U.A, she had read all the books she could find about the school and heroes in general. She knew the laws pertaining using one's Quirk like the back of her hand. She knew all rankings of the heroes, she knew all there was to know about them. Though her current classmates didn't know, she was probably even worse than Izuku.

And so when she saw Gang Orca posing as the villain of the last part of their exam, she couldn't help the grin that spread on her face. At least, she could go all out without potentially killing him. A quick scan of the area told her that most of the examinees were busy with rescue operations and only Shoto, Inasa and Yo were engaging with the hero. Well, that worked in her favour. She also noticed that there were goons with cement guns which acted as sidekicks for the Killer Whale.

Sakura enjoyed making a dramatic entry, it was one of Naruto's traits that had somehow rubbed off her. Even Sasuke and Kakashi preferred dramatic entrances, given by how the last Uchiha and Copy Nin arrived at the Chunin Exams. The half-human-half-fox ran towards the battle and propelled herself up with a chakra-powered boost.

"Shannaro!"

Her fist connected with the ground, causing it to cave inwards as it swallowed anyone who remained standing. She hadn't taken into consideration the victims that were nearby and so when she heard their panicked cries, she knew that she had lost some points. Sakura watched as most if not all of the goons had been defeated as they lay scattered on the ground unconscious. "Hey! You weren't supposed to do that! Look at all the damage you caused!" Yo shouted hotly. Sakura gave him a sheepish smile as she scratched the back of her neck. "Sorry," she apologized. However, the moment was soon forgotten as Gang Orca was charging towards her at an impressive speed.

Sakura met him midway and two exchanged punches and kicks. The foxhead threw a fist at the Killer Whale with the hero retaliating by using his forearm to block. It proved to be a fatal mistake as he was pushed backwards and sent flying into the wall. Sakura smirked as she watched Gang Orca rise without difficulty. She would've been ashamed on his behalf if such as measly blow was enough to take him out.

The next move came from Shoto who shot his flames at the hero whilst Inasa sent a blast of wind at the same time. 'That isn't going to work out,' she thought as the two elements cancelled each other out. "I told you already. Go back to rescuing, I can handle him myself," Shoto shouted with barely constrained anger. "Pft, as if. And leave you to bask in the glory all for yourself," the wind user replied haughtily. Sakura immediately saw herself and Ino during the third part of the Chunin Exams. It was more of a verbal fight between the two girls but when Ino had taunted her into unleashing the Kyuubi, it was another story. Lord Third had worked to restrain the savage beast. It was there and then decided that she was banned from the Chunin Exams for the next three years. She had thought it was unfair as they didn't do the same to Gaara who had destroyed her village only to be made Kazekage the following year whilst she was stuck travelling with Jiraiya in between her training with Tsunade. Talk about hypocrites.

She blinked her eyes in wonder. She had remembered something! 'Stupid fox?' she said questioningly. Later! Watch out for that- Sakura felt the air leave her lungs as she sailed over to a broken building, feeling as if Nejire had hit her with one of her sonic blasts. She crashed into the ground as her head spun dizzily. 'Oww,' she thought as she pressed a glowing hand to her temple. I told you- 'Yeah, right. Thanks for the heads-up,' she said sarcastically as she stood up.

The medic watched as Inasa was hit by one of Gang Orca's hypersonic blasts and rocketed up into the sky. Sakura cursed the lessons she had with Iruka growing up as she ran towards the figure which was descending to the ground at an alarming speed. She had been taught to help others, even if they were strangers or enemies. As long as you were fighting on the same side, you were an ally. And she was sure as hell that she wasn't going to let Inasa take a fall from that height.

She caught him swiftly and flash stepped to the rescue tents. "Are you okay?" she asked as she laid him gently on the ground. Activating her medical ninjutsu, she searched for any internal injuries apart from the ones her eyes had assessed. "Mild concussion it seems," she murmured as she placed her hands on his temples and began healing him. She ignored his pensive gaze as she worked on bringing his head back to its original health. She didn't take long as she had finished his healing his head. His chakra pathways was responsive to her chakra and she didn't have any trouble. She sent him a nod before flickering back to the battlefield, leaving behind an amazed Inasa who was holding his head.

Izuku thought that Shoto was smart but it clearly seemed that it was quite the opposite. He was sentimental, and sentimentally stupid. Sakura arrived beside him as he watched Shoto try to take on Gang Orca by himself only to receive a hypersonic blast head on. "That must've hurt," she commented with a wince. The One for All user watched her curiously out of the corner of his eye whilst she was occupied with Gang Orca scolding Shoto and Inasa who had arrived back at the battlefield. "I hear they have bad blood because of Endeavor. They could've talked it out after the battle. It could get them killed in the future," she spoke.

Izuku noted how her black biker shorts were ripped near the waist, revealing creamy skin covered in dirt. He mentally berated himself for being such a pervert. "Should we take him out by ourselves?" he asked as Shoto and Inasa tried to attack Gang Orca separately only to fail. "No, let them work it out. If words won't make them understand then fists will," she remarked as she stared at the trio who were once again speaking. Her eyes were green, he noticed, meaning she was in a good mood. Wasn't she feeling the dread of failing the exam? Her entrance probably deducted a lot of points for her as she had unintentionally endangered the victims.

Several goons which had somehow managed to escape the impact of Sakura's fist had begun making their way to the rescue site. Izuku didn't waste any time to rush to intercept them however Yo beat him to it as he used his Vibrate Quirk to cause the already damaged ground beneath the goons to disintegrate. "You can still use your Quirk after receiving a hypersonic blast head on?" he asked as he stared at the other boy in wonder. "Yeah, I have resistance of sorts, though I'm still numb," Yo replied with a grin. Izuku sent him a good natured smile as he turned back to the battle only to see Shoto and Inasa combining their quirks to capture Gang Orca in a flame prison. "That's more like it," he cheered. He caught Sakura's eye and she gave him a knowing look.

Izuku brimmed with pride as Mina and Fumikage took to defeating the goons which had been heading towards the evacuation centre. Other examinees began to join too in fighting against the goons.

Deciding that it was time to finish this battle, he rushed towards the hero using his One for All: Full Cowling move. Just as Gang Orca used a hypersonic blast to get out of the flames, Izuku sent a kick which was blocked using his forearm at the same time Sakura threw a fist which was caught. However, the impact of the two attacks caused the hero to reel backwards. He flipped in the air and landed nimbly on the ground. Sakura cocked her fist and poised herself to attack when Mera's voice rang through the arena speakers.

"All members of HUC have been rescued which concludes the final part of the exam."

Izuku caught Sakura's eye roll as she complained about just getting started.

"After the scores are tallied, I will present the results of the Provisional Hero License Exam to you. Those who have suffered injuries are to direct themselves to the medical office and those who aren't are to change back into their normal clothes and await for further instructions," he informed.

Izuku released a sigh of relief he hadn't realized he had been holding.

It was the first time that Sakura wore her U.A uniform. She wore knee length tights on top her green skirt and blazer. She couldn't help but blush as she looked at herself in the mirror. Apart from the fox head, she looked pretty good. She stood beside Mina as they gathered in front of a big screen.

"First of all, you have my thanks for your hard work in participating in this exam," Yokumiru spoke. He waited for a moment before continuing."The HUC members and my fellow colleagues from Headquarters have examined both the quality and nature of your conduct in situations of crisis," he explained. "The names of those who passed will be displayed on the screen behind me in alphabetical order," he finished. Mina held Sakura's hand in anticipation as the screen showed the examinees who had passed.

Sakura's eyes immediately went to the H section looking for her suname but finding none. She blinked her eyes and went over the entire list repeatedly. Eighty nine examinees had passed and she wasn't one of them. Tears threatened to fall as the reality of her situation set in. If she didn't get her Provisional Heroes License then that meant she had been delayed drastically in her career as an aspiring hero. She had promised Ren-senpai that she would pass so that she could use her healing quirk more freely. She felt shame course through her form. How was she going to face Ren-senpai now? How was she going to face Nezu-ojiisan after everything he had done for her?

She felt Mina's hand squeeze hers gently. The pink girl was looking at her with a comforting expression. She gave her a teary smile in return.

It turned that she wasn't the only one who failed. Of all the students in Class 1A, Shoto, Katsuki and herself had failed. Inasa also failed. Sakura watched as Izuku celebrated his license with Ochaco. The two of them looked cute together, she thought as she watched Ochaco cheer the green-eyed boy with the same vigor. She had hoped to join them but she was too disappointed in herself to do so.

She walked over to Shoto who was looking thoughtfully at the ground. "Guess I'm not the only failure," she joked but failed miserably. "Can't say I'm not disappointed in myself for failing. I don't know how I'm going to face Ren-senpai or Nezu-ojiisan," she spoke as her fox ears drooped. Mismatched eyes stared at her in thoughtfulness. "There are some things that I have learned in this exam. My hatred for my father blinded me such that I became the very person I despised. I have been relying too much on my past that I can't move forward. But I've learned to let go of my past in order to succeed in my future," he said as he looked at his clenched fist. "But," he said he stared at her in the eye. "Most importantly, I learnt that it's not bad to have friends, to have allies. I don't need a reason to befriend someone, it happens naturally and you taught me that." Sakura's heart skipped a beat a the small smile he sent her. "W-Well, I'm glad that I could be of help," she said as her ears twitched in embarrassment. Perhaps it was the because it was late in the afternoon with different shades of red and orange coloring the sky or that she was sentimental but Sakura felt as if they had moved a step further in their friendship. It was a precious moment she wanted to keep going on forever.

Before she could go further, Inasa arrived. Sakura watched in wonder as he bowed his head to the ground before them. "I'd like to apologize yet again for making you fail the exams," he spoke to Shoto. "I told you already. It's not your fault. It was a learning experience for me. I can retake the exams in April," the icy-hot boy replied. Inasa stood up and looked at Sakura. "Thank you Ms. Sakura for healing me during the final battle. I didn't even need to go and get medical assistance. You healed everything in such a short time, not to mention we started off on the wrong foot and for that you have my sincerest apologies," he told seriously. "It's always a pleasure to meet new people and get along with each other," she said, ears twitching happily as she grinned.

"If you don't mind," he said as he looked away bashfully, a small blush on his cheeks. The taller boy seemed to rethink as he rounded on her fully and stared at her with determination. "I'd like to get to know you more outside of school Ms. Sakura. Please consider my offer," he spoke firmly. Sakura was taken aback. If she had a human, her face would probably be as red as her shirt. Ever since coming to Musutufu, no one had ever dared to ask her out until she believed that she was unattractive.

"Y-Yeah, I'll consider it Yoarashi," she replied as she fought to calm her nerves. She hoped that her voice wouldn't drastically. 'Don't embarrass me today,' she silently pleaded to the fox. She heard it hum in agreement. "Please, call me Inasa," he said. "Then call me Sakura," she replied with a smile. With a bow, Inasa left the two U.A classmates.

Sakura turned to Shoto to ask him about his next plans but was surprised to see a foreign expression on his face as he stared at Inasa's retreating form. "Hey, you okay? You look you're about to murder someone," she spoke as she waved her hand in front of his face. Shoto gave her a side glance before turning back to watching Inasa.

"Maybe I am."

Writing the Provisional Heroes License Exams was difficult for me especially considering that I didn't watch the anime or read the manga. I hope I managed to capture it right. I'll be diverting from canon to fit into my storyline from now. Don't forget to leave a review. Thank you so much for supporting this story.
