Edward

"Edward?" A small whisper tries to stir me away from my heavy slumber. "Edward, wake up." I feel a small nail poke my shoulder. "Edward, please wake up!"

I groan, burying my head on the pillow.

"What is it, Bella?" I say against the pillow.

"I can't sleep," she says and I can hear the pout she's making.

I wrap my arms around my pillow, pulling it closer and say, "Uh... There's some tea left in the kitchen… just heat it up."

"No, I don't want tea," she whispers. There's a small pause and in that pause I find myself slipping back into my pleasant slumber. "Edward!" She slaps my back.

"What!"

"You're sleeping!"

"That's what normal people do, Bella. They sleep at-" I reach for my phone on the nightstand and check the time. "At three in the morning."

"Ohhh..." She whines and leans down, pressing her chin to my shoulder. "Please don't hate me."

"What?"

"I just can't stop thinking about tamales. And donuts."

Is she fucking kidding me?

I roll over and look at her.

"Bella, it's three in the morning and in all honesty where do you think we're going to find a place that sells tamales and donuts?"

Bella pouts and looks down at her belly. "I don't know. But I'm really hungry and I want tamales and donuts. And for the love of God, Edward Cullen, if you don't get me those things this baby will come out with a face in the shape of a tamale with a donut hole!"

I sit up on the bed. "Bella, you know I hate driving at night. I'm not going. Our daughter can be a freak all she wants. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to sleep!"

Bella slaps the side of my head.

"Ouch!"

"Oh Edward, you got me into this-" she points at her belly "-and now you're getting me food! Do something for the mother of your child!"

"I'm. Not. Going." I say slowly, glaring at her as I say each word.

"You're. Go-ing." She glares back at me, inching her face closer to mine. "You're going, Cullen."

"I wouldn't dream of it, Swan."

"Stop smiling." Bella giggles like a little girl as I start the engine. I shake my head and pull out of my parking spot. "Why did you have to come?"

"Because I want to make sure you get the good tamales and not the rip off ones that are really dry."

"A tamale is a tamale, isn't it?"

"Not a dry one."

I roll my eyes, but take a calming breath.

We reach the closest Mexican restaurant that Bella likes so much and as we are pulling into the empty parking lot, I couldn't help but grin to myself because I was right. Bella is sad, but I'm not surprised.

"Now would you look at that, it's closed at three in the morning. Now we can go back home." I was really looking forward to going back to bed, but when I look over at Bella, who has a small pout on her lips, my happiness fades away. "No. Don't do that," I chided her. Her pout deepens. "Bella." Fuck, she's giving me the puppy eyes. "Don't give me that look, please. You know what that look does to me..."

Nope, that just made it worse.

I groan. Fuck, how far could the next Mexican restaurant be?

"Fine," I give in reluctantly.

Bella squeals like a little girl and leans across to give me a big kiss on my cheek.

"You're the best!"

I roll my eyes and pull out of the parking lot. I swear on my life, if my baby girl turns out to be anything like her mother, I'm screwed for the rest of my life. This would be it, I would never win a battle for the rest of my damn life. Nope, not with this woman and that child.

The next Mexican restaurant was twenty minutes away and it was closed. Bella searched for another one that was another fifteen minutes away and it was closed once again. Bella was beginning to get frustrated as we didn't find an open Mexican restaurant that sells tamales or an open donut shop.

We drive around town, literally. It got to the point where we both gave up. Until...

"Oh, Alice has food!" Bella says.

"Yes, because I'm sure Alice has a full stock of Mexican food and glazed donuts."

"Please!" She begs.

God fucking dammit. We drove back to Alice's apartment. It was now four in the morning and we were walking up the stairs to my sister's apartment where she is currently sleeping with her husband.

"How are we-" Bella pulls out a key, interrupting my oncoming question. "Who gave you that?"

"Oh, I stole it from Jasper and had him think he lost it," she says as she unlocks the door. "That way I can come in, steal food and go undetected."

"Huh. You really are cunning."

Bella smiles and opens the door.

We walk in the dark apartment, at the same time Jasper walks out of the kitchen with a cup of milk. His eyes widen and in that moment Bella screams and then he screams and then we hear Alice scream from the entrance of their bedroom.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" He yelled.

Bella looks at me and then at him. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

He looks at Alice and then back at us. "I LIVE HERE!"

I step in. "I'm sorry, guys..."

"What's going on?" Alice walks out, wrapping a robe around herself.

"Bella has cravings and we've been driving around for an hour looking for tamales and donuts," I say.

Alice raises a brow. "Oh, sweetie... I don't have any of that."

"Oh man." Bella groans. "Do you have anything remotely related?"

"No, I'm sorry."

Bella sighs. "Fine. I guess we'll go back home."

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," I say and rub her back. I'm really looking forward to going back to sleep. I look at my sister. "We'll leave you guys to it."

I start guiding Bella out the door.

"Wait!" We look back at Jasper. "How did you guys get in?"

"Oh."

I look down at Bella. It takes her a moment before she takes the key from her pocket and slowly hands it to Jasper. She has an innocent smile.

"I found your key."

Alice gasps and takes the key from Bella. "You're the one who has been sneaking in and taking my food?!"

"Go, go, go!" Bella runs out the door.

I chase right after her and slam their door so at least we have a five second advantage before they chase out after us.

Once in the car, Bella lets out a huge sigh and her pout returns.

"I really wanted some tamales."

"Sorry, honey." I take her hand in mine. "Want to go home?"

She nods and adjusts the seat so she's laying down. She's fast asleep when we get home, so I carry her to bed. She curls up on my bed, hugging my pillow and I felt a little bit of guilt over not getting her the food she's been craving. Ugh, I guess I really am never winning any battles, am I? I google the closest Mexican restaurant that could possibly be open at this time. There's not one but I do find a food truck just a couple miles from here. I kiss Bella's head and then walk out of the apartment.

Fuck, the things I do for this woman.

"Hey, sir. How can we help you?" A woman smiles at me from the small window.

"Do you guys sell tamales?"

"We do! We still have five left, which ones would you like?"

"All of them!" I pull out my wallet. "I've been looking for these all night long."

"How come?" A man, who I can only assume is her husband, asked as they packed the tamales in a bag.

I chuckled. "Midnight cravings."

"Yours?"

"My... girlfriends." I still have a hard time trying to refer to Bella when they ask what we are. What should I say? Oh it's for my best friend who is carrying my child? So I'll just stick to the girlfriend excuse.

The man chuckles and hands me the bag. "Is there something else we can give you?"

I look at the stand where they have drinks, chips, bread, cookies, candies, etc. That's when my eyes land on the big sugar donuts right next to the drinks. I look up at the sky, silently thanking God and ask the man to give me the five he has left.

"You guys just saved my life!" I wave at them as I run toward my car. They wave back and go to the next customers that just showed up.

Bella is awake when I get home. She runs to the door with a panicked expression.

"Where were you? You were gone when I woke up!"

I show her the bag. "I went for this."

"For what?"

"Tamal-" she snatches the bag from me "-es..."

"YOU FOUND THEM!" She jumps up and down and then runs to the kitchen. "Oh god, oh god, oh god thank you so much!"

"But wait, there's still more!" I mock the guy from those commercials. I hold the second bag, which has the donuts.

"Yes!" She snatches the second bag from me. I watch her unwrap her tamale and take a bite from her donuts as well. She moans as she takes each bite, those orgasm type moans. I sit next to her on the stools and take out my own bag. "What's that?" She asks with a mouthful.

"Asada fries. All that driving around looking for Mexican food made me hungry." I grab my fork and dig into my plate. I slap her hand away when she tries to take a fry. "You got your food!"

She glares. "Sharing is caring."

I scoff. "Fuck sharing. I didn't spend two hours of my night looking for tamales and donuts for you just so you end up eating my carne asada fries."

"Well, the baby wants fries and so do I." She takes a fry, challenging me with her eyes and with a small cunning smile on the edge of her lips.

"You little shit." I take a tamale from her and a donut. "Even Steven."

Bella laughs, throwing her head back. "You're such an ass."
