Author Note:
Hi friends. I'm sorry for the long wait between chapters, I kept debating on whether or not to continue due to this story not being as popular as my others (see my Wattpad) and dealing with writer's block. But I'm back now. Enjoy!

Roman's POV
Ruby hops off my lap and scurries toward the bathroom, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I pick up my whiskey and take a sip. I hope I didn't make her uncomfortable. That would ruin my plan. Five minutes of waiting turns into ten, ten turns into fifteen, and I decide to go find her and find out what's going on. I grab Melodic Cudgel and make my way through the crowd in the direction of the bathrooms. Panic starts to set in when I don't see her, but rage burns through me when I find her. Some guy has his hand on her arm. She looks uncomfortable and she's arguing with him. I storm closer to them and when I get close enough to hear what they're saying and the rage burns hotter. He's trying to convince her to dance with him, and she's not having it.
"I said, 'Let go of me!'" she growls.
"I just wanted a dance!" He whines.
As I get closer, I raise Melodic Cudgel and press the barrel to his temple. "Let her go. Now." I say through gritted teeth. The bastard releases her and I grab him by his shirt before dragging him toward the exit as Ruby stands there in shock. I shove him outside and grab him by his throat. "If I ever see you here again, I won't hesitate to kill you." I turn and make my way back to Ruby. What am I doing? Why am I protecting her?. "Are you okay, Red?" I approach Ruby and pull her into an embrace and kiss her forehead to calm her.
"I'm okay. Just a little shaken." She nods and pulls back. "I think I'm ready to go home, though."
"Okay. I'll walk you." I offer.
"I think I can take care of myself. I'm a huntress, you know." She argues.
"A half drunk, frightened huntress without a weapon. I'm walking with you."
She rolls her eyes at me. "Fine. You can walk me home."
I smirk. "Good girl." I interlock our fingers and lead her out the door and start in the direction of her apartment.
She blushes and shoots me a death glare. "I told you not to call me that."
"Aw, why not? The blush you get after I do it is so cute."
"Because." She turns her head away from me. "I said so, that's why. And I'm not cute."
"You are." I pinch her cheek and she nips at my fingers. "Hey, that's not nice. Do it again and I'll bend you over my knee and spank your bratty ass."
She turns dark red and gasps. "You wouldn't dare."
"Want to find out?" The thought sends heat rushing to my groin. Fucking hell, I don't need a boner right now.
"No." She crosses her arms.
"That's what I thought. Respect your elders and stop arguing with me."
"Whatever." She grumbles.
"I see you've been taking lessons from the Schnee."
She ignores me and we walk mostly in silence for the rest of the trip until we reach her apartment.
"Well, I guess this is goodnight." Ruby says.
"Aww, I don't get a goodnight kiss, Red? I'm hurt."
"Fine. But no tongue." She rolls her eyes at me again and she's still blushing.
I wonder if she was thinking about my threat to spank her on the walk home. She stands on her tip toes, hey eyes flutter closed and I rest my hands on her hips. I lean forward and our lips connect. Fuck, her lips are so soft. I struggle with the urge to press my tongue against her lips. I don't want to go too far and scare her away too soon. It seems that neither one of us wants to be the first to pull away. As the kiss goes on, I have to fight the urge to press her against the wall. I decide to break the kiss before I push her too far. "Goodnight, Red. I'll see you next time." I tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. I can't help but admire her breathtaking silver eyes.
She gives me a soft smile. "Goodnight, Torchwick." She turns and puts her key in the door knob.
I notice that she has a new lock now, just like I suggested. I wait until I hear the lock click before turning away and walking in the direction of my house, knowing I'm going to need a cold shower when I get home.
