A/N Illyria doesn't display the ability to manipulate time until after she has the powers stored in the crystal on the show, so in this story she doesn't currently have them.

Xander woke when the phone rang and he got up to answer it. Cordelia stirred and woke up too. She glanced at the clock on the beside table, they'd only been back at Faith's apartment for a few hours and they'd gone straight to bed, she had to be at the studio early tomorrow and they'd all felt tired and worn out after the scare they'd had. Hopefully it was a wrong number, but Cordelia doubted it. Xander confirmed it a few minutes later.

"Automatic call-out." He told her. "The base's gone on alert, something happened and I'm willing to bet it has something to do with Knox and Illyria. Don't leave the apartment unless you have to, Cor. I'll be back as soon as I can." Cordelia nodded solemnly and watched as he dressed quickly, kissed her and left. She wasn't getting back to sleep, not with a potential apocalypse looming, so she got up and got dressed. She went to Faith's little kitchen and started a pot of coffee.

"Something's happening, isn't it?" Dawn asked, from the couch.

"Yes." Cordelia wasn't going to lie to Dawn, shielding her from the monsters just wasn't possible. "The alarm's gone off at the base, everyone's being called in. Leave stops, when action is needed."

"Do you think he'll still come after me?"

"I honestly don't know. But Faith keeps a gun in a lockbox and she gave us the code for it. Xander made sure I could shoot. If that Knox ass comes here, he'll have to get through me and a decent sized gun to do it. Add to that, we're on the first floor, jumping out of the window is an option. We don't just lay down and accept death, we fight it tooth and nail."

Dawn nodded and than she got up and got dressed too. "I'm not dying in my pajamas. And it's awfully hard to run without shoes on my feet." She joked, as she tied the laces on her tennis shoes. Cordelia just smiled and handed her a cup of coffee, fighting death and apocalypses required one to be as alert as possible.

Xander headed for the base, a knot in his gut as he brain stormed how to deal with an Old One reborn. He was missing a great deal of information, such as Illyria's size, was she giant like she was originally, like the Mayor had become? What powers did she have available to her in her reborn form? The reports had said Glory had strength, speed and a need to brain suck people, would Illyria have any of those abilities? How to muster a response? Once he arrived, he headed for the briefing room, figuring it was the most likely place to find General Higgins. It was.

"Here's what we know." The General began. "Carson Knox is now Illyria, him being dead didn't stop her from taking over the body. Bullets injure, but don't kill it. Something bigger will be needed. Samantha Grand, our resident Magic user, is dead. Camera footage in Samantha's lab shows Samantha defending herself with Magic while her assistant, Karen, ran out of the lab caring a box. Illyria ignored her sarcophagus and went after Karen."

"That suggests Karen had something Illyria wants." A soldier who's name tag read Morgan said.

"Earlier footage from before Illyria showed up shows Samantha and Karen removing a crystal from the sarcophagus and securing it in a box, Karen was holding that box when Illyria attacked."

"That crystal's part of Illyria's resurrection plan." Xander offered. "Which means we have two objectives, destroy the crystal and destroy Illyria. If handguns aren't enough to stop her, well I once used a rocket launcher on a demon. Worked too."

"And let's not forget, you also used a homemade bomb to blow one up. I'm familiar with your history, Corporal Harris and you are an artillery specialist, it's to be expected."

"Yeah, but both of those were before I joined the Army, it wasn't expected then."

"Does that mean we're going to blow the crap out of this thing?" Morgan asked.

"I'd say it's an excellent place to start." The General agreed. "Magic had some affect, but not that much and our bullets have proven they can injure it, so yes, let's start with blowing it up. Corporal Harris, see what you can make of our armory."

"Yes, Sir. One big boom coming right up. Of course, back up booms should also be arranged."

"Can I be on his team?" Someone called out. "I like how he thinks." Which released some of the tension with laughter.

"Like everyone in Demon Command, Karen Allen has a subcutaneous transmitter in her arm." The General continued, getting serious. "And Illyria is looking for her. We find her first and we may be able to save her, because it's the crystal Illyria's after. Worse case scenario, Illyria can jump hosts. Some demons can and we have no idea if Illyria can, so be alert for the possiblity. You have your orders. Dismissed."

The now solemn soldiers filed out of the briefing room, heading for the armory and hoping they had enough firepower to bring Illyria down before she got her powers back and found her Army of Doom.

A/N In real life subcutaneous transmitters are used to track animals, but Stargate uses them, so why not Demon Command?
