Sorry about the delay. Life stuff happened and I didn't have the buffer I did last time. Luckily its only been...*checks date* Well that's longer than I meant to.

Oh well. Here's the next chapter, I'll try to make up for lost time later! Sorry for keeping you waiting.

Yui woke up to something shaking her. She enlarged her fist, only to see Mom grinning down at her. "Wake up sleepy-head. I'm going to be on call soon, so this is your last chance for me to help you get ready."

Yui rubbed her eyes. "Where's dad?"

"Your father already joined Edgeshot at the Agency. The two of them are investigating a case, leaving mommy to take on the bad guys today."

"Couldn't you have let me wake up on my own?"

"If I did that, Mikumo would be the one waking you."

Yui folded her arms. "Would not! I can get up on my own!"

"Oh yeah? Like that last time when you told me to distract him at the door while you tried to pretend-"

"Ugh! Never mind!" Yui said. She threw off her blankets and got out of bed. She changed out of her pajamas into her clothes (with her more stretchable quirk suit underneath of course), then ate the breakfast her mom made her.

She finished, walked out and folded her arms. "See? You didn't need to get me-"

The doorbell rang. Mom's smile became incredibly smug. "You were saying?"

"Never mind." Yui walked to the door and tore it open, smiling at the sight of her scruffy friend. "Hey Yamikumo!"

Yamikumo's black hair was wild and untamed as ever, part of it almost covering one of his red eyes. The moment she opened the door, a small smile appeared on his face. "Hey Yui."

"Come on! Let's go!" Yui said, practically dragging him out the door. She wanted to see the kids at the park and she wasn't waiting. Once she was sure he was following, she started sprinting

Mikumo soon caught up, racing next to her. Yui tried lengthening her legs to outrun him, but he soon outpaced her.

Yuu smiled at the kids' running. Mikumo may still be distant from the other kids, but not her. She was his closest friend. In fact, since Tokyo they'd been inseparable.

The other Lurkers were investigating Villain groups suspected to have deployed the Psionic Transmitter in Kyoto. The devastation from that battle…Yuu had helped dig out the bodies left behind.

Kaiju attacks were growing. Just yesterday, Baragon had leveled a rural town just to kill a Gargantua. The world was getting worse every day. They had to come up with a solution soon, while their children still had a nation to inherit.

Mina marched in step with many of the other AMF forces. They stopped in front of the cave. The first couple waves lined up, many of whom were foreign.

Kiriko examined the soldiers. "You, where are you from?" she said, pointing at one.

"Australian Anti-Beast Brigade ma'am! I've killed bug nests before, and I'll kill em again."

She nodded, and walked to the next group. "You?"

"American AMF! We've smoked ant hives. We've smoked Zilla nests! Today we smoke maggot nests."

She nodded and continued.

Mina muttered, "What's she doing?"

Emoto shrugged. "Best to make sure the foreign soldiers can actually fight. Just because we can spare losing them doesn't mean we want to."

"Why doesn't she just send in her own?"

"We can't keep losing our most experienced soldiers. Not at the rate we did after Tokyo."

Mina shivered slightly. So the foreigners were more expendable huh? That sort of coldness was something Mina still did not like about the AMF, though she understood.

The first group went in. It was starting.

Shinichi and Kazama went in first, joined by a small team of Japanese AMF, G-Force specifically. The two were armed with two .50 caliber machine guns in hand, too unwieldy for anyone else, but perfectly fine for them. Kazama had lobbied for "Ol Painless" but was overruled. The tow's enhanced vision allowed them to see further than the others, along with noticing even the smallest movement.

They led a Japanese group down one way while the foreign soldiers went another. Soon they heard the high pitched chirping of Meganulon. As it got louder, Shinichi and his brother slowed. That sounded like a lot.

They stopped and raised their guns. Everyone else did the same.

"Start walking backwards," Shinichi said.

"What?" said someone.

"Start. Walking. Backwards," said Kazama.

The others complied, slowly at first, but then quickly. Ahead, Shinichi saw the faintest reflection of light. They were there. A lot of them.

From the way they came, they heard a pained scream, followed by gunshots, flamethrowers, and the spray of cold guns. Meanwhile, the bugs in front got closer and closer, with more and more coming from the gloom. Shinichi's eyes widened.

"It's a horde," Kazama muttered.

Then, the two opened fire.

The yellow fluid burst from the bugs at the front of the pack. The rest rushed forward, shoving their fallen aside with an unholy screech. The brothers fired in bursts, tearing the bugs one by one. But for every one that died, two more took its place.

Kazama turned to the soldiers behind him. "Lay a moat."

Two soldiers with flamethrowers stepped up from behind and fired at the ground, creating a small wall of fire between them and the bugs. The bugs pushed through, prodded by the sheer mass behind them, despite the clear agony of doing so.

Shinichi said, "Freeze them!"

The soldiers sprayed their cold guns at the swarm. Meganulon screeched at the cold before their now brittle exoskeletons were blown apart by the mix of Shinichi and Kazama's gunfire, along with shotgun blasts from the other soldiers.

The comms crackled. "Ozakis! Do you read?"

"We're busy!" Kazama said.

"Fall back. Now. There's too many of them on our end. We're being pushed back. If we don't reach the first fork close enough together one of us could be cut off."

Shinichi and Kazama shared a look. "Copy that," Kazama said.

The group began falling back. Walking backwards, making the occasional flame wall, while Shinichi and Kazama kept blasting into the horde. Most nests would have long since fallen back. Yet these kept coming.

"Dammit," Kazama said. "I knew there were a lot, but this is ridiculous! How'd we miss a hive this big?!"

"We've been spread too thin!" Ozaki said, "Can't hunt them like we used to."

Shinichi reloaded his gun.

"Where are you guys?" the radio screamed. Followed by one of his men given the sounds.

"At the last corner!" Kazama said. He turned the men behind him. "Just run! We'll catch up!"

The soldiers looked hesitant for one moment. Then, they turned tail and ran. Shinichi and Kazaama then unleashed every shot they had, firing bursts into bug after bug. Compound eyes burst, exoskeletons shattered, and bugs screamed. Yet nothing stopped them.

"I'm out!" Kazama said, putting his gun over his shoulder.

"Let's go!" Shinichi said.

He and Kazama turned and ran back as fast as they could without falling. Due to their quirks, they could run at the speed of a professional sprinter without faltering.

As they reached the end, they heard more sounds of gunfire and flamethrowers. The two burst out of the fork. Most of the Americans were here and about half of the Australians. They fired their flamethrowers, along with one or two quirks, at the coming horde. They barely slowed it down.

"Let's go!" Kazama said, grabbing some ammo from one of the soldiers, reloading, and firing several bursts to support the retreating Americans.

"Where's the rest of yours?" Kazama said to an Australian.

"Cut off at a later fork. We got out what we could."

Kazama looked grave. "Let's go."

The soldiers all turned and ran. As they reached the entrance, they saw other AMF groups gathered, aiming heavy machine guns down the cave. The group blew past them. The heavy guns fired into the cave. The approaching screeches grew louder.

X got off his radio. "Our clients getting impatient! The news said that Godzilla and Anguirus just landed in Yaizu. Maybe we could-"

"No! I won't take credit for anyone's work but my own," Mifune said. "I'm still looking for proper candidates. If nothing else, a mere Gargantua will-Wait."

"What is it?"

"AMF frequency. Meganulon nests. Too many for just…Unless-" He paused. Then, he smiled. "Oh yes. That might work. That might work very well."

X decided to tell them to wait another day. Entertaining things happened when the professor got that look.

The group that had gone in reform with the G-Force veterans. Mina's group then moved in along with another veteran AMF group. They took aim at the entrance to the tunnel. They were ready.

For about twenty seconds.

First, the Meganulon emerged from the tunnel. The G-Force group fired at them in volleys, blasting away at row after row. However, the force was relentless, sending more after more until the G-Force group slowly backed away. Fortunately, even in retreat they were a coordinated machine. As the horde got further from the tunnel, growing larger and more spread out, the other veterans and foreign soldiers lined up their shots, acting as a coordinated team.

Mina's group sloppily got into a line. Emoto raised his launcher. "Prepare volleys! Ready…FIRE!" They fired at more or less the same time, sending a row of rockets into the Meganulon (and a few over their heads, which just hit the bugs behind the front).

Emoto scowled, even Mina grimaced (not that she could complain given that she missed Godzilla).

The groups slowly backed away as they fired at the horde. Something felt off. Mina, possibly due to the instincts she'd honed through countless hours training and fighting as a Hero, looked down the slope. "Incoming!"

Another horde had emerged from another cave system below them. More were coming out of yet other caves, attacking the other groups. Emoto tried to reorganize his men to face the new enemies. The others were clearly terrified out of their minds, but shakily got into line. Mina reloaded her launcher with ammo from her pack, but they'd need more soon. They tried to keep firing, but the hordes just got closer and closer, the gap between each shrinking with every second.

Many terrified soldiers eyed that gap hungrily, their terror growing. Then, as the horde refused to slow down, someone finally said, "Screw this!" then threw down his launcher and ran.

And as with dominoes, when run ran, so did others, who inspired others to run, who in turn inspired more. Soon then three quarters of it,were all fleeing at top sprint into the gap. "DAMN COWARDS!" roared Emoto. "GET BACK HERE!"

The soldiers didn't listen, even as several Meganulon broke off from the main group to cut them off. Emoto looked at the few who'd remained, either too brave or too scared to run. "After them! We need to reform or we all die! Alien Queen-"

Down the slope, Mina heard one of the fleeing soldiers scream, a Meganulon wrapping its claws around him. "On it! Catch up if you can!" And with that she was off.

Izuku fired a shot in tandem with the others. The rest reloaded, while he stood back and opened his phone to survey the field.

Down below, the robots were slowly making their way up the slope, firing at the Meganulon along the way. At camp, several Meganulon had emerged from the lake, though the camp's guards were handling them without much trouble.

The mountain was a disaster. The three groups had gotten separated, caught by surprise by the sheer size of this horde. The lowest one, the one with rookies, had already panicked and broken. The rest would need ammo once the supplies they had lugged up ran out. Especially since the other two groups only managed to grab a few boxes before the attack.

"Midoriya, what's up?" said Tchujimori.

"They're all over the place. Based on their movements and what we know, they'll probably try to swing around there." He pointed.

Tchujimori said, "They sure are." The soldiers there were already ready and firing.

Izuku continued, "We have to punch through and reunite with the others if we can. Then we have the fighters bomb the horde. With this many out, that should reduce them drastically."

She nodded. "Alright. Get in line and help the others. Let me know if anything else comes up."

Izuku nodded. As he joined the rest in firing at the Meganulon, his heart raced. This situation was objectively terrible, a disaster. Yet, for whatever reason, he felt more alive than he had in weeks.

Mina sped down the mountain, using the slickest acid from her boots to slide like she was ice skating. She leaped and flipped off various rocks and outcroppings until she'd blazed past the fleeing soldiers, spraying a line of (mostly) harmless acid in front of them so they'd stop.

Nearby, a Meganulon loomed over cowering soldier. Mina leaped into a frontflip, then slammed her boot down on the Meganulon. Using her boot, she sprayed highly potent acid into the creature's face, then leaped off of it, landing in a bow.

She gave the fleeing soldier a reassuring smile, "Go join the others up there, and grab anyone you can!" When he hesitated, she said, "Hurry!" As he went, she gave him a smile and thumb's up. She then turned her attention to several of the others.

She refused to let anyone die when she had the power to stop it. She was a Pro Hero, and today these newbies were going to see just what someone like her could really do.
