Warning, It's a small chapter. That's it. Thanks for your attention.
Jane, who was also known as Hermione, realised that she needed a place to practise magic. She knew that Diagon Alley was the perfect place to go, but she didn't want her parents to discover that she was different from the Hermione Granger on July 30th, 1989. So, she decided to take action and asked her mother if she could get a raise in her allowance.
Monica raised her eyebrows at the question but decided to wait so Hermione could elaborate on the reason why 20 pounds were not enough for a weekly allowance and as a plus, she had already saved most of her allowance because she wanted to get the latest version of the encyclopaedia and a computer by Christmas, or so she said at the start of the year.
Jane/Hermione knew what that eyebrow and a question mark on her mother's face meant, so if not the entire truth, a partial truth. "I wanted to visit a vintage store and get some things, but also I wanted to see if I could get a summer job, I don't know, tidying up the dental office? Help management and pay some bills? Plus, buy souvenirs for my friend Harry, you know? I'm not trying to split the atom, just that, and boxing classes and ballet?"
Wendell had listened to his daughter's speech and felt as though Hermione had grown a second head. "Did you say boxing classes?"
"I heard her too, dear, and I'm just as gobsmacked. When did you acquire the need to be physically fit, Hermione?" Asked Monica.
"Ever since I saw my friend Harry get a beating from a gang and got told to stay on the swings before I arrived to give him his birthday card," Answered Hermione with a hard stare into the adjacent wall.
Monica and Wendell noticed Hermione making fists, and the air became heavy with static.
Monica and Wendell anticipated Hermione's next paranormal episode, but they were surprised when she blinked, lowered her eyes, blushed, and breathed calmly instead.
"Why ballet?" Monica asked.
"I can't be a fairy princess, so I'll become a ballerina," said Hermione.
"Let me see if I got this right," said Wendell. "You want to get a job, buy some things, and start exercising?"
Monica chimed in, asking, "And you also want a raise in your allowance?"
Hermione responded, "Do I want a job or a raise in my allowance? Well, to me, it seems like a job would be a better option. As you said, Mum, 20 pounds is not a small allowance."
"Let's start with boxing and add ballet later. The vacancy in the job needs to be filled immediately," Monica said, urging them to keep their agreement.
"Seems fair. What would be my starting salary?" asked Hermione.
"25 pounds," answered Wendell.
Monica nodded in agreement with Hermione's confirmation that the weekly salary would be £25, and the encyclopaedia and computer would be purchased using the back allowance for Christmas.
Wendel smiled and said, "My little girl is going to be a shark when she grows up,"
"Fairy Princess Dad," huffed Hermione.
"Of course," said Monica.
