"Oh, look, look! Shhhh! There they go! There they go!" Striding across the lobby of the Prism Detective Agency HQ were four of their best detectives. What impressive figures the quartet cut! In the lead was a beautiful young lady with pale purple hair and eyes. She wore a simple gray frock, but she walked with such an air and aura of authority, grace, and poise that it was as if she was a princess, or ice queen. She was married only to her post, a heartbreaker, happily turning down suitors left and right, men and women. Even the way she approached the glass doors of the building conveyed purpose and power as the other three detectives followed after her.

"Ms. Adelaide Dupont," Adair West nodded knowingly as she and three others watched from the side of the Prism lobby. Walking slightly behind and beside Adelaide was a handsome man with dark skin and spiky black hair. He wore a cocky, charming smile and a black leather jacket over a white shirt. Arin Graves was the first to recognize and whisper his name.

"Levi Emerson…" He was locked in conversation with the large man beside him, his boyfriend.

"D-D-Daisuke Hirano!" Isaac Bell murmured, eyes going wide. He's the nicest of the four, easily!

Levi was friendly and chummy, as evidenced by the way he whispered animatedly to Daisuke, but Levi's brand of cheer was a little higher-strung than Daisuke's, and a timid man like Isaac preferred the serenity of the larger man. Even then, as Levi chuckled and twirled Daisuke's braid playfully, Daisuke only smiled affectionately at his boyfriend, brown eyes shining behind silver glasses.

Daisuke's size would've made him frightening had he not had the reputation of being such a kind, caring, gentle, polite soul. Patience and peace were embedded in every fiber of his being, and it showed. He was a gentle giant incarnate. Levi was the blinding light of a summer sun while Daisuke was the soft warmth. And last, but certainly not least, of the quartet was—

"Tadashi Ishikawa!" Even though Adair Graves was whispering, the excitement in their face, voice, and eyes was so obvious that their words still managed to project halfway across the lobby. The only reason none of the exiting quartet heard Adair was because they were already halfway out the door. Adelaide was first to reach it, but Daisuke pushed it open, holding it for her and the others. As soon as the door swung shut again, Adair turned to their companions and gasped. "Wasn't that awesome?!"

Arin gave his younger cousin a tired but fond smile. As Adair's biggest inspiration for why they wanted to be a detective, it was Arin's secret pride that he got to be the one to show Adair around the wonderful world of mystery. Though sometimes it worried him… Sometimes Adair seemed to think it was all just a game, an anime, a murder mystery dinner party with a happy ending. That was not always the case. The darker side of the work Prism did was drenched in blood and trauma. Arin was living proof of that. But no matter how much he'd been through, he was still determined to protect his little cousin from the horrors of the world as best he could.

I can't stop them from becoming a detective, but I can at least set them up with good people… That was what Isaac, and to a slightly lesser extent, the other Adair, were for. Isaac and Adair Graves were best friends, even though Isaac was a Prism scientist rather than a detective. And the other Adair—West—although a detective, was already Arin's partner, both in work and relationship. West lived with Arin, so although West was friends with Graves through Arin, West, of course, was still closer to Arin than Adair.

"—no wonder they chose a prism as their main symbol and logo!" Adair Graves was still in the middle of gushing. As the story went, the detective agency chose its logo and name because the little crystal blocks that reflected every color of the rainbow represented the lenses of magnifying glasses, a symbol iconic to detectives and mysteries. And—

"It's a t-t-t-tetrahedral!" Isaac's inner nerd came out in full, both because of the topic at hand, and because his best friend was rambling about it, amping him up too. Isaac was timid, to say the least, but around Adair Graves, some of that shyness melted away, somewhat. "A-a-also k-known as a t-t-t-triangular pyramid!" Perhaps each one of the four sides represented one of the four leading detectives?

"Well, I would say Ms. Adelaide is the front and the face," Adair West chuckled.

"Daisuke and Levi are definitely the two, supporting sides," Arin agreed, chuckling as well as he winked at her.

Their eyes seemed to say the same thing: Great minds think alike!

"And of course, that leaves Tadashi as the base and bottom face of the prism!" Adair Graves concluded happily. "Not because he's last or least, but because he's the very foundation! The leader of the leaders!"

"A-a-and by f-f-far the m-m-most h-h-hidden…" Isaac murmured. Of his quartet, he knew Tadashi best of all, which was to say, almost not at all. Even aside from Isaac working in an entirely different department, Tadashi was so asocial that rumor had it that even Adelaide, Levi, and Daisuke hardly knew him. And with Isaac being the nervous wreck he was, he was always too scared to try to get to know the stoic Head Detective.

I swear, he could kill with his looks! He is as much of an "alpha" as Ms. Adelaide, though more of a lone wolf, but they both scare me a little…

"Hey, maybe we should create a tetrahedral of our own!" Adair Graves said suddenly, opening their arms as if to embrace the other Adair, their cousin, and their best friend. "Isaac, maybe you can be the face since you've worked at Prism the longest. Arin and Adair West can be the two side supporters since they're already a detective couple like Daisuke and Levi. And then I get to be Tadashi!" Adair Graves grinned proudly as they jabbed their chest with their thumb, and the other three all bit back amused smiles.

You? Tadashi? Is fire like ice? The sun like the moon? But of course, none of them had the heart to dash Graves' dreams.

"D-d-did you kn-know th-that d-d-d-diamond is the- the- the- the hardest gems-s-s-stone b-b-because it h-h-has a t-t-t-tetrahedral crystal b-b-bond structure?" Isaac continued. "F-f-fitting, huh…?" It was also in line with Pythagorean numerology. Pythagorean numerology was a pseudoscience, but Isaac still knew about it, and he knew that in it, "4" represented balance. Which, to be fair, is a symbolism that exists even outside of Pythagorean numerology. So that particular fact, if nothing else, is truer than the rest of Pythagorean numerology…

And although Arin did not say it, he was thinking of the number's connection to death. As noted before, he had a hand in some of Prism's most grisly murder cases. It was refreshing that his cousin could look upon the number with kinder, happier eyes. They always introduced themself as an amateur detective, and they always said it with so much pride.

And rightly so, thought Arin with a small smile of his own. For "amateur" comes from the Latin word "amare" which means "to love"…

Graves' radiance was infectious, and Isaac smiled sheepishly as well while Arin felt West's hand slide into his. He smiled at her, squeezing her hand in return. Maybe his cousin's plans were little more than wishful thinking, but what was wrong with a bit of dreaming now and then?

AN: Another of Zero's Prism-verse series! I think their Prism technically, canonically has 5 sides, but for this anthology, it's 4, LOL!
