A/N: Yeah there is just more fluff for you to enjoy. I just thought it was cute to show all these small snippets of their little staycation and make room for some character moments and (more) fluff while also giving you a little more background on the Potters/Peverells.
Happy holidays!
"Morning, sweetheart," Ginny said when Harry opened his eyes. She placed a kiss on his head.
"Morning," Harry mumbled. He reached out to her hand and entwined their fingers. "I like it when you sleep in with me."
"You know I've been awake for over an hour. But it's nice here," she replied.
Harry pulled her closer and then caressed her bump. "And morning to you, nugget." He let his head drop back on the pillow and his eyes closed again.
"Put in some effort and stay awake," Ginny said, pulling up an eyelid on Harry.
"I'm awake!" Harry swatted at her hand as he kept his eyes firmly closed. "Are you trying to poke my eye out?" He opened his eyes now and looked at Ginny, her eyes sparkling. "Can't sleep with you, can't sleep without you!"
She pretended to pout. "You poor man."
"Don't I know it." He reached out and took his glasses off the nightstand. He put them on and looked at her. "Ah, there you are. Very pretty."
Ginny scrunched her nose in amusement. "What do we have planned for today?"
"Absolutely nothing," Harry replied.
"That's unlike us," Ginny commented, rolling over closer to Harry. "Your parents already left for the day."
Harry put his leg over her. "You read my mind."
"Hey! Could you at least pretend to try to convince me?" she said, pushing his leg back off.
He groaned and let himself roll onto his back. He stared up at the ceiling. A moment later Ginny's face appeared above his, smiling brightly.
"My dearest Gin," he started, cupping her cheek. "Would you please do me the honour of making love to me?"
She smiled wider. "Make love?" She was only barely masking her judgment.
He nodded, not easily swayed.
Her fingers danced over her chest. "Making love implies romance, darling."
"Just hang on a moment and I'll go into my closet and get out my secret stash of rose petals and candles," he said, pretending to stand up. "Sit tight."
She pulled him back to the bed. "Don't be like that!"
He dropped back to the bed and looked up at her upside down. "We can settle for normal sex. A quickie." He raised an eyebrow. "Roleplay?"
"Oh, roleplay," she said in amusement. "What roles would we be playing?"
He turned onto his stomach and then pushed up on his knees. "What if you couldn't pay rent?"
She let herself drop onto the bed and laughed loudly. "When did I become part of a porn scene?"
"I am a plumber coming to fix your pipes?" he tried, grinning too.
She laughed more.
He nodded. "Okay. Okay. You get stuck and—"
"NO! Don't even go there," she said, catching her breath. "You're ridiculous."
He squeezed her side. "Right. I'll think of a really good one." His eyes widened. "Are you ready?"
She nodded. "Go on."
"You are my far too sexy step sister and in secret we—" The rest of his sentence was cut off by Ginny roaring with laughter.
"No!" she said as she laughed. She abruptly stopped laughing. She gasped and then pushed off the bed quickly.
Harry knew that face. He followed her to find her hunched over the toilet.
"I thought it was about time I got better acquainted with the Potter toilet," she muttered. "You can't make me laugh that hard on an empty stomach."
"Sorry." He watched her. "Are you okay?"
She nodded slowly. "I just need some food." She stood up and walked to the sink. She eyed him in the mirror. "Harry, I am fine. Stop looking so sad. Go downstairs and make me some toast. I'll be there in a minute."
He nodded and pressed a kiss against her hair. Then he walked downstairs and quickly prepared her some toast and put it on a plate.
She came down the stairs and sat down on the chair. "I guess we're done with sex for the day."
"Not if you're up for it," he told her. "Seriously. And I promise no roleplay."
She offered him a small smile as she nibbled on her toast. "That may be for the best." She caressed her belly. "I thought we weren't doing that anymore, nugget."
Harry watched silently as Ginny leaned against the back of the chair, holding her toast, the other resting on her bump. He smiled at it.
"What?" she asked.
"I think it's cute how you hold your bump so often now," he admitted.
She looked from him down to her belly. "I want her to feel loved and wanted and…" Her gaze danced back up to him.
He scooted closer to her and put his hand on top of hers. "There, for both of us."
She smiled with a nod. "I can't hold her yet. This I can do."
"She'll know," he assured her. "She'll think your arms are the best ones to be in and she'll know your voice already."
"She'll know yours too." Her thumb caressed his hand.
He smiled. "I hope so."
"Are you ready to move in with me?" she asked.
His hand remained on her bump and he smiled. "God no."
She chuckled. "No, but for real?"
"Of course," he said. "We already spend all our time together. It'll be easier when we actually live together. No back and forth with clothes or bothering roommates. And so much privacy."
"Yeah," she said. "Until she comes out! Then it's done with the fun!"
He shrugged. "Then we'll be too busy to look after the greatest baby that has ever been to think about sex."
"I may never want to have sex with you again," she said with a grimace.
He nodded. "And I think that's fair."
"You won't abandon me if I never have sex with you again?" she asked.
"I know you're joking, but I absolutely would not." He kissed her cheek. "I do recall always being there for you before we started having sex. I just want to be with you however that takes shape. If it means looking after our baby and nothing else, okay. If you just want to play a board game every night, I'll do that." He let out a sigh. "I don't care, I just want you." He cleared his throat. "We are not really managing not to have serious conversations, aren't we?"
She shook her head. "We're failing terribly." She leaned towards him and kissed his cheek.
He caressed her bump. "I start feeling like I can't imagine what our life would be like without her. Even though she isn't here yet…" He met eyes with Ginny. "She has been in charge of our agenda for too long."
"As she should," Ginny said. "We would have probably gotten up to something else stupid if it wasn't for her."
He grinned at her. "Like marrying very quickly?"
She chuckled. "Precisely. What else am I supposed to do during summer?"
Ginny lay across from him, looking into his eyes; they were both naked and enjoying a few quiet minutes. She lifted her hand and used her finger to trace a pattern across his chest.
He swatted her hand away. "That tickles."
She stopped with a smile and tucked her hand under her head. She closed her eyes. "If I lay like this and close my eyes, life is perfect for a moment."
He pressed his lips together. "Right, imagine opening your eyes and having to look at me."
Her eyes flew open. "Not what I meant."
He quickly covered her eyes with his hand, pulling his arm around her as she attempted to lift his hand from her eyes. She laughed, trying to pry his fingers away from her face. After a minute of struggling, he let her take his hand off.
She met his eyes. "That's not what I meant." She shuffled closer to him on her knees and brought her face closer to his. "Of course I love looking at your handsome face." Her finger ran down his jaw.
"It's just better when you close your eyes," he replied.
She rolled her eyes. "I phrased that wrong." She pecked his lips, her hand against his cheek. "And you know that."
He nodded silently as his hand reached out. He traced a trail from her jaw down her neck and collarbone, circling around a nipple. Her breath hitched and he looked up to see her soft brown eyes, longingly focused on him.
"I am really starting to think we have wasted our time in previous summers. Imagine how much sex we could have been having?" Harry wondered out loud.
She chuckled and guided his hand back to her breast. He resumed his teasing.
"I think," she started. "That we had plenty of fun. Just not this type of fun." She kissed his jaw. "And how could I start looking for a new boyfriend for autumn if I'm too busy with you?"
"I see, I would throw off your schedule too much." His gaze lifted to her face again.
She raised an eyebrow. "You do throw off my schedule."
His hand lifted so he could gesture with it. "Excuse me, I want to only receive partial blame for that."
She hummed. "That could be negotiated."
She lifted her leg to get on top of him but he moved first. He grabbed onto the back of her thigh and guided her to lie down.
"It's my turn now," he told her.
She smiled at him. Her hand slipped down his back. "If you say so."
Harry looked up from his spot at the table when his mum neared. He had been watching Ginny pace back and forth out on the terrace as she was talking on the phone.
"Do you ever let her out of your sight?" Lily asked in amusement.
"No," he replied, unimpressed by her comment.
Lily sat down beside him. "I'm glad I will get another week in with you. Then you're off with your own family."
Harry looked at her with a slight frown. "I'll visit all the time."
"It won't be the same." Lily made a halfhearted attempt to flatten his hair but it was more a force of habit than an actual attempt.
"I'll miss you too," Harry said.
Lily pulled him in for a hug and he gladly leaned into it. Nothing quite beat a hug from his mum.
"You'll have a granddaughter soon," he said as she released him.
"Hush, I'm still not ready to be a grandma. Far too young." She shook her head lightly. "You could have had a baby in ten years and I would have still thought I was too young."
Harry smiled. "At least she'll have grandparents, and great ones at that."
Lily nodded. "That's true. I am glad for it."
Ginny paused to look at him and he waved. Her face dropped into a murderous stare and he grinned.
"You've always done that," Lily commented.
"What?" He looked back at his mum.
"Your little inside jokes, you two always seem to be in your own little world," Lily said with a smile.
"Was I that blind?" he wondered.
"Sometimes it takes time to see people as a romantic partner, it needs time to grow," she said, looking at her wedding photo on the wall.
"You and dad?" he asked.
She nodded with a chuckle. "Of course I knew I had a thing for him… but I didn't exactly like him when I started at the agency." She raised an eyebrow. "He wasn't used to being told no and so it wasn't easy-going for us when we first met. Only during that undercover mission I realised he wasn't all talk, and I got to know the man underneath the cocky personality."
"Really?"
"Yes." She leaned her head on her hand. "He could be a little annoying and he was 'the son of…' I thought it was nepotism, I didn't trust him to keep me alive, let alone date him…. then the mission happened and I couldn't ignore I had feelings for him all along and he had never hidden the fact that he was interested in me. Once I told him… everything happened so fast." She shook her head. "I cut all contact with my family, got married. Then his dad died and I found out I was pregnant with you."
"And here I am complaining," Harry commented.
She squeezed his arm. "Doesn't mean this isn't also difficult but it is different, and you'll never be alone."
"You have to explain something to me, Ginny," Lily started as she put down her fork.
Ginny looked up with worry. "Okay."
"You told me when you first met me that you don't date in summer," Lily pointed out.
"Ah." Ginny's face broke out in a smile. "Indeed, I did. I said it wasn't a good time for boyfriends."
"What changed?" Lily asked teasingly.
Harry looked up curiously.
"Well. Summertime isn't for boyfriends, they're for best friends." She winked at him. "Summers have been Harry's time for a good while. It's only right to keep that up."
"Aren't I lucky," Harry muttered in amusement.
She nodded. "No, you've tricked me by being my best friend first. I had to bend my age-old rule for you."
"You are known to play by the rules," James commented.
"Definitely," Harry agreed.
"Ginny said you're leaving really early tomorrow," James said.
Harry nodded. "Yes. She has gotten it into her head that she wants to see the sunrise on this one hike… so we have to be up really early." He looked at her, shaking his head disapprovingly. "But we all know who will be taking a long nap in the afternoon and who will just be tired until the evening."
Ginny sipped her lemonade. "No one is stopping you from napping as well, darling."
"I can't nap that long in the afternoon; I'll just be up until the middle of the night and then you'll wake me up again at an unholy hour," Harry retorted.
"If I didn't know you two better, I'd assume you were fighting," Lily noted. "Do you fight?"
"Not often," Ginny said. "The worst one was when he told me about being an agent."
"If that was your worst one, you're doing quite alright," Lily commented. "It was solved by the time I called."
"Ginny usually breaks up with guys instead of fighting with them."
She gasped, looking offended. "Not true!"
"No?" he asked her. "What about Matthew?"
"Okay, he was being a little bonehead and you know it." She looked at him. "Lars and I had a great break-up. Genuinely nice parting of ways."
"Because he did nothing wrong," Harry responded. "Poor dude."
"You date him then if you like him so much!" she told him.
He smiled. "Okay, I'll think about it."
