Ok all, let's get started.
Even as he flew through the air backwards, the force of the blow knocked what little air he had inside of him out. Both his arms and legs were straight and he wasn't able to bring them back to him due to the kinetic force that was pushing him back. Despite the pain in his chest due to the kick that sent in flying in the first place, he still looked directly forward. His narrowed eyes not looking away from Nam-Ek as he stood still, just watching him as he flew backwards.
Alt felt himself hit something but he didn't care for a single moment, he could make out the defence line that John was taking charge of as he flew over it. A handful of different people looked at him, some looked at Nam-Ek and others fired at the Covenant troops. He didn't know what it was he hit, most likely a warthog or tank, he didn't know what it was. All he knew was that Nam-Ek was not being attacked by him and that needed to change.
He felt the impact of something else, this time it was a wall. He knew that well enough due to his line of sight being turned from a wide view to tunnel vision. He was pushed through the concrete walls before slowing down before he stopped in what looked like a kitchen. Alt came to a stop on the ground leaning against the wall. The room he was in had a white floor and walls, it was covered in silver machines that would only belong in a kitchen, ovens, cookers, fridges and freezers, etc.
Alt didn't even blink as he still looked right through the hole he just made, there was a lot of dust in the air, some rubble falling from the ceiling but the view was still clear. So he could see his objective well enough, something that brought him no small amount of annoyance. The very fact this fucker was still alive seemed to grate on Alt's very being like his own soul refused this man to keep living. He was going to kill him! He was going to suffer for what he had done!
Alt was in the process of standing back up, the pain he suffered from the kick fading away for the moment "Uugghh" he heard it from behind him. It was far too close to be from some random part of the war that was taking place all around him at this moment, no, this was much closer.
The confusion he felt was able to lower his anger for a moment and when that happened it allowed his other emotions to take over for just a moment. Which made him care enough to turn around and look behind him, he froze in place as he did so. Alt's eyes widened and his jaw dropped at the sight.
It was at that moment he realized what he hit before the wall "…Sam" he gasped as he looked at the broken form of the Spartan. He wasn't going to make it, that much he knew immediately. He was mostly on the ground with only his head pressed up against the wall.
His helmet was cracked open, most of it broken off and scattered around the floor. The rest of him….. Alt's breath started to quicken as he looked at the broken state of the rest of the body, his left leg was completely flattened into the ground while the right was bent backwards, and a shard of bone was poking out of the joint of his armour. His torso was a tangled mess of dents, twists and punctures. He knew he would regret it but he looked through the armour and had a look at the real extent of the damage.
He was going to die. That was the only thought that went into his mind, Sam's internal organs were a complete mess. Everything below the lungs was blended together into some jumbled collection of flesh, one of his lungs was ripped in half and every vein of the heart was disconnected. Alt suspected that the only reason Sam was still alive now was that his brain was still intact "Stop…. Feeling" he rasped as Alt watched his one bearly intact lung fill with blood "…..Start thinking" the Spartans head started to fall to the ground "we….. need you….. to….. think clearly. Save them Atlas….. save them" as the breath left his lungs with those final words, no oxygen went back in. Alt watched as his brain succumbed to the damage and gave up, not having the strength to continue.
He was dead. The blinding rage he felt before came back in full force and his eyes once again found themselves lighting up in a red hue, the rage doubling to what it was before. He turned away from his friend and looked back out the corridor he just made. The bastard was still just standing there, looking right at him. Alt stood still for a moment and watched as Nam-Ek just stood there, bullets, rockets and grenades went off all around him. He didn't even react. The fucker was just standing there, waiting for him. WHY!? Did he think he was too good for the others?
His hands clenched again and he readied himself to kill this one. But he froze when he took a step forward, his mind forcing him to remember what Sam just said, a whirlwind of different thoughts and emotions going through his mind. Every part of him wanted to kill this man for what he had done and he would but Sam was only dead because he lost his mind and he didn't consider his surroundings. He needed to use the training that he went to the Spartans for in the first place! His breath started to quicken as his mind argued with his heart.
No, he wasn't going to let anyone else die because of him. So he started to think about the best way to move forward, for him it lasted hours, hours of standing in the same place thinking of the best plan going forward, taking in every piece of information he had on this enemy. While not much it would be enough to give him what he needs in order to win and he will, Alt may be thinking more clearly then before, there was no way in hell this man was going to be alive at the end of all this. He wouldn't let him live to see the end of this day.
Three seconds passed in the real world as time moved back to normal and he acted.
Two beams of heat shot from his eyes and moved towards Nam-Ek. The large man brought up both his arms in a cross stance and blocked the brunt of the attack. The second Alt stopped the attack, he sprinted forward towards his enemy just like he did before. Nam-Ek, seeing this coming was quick to come in with a large left hook that would have taken his head from his shoulders if he wasn't so tough.
But he wasn't going to fall for that attack, he wasn't going to let his emotions get in the way of his vengeance. And he would have it. As Nam-Ek's fist swung for him. Instead of trying to tank it like he would have done not even a minute ago. Alt bent his left leg and ducked under the blow, the fist went over his head and instead of moving back or to the side he still went forward, only instead of going for his face with his fist. Alt instead brought his right leg up and kneed his enemy in the torso.
The effect was immediate, Alt heard the grunt come from him as he staggered back a couple of steps but he wasn't going to end his aggression here. He moved in quickly and while his enemy hadn't recovered yet so Alt moved right in front of him and delivered three quick jabs to the man's torso. Nam got a punch against Alts face before he could dodge but he wasn't going to let that stop him.
Nam brought both his fists up to punch him but Alt brought up his own hands in a boxing stance in order to block some of the blows. Which worked as well as he expected, even though the blows that came at him from both sides created shockwaves when the fists collided with his guarded arms, he didn't get through to his body or face.
Kal tanked what damage he could but he knew that he wouldn't be able to keep this up for long, there was a reason why there were weight classes in fighting. As Nam-Ek brought his right fist back to strike again, instead of blocking or even parrying the blow. Alt thought to do something else, he jumped into the air and flipped forward as he did so. Though before he could completely turn, he gripped the chest peace of Nam-Ek and pulled him with him. Despite the size, Alt was able to lift him easily enough and the larger man flipped through the air with him.
He didn't know if he dazed him at all with this random move but he did know that he had an opening, as the flip was completed Alt took his chance and was able to land a solid blow with his right fist to Nam's face. The larger Kryptonian flew back a couple of meters as he managed to land on his feet but Alt didn't let up, without his own feet even hitting the ground he shot forward towards him again.
As Nam was still stumbling from the punch as he hadn't stabled himself yet, Alt was able to close in quickly and deliver a powerful uppercut to the larger man's chin that knocked his head up, a solid right punch and a quick follow-up with a left swing that also landed. Seeing the damage that he was taking, Nam threw a blind swing with his left hand. Now that he was thinking a little more clearly Alt saw it coming and didn't ignore it.
He ducked low to the ground and moved forward under the blow. As fast as he could, Alt moved behind him grabbed him by the back of the armour and flew up into the air. He felt Nam thrash and attempt to shake himself free but Alt wasn't having it. When they reached the average height of the skyscrapers he let go of the larger man back and without even turning flew around him and as it seemed Nam was not immune to the effects of gravity. He was unable to do much to stop Alt from pulling away nearly a mile and then immediately shot forward as fast as he could, delivering a powerful punch to the man's chest and Nam when flying through the air as fast as a cannon and through the nearest building, going through it completely and then past a street into another building.
The line of direction to the ground did not change even slightly despite everything that was in his way. Alt stayed in place as he watched the man slam into the ground, landing on the ground floor of a large building, the creator he made dragged across the ground until he was out of the building and back onto the street.
It was at that moment that he thought to take a moment to breathe, each of them got some good hits in but now they were even. He looked down to the ground and saw that he was hovering in the air, of course, he realised that he had done this the second he watched his family die but his mind was so overloaded by everything he didn't think about it, he just followed his instincts. That couldn't be allowed to change now, this was incredible and he had so many different questions that the scientist in him wanted to know.
But he couldn't think about this now, it was too late anyway. Now that his mind to back to a more… controlled state, he wasn't so reliant on his instincts. He started to fall to the ground before he could stop himself and despite his best efforts, he wasn't able to stop himself from staying in the air.
His eyes only widened slightly as he started to fall to the ground. As he fell, he took a moment to see the fight that was happening all around him. The human forces looked like they were being pushed back by the amount of numbers coming at them, even with the enemy's personal shields gone. Their firepower was still overwhelming for them, which is something that needed to change if they were to win.
Alt crashed into the ground with his legs bending only slightly, the concrete under him breaking as he landed. For a moment, for a single brief moment the fighting stopped all around him. But only for one moment, as soon as he was able to stand up straight he felt the plasma. His head didn't even flinch as the enemy rounds started to focus on him. He looked forward towards the right-most alien line of troops that were standing to advance towards the human lines.
He wouldn't let them get away with what he's done, even if his mind was still slightly more clear than it was a couple of minutes ago. His mind still hasn't changed in some areas, namely this one. He was going to kill every last one of them. He shot forward towards the enemy lines so quickly that a shock wave was left in his wake.
To every other member of this war front who saw him, they just saw a man disappear and reappear. It was Brute who was first, Alt appeared in front of him and punched him in the head before anyone could react, as his fist made contact the head of the alien exploded in a scene of gore and death. Before even the first drop of blood could hit the ground, Alt moved. The Elite was punched in the chest and flew through the air, the Grunt that was just next to it wouldn't even have seen the kick aimed towards his head.
Alt looked at saw a large grouping of aliens together trying to get around him and towards the humans but Alt wouldn't allow that, they were preoccupied already. He quickly moved to a nearby broken-up car with seemingly nothing more than a flick of his wrist. The truck started to fly and crushed the aliens between itself and a nearby wall. He planned on moving to his next target but stopped as a strong force that he was getting used to slammed into the side of his head. Not being ready for the attack, he wasn't able to stop himself.
Alt smashed into the ground next to him but he didn't just stop there, he instead rolled across the ground by what must have been a mile or two. With every role his body took, the trench in the ground just got longer and longer. He didn't doubt that he went through the ground floor of a building or two in the process.
He stopped moving when he landed in a street, looking up into the sky as he made out one of the few remaining UNSC ships in the sky. He didn't even get a moment before he saw a small dot enter his line of sight that came from the same direction he did. It looked like a body that jumped off a building and was falling towards him, seeing the approaching attack from Nam, Alt acted quickly.
And he did something his enemy didn't expect.
Rather than move out of the way to dodge the incoming attack, he made his own. Alt brought his hands back behind his head and placed them flat on the ground, he tucked his legs into his chest and bent his torso. As one he made his move, his arms pushed him from the ground and he shot his legs outwards as they pointed towards the sky.
His arms and legs combined together were enough for him to launch into the air just before Nam could land on him. The shockwave from the collision of Alt's foot smashing into his enemy's chin exploded outwards and shattered all glass around them that wasn't broken already. Nam-Ek's head bent back due to the force of the kick as he fell backwards and landed on his back while Alt was able to land on his feet.
He looked across the broken street and towards his downed enemy. From Nam-Ek's perspective, he was lying on the ground and only just lifted his head in Kal-El's direction. He only saw him walking towards him for just a small moment before the one he was supposed to save lept through the distance between them and slammed into him. His hand wrapped around his neck as he was dragged across the ground.
As he came to a stop Alt brought his hand back and punched him in the face three times before he reached out and grabbed the fist as it approached. As it was blocked, Nam reached out with his free hand and grabbed Alt's that was trying to choke him. With his more powerful bulk, he was able to slowly drag the hand away from him and took no small amount of pleasure as he watched the fury etch into Alt's face as he tried to fight against him.
Though when his eyes glowed red Nam tried to quickly reach out towards Alt's head in order to stop this attack but found that before he could Alt grabbed his wrists and while not being able to stop him completely. He was able to slow him down long enough for the two beams to blast right into Nam's face.
The larger man grunted as he did his best not to show the pain he was in as he watched through narrowed eyes as the protective mask around his face started to melt away and the molten nano metal dripped onto his skin. The red light that encompassed all of his vision disappeared but it was too late, the damage was done.
To Nam-Ek he could hear the entire battle happening all around him at once, he could see every scent this dead city had to offer, and he could see right through the man who was on top of him and could even see the individual cells that made up his body "You thought it would end here!" Kal-El's voice shouted at him as he remained completely unmoving as his body was unable to respond to his command, too busy with so many new stimulations overloaded him "YOU THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE EASY!" if he were still capable of it, he would have felt his body being picked up and thrown into the air. High in the sky.
"YOU BELIEVED WE WOULD GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT!" Kal's voice continued to shoot as he felt a great force punch his body in different directions causing him to spin in the air "WE WOULDN'T! WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER" the voice said again, seemingly getting louder and louder. Kal's statement was so loud that the air around them seemed to shake the very air itself and the shockwave could be heard across the entire planet.
"HUMANITY STANDS!"
We shall leave it there for now, I know it's a little short but I've had a cold the last couple of days. Anyway, let me know what you think in the reviews and I'll see you in the next chapter.
