Kanto Gets Loud

Chapter 19: Mount Moon

At the same time, back over in Pewter City,

The four trainers had just arrived at the shop Brock was talking about, which looked like a rundown corner store, "Alright, we're just here for a map across Mount Moon. That's all," Brock said.

"This place definitely looks shifty," Lincoln commented, as they entered the shop. Inside, they saw all manner of merchandise which ranged from stuff that looked like ordinary home décor, to just plain junk. Lincoln winced upon seeing the prices of some of the merchandise, "And this stuff looks like a bunch of ripoffs," he quietly stated, as he picked up a box with several different colored stones.

"Ah, interested in this evolutionary stone box set? It can be yours for the low, low price of 12,000 Pokedollars," a shifty man's voice said. Lincoln turned to see the man in question.

'Even the shop owner looks shifty,' Lincoln thought, "Er, not right now. I don't really have that kind of money on me. What I really need is a map of Mount Moon," he replied.

"Ah, a traveler! I have maps aplenty. They can guarantee you a safe journey through Mount Moon, using the shortest and quickest route. Although…," the store owner said, his tone indicating he was planning something.

"'Although'?" Lincoln questioned, not trusting the man's tone.

"The maps I have do have the quickest routes through Mount Moon, but for a little bit extra cash, I can sell you some special maps that can show you the location of some incredibly rare Pokemon. So, what do you say?" the store owner asked.

"Hmm, I don't know. How can I be sure you're not just trying to pull a fast one on us?" Lincoln asked. His traveling party were surprised with how sharp Lincoln was, as was the store owner.

"Ooh, you're a sharp one. But I give you my word that the information about the rare Pokemon is 100% legit. I tell you what, if you buy one of my special maps, I'll even throw in these," the man said, as he pulled out a wooden box. Upon opening it, Lincoln and friends were greeted with the sight of a trio of odd looking Pokeballs. The top part of them was black and blue on each side, with a crescent moon symbol on the very top, "These are Moon Balls. They work especially well on Pokemon that evolve using something called a 'Moon Stone'," he explained.

"And are these legitimate articles too?" Lincoln asked.

"100% I have a friend over in Johto who I order these types of Pokeballs from at least once a month," the man said, as he opened one of them, proving that they were real.

"I would probably take him up on his offer. Even if his 'special maps' are bogus, you'll at least get some rare Pokeballs," Raigo suggested.

"What do you mean 'rare Pokeballs'?" Lincoln asked curiously.

"Ah, I'm glad you asked. You see, these Moon Balls are part of a special series of Pokeballs that are made from a certain type of fruit called 'Apricorns'. Depending on the color of the Apricorn, you can have them converted into one of seven types of Pokeballs. Here, I have some replicas for display purposes," the man said, as he got out a stand with seven different Pokeballs, including the Moon Ball. The other six balls included one that looked like a regular Pokeball, but with a lightning bolt pattern on the upper half, a grey Pokeball with four bubbles on top, the same kind of Pokeball that Misty got from her Wonder Trade, a green Pokeball decorated with four red dots slanting toward the center button on both sides of the vertical mid-line on the top half and a gold dot near the "top" part of the ball's top half as seen from the front. The next ball was a pink one with a heart design on its upper half. The last one had an upper half that was mostly yellow with the very top portion being black, with a red "V" on the front.

"Whoa, these designs all look so cool," Lincoln commented.

"Indeed. And I tell you what, seeing as how sharp you were in figuring out my upsell, I'll throw in one of each of these special Pokeballs into your order free of charge," the man offered.

"Well, that's definitely a steal! You should take it, Lincoln," Misty suggested.

"Well, I don't see why not. Sure thing. But could I get an explanation on what each Pokeball does?" Lincoln said.

"Certainly. Now then, if you have a Red Apricorn, you can have it converted into a Level Ball. These are most handy for catching Pokemon that are at a lower level than yours. A Blue Apricorn will yield a Lure Ball. These will help you out with catching Pokemon you get from fishing. Green Apricorns will yield a Friend Ball, which can help you become closer friends to whatever Pokemon you catch. Heavy Balls are made from Black Apricorns. They're used to catch Pokemon that are very heavy, such as Onix. Giving a Pink Apricorn will yield a Love Ball. These are handy for catching Pokemon that are the opposite gender than yours. Moon Balls are made from Yellow Apricorns, and you already know what those do. Last, but not least are the White Apricorns. They're used to make Fast Balls, which are handy for catching Pokemon that are quick to run away," the man explained.

"I see. So I should use each one wisely," Lincoln concluded.

"Indeed. Now then, as for the original transaction for one map of Mount Moon, along with the other 2 Moon Balls, your total will come out to 1,500 Pokedollars," the man said, as Lincoln handed him his Trainer Card. After taking a moment to scan it, the man handed back Lincoln's ID, "You're all set. Good luck up there," he said, as he got one of each of the Special Pokeballs and a map of Mount Moon.

"Thanks," Lincoln said, as he placed his new Pokeballs into his bag, along with the map.

Later, on the road to Mount Moon,

"I gotta say I'm impressed Lincoln. You were quick to see how the guy was trying to rip you off, and you got a handful of special Pokeballs to boot," Brock commented, as they were hiking along a trail.

"Yeah, but I have to admit, I was a bit worried that I was going to get ripped off during the whole conversation," Lincoln replied.

"You did great back there, Lincoln," Raigo said.

"He's right you know. Most people would just buy into that kind of deal without a second thought, but you were sharp enough to figure it out immediately," Misty added.

"Yeah. Well, anyway, should we take a look at the map, or wait till we're closer to Mount Moon?" Lincoln asked.

"There's a Pokemon Center at the base of Mount Moon, so let's wait until we're there before we look at the map," Brock replied.

"Alrighty then. By the way, why is it called 'Mount Moon' in the first place?" Lincoln asked.

"Well, its because of an asteroid that fell to earth millions of years ago that slammed into the mountain. People call it the 'Moon Stone'," Brock explained.

"Oh, what a romantic name!" Misty gushed.

"That asteroid is how Mount Moon originally got its name. But among all the Zubat, Geodude, Onix, and Paras that inhabit the mountain, there's one particular Pokemon that really catches the attention of trainers everywhere," Brock continued his explanation.

"Could it be that incredibly rare Pokemon that guy was talking about?" Lincoln asked.

"As much as I hate to admit he's right, it is. The Pokemon's name is 'Clefairy'. They're pretty skittish Pokemon, and don't come out very often, so people rarely ever see them, much less catch them," Brock explained.

"Hmm, well, if we do end up running into any Clefairy, I would like to try catching one, as well as a few other new additions to the team," Lincoln stated.

"Well, good luck with that. As Brock just said, Clefairy are pretty shy, and don't come out in front of humans too often," Misty replied.

"Well, you never know. Maybe we'll just get lucky," Lincoln replied. Misty was about to say something to that, but came up with nothing, given how lucky Lincoln's been since they've joined up. Just then, the Pokemon Center came into view.

"Well, there it is! We can study the map before we head over the mountain," Brock said, as they made their way over to the Pokemon Center, when…

"AAH! HELP!" a man's voice called out.

"Someone's in trouble!" Raigo exclaimed, as they rushed over to the source of the scream. They soon arrived at the source, where they saw a man in a white lab coat being harassed by a bunch of small, blue colored bats.

"What are those?" Lincoln questioned, whipping out his Pokedex.

"Zubat, the Bat Pokemon, a Poison and Flying Type. Despite having no eyes, Zubat can maneuver through dark caves using echolocation. Because sunlight causes them to burn easily, Zubat prefer to live in caves, and only venture out during the night," his Pokedex explained.

"PLEASE, GET THESE ZUBAT AWAY FROM ME!" the man pleaded.

"Pikachu, quick! Use Thundershock and scare away the Zubat!" Lincoln instructed. Pikachu nodded, before firing off Thundershock at the Zubat, electrocuting the whole lot of them, as well as the man they were saving by mistake.

"Oops, my mistake," Pikachu winced, as they Zubat flew back into the cave.

"Are you alright?" Lincoln said, as they rushed over to the man.

"Yes, I am. Thank you for saving me from those Zubats. Might I get the name of the youth that saved me?" the lab coat wearing man asked.

"It's Lincoln Loud," Lincoln replied.

"Lincoln, I cannot begin to express just how grateful I am to you! My name is Seymour by the way," the man said.

"Well Seymour, what was going on with those Zubat?" Brock asked.

"Well, there has been some strange activity going on in Mount Moon, so I was sent out here to investigate," Seymour replied.

"I see. Could that strange activity be what was causing those Zubat to attack you?" Lincoln asked.

"More than likely it was. All of the Pokemon that are living on Mount Moon have been behaving very strangely because of the activity, not just the Zubat," Seymour replied, before he noticed one Zubat that was on the ground not too far from them, "Speaking of Zubat, this one appears to have been paralyzed from Pikachu's Thundershock."

"Hang on, I have a Paralyze Heal," Lincoln said, as he got out a yellow spray bottle, before going over, and giving Zubat a spritz. Within seconds, Zubat appeared to have been cured of its status ailment, "You know, this Zubat kind of reminds me of one of my little sisters back home. I think I'll catch it," he said, as he rummaged around in his bag for a Pokeball.

"Really? You're going to catch a Zubat?" Misty asked.

"Yeah. Is there an issue?" Lincoln asked.

"Not really, but most people view Zubat as just pests, and often ignore them. But it is your call," Misty replied.

"You might want to use the Friend Ball you got in Pewter City. Something good might happen if you grow closer to Zubat, especially after it evolves into Golbat," Raigo suggested.

"Really? Well, if you say so," Lincoln replied, as he got out the Friend Ball, and tossed it at the Zubat, sucking it into the ball. Upon hitting the ground, the Friend Ball rocked a few times before finally clicking shut.

"Would you like to add Zubat to your party and send one Pokemon in your party to storage?" his Pokedex asked.

"Wait, I can do that?" Lincoln asked.

"Affirmative. Trainers, upon catching certain Pokemon, can choose to either send them to storage or swap them out for a Pokemon in their party," the Pokedex explained.

"Huh, that's handy. Yes, I would like to add Zubat to my party," Lincoln replied.

"Please select which Pokemon you want to send to storage in Zubat's place," the Pokedex requested. Lincoln ended up sending Poliwag back to storage, thus adding Zubat to the team.

"So, what exactly is going on inside of the mountain, Seymour?" Lincoln asked.

"It'll be easier to show you. Follow me," the scientist said, leading the four trainers into the cave. Upon entering, the four trainers shielded their eyes upon seeing how bright it was.

"Ack! Why is so bright?" Lincoln questioned.

"It's because of those," Seymour replied, pointing to some floodlights that were set up along the cave walls, "Someone deliberately put up these lights inside the cave, but the Pokemon need it to be dark, and as a result, they're becoming confused. Just look over there," Seymour explained, pointing over to some orang, crab like Pokemon pulling mushrooms off of their backs, "These Paras are planting their mushrooms, and over there," he said, pointing to a small, yellow mouse like Pokemon with a brick patterned body, "That Sandshrew is completely dried out."

"The poor thing looks so thirsty," Misty commented. Lincoln then pulled out his Pokedex and scanned each Pokemon.

"Paras, the Mushroom Pokemon, a Bug and Grass Type. Mushrooms, called 'tochukaso' grow on this Pokemon's back. They can be dried up and turned into powder for traditional medicines. This Male Paras is Level 13, and knows the moves Scratch, Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Absorb, and the Egg Move Fell Stinger.

Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokemon, a Ground Type. Sandshrew's body is configured to absorb water without waste, enabling it to survive even the harshest of deserts. It curls up into a ball to protect against enemies. This Female Sandshrew is Level 16, and knows the moves Poison Sting, Defense Curl, Rapid Spin, Fury Cutter, Magnitude, and the Egg Move Metal Claw," the Pokedex explained.

"I'll give it some water," Lincoln said, as he got his thermos out, and poured some water into the cap, before offering it to Sandshrew, "Here, take some."

"Water… is that… for me…? So… thirsty," the Sandshrew wheezed.

"Yes. Take it," Lincoln replied. Sandshrew needed no further encouragement, as she took the water, and drank it up happily.

"Ah, much better. I thank you, human," she said.

"No problem. Would you like to…" Lincoln couldn't get in his question, as a loud roaring sound echoed through the caves. Sandshrew ran off, as a rather ornery Onix erupted from the ground.

"A wild Onix! And it sure doesn't look too happy!" Raigo commented.

"You're right about that. Run for it!" Seymour exclaimed, as the five of them ran away from the Onix as it gave chase.

"Are Onix always this temperamental?!" Lincoln screamed.

"Usually! Onix are solitary Pokemon that don't like trespassers, so they go on the attack whenever they get disturbed by something!" Brock screamed back, as they rounded a corner, only to find themselves at a dead end.

"Oh man, now what do we do?!" Misty exclaimed, as Onix had finally caught up to them. Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex, and pointed it at Onix.

"This male Onix is level 25," the Pokedex stated.

"Really? In that case, I can take it on," Raigo said, as he stepped forth. Onix roared again, this time summoning more Onix, as well as some Geodude, "Ok, that makes things a little tricky," he commented.

"We'll help out anyway we can," Brock said, as he sent out his own Onix.

"That's right! Alright, Staryu, Buizel, Poliwhirl, let's go!" Misty said, sending out her three Pokemon.

"I'll get in on this too. Riolu, Pidgeotto, Pikachu, time to battle!" Lincoln said, as his three Pokemon emerged from their Pokeballs. What he realized at the last second was that he mistakenly tossed both Ralts and Zubat's Pokeballs, sending them out too.

"Oh boy! Are we going to have a battle, Lincoln? Who do I get to fight?" Riolu excitedly asked.

"Boy, talk about energy," Pidgeotto commented.

"He is young, so just go with it," Pikachu replied.

"M-Mr. Lincoln, isn't this a little much for training?" Ralts asked timidly.

"And I'm still not fully recovered!" Zubat called out.

"Sorry, it was just the other three I wanted to battle," Lincoln said, as he reached for their Pokeballs, only for a roar from the Onix group to keep him from reaching them.

"I can handle battling the tougher ones. Skipper, Honda, Shroomer, to my side!" Raigo said, sending out his three Pokemon.

"My, what fascinating specimens of Pokemon you youngsters have!" Seymour commented, noting all the foreign Pokemon. The lead Onix fired off Dragon Breath at the group of Pokemon, who swiftly dodged.

"Ok, so that Onix knows Dragon Breath. Got to watch out for it. Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Riolu, Ralts, Zubat, focus your attention on the Geodude for now!" Lincoln instructed.

"Roger that!" Pikachu replied.

"Sure thing, Lincoln!" Riolu replied.

"O-Ok, I can do that," Ralts replied.

"I would like to heal up a little first, but if I must," Zubat replied.

"I would like to battle an Onix, but I can see that getting out of here takes priority," Pidgeotto commented.

"Alright, Pikachu, use Iron Tail! Pidgeotto, use Steel Wing! Riolu, use Vacuum Wave! Ralts, use Disarming Voice! And Zubat…!" Lincoln then realized he didn't know any of Zubat's moves. He then pulled out his Pokedex.

"This Male Zubat is Level 14, and knows the Moves Absorb, Bite, Wing Attack, Astonish, Supersonic, and the Egg Move Giga Drain," the Pokedex explained.

"What kind of moves are Absorb and Giga Drain?" Lincoln wondered.

"Information: Absorb: A Grass Type move that damages the opponent, while simultaneously healing the user by half of the damage dealt. Giga Drain: A Grass Type Move that is an even more powerful variant of Abosrb," the Pokedex explained.

"Ok, that works out perfectly! Zubat, use Absorb on one of the Geodude!" Lincoln instructed.

"Absorb? Well, that works just fine for me!" Zubat replied, as he swooped down at one of the Geodude, and bit down on it, sucking in some of it's energy, "Ah, just the kind of pick-me-up I needed!" he said, sounding refreshed.

"Good on you, because we need some backup!" Pikachu called out, as he swung his Iron Tail, smacking away some of the Geodude. Riolu and Pidgeotto were having the time of their lives, as the former fired bullets of compressed air at some more of the Geodude, while the latter smacked them away with Steel Wing. Ralts was the only one struggling a little, as her attack of an odd soundwave, while was dealing with the Geodude, was proving a little taxing.

"If you need to switch it up, Ralts, don't hesitate to use Confusion," Lincoln urged.

"O-Ok, my throat was starting to get a little sore anyway," Ralts replied, as she began to use a telekinetic power to hurl some incoming Geodude away.

"Skipper, use Water Gun! Shroomer, use Mach Punch! Honda, use Bulk Up, then into Arm Thurst!" Raigo instructed. Skipper fired Water Gun at one of the underling Onix, Shroomer unleashed Mach Punch onto another one, while Honda bulked up a bit, before it started shoving the lead Onix back.

"Onix, use Dragon Breath!" Brock instructed. His Onix fired Dragon Breath as a number of the Geodude that were surrounding it, "Great! Keep it up!"

"Alright, Staryu, Poliwhirl, Buizel, triple Water Pulse!" Misty instructed. Her three Water Pokemon all fired three consecutive Water Pulse attack, finishing off the last of the Geodude, "Ok, I think that was the last of them,"

"Then let's not waste any more time here! We should make our escape while their down!" Seymour suggested. The four trainers agreed, and recalled their Pokemon. Lincoln was about to recall Ralts, when the lead Onix bellowed again, slamming its body into the cave wall, sending rocks towards the travelers, namely Ralts.

"WATCH OUT, RALTS!" Lincoln called out, as he dived in to save his newly acquired Psychic Pokemon, taking the rock to the head, as he scooped up Ralts in an effort to protect her. Lincoln was beginning to lose consciousness, but the last thing he saw was a man with green hair, and a pink Pokemon, calling to the others, urging them to follow them out of the cave.

Lincoln's Room(?)

"Oh man, my head is pounding!" Lincoln commented, as he sat up. Upon opening his eyes, he was met with a sight he thought he'd never see again. He was inside of his bedroom, "Huh? It's my room? But I could've sworn I was on Mount Moon," he commented, as he got out of his bed, and exited his room, "How did I wind up back home?"

"Morning, Lincoln!" he was greeted by Lana, accompanied by Lola, "You sure slept in pretty late today."

"Well, it was the first time in a while he's been allowed to sleep in his own bed, Lana," Lola replied.

"Wait, what is going on?" Lincoln asked, sounding really confused.

"You feeling alright, Lincoln? You're acting a little strangely," Lola commented.

"He must still be groggy. Maybe a stack of pancakes will wake him up. After all, today is his day," Lana replied.

"My day? What do you mean?" Lincoln asked.

"Are you telling me you've forgotten already? We're doing everything we can today to make up for all the mistreatment you endured last week!" Lola explained, as she and her twin took his hands, and led him downstairs, where the rest of his sisters were waiting on the couch.

"Well, looks who's finally up," Luna commented, upon seeing Lincoln.

"Can anyone refresh my memory on what's going on?" Lincoln asked, playing along.

"Today's all about you, little brother. We're making amends for what we did to you in the whole bad luck mess," Luan replied.

"Yeah, we never meant to become hippos," Leni added.

"That's 'hypocrite', Leni," Lisa clarified. Lynn approached Lincoln, a somber look on her face.

"Lincoln… about what I did, and how I treated you like a curse… I want to say that I'm sorry. It turns out the Lions cheated that day, so you never actually jinxed my game. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?" she asked sincerely.

"Uh… sure thing," Lincoln was more confused than ever. He was sure he was in Kanto.

"By the way, bro, Dad made five of these, just for you!" Lori said, as she walked out with a brown nugget the size of a basketball that Lincoln immediately recognized, "There's four more in the kitchen." Lincoln no longer cared if this was just a dream, he would never say "no" to a mac-and-cheese bite.

At a camp, somewhere on Mount Moon,

"Mmm, mac and cheese bits," Lincoln said in his sleep, as he started chewing on the pillow he was resting on. Brock, Misty, and Pikachu were trying their hardest not to laugh at the sight.

"Must be a nice dream he's having, eh Brock?" Misty asked.

"Must be, but what in the world is a mac and cheese bite?" Brock questioned.

"Who knows? Anyhow, should we wake him up?" Misty asked.

"Probably a good idea," Brock replied.

"Pikachu, would you do the honors?" Misty asked.

"Sure thing," Pikachu replied, as he let out a weak electrical shock into Lincoln's foot, causing him to sit up, yelping in pain.

"Yow! What was that for?!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he rubbed his foot. He then took notice that they were in a tent, "Wait, weren't we just in a cave?"

"Yeah, but after that rock to the head knocked you out, a man named 'Bill' found us and brought us to safety, where we set up camp for the night, and placed you inside the tent so you can recover," Brock replied. Lincoln took a moment to recollect his thoughts before he blacked out, when he realized something.

"Wait, where's Ralts?!" Lincoln exclaimed, realizing he wasn't able to recall Ralts in time.

"Don't worry. We took the liberty of recalling her to her Pokeball while you were out," Misty reassured.

"Ok, that's good to hear. So, what about this 'Bill' guy?" Lincoln asked.

"He's outside talking to Seymour. Raigo's outside as well," Brock replied. Lincoln then got out of the cot he was sleeping on, and the three of them exited the tent. Upon exiting, Lincoln saw Seymour talking to the green haired man he saw before blacking out. Nearby, Raigo was sitting up against a boulder.

"Is that Bill?" Lincoln asked.

"Yes. He helped us out in finding this place and patching you up," Brock replied, as he called out to the two of them, "Hey Seymour! Lincoln's finally awake!" catching the attention of both men. Raigo also got up and walked over to them.

"Ah, good! I was worried there for a second. How are you feeling?" Seymour asked the young American.

"Still a bit groggy from getting knocked out, but otherwise, I'm fine," Lincoln replied, before turning to the green haired man, "So, you're Bill I take it?"

"Indeed I am. I heard quite a bit about you from my colleague, Professor Oak. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Lincoln," Bill replied, shaking hands with Lincoln.

"It's nice to meet you too. So, I'm guessing you must be a trainer?" Lincoln asked.

"Well, how can I put this? I do have a team of Pokemon by my side, but I'm actually more interested in learning about Pokemon, rather than battling with them," Bill replied.

"Ah, so you're a researcher, just like Professor Oak," Lincoln replied.

"Precisely. Although, my research isn't as officially recognized as the Professor's, but it's still quite the bit of research. That being said, I am famous around the Kanto region for another reason."

"You see, Bill here is responsible for developing the Pokemon Storage and Transporter System," Seymour explained.

"Wait, YOU built the system?!" Misty exclaimed.

"Well, yes, but it's not that big of a deal," Bill replied modestly.

"Not a big deal my foot! It's the most important invention in the history of everything relating to Pokemon!" Misty exclaimed.

"Would you say that you share Misty's sentiments on my system, Brock?" Bill asked.

"Of course! Without it, we wouldn't be able to put Pokemon into storage or send them across long distances," Brock replied.

"And what about the two of you?" Bill asked Raigo and Lincoln.

"Naturally! I love being able to swap out the Pokemon I have back home in Lavaridge Town," Raigo replied.

"And I like using it too. Although…" Lincoln commented.

"Although?" Bill parroted, curious as to Lincoln's criticism.

"It seems a little inconvenient to only be able to use the system at the Pokemon Center," Lincoln replied. Bill only laughed.

"Well, you'll be happy to know that I'm in the process of developing a new subsystem for Pokedex, that can allow for trainers to swap Pokemon out from their storage boxes, even when they're not at the Pokemon Center," Bill replied.

"Wait, is that really true?" Raigo asked.

"Indeed. Several of my colleagues from around the world are currently working on trying to develop this Pokemon Box Link. There are still a few kinks to work out, but when it's up and operational, all compatible Pokedexes can have it added to their systems," Bill replied.

"Wow, that'll be more than handy," Brock commented.

"Indeed. So, what brings you to Mount Moon, Bill?" Lincoln asked.

"Well, I was originally coming here to visit some friends of mine, when I ran into you lot. While you were unconscious, Seymour filled me in on the lights that were set up inside the caves, so I thought I might help with the investigation," Bill replied.

"What kind of friends?" Raigo asked.

"See for yourself," Bill said, pointing to a clearing. As if on cue, a harmonious song echoed through the area, and several pink Pokemon with brown tipped ears emerged from hiding.

"Whoa, those are Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable!" Misty exclaimed.

"I've never seen so many in one place!" Raigo commented. Lincoln pulled out his Pokedex.

"Cleffa, the Star Shape Pokemon, a Fairy Type. According to local rumors, Cleffa are often seen in places where shooting stars land. This female Cleffa is level 5, and knows the moves Pound, Splash, Copycat, Metronome, and Sing.

Clefairy, the Fairy Pokemon, a Fairy Type, and the evolved form of Cleffa. It is said that happiness will come to those who see Clefairy dancing under the Full Moon. This Male Clefairy is Level 21, and knows the moves Metronome, Sing, Pound, and Double Slap.

Clefable, the Fairy Pokemon, a Fairy Type, and the evolved form of Clefairy. Because it's hearing is so acute as to hear a pin drop from a mile away, it prefers to live on quiet mountains. This Female Clefable is level 34, and knows the moves Metronome, Minimize, Double Slap, Disarming Voice, Sing, and Wake Up Slap," his Pokedex explained.

"Could these be the rare Pokemon that shop keeper in Pewter City told us about?" Lincoln asked.

"Most likely," Brock replied. Upon noticing Bill, all of the Fairy Type Pokemon happily rushed over.

"I'm just as glad to see all of you as well," Bill happily greeted. The other five humans then noticed a particular Clefable that was noticeably larger than the rest of the colony, and had green tipped ears.

"Whoa, is that what I think it is?" Misty questioned, unable to believe what she was seeing.

"If you're referring to that Shiny Celfable, then you're not imagining it, because I see it too!" Raigo replied.

"And judging by the size, that Clefable must be the leader of the colony," Seymour theorized.

"Well, let's have a look," Lincoln said, as he pointed his Pokedex at the massive Clefable, "Says here it's Level 55, so it must be the leader."

Upon noticing the new humans, the Shiny Clefable turned to Bill, "Friend Bill, who are these humans?"

"Ah, you needn't worry. These are friends," Bill replied.

"Wait, are you able to understand what Pokemon are saying too?" Lincoln asked. Bill and Seymour looked very surprised by the question.

"Well, it's more like I can sense what they're feeling, based on gestures," Bill replied.

"What do you mean 'able to understand what Pokemon are saying too'?" Seymour asked.

"It's kind of a long story, but to make it quick, Professor Oak told me it could be because of this," Lincoln said, as he showed both scientists the Rainbow Wing. Needless to say, the two of them were shocked.

"Why, that's a Rainbow Wing!" Seymour exclaimed.

"That's not something just anyone can possess. Where did you find it?" Bill asked. Lincoln explained everything, how he encountered Ho-Oh before he set out on his journey, "My word, one can never be lucky enough to encounter a Legendary Pokemon like Ho-Oh BEFORE starting their journey!"

"Yeah, but ever since I got this thing, I've been able to understand what Pokemon say," Lincoln replied, as he put the Rainbow Wing away. One Clefairy, who also had noticeably green tipped ears, looked up at Lincoln.

"Hey, aren't you that human that got knocked out by that rock earlier?"

"Ugh, don't remind me. My head still hurts from the impact," Lincoln replied, rubbing his head, before realizing something based on what this Clefairy had just said, "Wait, could you be the same Clefairy that I saw before passing out?"

"Indeed, I am! When I saw you and your friends being chased by that Onix, I rushed off to try and find help. Wish I could've gotten help a lot sooner," the Clefairy replied.

"Well, the point is you got me some help. I'm just glad it wasn't something life threatening. So, for that, I thank you," Lincoln said, giving the Clefairy a slight hug.

"Hehe, that tickles!" the Clefairy giggled. Taking this as their cue, Misty, Brock, Raigo, and Seymour all began to socialize with the rest of the colony, becoming quick friends with them. The Head Clefable looked on with interest, before walking over to Lincoln.

"From what I've seen, it would appear that my colony has accepted you and your companions as friends. If it is alright, I would like you and your friends to accompany my colony to our Evolution Ceremony," the Head Clefable said with a smile.

"An Evolution Ceremony? What's that?" Lincoln asked.

"From what I understand, their Evolution Ceremony is held whenever the Clefairy in the colony reach a certain age or level, which is meant to help them evolve into Clefable. It's sort of like a coming-of-age ritual for them, and one that has never been seen by human eyes," Bill explained.

"That sounds like a real experience!" Misty exclaimed.

"I would love to see that for myself!" Brock added.

"The same goes for me!" Raigo added.

"To bear witness to something like this would be a once in a life time opportunity," Seymour added.

"Then I guess it's unanimous. We would be honored to accompany you and your colony to the Evolution Ceremony," Lincoln said to the Head Clefable.

"How splendid! If you'll just follow me, I'll lead you to our most sacred grounds," the Head Clefable said, as he led his colony from the clearing and to a cave entrance, followed closely by Lincoln and company. However, none of them realized that they were being watched by those with nefarious intentions.

On a cliff overlooking the clearing, a group of five people in matching black uniforms with a big red "R" on their chests, "Did you see how many Clefairy were down there?! There had to be no less than 20 of them!" one of them said.

"Not to mention Cleffa and Clefable. The Boss will be most happy if we can catch enough of them," another grunt said.

"Focus guys. Our objective is the Moon Stone. If we have time, we can try catching as many of those Pokemon as we can," the only woman among them said.

"She's right. There were six people down there with them. We have to make sure they don't get in the way," a third grunt said.

"Well, we can cross that bridge when we get there. For now, let's just follow that colony," the woman said.

"But why do that? What do they have to do with the Moon Stone?" the fourth grunt asked.

"Don't you ever use any of the technological archives back at HQ? Clefairy evolve into Clefable with a Moon Stone, ergo, they must be headed towards somewhere that has a ton of them," the woman said in a condescending tone. None of her teammates took kindly to her tone, but kept their complaints in check, "Now then, move out!"

"ROGER!" the four grunts said, as they followed closely after the colony.

Inside a Cave,

"So, Bill, is there a reason for these headband things?" Lincoln asked, as they were all being led by the colony towards the Ceremonial Grounds. They were all wearing headbands that looked to have been made from feathers of some kind.

"From what I understand, the colony usually wear these types of head ornaments during their Evolution Ceremony. The reason we're wearing them is to follow said customs," Bill explained.

"I see. So basically, while in Rome, do as the Romans do," Lincoln replied.

"Precisely. I must say that I'm impressed that you know of such a saying," Bill commented.

"Something I picked up from one of my sisters," Lincoln replied.

"So, Bill, have you been to these Ceremonial Grounds before?" Raigo asked.

"Yes, I have. You should all feel very lucky for being allowed to see it, since they are very sacred grounds to the colony," Bill replied, as they came to a stop in a large den, "Speaking of which, we have arrived."

"Whoa," was all Lincoln could utter at the sight he and the others were beholding. In the middle of a large clearing, surrounded by trees sat a massive glowing rock. The azure light from the stone was causing a nearby lake to shimmer slightly, adding to the mystique.

"It's simply breathtaking!" Seymour said in awe.

"Like something out of a fantasy story," Brock commented.

"Indeed, it is. I had a very similar reaction when I was brought here for the first time," Bill replied.

"That big rock in the center there, could that be…?"

"Yes Lincoln, that is the very meteor that crashed into this mountain in prehistoric times that has come to be known as the Moon Stone," Bill replied.

"Wow. So, is there a reason it's glowing like that?" Lincoln asked.

"If there is, I'm afraid I haven't a clue. All I do know is that the Moon Stone is very sacred to them and their Evolution Ceremony, and must NEVER be removed from this location," Bill replied.

"That I can understand," Lincoln replied, as several members of the Colony were preparing for the ceremony.

In the bushes nearby,

"Just as I figured, following them led us right to our prize! Now all we need to do is take care of those Fairy Pokemon and those pesky trainers, and haul that big rock out of here," the green haired woman said, eying the massive rock with evil intent.

"But how do we do that? If you haven't noticed by now, that rock is freaking huge! We'll get a hernia if we try moving it!" one of the other grunts exclaimed.

The woman only glared at the grunt in annoyance, before turning her attention back to the colony, reaching for the Pokeballs on her belt, "We can figure that out once we've dealt with those pests. Now come on! We have work to do!" the other four grunts smiled maliciously, as they reached for their own Pokeballs.

Back with Lincoln and company,

"Hey guys, can any of you tell me what 'Egg Moves' are? I've been hearing a lot of them form the Pokemon I scan," Lincoln asked.

"Certainly. You see, Egg Moves are moves that Pokemon can learn from breeding that they would not be normally able to learn while leveling up," Bill explained.

"If you have two Pokemon of the opposite gender to one another that belong to the same Egg Group, you can breed them for an Egg that will hatching into the basest form of whatever Pokemon the mother is," Brock added.

"It's true. In fact, Skipper here knows the Egg Move Ice Ball, which is picked up from his Dad, a Walrein my sister was raising," Raigo said.

"I see. So, if I wanted to breed for a Pokemon Egg, I need to make sure both parent Pokemon belong to the same Egg Group, is that right?" Lincoln asked.

"Correct. For example, Pikachu here belongs to the Field and Fairy Egg Groups, so you would need a female Pokemon from one of the two Egg Groups," Seymour explained.

"And in Pikachu's case, if you leave it at a Breeding Center while holding an Item called the 'Light Ball', the Pichu that hatches from the Egg will know the move Volt Tackle,"

"Just don't go leaving me to make Eggs with another Pokemon just yet. I'm not exactly ready to be a father," Pikachu quickly stated.

"Duly noted, Pikachu," Lincoln replied.

"I'm guessing Pikachu was saying something like 'I'm not ready to be a father, so don't breed me with another Pokemon,' right?" Misty asked.

"Pretty much," Lincoln replied. Just then, Pikachu stated sniffing the air, and immediately took an offensive stance, "Something wrong, Pikachu?"

"I'm smelling something that's shouldn't be there. We might have some unwanted company, so tell the others to get ready," Pikachu replied.

"Guys, Pikachu says that we may have unwanted company, so we need to get ready," Lincoln warned in a hushed tone. They did so, as the green haired woman and her lackeys emerged from behind the bushes.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? An entire colony of Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable, as well as the Moon Stone to boot. Glad to see that the old legends weren't just stories," she said in a mocking tone, as they approached. Upon seeing the red "R" on their uniforms, Lincoln realized something about them.

"I take it you guys are with Team Rocket?" he questioned.

"Indeed, we are. But unlike those two bumbling morons and their stupid cat, we're actually dangerous," the green haired woman replied, before recognizing his face, "Oh! You must be that American trainer that thwarted their Viridian City heist! Well, don't expect the same kind of luck you had then to help you out now!"

"But it's your lucky day, brat! We're only here for the Moon Stone, so you, your friends, and those little pixie puffballs are getting off easy!" one of the other grunts stated.

"Wait, you're just here for the Moon Stone?" Lincoln asked incredulously.

"Of course. We've been setting up all those lights in the caves all morning trying to find the damn thing, but we still came up short," another grunt replied.

"Wait, you're saying that you put up all those lights? Do you have any idea how negatively they've been affecting the Pokemon in the area?" Seymour questioned.

"Bub, we don't care what happens to Pokemon, as long as we get what we want. As such, we're offering you one of two ways this can go down. On one hand, you can all stand aside and let us take the Moon Stone without any sort of conflict, or we trounce you and take it anyway. Either way, we win," the green haired woman said.

"I'll go with option C: We fight against you punks and drive you out of Mount Moon!" Lincoln proclaimed.

"If that's the way you want to play it, then so be it," the black clad woman said, as she and her cohorts tossed their Pokeballs, releasing several Zubat, Ekans, Koffing, Rattata, Sandshrew, and some purple sludge Pokemon.

"What's that thing?" Lincoln questioned, pointing his Pokedex at the new Pokemon.

"Grimer, the Sludge Pokemon, a Poison Type. Grimer came into being when sludge was transformed from X Rays from the moon. It feeds on sewage, and it's footprints are so filthy, that not even weeds grow back from where Grimer walks," his Pokedex explained.

'Sounds like something that even Lana could have difficulty liking,' Lincoln thought to himself, as he and his friends readied their Pokeballs, only to be stopped by the Head Clefable.

"Please, you mustn't trouble yourselves with these intruders. As our guests, we ask that you leave this to us."

"Are you sure? We can help out, if need be," Lincoln offered.

"Your offer is very much appreciated, but we have more than enough firepower to drive off these intruders," the Head Clefable replied.

"Well, if you're sure," Lincoln replied, as he put away his Pokeball.

"Is something wrong, Lincoln?" Raigo asked.

"The Head Clefable wants us to leave Team Rocket to them," Lincoln replied. No sooner than he said that, the entire colony raised their arms, and starting waving their fingers back and forth.

"What are these pixies doing now?" one of the grunts questioned.

"It's their Metronome Attack!" Seymour exclaimed.

"'Metronome'?" Lincoln asked.

"Information: Metronome: A Normal Type move that turns into a random move," his Pokedex explained, as the colony let out a cry, while surrounded by a white aura.

"Is that all? We were all worried for nothing! Now let's get moving boys!" the green haired woman ordered. However, the entire colony began firing off different moves left and right, including streams of fire, electric bolts, a tornado of leaves, an orange-colored beam of energy, a ball of orange energy that was fired into the air only to burst into many smaller projectiles, and shadowy balls of dark aura, which were only some of the noticeable moves that were fired off. For some reason, one Clefairy was still glowing white, as it ran up towards the Rockets and their Pokemon, as the white light around was glowing brighter, "Oh shi-!" was all she was able to utter, before the attacks converged into one spot, causing a tremendous explosion that sent the Rocket Grunts flying through the cave walls and through the sky, screaming at the top of their lungs. Lincoln, Misty, Brock, Raigo and Seymour only stared at the destruction the Colony wrought with their combined attacks, ever thankful for not being on the receiving end of them. In the middle of the massive crater, the one Clefairy that had charged at Team Rocket was lying unconscious.

"Oh my, it would appear that Clefairy got Self-Destruct," the Head Clefable commented, as some of the other Clefairy went to retrieve their friend, "Don't worry about this mess. We'll fill in the crater at a later time. For now, we shall resume our preparations for the Ceremony. It is almost midnight, which is when we always perform it," he said, as the Colony got back to their work. While they continued preparing, Lincoln brought out his Zubat in a bid to try to get to know him better.

"If I may ask, what made you want to catch me earlier? Most trainers just ignore my species and spray something awful smelling over them to keep us away. I think it's called 'Repel' or something like that."

"You remind me a lot of one of my little sisters back home, on account that she likes dark places and also likes bats. I would think she'd like to meet a Pokemon like you. Besides, I want to give each Pokemon I catch on my journey a chance," Lincoln explained.

"A girl that likes dark places and bats? Sounds like someone I would love to meet!"

"And I'm sure she'd love meeting you. Another of my little sisters, the genius of the family is working on a transporter machine so that I can send Pokemon back home to the States, just so she can observe them, not to mention disprove what one of my older sisters says about Pokemon," Lincoln replied.

"What did your older sister say?" Zubat asked.

"According to the genius sister, she says that Pokemon can't possibly be real, and are just a hoax I cooked up with Professor Oak to teach my family a lesson about what they did to me before I came to Kanto," Lincoln explained. His conversation didn't go unheard by Misty, Brock, or Raigo.

"I'm guessing they did something bad?" Zubat asked.

"Not just bad, but incredibly stupid as well. I'll explain it to you and the others later, just to save Lincoln some heartache," Pikachu said.

"Thanks buddy, I appreciate that," Lincoln said, before turning his attention back to Zubat, "So, you're not upset with my catching you, right?"

"Are you kidding? I'm over the moon about being caught by a Trainer who doesn't use that nasty Repel stuff. That, along with just completely ignoring my kind is enough to drive anyone in my colony batty! Eh, no pun intended, mind you," Zubat said, realizing his unintentional pun.

"Thank goodness. I have another older sister who loves making puns that aren't too clever, and I think I can do without anymore for this trip," Lincoln replied in relief. It was then that he noticed the Head Clefable walking towards them with a leaf, containing six lustrous black-colored rocks.

"It is time to commence the Ceremony. I ask that each of you take one of these shards from the Moon Stone," he said.

"Uh, ok," Lincoln said, as he took the first Moon Stone. The others took one each.

"These are crucial to the ceremony, so please be sure not to lose them," the Head Clefable requested.

"We won't. Thank you for letting us be a part of your ritual," Lincoln said, taking a moment to recall Zubat, "By the way, are these really shards of the Moon Stone?"

"Of course, young man. In order to evolve, Clefairy needs to come into direct contact with the Moon Stone. Our role in the ceremony is to give each of the evolving Clefairy our blessings," Bill replied.

"Sounds simple enough. Just use the Moon Stones to evolve the Clefairy," Raigo commented.

"Indeed. Now quiet down for now. The ritual is about to begin," Bill replied.

"Greetings, fellow Pokemon and Human friends. Tonight, we hold our Evolution Ceremony, which these six humans have agreed to aid us in performing! Alongside them are these six brave souls who will undergo the ritual proceedings!" the Head Clefable said, motioning to six Clefairy, each of whom had looks of pride on their faces. The Head Clefable turned to the humans, "Now then, human friends, come forth, and offer your blessings to these six brave souls."

"Ok, so how does this work, exactly?" Lincoln asked, as they were approached by the six Clefairy, who bowed their heads respectfully.

"Just follow my lead," Bill said, as he tapped one Clefairy with his Moon Stone, causing it to evolve into Clefable, "I offer up my blessings."

Misty, Brock, Raigo, and Seymour followed Bill's example, and did the same to their Clefairy. Lincoln was getting ready to do the same, when he noticed the Clefairy he was paired up with was the same green tipped ear Clefairy, "Well, isn't this a nice surprise?" he asked.

"Indeed, Friend Lincoln. I am ready to receive your blessings," the Clefairy said.

"And you shall receive my blessings right now," Lincoln replied, as he tapped the Clefairy, evolving it into Clefable.

"Our human friends have given their blessings! Now we must commence with the second part of our ritual – we shall now show our gratitude to the Moon Stone, for without it, we cannot evolve!" the Head Clefable said, before turning to the humans, "You may keep the shards of the Moon Stone if you wish. Once used, they can never evolve another Pokemon."

"Oh, well, that's really nice of you. Thank you," Lincoln said, as he put the Moon Stone into his bag, "So, is there anything else we need to do for your Ceremony?"

"No. Your part in our Ceremony has been accomplished. You are, however, welcome to join in our ritualistic dance," the head Clefable offered.

"Eh, thanks, but I think I'll pass on that. It's getting late, and I would like to get some sleep," Lincoln replied, politely declining the offer.

"Suit yourself. I wish you and your friends a good night," the Head Clefable said, before going to join in the dancing.

"Well, lets get back to camp. I could go for some shut eye," Raigo commented.

"Wait, we're camping outside tonight?" Lincoln asked.

"Why wouldn't we? It's a perfectly clear night, and we have a beautiful view of the stars," Seymour replied, looking up and out of the opening in the ceiling.

"I guess you have a point, but I just hoped I wouldn't have to sleep outside again," Lincoln replied. That one comment spiked some concern in his friends.

"Well, you'll at least be sleeping in a tent, which is some kind of shelter," Bill replied, as they ventured back through the caves. As they left, the shiny Clefable that Lincoln had evolved, as well as two Cleffa and Clefairy watched them leave.

"Man, they sure are lucky, being able to travel around," one of the Clefairy commented.

"I'd like to be able to see more of the World, maybe through that 'Wonder Trade' thing I heard about," one of the Cleffa added.

"I know what you guys mean. I wish we could go with Friend Lincoln," Clefable replied.

"Then why don't you?" the five of them jumped, as the Head Clefable was looking down at them.

"L-Leader!? When did you get here?!" the other Clefairy exclaimed.

"There's no need for alarm. I heard what you were all saying about traveling around the world, despite knowing the dangers that lurk out there," the Head Clefable stated.

"We do know of the dangers, Leader, and we love living on the mountain, but training along side Friend Lincoln would be an absolute ball for us!" the other Cleffa stated.

"And we would like to see the world beyond Kanto," the second Clefairy added.

"If that is how you all feel, then you have my blessings to do so," the Head Clefable replied. The five of them couldn't believe what they were hearing.

"Really?! You're giving us permission?!" the shiny Clefable exclaimed.

"Indeed. But always remember that Mount Moon will forever be your home," the Head Clefable replied.

"Thank you, leader! We will forever be grateful!" the second Cleffa exclaimed, as they went to join the rest of the colony in their dance. The Head Clefable could only chuckle, as he too joined in.

The Next Morning, at the Campsite,

Lincoln was the first to wake up, and quietly exited the tent, as not to disturb Misty, Brock, or Raigo, who were all still sound asleep. However, upon leaving the tent, he saw that neither Bill nor Seymour was to be found, "Huh, wonder where they went?" Lincoln questioned, before noticing a note taped to the front of the tent.

To Lincoln, Misty, Brock, and Raigo,

If you are reading this, then I have left for my lighthouse on Cerulean Cape. I would've like to have said goodbye, but I needed to return home to write out my report. In any case, it was a privilege and an honor to meet such promising Trainers such as yourselves. Come by my lighthouse sometime, and we have a nice visit.

Yours Truly, Bill.

P.S., Seymour wanted to say goodbye too, but he wanted to get a start on taking down all of the lights Team Rocket had put up, and will return to his lab once he's done.

"So, they've already left. We should do the same. I just need to wait for the others to wake up before heading out to Cerulean City," Lincoln commented, as he retrieved his bag from inside the tent, and sat on a stump, waiting for his friends to get up. As he did, he heard a familiar voice calling out.

"Friend Lincoln! There you are! We've been looking around for you all morning!" he turned to see the shiny Clefable he had evolved the night prior, along with two Cleffa and Clefairy, along with a Sandshrew.

"Wait up guys! I'm not as fast as you guys are with all that bouncing you're doing!" the Sandshrew exclaimed, as it was trailing behind them. Eventually, they had all stopped in front of the white-haired boy.

"Hey guys, what brings you here? Come to see us off before we leave?" Lincoln asked.

"Not quite. We all want to join you on your journey," one of the Cleffa replied.

"Wait, really?" Lincoln sounded very surprised by this.

"Of course. After all, you were kind enough to give me some water back in that cave, and I had a pretty good idea on what you were trying to ask me then," Sandshrew replied.

"And each of us want to see the world beyond Mount Moon. The three of us will join you on your journey, but these two want to engage in that 'Wonder Trading' we've heard traveling humans talk about when passing through," Clefable added, motioning to the two Fairy Pokemon who want to be Wonder Traded.

"Well, in that case, welcome to the team you guys. Before we begin," Lincoln said, as he fished out six Pokeballs, including the three Moon Balls he got from Pewter City, "Alright, the Cleffa and Clefairy who want to stay with me will be caught in these Moon Balls, while the other two will be caught in regular Pokeballs. That sound fair?" Lincoln asked. The Fairy Pokemon nodded, "Alrighty then!" Lincoln said, as he tossed the three Moon Balls, encapsulating the three Pokemon wanting to stay with him. They rocked back and forth a few times before clicking. He repeated the same process with Sandshrew and the other Cleffa and Clefairy, all three of whom allowed the capture process to finish.

"Would you like to add any of the Pokemon you just caught to your team?" his Pokedex asked.

"Not right at the moment," Lincoln replied, as all six Pokeballs vanished in a flash of white light. No sooner than they did, Misty, Brock and Raigo got up.

"What's with all the noise?" Misty yawned.

"Just caught some Pokemon," Lincoln simply replied.

"This early in the morning?" Raigo asked.

"So, what did you catch?" Misty asked.

"See for yourself," Lincoln replied, showing them his Pokedex, which had the entire Clefairy line registered as caught.

"No way! You actually caught the entire Clefairy line?!" Misty exclaimed, shocked at what she was witnessing.

"And a Sandshrew. And not only that, but also that same shiny Clefable that I had evolved last night," Lincoln added.

"Man, you have to be the luckiest guy I've ever met!" Raigo commented.

"I should start having more faith in what you have your mind set on. And it looks like that shop keeper's map was spot on. Which means…" Misty commented, as she dug out a blue colored stone from her bag, "It's time for me to use this!"

"Wait, is that a Water Stone?" Brock asked.

"Yep! I've been after one for a long time. I want to evolve my Poliwhirl into Poliwrath," Misty replied, as she sent out her Poliwhirl, "Alright Poliwhirl, are you ready to evolve?" she asked. She then tapped the Water Stone onto Poliwhirl, only for nothing to happen, "Wait, what's going on? He said that- Oh, that lousy no-good con-artist!" she growled in rage.

"No-good con-artist?" Brock asked, before realizing something, "You bought that stone from the shop in Pewter City, didn't you?" he asked.

"Yes! He said it was a legitimate article! I can't believe he swindled me out of 5000 Pokedollars!" Misty exclaimed in anger. Lincoln and Raigo were on the ground, howling in laughter.

"You actually let yourself get cheated out of 5000 Pokedollars?!" Lincoln asked before laughing once again.

"SHUT UP YOU LITTLE BRATS! AND STOP LAUGHING!" Misty ordered, before grimacing, "Ugh, this just isn't my morning."

Later that morning, at a fork in the road,

The four friends had descended the mountain, and were on the road again. Before leaving, Lincoln had managed to catch a single Paras, and Brock had caught two more Geodude, each of whom was less than thrilled about being captured. Eventually, they came upon a fork in the road. There, they saw a sign that had two arrows pointing in opposite directions. The arrow pointing to the left said "To Cerulean City", while the arrow pointing to the right said "To Vermillion City," "Well guys, I guess this is where I head off on my own," Raigo commented.

"Wait, you're really leaving?" Lincoln asked.

"Yep. Now that you've earned yourself a Gym Badge, my obligation to helping you out is complete. From here on out, you and I are officially Rivals," Raigo replied.

"I see. Will we see you again?" Lincoln asked.

"Most likely we will. And when we do, lets battle for real," Raigo declared.

"It's a deal!" Lincoln said, as they went their separate ways from Raigo.

"So, your next gym battle will be coming up in Cerulean City," Misty commented.

"Yep. And I'm ready to take on whoever I face," Lincoln declared.

"Well, aren't we confident. I assume you have some kind of plan in place?" Misty asked.

"I do, but I'm keeping the specifics to myself," Lincoln replied with a sly smile.

"Aw, come on! Give me a little hint!" Misty pleaded.

"Nope! You're just going to have to wait. Now let's keep moving. I would like to have my second badge by the day's end," Lincoln replied, as they continued forward to Cerulean City.

Ok guys, in the next chapter, either before or after Lincoln takes on Misty for the Cascade Badge, I plan on having him and Brock do some Wonder Trading. I already have the three Pokemon Lincoln will receive in mind, but I'd like to hear what you want Brock to receive. The person who answers the following question correctly will decide on what Pokemon Brock gets. And please keep in mind that whatever Pokemon he receives do not have to be Rock Types, so any one is ok. Without further ado, here's the question
