Kanto Gets Loud

Chapter 32: Bill's Lighthouse (Part 1)

A few hours later,

Each of Lincoln's Pokemon, including Meowth, had just completed an intense training session, "Great work out there, guys," Lincoln commended.

"I'd much prefer getting into an actual scrap with someone, but practicing's good too," Meowth replied, sounding more relaxed than it was before.

"That's something that's been on my mind. Why did you attack our party?" Nana asked.

"Well, to tell you the truth, I've been sailing across the vast oceans for several months, looking for worthy opponents. My travels eventually led me the Alola region, where I hooked up with that other Meowth, who was just like me, wanting to get stronger. We duked it out, and eventually decided to help one another find worthy opponents, which we found in you lot," Meowth explained, pointing to Lincoln and his team.

"Well, if you train by our side, you're bound to find all kinds of strong opponents," Lincoln replied. Meowth took a moment to contemplate this.

"Hmm, it does make a bit more sense to travel a bit to get stronger, and going with you all does sound like a good idea. Very well. I'll join your team," Meowth proclaimed.

"Gee, modest much?" Aizami commented, somewhat irritated by Meowth's snobbish behavior.

"By the way Nana, do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?" Lincoln asked. Nana was taken aback, but retained her composure.

"Uh, sure. What do you want to know?" Nana asked.

"First up, it seems to me that you can talk to Pokemon the same way I can. Do you have a Rainbow Wing too?" Lincoln asked. Nana looked perplexed.

"A Rainbow Wing? What's that?" Nana asked. Lincoln then pulled out the pendant holding his Rainbow Wing, and showed it to Nana.

"This is a Rainbow Wing. I got it from a Legendary Pokemon called 'Ho-Oh' the day before I set out on my journey. A friend of mine, Professor Oak theorized that it gives me the ability to understand what Pokemon are saying," Lincoln explained.

"Oh, it is pretty and all, but I don't have anything like that. In fact, my ability to talk to animals is something I was born with," Nana replied. Now Lincoln was surprised, as were his Pokemon, apart from Meowth, who was looking around curiously.

"Really? That's something you don't hear every day. But anyhow, as for next question, what with those tails you and your sisters have?" Lincoln asked, pointing to Nana's tail.

"Oh that? Well, you seem like a trustworthy fella, so I'll give it to you straight; My sisters and I are not of Planet Earth," Nana replied.

"Wait, what?" Lincoln was not expecting that kind of an answer.

"The truth is, my sisters and I are the crown princesses of a far-off planet called 'Deviluke'. Our father, Gid Lucien Deviluke is a military man who united the entire universe when it was torn apart by war. In other words, our Daddy's the ruler of the entire universe," Nana explained.

"Is that so?" Lincoln asked. Something like that was a bit hard to believe, but Lincoln could tell that Nana was being honest, "So, when you say he rules the entire universe, does that include the Earth too?"

"Fortunately for you and the rest of this planet's inhabitants, he doesn't see a reason to even want to rule this planet. It is in one of the more remote parts of the universe," Nana replied.

"Boy howdy, my little sister, Lisa, is going to have kittens when she learns that we aren't alone in the universe, and that's to say nothing of how my friend, Zach, is going to react," Lincoln commented, somewhat overwhelmed at the thought of aliens being proven to exist. It was then that he realized something, "Wait, your father knows about this planet, right? Does he know the three of you living here too?"

"Well, ever since he learned that my big sister got engaged to an earthling, he wanted to see if Rito stacked up to meeting his expectations," Nana replied.

"Wait, he got engaged to your sister?" Lincoln asked.

"Yep. To be honest, I don't know what Lala, Momo, or any of the other girls over there see in him. He's not exactly the most outgoing person we've met. He's a complete beast, always going for boobs and panties," Nana replied, sounding quite irritated.

"Well, I'm sure they're just accidents, aren't they? He doesn't seem to be a malicious person. That Saruyama guy, maybe, but not Rito," Lincoln replied.

"Well, I suppose you do have a point there. Despite his perverted ways, Rito isn't actually a bad person," Nana admitted.

'Well, at least she doesn't seem to completely hate him,' Lincoln thought to himself.

"But now you know a little bit about me. Tell me about you," Nana requested. Lincoln tensed up a bit, but he then realized he didn't really have to tell her about the exact circumstances of him coming to Kanto.

"Well, as I said before, I came from Royal Woods, Michigan, in the U.S. I lived with my Mom, my Dad, and ten sisters, five of them being older, and five of them being younger," Lincoln replied.

"Ten sisters?!" Nana exclaimed. Aizami, Inferna, and Meowth were just as surprised.

"Yeah, and each of them have their own unique personalities, for better or for worse," Lincoln said with a slight tone of bitterness. Now, the four of them were concerned.

"Dare I ask if something happened?" Nana asked.

"Would it be alright if I didn't talk about it too much? The main reason for coming all the way out here was to get my mind off something that happened when I called home a few days ago," Lincoln asked.

"If it makes you feel better, then I won't press on the matter too much," Nana replied.

"Thanks. You have no idea how much that means to me," Lincoln replied. It was then that Nana noticed something peculiar about Inferna's behavior. She appeared to be trying to bite something.

"Is something up with Inferna?" Nana asked. Lincoln then took note of the behavior himself.

"I don't know. Inferna, is there something wrong?" Lincoln asked.

"I'm… trying… to learn… a new… move," Inferna replied in between air bites.

"A new move? What could it be?" Lincoln questioned, pulling out his Pokedex.

"Information: Inferna is attempting to learn the move 'Fire Fang'," Dexter explained.

"Fire Fang? That sounds awesome! What does it do exactly?" Lincoln asked.

"Information: Fire Fang: A Physical Fire Type move in which the user bites down on the opponent with flame covered fangs. This move can also cause the opponent to flinch or leave them with Burn Status," Dexter explained.

"That could come in handy. Wish I knew how I could help her master it," Lincoln commented.

"Well, maybe since fire needs an oxygen environment to burn, she should take in more oxygen," Nana theorized.

"You might be right. Alright Inferna, take in as much air as you can," Lincoln said.

"Alright then," Inferna replied, as she began to inhale a lot of air.

"Now, by the sounds of it, you should try to ignite your fangs," Lincoln theorized. Inferna then focused on her fangs. The others saw some sparks, but to no avail. Inferna fell on her backside, spent from trying to learn a new move, "Well, maybe Bill can give us some pointers. We should get up to the lighthouse soon," Lincoln said, noticing that it was getting late.

"Yeah, you're probably right. I'm beat from all the training we did," Inferna replied.

"Alright. Let's get back to the others and head on up," Lincoln said, recalling his Pokemon, leaving Pikachu outside.

"You're not recalling Pikachu to it's ball?" Nana asked.

"Nah. Pikachu hates going inside it's Pokeball," Lincoln replied.

"It's way too cramped in there!" Pikachu said.

"I see. Well, in any case, we should get back to the others," Nana replied. As she took a step back, she failed to notice a rock at her feet, causing her trip.

"Nana!" Lincoln went to the alien princess' aid, only for her to grab his shirt, and pull him down with her, "Well, that kind of backfired," he commented. It was then he realized his hands were on something flat with two slight bumps. Whatever he was touch also felt pretty warm too. He looked down, and his face paled when he saw that his hands were on Nana's chest, "Oh my god, I am so sorry Nana! I didn't mean to grope you like that!" he quickly apologized, pulling away.

"It was kind of my fault, pulling you down like that," Nana replied, equally as embarrassed, "Thank goodness Momo wasn't here to see that."

"Let me guess; She'd never let you hear the end of it about the two of us getting together?" Lincoln deduced.

"If only it were just that. And she thinks she's all that, just because she's got bigger boobs than I do!" Nana seethed.

"I don't see why you're getting so bent out of shape about boobs," Lincoln commented.

"Oh, what would you know? You have three busty women in your beach party," Nana snapped.

"Well, I will admit, I do find women with big boobs and big butts more attractive, I'm not shallow enough to only focus on a girl's physical appearance. The thing that hits it home for me in terms of a suitable romantic partner is someone who can offer support, and can reciprocate the same feelings of love that I share for them. So really, the very thought of simply focusing on a woman's physical appearance for romance is shameful for both the man AND the woman," Lincoln explained.

"Heh, Risa and Mio once told me that Rito said something similar to that," Nana replied, her tone indicating that she didn't believe a word Lincoln just said, but deep down, a small part of her was contemplating whether there was some truth to what Lincoln had said.

"My, my, what have we here?" Nana froze up upon hearing the familiar voice, "The two of you, out here all alone? How scandalous," Momo said, as she was walking towards them.

"Oh, hey Momo. We were just heading back," Lincoln replied.

"Oh good. I was coming to find you both, since your friends were getting ready to head up to the lighthouse," Momo replied.

"Oh good. C'mon Pikachu, lets get moving," Lincoln said, as he and Pikachu went on ahead, leaving the twins behind.

"Alright Momo, how much did you see and hear?" Nana questioned.

"Why Nana, whatever could you mean?" Momo asked, feigning innocence.

"Cut the crap! I know you well enough to know that must've seen and heard everything since Lincoln finished training," Nana accused.

"You mean when you dragged him down and he groped your washboard chest?" Momo asked. Nana's face flushed furiously.

"Keep my chest out of this!" Nana demanded, as she stormed off.

"That won't be too hard. Of course, if he manages to confess love for you, then you'll be in the same boat as our sister," Momo said mischievously, as she followed after her twin.

Later, at the Lighthouse,

Both beach parties had just arrived at Bill's Lighthouse, and they stood before a set of two, imposing doors, each one with an engraving of a different Pokemon, "Are those Pokemon on the door?" Lincoln questioned.

"Yes, indeed. Those three bird Pokemon are Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno, Legendary Pokemon that control the powers of fire, lightning, and ice, respectively," Joy replied, pointing to three engravings of bird Pokemon.

"And that one there is Arcanine, the evolved form of Growlithe," Jenny said, pointing to a picture of a dog like Pokemon that looked like a larger Growlithe.

"Awesome," Lincoln commented, as he looked to another tile, "What about that one?" he asked, pointing at the tile, which showed some sort of bipedal cat like Pokemon, with a long tail, and what appeared to be a tube attached to the back of its head.

"Hmm, sorry Lincoln, but I don't recognize that Pokemon," Joy replied.

"Nor I," Jenny added.

"It could some kind of undiscovered Pokemon that hasn't been officially documented yet," Brock added.

"Huh. Well, hopefully we can meet it someday," Lincoln replied.

"Maybe. But for now, let's go ahead and meet Bill," Misty suggested. Lincoln then rang the doorbell.

"Hello? Who's there?" Bill's voice said over the doorbell intercom.

"Hey there, Bill. It's us, Lincoln, Brock and Misty. We came over for a visit. And we have some guests with us as well," Lincoln replied.

"How splendid! I'd be delighted to have you as guests. Err, by the way, can Brock make anything that doesn't include tofu? I've been stuck eating nothing but tofu since my cook went on holiday, and I'm getting pretty sick of it," Bill asked.

"Sure, I can make plenty of stuff that doesn't involve tofu. How does a nice beef stew sound?" Brock suggested.

"Simply wonderful! Tofu is one of the few dishes that I know how to prepare properly myself. Just give me a moment and I'll let you in," Bill said over the intercom. In a moment, the doors began to open, revealing the dark interior. The large group then proceeded into the lighthouse.

Meanwhile, near the lighthouse,

"GrrraaaAAAAH! I'M SO BORED!" the lead grunt complained, as she was using one hand to hold the binoculars, while the other one was holding up her head. It was when she turned to the lighthouse that she noticed Lincoln and company entering, "Who lives in that lighthouse?"

Another grunt typed something in on a tablet device, "According to this, that lighthouse belongs to Bill."

"'Bill'? The Pokemon Maniac?" the lead grunt asked.

"According to this, it's the very same person. Why do you ask?"

"Well, an important researcher like him has to have loads of rare Pokemon for us to sell on the black market," the lead grunt said with malicious intent.

"I get it! And while we're at it, we can get payback on those brats, right?" the grunt asked.

"Precisely. Once we finish with recon, lets head up there and attack," the lead grunt replied.

"Speaking of which, when is our recon duty done?"

"Tomorrow morning. That'd be the best time to catch them off guard," the lead grunt replied, as they resumed their duties.

Meanwhile, back in the lighthouse,

The large group looked around aimlessly in the dark interior of the lighthouse, "Man, I can't even see my own hand in front of my own face," Lincoln commented.

"None of us can. Did your friend forget to pay the power bill?" Mikan asked.

"There has to be a light switch somewhere. Let's look around foooWHOA!" the sound of Rito tripping over something and crashing down on someone was then heard. Just then the lights came on. Rito saw that he had crashed down on Run, who didn't seem to mind too much.

"Why Rito, we really shouldn't do that here," Run said in a suggestive tone.

"YUUKI! RUN! That kind of salacious behavior will not be tolerated!" Yui chastised.

"Uh, guys?" Ren said, sounding uneasy. Everyone turned to him, and immediately their attention was drawn to the end of the room. There, in front of what they could describe as a throne, was a small, tyrannosaurus rex like Pokemon.

"It… it can't be! That's a Tyrunt! Why an extinct Pokemon from the Kalos region doing here?!" Brock questioned.

"An extinct Pokemon? Well, I can't pass up an opportunity like this. Ready Pikachu?" Lincoln asked.

"You bet!" Pikachu replied.

"No, no, wait! I'm not a Tyrunt!" everyone was very shocked to hear Bill's voice coming from Tyrunt.

"Wait, Bill?!" Misty exclaimed.

"Yes, that's right. And your timing couldn't be better. I'm kind of stuck inside this Tyrunt costume. Could someone help me out?" Lala then went up to assist.

"Ok, so, how do we take it off?" she asked.

"There should be a button underneath the jaw. These arms are far to short for me to reach properly. Pressing it will release the costume," Bill explained. Lala looked underneath the jaw, and found the button.

"Found it!" Lala said, as she pressed it. A blue light began to shine from the costume, as Lala went back to the group. A few seconds passed, and the stubby arms of the costume fell off, revealing human arms and hands. The tail fell off next, followed by the jaws, and eventually Bill was able to emerge from the costume.

"Thank you for getting me out of there. I've been stuck inside that costume for hours," Bill said.

"You're welcome!" Lala proclaimed.

"So, what's with the costume? Did you come back from a party or something?" Lincoln asked.

"Oh no, this costume isn't for a party. I was using it as part of my research," Bill replied.

"I think I see what you were trying to do, what, with the whole 'walking in someone else's shoes'," Mikado commented.

"Precisely," Bill replied, looking up at some of the tiles on his wall, causing the group to look at them as well, "See, there are many species of Pokemon that have been extinct for millions of years, so no one knows exactly how they behaved when they were still alive. My theory is that by dressing up as one of these Pokemon would help me to understand them better."

"Dressing up as a Pokemon to understand them? Methinks this guy has kind of gotten a little…" Pikachu then made a crazy gesture, "Since we last saw him."

Rather than acknowledge the Electric-Type, Lincoln focused on the tiles Bill was looking at. He recognized some of the Pokemon on the tiles from the time spent in Pewter City's Museum, like Kabuto, Omanyte, and Areodactyl, but the others he didn't recognize. These tiles included what looked like another t-rex like Pokemon with a spear like head, a dodo like Pokemon, and a sauropod Pokemon with sail like fins on it's back, "So, by wearing those costumes, you can understand what Pokemon behaved like in the past?"

"Yes, or rather, that's the very nature of my experiment," Bill replied, picking up the pieces of his Tyrunt costume. After putting the costume away, he turned back to his guests, "As you all probably know by now, our world was created more than 4.6 billion years ago. During that time, all manner of wildlife, both Pokemon and regular animals, have had their own unique way of living."

"So, how many species of Pokemon are there in the world?" Jenny asked.

"Well, from one of my latest study trips abroad, I've come to the conclusion that there exists more than 900 different species Pokemon currently recorded, including extinct evolutions," Bill replied.

"900?!" the large group exclaimed.

"Quite right," Bill replied, as he pulled out a remote, and, with the press of a button, several tiles began to light up around the room, "And there could be even more Pokemon that have yet to be discovered."

Lincoln looked awestruck, as he looked around at the tiles in the room, which had several Pokemon he hadn't seen before.

A large, green elephant Pokemon with a massive trunk.

A blue beetle like Pokemon with a massive horn.

A blue dragon Pokemon with large, red wings.

A turtle Pokemon whose shell looked something like a furnace.

A Pokemon that looked like a ghost emerging from a brown pumpkin.

A big, green dragonfly like Pokemon.

A beige colored hippo Pokemon with a massive mouth that looked to be swimming in sand.

"Over… 900 Pokemon," Lincoln was still trying to take in all that information, but was ultimately overwhelmed, as he fell to floor, unconscious.

"Oh dear. Seems such a revelation proved too much for the young lad," Bill commented, as Misty, Joy, and Jenny went to Lincoln's aid.

"Well, at least those three are devoted to him," Pikachu commented with an amused smirk. Moments later, Lincoln finally came to, and found himself resting on Jenny's lap.

"How are you feeling, Lincoln?" Joy asked.

"A little better, but that revelation kind of overwhelmed me, you know?" Lincoln replied.

"As I said, over 900 different species is just a placeholder number. There could be hundreds, maybe even more that we've never seen before," Bill explained.

"Boy, Lisa's going to have even more kittens when she learns about this. And as for Lana, I don't want to know how she'll react," Lincoln commented. Bill could only chuckle.

"Well, in any case, Pokemon Trainers, such as yourselves, all have an extraordinarily difficult, but rewarding task of discovering and catching Pokemon. Truly a challenging undertaking," Bill replied.

"Well, so far, I've only caught 25 different Pokemon, which includes those two different forms of Meowth and previous forms of my Pokemon that had evolved," Lincoln commented.

"That's actually a pretty decent start, Lincoln," Brock stated.

"He's right. You've been traveling for about a week, and you've already managed to collect two gym badges and catch 25 Pokemon. It's not uncommon for most trainers to catch only about 20 or thirty Pokemon. Only a small handful are ever able to make it up into the hundreds, and even then it's only because they catch duplicates," Misty added.

"Well, when you put it that way, I guess the progress I've made so far is something to be proud of," Lincoln replied.

"Quite right. And the continuing search for new Pokemon species' is a never-ending task that every trainer strives to accomplish. There's always something new for us to discover, whether it's in our lives or in ourselves," Bill explained.

"'Something new to discover'?" Lincoln parroted.

"Indeed. You see, every living creature in the world, both big and small, has some kind of purpose in their lives. Discovering that purpose is something we all must do at some point in our lives," Bill clarified.

'A purpose in all our lives,' Lincoln thought to himself, as he glanced back at the tiles. Just then, the sound of a grumbling stomach came from Lala.

"Really Lala?" Rito questioned.

"Hehe, sorry about that," Lala chuckled. Bill chuckled as well.

"I suppose it is time for dinner," Bill commented.

"Then I'll go and get started on that beef stew," Brock commented.

"Great! I'll show you to the kitchen," Bill replied.

"Do you mind if I come and help out too?" Mikan asked.

"Sure. I'd love to have some help," Brock replied, as he and Mikan followed Bill.

Ok guys, I'm planning on having there be a gym in Porta Vista after Lincoln and company escape the St. Anne, where he, Raigo and Leaf will challenge. I'm thinking of having it be like the Striaton City Gym in the Black and White Games where there are three Gym Leaders to battle. If you guys like this idea, then answer the following question correctly and leave the names and type specialty each leader will have and who battles them in the comments. Without further ado, here's the question:
