And now, onto the next part of the story!
About an hour and a half later,
Everyone had sat down in an expansive dining room, enjoying the nice meal that Brock and Mikan had prepared for everyone, "Wow, this is amazing!" Lala exclaimed, enjoying every bite of the stew they were eating.
"Indeed. It's certainly the best change from tofu, that's for sure. Have either of you considered taking up a career in culinary arts?" Bill asked.
"Not really. My real passion comes from raising Pokemon. But thanks for the compliment, nevertheless," Brock replied.
"Yeah, and I don't really know what I want to do with my life just yet. Mostly just taking care of the house and my brother," Mikan added.
"Come on, Mikan, I'm not THAT helpless," Rito retorted. It was then that Bill noticed a thoughtful look on Lincoln's face.
"Is something on your mind, Lincoln?" Bill asked.
"Yeah. I was thinking back to what you said about 'extinct evolutions.' What exactly does that mean?" Lincoln asked.
"Ah, an excellent question! First, let me ask you something; you're familiar with the concept of 'Regional Variants', yes?" Bill asked.
"I was introduced to the concept a little bit before we came to visit you when I caught two different Meowths, so yes," Lincoln replied.
"Well, as you probably already know, many animals adapt to their environment in order to survive. For instance, a squirrel could be of the same species, but look differently in one part of the world than it does in the other. Of course, not many animals are able to last long in these regions, and eventually die off. The same principle applies to Pokemon," Bill explained.
"How so?" Risa asked.
"During a study trip to Canalave City in the Sinnoh Region, I came across a book that tells of the region's history, and how it used to be referred to as 'Hisui'. This ancient Sinnoh Region was home to many different species of Pokemon that no longer live in Sinnoh in this day and age, but did so back then. And most of these Pokemon had their own regional variants because of the habitat. For example, let's take one of Lincoln's Pokemon, Goomy, for example," Bill said, as he pressed the remote, showing Goomy's entire evolution line. Lincoln saw that between Goomy and Goodra, there appeared to be some kind of snail like Pokemon with stubby arms, "Normally, Goomy remains a Pure Dragon Type as it evolves into Sliggoo and then into Goodra. But in the Hisui region," Bill then pulled up images of Sliggoo and Goodra, both of whom appeared to have big grey shells, "Both of Goomy's evolved forms become Dragon and Steel Types due to the iron rich swamps of the region."
"Whoa, that's awesome!" Lincoln commented.
"Indeed. Of course, many Pokemon, even in modern times, have new evolutions that their normal regional counterparts do not possess. For example, lets use these three Pokemon, Scyther, Ursaring, and Stantler," Bill then pulled up images of a green mantis like Pokemon with scythe like claws, a big brown bear Pokemon with a gold ring on it's stomach, and a reindeer like Pokemon with eye shaped horns, "Each of these Pokemon used to have evolutions that no longer exist in modern times. For instance, Stantler evolves into Wyrdeer. Scyther evolves into Kleavor when exposed to Black Augurite, and Ursaring used to be able to evolve into Ursaluna, if a Peat Block is used on it during a Full Moon," Bill explained, as he showed images of another reindeer Pokemon, but with a long, white beard, a big, yellowish mantis Pokemon with big axe like claws, and a bulky looking bear Pokemon with a moon like symbol on it's forehead.
"Amazing!" Nana exclaimed.
"I thought the same thing myself when I first learned about Sinnoh's past," Bill replied.
"But what caused these evolutions to go extinct?" Ren asked.
"That's just it. Nobody knows the exact reason why. It could have something to do with how the environment changed over the years, or with how humans and Pokemon were able to finally coexist with one another, or some other possible reason. In some cases, like with Stantler and Hisuian Qwilfish, the moves they used to be able to learn, such as Psyshield Bash and Barb Barrage respectively, have been lost to time, so no one knows how the moves work anymore, or if it's even possible to teach them to their modern-day descendants," Bill replied.
"Hmm, it would be just like how certain martial arts can be lost throughout the ages," Saruyama commented.
"Indeed. So, do any you have any other questions?" Bill asked.
"I have one last question regarding this," Lincoln said, showing Bill the Rainbow Wing.
"Ooh, pretty! What is it?" Lala asked.
"That's a Rainbow Wing. It's an incredible treasure that is said to bring happiness to those who wield one. What do you want to know about it, Lincoln?" Bill asked.
"What can you tell me about Ho-Oh? I mean, I do know SOME of the lore behind it, but knowing about it some more would be handy," Lincoln replied.
"Ah, that's a very good topic. Well, the lore of Ho-Oh originates from the Ecruteak City in the Johto Region, at a place known as the 'Brass Tower'. It was used as a symbol of peace between both people and Pokemon, as well as a place to pay tribute to Ho-Oh itself. One day, a bolt of lightning struck the tower, setting it ablaze. All but three nameless Pokemon were able to escape with their lives," Bill explained.
"I see. And I assume Ho-Oh has some part in the story?" Lincoln asked.
"Indeed. After a heavy rain was able to extinguish the flames, it is said that Ho-Oh appeared, and used its power to revive the three lost Pokemon into three Legendary Pokemon, each one representing an event that had just transpired at the tower. Raikou, the Pokemon resembling the bolt of lightning that had struck the tower, Entei, the Pokemon resembling the flames that engulfed the tower, and Suicune, the Pokemon resembling the rain that put out the fire," Bill explained.
"Whoa, that's pretty heavy stuff," Rito commented.
"Indeed. Once they were revived, Ho-Oh and the three Legendary Pokemon left. It is said that all four of those Pokemon are searching the world for a person with a pure heart," Bill concluded his explanation.
'A trainer with a pure heart,' Lincoln pondered, thinking that Ho-Oh might've thought that he was worthy of it's blessings.
"So Bill, do you have any Pokemon you yourself are interested in?" Mikado asked.
"Yes, I do. It's one that I wanted to meet for a very long time," Bill replied.
"Care to elaborate?" Saki asked.
"Certainly. The rest of you may not know about it, but have the three of you ever heard of a Pokemon called 'Dragonite'?" Bill asked.
"How could we not? Dragonite is the partner Pokemon of Lance, the strongest member of the Kanto Region's Elite 4, as well as our Champion too!" Brock commented.
"Professor Oak used a Dragonite to bring us to Kanto from the Detroit Airport when I first met him," Lincoln added.
"When you say 'Dragonite', you're not actually referring to an actual dragon, are you?" Kotegawa asked.
"Indeed, we are," Lincoln replied, punching in a few keys on his Pokedex, "Here's the entry on the Pokedex."
"Dragonite, the Dragon Pokemon, a Dragon and Flying type, and the final evolved form of Dratini. It is said that Dragonite makes it's home somewhere out in the sea. They are often seen rescuing people from shipwrecks. Despite it's bulky size, it can circle the globe in only 16 hours," Dexter explained, showing a picture of Dragonite.
"It definitely looks like a dragon," Mikan commented.
"And they're extremely rare too," Misty replied.
"Undoubtedly. But the Dragonite I want to meet is far more different from the one Lance has," Bill replied, before turning to Brock, "Tell me, Brock, you come from Pewter City, yes?"
"Yes, that's right."
"And you've been to the Pewter Museum of Science, correct?"
"I have, but what does this have to do with Dragonite?" Brock asked.
"Tell me. One of the exhibits includes a large skeletal display of a dragon, correct?" Bill asked.
"Yes, that's right. And now that you mention it, it does look something like a Dragonite, but even at its greatest height, a Dragonite shouldn't be more than nine feet tall. Ten at most, but the display at the museum looked to be around roughly 35 feet, give or take," Brock replied.
"So the Pokemon you want to meet is just a large Dragonite?" Nana asked.
"Correct. But this particular subject is at a far greater height than any normal Pokemon outside of the Galar Region," Bill replied.
"What does that mean? Does Galar have giant Pokemon?" Lincoln asked.
"It's part of a phenomenon I observed during my stay in Galar known as 'Dynamaxing', where Pokemon are able to grow to colossal sizes. The Dragonite I want to meet is about the same size as these Dynamax Pokemon, but the energy used for Dynamaxing can only be found in Galar," Bill explained.
"So this Dragonite in particular is some kind of one-of-a-kind Pokemon?" Momo asked.
"More than likely. It could be an unconfirmed subspecies of Dragonite, or just about any kind of Pokemon for that matter. Of course, this Dragonite is the only recorded specimen I have come to discover," Bill replied, getting up from his seat, and walking over to the window, looking out over the ocean, "In fact, part of my theory about this giant Dragonite stems from this sound that I heard one night last year," Bill then pressed the remote again, which began playing a beautiful, yet haunting sound, almost like singing.
"Wow… could it… be trying to say something?" Lincoln wondered.
"Oh, most undoubtedly. 'I want to meet you' is what I think its saying," Bill replied, as he played the sound again, "A few months after hearing this sound, I recorded a sound of my own and have been playing it every night across the ocean, hoping that the giant Dragonite will hear it. 'I want to meet you too. Lets be friends' is what I'm hoping the sound is saying," he explained.
"And your plan is to use the recording to invite this giant Dragonite here?" Aya asked.
"Yes, that's right. My hope is that inviting it here will allow me the opportunity to give it the friendship it has longed to have for so long," Bill replied.
"So, what do intend to do once you find it? Do you plan on catching it?" Lincoln asked. To his surprise, Bill only shook his head.
"Why would I need to catch it? Simply meeting it would be more than enough for me," Bill replied, as an idea popped into his head, "Would any of you like to join me in watching out for the giant Dragonite? I certainly would like some company."
"Sure, I'd love to see this giant Dragonite myself," Lincoln replied.
"I'm in too. It sounds like it could be fun," Misty added.
"Same here. Watching for a giant Pokemon sounds fun," Brock added.
"Splendid! And what about the rest of you?" Bill asked Rito and friends.
"Lets go, Rito!" Lala urged.
"It does sound like it could be fun," Haruna added.
"I'd kind of like to see if this giant dragon does exist," Kotegawa added. The rest of them began sharing similar sentiments as well.
"In that cause, let's make our way to the upper deck of the lighthouse. We're bound to have a great view from there," Bill suggested, leading them through his home.
Later, up at the Lighthouse Tower,
Bill had led the large group up to the lighthouse, where they had a great view of the ocean. However, an unusually thick fog was rolling in that obscured their vison, "I can barely see anything out there," Saki commented.
"Are you certain we'll be able to the Dragonite?" Lincoln asked.
"Patience, my friends. But it is rather odd that the fog is this thick tonight," Bill observed.
"Hmm, it could be a sign that the Dragonite is on its way," Momo theorized.
"I certainly hope so. I would love nothing more than to meet such a magnificent creature in person," Bill replied, as he once again played his recording.
"Have you thought about what you're going to do when you actually meet it?" Misty asked.
Well, I," Bill was cut off when a loud song like sound resonated through the bay. It was very similar to the sound that Bill was playing, and it was coming from somewhere in the fog bank.
"Can it be?" Lincoln questioned, as they all looked out into the fog, trying to find the source. Bill looked absolutely ecstatic.
"It's here! It's finally here!" he exclaimed merrily, as he pressed a button on his remote, causing the volume of his recording to increase, which also caused the beacon to change colors, "That should attract its attention."
As he and the others peered out into the ocean, Lincoln could faintly make out a shadowy figure with glowing yellow eyes peering out of the fogbank. It seemed to be approaching the lighthouse, growing ever larger as it drew nearer, "Is that it?" he asked.
"Yes! It's finally here! Oh, how I've waited for this day!" Bill exclaimed.
"Well, your patience is finally paying off," Brock commented, as the figure continued to approach, still growing ever larger as it approached.
"Holy crap, that thing's way bigger than I was expecting!" Ren exclaimed, awestruck at the sheer size of it.
'This seems like something out of kaiju movie if it weren't for that singing,' Lincoln thought. It was then that he realized that he couldn't understand the singing.
"Nana, do you know what it's singing?" Lala asked.
"That's the odd thing; I can't understand a word of it," Nana replied. Lincoln took this as his cue to point his Pokedex at the approaching giant.
"No Pokemon detected within range," was all Dexter said.
"That could be why we can't understand what it's saying," Lincoln theorized.
"Maybe," Nana commented.
"This singing is so beautiful. Almost like something to dance to," Mio commented.
"Would you care to dance?" Saruyama asked.
"I would honestly prefer anyone other than you, but I suppose one pity dance wouldn't hurt," Mio replied. Saruyama only gave her an annoyed look, but still did a waltz with her.
Meanwhile, with the Rockets,
"For Arceus' sake, this whole thing has been a complete waste of time!" the lead grunt groaned, looking out across the cape, an expression of irritation mixed with boredom on her face.
"What about that sound we heard, boss?" one of the underling grunts asked.
"It was just coming from the lighthouse, you moron!" the lead grunt snapped, as the lights changed color, "See? I'm willing to bet that was the source of the rumors!"
"I suppose you do have a point. But what about Bill and those brats?" the underling asked.
"Let them go. I'm too irritated to even be bothered with…" the lead grunt was cut off when she and the others heard a second, completely different singing sound, "What in the world?"
"Chief! Look over there!" a second grunt exclaimed, pointing out into the bay. There, they saw the giant Dragonite, walking towards the lighthouse.
"Is that a Dragonite? That thing's freaking huge!" a third grunt exclaimed.
"Huh. I guess the rumors turned out to be true after all. Well, lets get to work in capturing it," the lead grunt stated.
"'Capturing it'? But aren't we just supposed to be on recon duty?" the third grunt asked.
"What, and let some other squad hog all the glory? Yeah, like that's going to happen," the lead grunt said, removing all of the Pokeballs she had on her belt, "C'mon boys, we're going to need all of our Pokemon for this job."
Back at the lighthouse,
The giant Dragonite had finally reached the lighthouse, and was looking curiously down at the group, with Bill cautiously approaching it, "To think, that I would be able to meet such a magnificent specimen such as you. This is truly the most breathtaking experience ever," Bill gasped.
"It's huge!" Kotegawa exclaimed.
"Even the skeleton at the Pewter Museum wasn't nearly this big!" Brock added, just as stunned as the others at the creature before them. Lincoln then pulled out his Pokedex and pointed it at the Dragonite.
"This Male Dragonite is Level 80, and knows the moves Hyper Beam, Dragon Rush, Surf, Dive, Draco Meteor, and Ice Punch," Dexter explained.
'Ok, I am not planning on picking a fight with this thing – ever,' Lincoln thought, putting his Pokedex away.
Bill stepped forward, "Hello there. I've been wanting to meet you for a very long time. I'm hoping that you'll accept my friendship," he said in a gentle, cautious tone. Dragonite looked at the green haired man curiously.
"A friend? It has been so long since I have had one," the Dragonite said.
"He's… saying that he'd like to be friends, Bill," Lincoln said. Dragonite looked at the white-haired boy curiously.
"A human that can understand Pokemon? I've only seen that once when I visited the Galar Region, so many years ago," Dragonite stated.
"It's kind of a long story, but I can, as you said, understand Pokemon. Nana here can as well," Lincoln replied, motioning towards Nana.
"If the two of you wouldn't mind too terribly, could you relay what Dragonite is saying?" Bill requested.
"Sure thing," Lincoln replied.
"If it'll help you out, then sure," Nana replied.
"Great! Now then, Dragonite, I would like to know more about you. Would you be willing to oblige?" Bill asked.
"Certainly. Well, for starters, I am the last of the giant Dragonite in this world. Do you still wish to be friends with me?" Dragonite asked.
"He just said that he was the last giant Dragonite in the world, and it wants to know if you will be its friend," Nana translated.
"I have dreamed about meeting you for a long time, and I would love nothing more than to get to know more about you. Being friends with you would be the greatest honor of my life," Bill replied.
"We'd like to be friends with you too, if you want," Lincoln said on behalf of the others.
"He's right. You can never have too many friends, right?" Nana added.
"Quite right. I would love to accept your…" before the giant Dragonite could finish it's thought, a volley of attacks shot out from nowhere, striking the gentle giant, causing it to bellow in discomfort, as it swung it's arm nearly striking the lighthouse beacon. When the pain died down, the giant Dragonite glared down at the group, "What in Arceus' name was that for?! I thought you wanted to be friends!"
"That wasn't us, Dragonite, we swear!" Nana exclaimed.
"But if none of you attacked me, then who…" another volley off attacks once again struck Dragonite, causing it to bellow again, "There it is again!"
"Look! Down there!" Run exclaimed, pointing down towards the beach. The group saw a Team Rocket squad ordering their Pokemon to launch attacks against the giant Dragonite.
"It's Team Rocket!" Jenny exclaimed.
"This is horrible! Why would they attack such a beautiful creature?" Saki asked.
"They're a criminal syndicate. They don't care about the consequences as long as they get what they want," Lincoln replied.
"Wasn't that woman at Mount Moon before?" Brock asked, noticing the green haired woman, leading the squad.
"We have to stop them! We'll go and try to fend them off. You guys focus on calming down Dragonite!" Misty said, as she, Lincoln, Brock, Joy and Jenny all rushed down the staircase, bent on stopping Team Rocket's evil scheme.
On the beach,
"Keep up the onslaught! We'll have this beast back to the boss in no time!" the lead grunt said, as their Pokemon continued to attack Dragonite.
"YES CHIEF!" the underling grunts said, as their Pokemon were beginning to launch another volley of attacks, when…
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" they turned to see Lincoln and company arriving on the scene. None of them looked to happy to see the Rockets, "That Dragonite did nothing to deserve this!" Lincoln proclaimed.
"That's right! I may be an off-duty police intern, but I still have the authority to place you all under arrest!" Jenny said.
"Ha! You think we care if that beast did anything to deserve this treatment or about the law? Let me tell you about the three principles of Team Rocket; 1. Steal Pokemon for profit. 2. Exploit Pokemon for profit. And 3. All Pokemon exist solely for the use of Team Rocket. That includes that giant Dragonite," the lead grunt said, snapping her fingers, causing their Pokemon to turn their attention to the five trainers, "As well as yours. I'd say it's perfect compensation for our failure at Mount Moon. Once we bag that Dragonite, and all of your Pokemon, we're going to move on to Bill's Lighthouse to snatch up any rare Pokemon he has stashed away."
"Yeah, like we're going to let that happen," Lincoln said, as he and the others sent out all of their Pokemon in response to the threat.
"We'll just see about that, brat. Take them all down, and show no mercy!" she ordered, as they plunged into battle.
Meanwhile, back up at the Lighthouse,
Bill and the others were trying their hardest to try and calm down the giant Dragonite. However, the distressed look on it's face indicated that their words were having little effect, "Dragonite, please, I wanted to meet you for a long time, and I don't know if a chance like this will ever come around again. I do want to be your friend, so please, don't leave!" Bill pleaded.
"I too wished to be friends, but if this is how humanity treat their friends, then it may be best if I leave," Dragonite replied.
"But we had nothing to do with those attacks against you! It was those bad guys in the black clothing down there!" Nana exclaimed, pointing down to the beach.
"Bad guys in black clothing?" Dragonite turned to the beach to see if her words were true, only to find that they were, as it saw Lincoln and company fighting against Team Rocket, "Why are those humans that were with you fighting against those other humans?"
"Lincoln and the others are trying to protect you from the guys in black, because that's what a real friend does for their friends," Nana replied. Dragonite had a thoughtful look on its face.
"Hmm, maybe I can give the green haired man another chance, but this is his only one. If he wastes it, I shall never return," Dragonite said.
"Dragonite said that it'll give you another chance Bill, but if you waste it, then it will never return," Nana said to Bill.
"Believe me, I have no intention of wasting such a privilege," Bill said.
"Uh, guys? It doesn't look like Lincoln and the others are fairing too well down there," Run called out. And she was right. Team Rocket appeared to be pushing them back.
"Well, if what you said about friends is true, then I should lend them some help," Dragonite said.
"Dragonite's going to help out Lincoln and the others," Nana said. Bill then took out a cluster of six Pokeballs.
"Dragonite, let me join you too. They're my friends as well," Bill requested.
"Certainly," Dragonite replied, as it brought a hand up to the lighthouse, allowing Bill to climb on.
Back at the battle with the Rockets,
To say that Lincoln and the others had gotten pushed back into a corner would be an understatement. They had the battle going in their favor at first, but the numbers game eventually caught up with them, and now the heroes were down to just five Pokemon; Pikachu, Inferna, Meowth, Goomy and Chansey, the last of whom was using an energy wave to help heal up the other's Pokemon, "Well, this was a bit more than I bargained for when I joined you guys," Meowth commented, sounding wiped out.
"Tell me about it. How did things get this bad so fast?" Pikachu replied, sounding equally exhausted.
"We gotta… keep trying," Inferna said in between breaths.
"If I had enough stamina, I could use Bide to wipe them out," Goomy commented, struggling to remain conscious.
"You guys are doing great, but maybe we should change up our strategy," Lincoln said to them.
"Why bother? None of your Pokemon are strong enough to face us," the green haired woman said, as a Pokemon that appeared to be a walking palm tree with three coconut heads stood in front of her, "Exeggutor, use Stomp!" she ordered. Exeggutor then stomped down hard on Pikachu and Goomy.
"Pikachu! Goomy!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Let them go!" Inferna demanded, as she attempted to use Fire Fang, only for it to fail.
"Golbat, use Steel Wing on that lizard!" the woman ordered. A blue bat with a large, gaping mouth then smacked Inferna off of Exeggutor.
"Infera! Are you alright?" Lincoln asked.
"Y-Yeah, but why can't I still use Fire Fang?" Inferna groaned.
"Once we deal with these guys, we can ask Bill for some pointers," Lincoln reassured.
"Ha! You still think you have a chance of beating us? That Charmander of yours is far too weak to do anything useful, but we just hate to see anyone who crosses us leave with their Pokemon, so it'll still be joining us once we're done with you!" the green haired woman declared.
"Quick! Use Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Hydro Pump, Psybeam, Dark Pulse, and Fairy Wind!" Bill's voice called out, as a stream of attacks fired off from above, including a bolt of lightning, a stream of fire, a massive water blast, a ray of psychic energy, a stream of dark rings, and a mysterious wind. Each attack was able to drive back each of the Rocket's Pokemon, "Looks as though we arrived just in time," Bill said, as he was lowered to the beach by the giant Dragonite, along with six different Pokemon.
One was a spikey yellow dog like Pokemon.
Another was an orange dog like Pokemon with a big, fluffly yellow collar and tail.
Another looked like a blue mermaid like dog.
Another was a sleek, pink cat like Pokemon with a red jewel in the middle of its forehead.
Another was a pitch-black fox like Pokemon with yellow glowing rings on its body.
The last one was a white, dog like Pokemon with ribbons flowing from it's body.
"Nice of you to show up, Bill," Misty commented in relief.
"Yeah. I don't know how much longer we would've been able to last," Brock added.
"And you brought Dragonite along with you!" Lincoln added, seeing the giant Dragonite was with Bill. The Rocket's became terrified upon seeing the massive Dragon Pokemon looming over them, an extremely angry look in it's eyes.
"Uh, chief? Maybe we ought to pull out?" one grunt suggested.
"Tsk, you do what you want. I'm not leaving here empty handed!" the green haired woman replied. Inferna once again attempted to use Fire Fang, managing to ignite her fangs, only for them to fizzle out.
"You had it that time, Inferna," Lincoln encouraged.
"You're getting close, Lincoln," Bill said, approaching Inferna, "To use Fire Fang, your Charmander has to take in enough oxygen to keep it's fangs lit."
"Enough talk! Golbat, use Leech Life!" the green haired woman ordered. Golbat began to swoop down at them.
"Here, Flareon will demonstrate Fire Fang on that Golbat," Bill said. The orange Pokemon then leapt up, and bit down on Golbat with Fire Fang, sending it down to defeat, "Charmander, if you can mimic what Flareon just did, you'll be one step closer to mastering Fire Fang," Bill said to Inferna.
"Alright Inferna, just try to replicate what Flareon did, and use Fire Fang on Exeggutor!" Lincoln instructed.
"Ok, I'll give it a try," Inferna said, her tail flame burning more intensely than before.
"What's going on with her tail?" Lincoln asked.
"I do believe this must be Blaze," Bill replied.
"Blaze?" Lincoln asked.
"It's an ability that all Fire Type Starters commonly have. When they're stamina is almost gone, the power of all their Fire Type moves become much stronger," Brock replied. Inferna took in a deep breath, and was able to fully ignite her fangs.
"She's got the form right, now let them have it!" Lincoln said, as Inferna charged at Exeggutor, finally biting down on the Coconut Pokemon, causing an explosion, sending Exeggutor skidding back, before it burst into flames.
"I… I did it!" Inferna cheered, as a bright light erupted from her body.
"Is she beginning to evolve already?" Lincoln questioned, as Inferna began to grow larger. In minutes, Inferna had now become a slightly larger Lizard Pokemon, now more red than orange, and with a large horn protruding from her head.
"Congratulations Lincoln. Your Charmander has evolved into a Charmeleon," Bill stated.
"Charmeleon. Too cool," Lincoln commented, pointing his Pokedex at his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Charmeleon, the Flame Pokemon, a Fire Type, and the evolved form of Charmander. Tough battles often excite this Pokemon. Stronger opponents often make it more aggressive. When this happens, it's tail burns a blueish-white color," Dexter explained.
"That's awesome, Inferna! How do you feel?" Lincoln asked.
"Much stronger!" Inferna replied.
"Tsk, alright, retreat!" the green haired woman ordered, as she and others recalled their Pokemon.
"Stop right there! You're all under arrest for attempted Pokemon poaching!" Jenny declared.
"We're governed by a power above the law. And you're not even a real cop, just an intern. And even if that were the case, your rules would still mean nothing to us," the green haired woman glared at the group, as she and her squad were getting ready to run off, only for a giant fist to stop them in their tracks. Looking up, they saw the giant Dragonite, rearing back it's other fist, coated in icy energy, before hurling it at them, "Not again," was all she could say before the fist made contact, sending the squad flying in a random direction.
"Wow, I think they're flying even further than last time," Brock commented, no longer seeing them.
"Good riddance to bad rubbish. It seems like everywhere we go, Team Rocket always shows up to cause some kind of trouble," Misty observed.
"Almost as if they're following us," Lincoln added.
"Thanks for coming to our aid," Joy said to Bill.
"Think nothing of it. It's just what friends do," Bill said, looking up at Dragonite, who nodded it's head.
"So, these are some of your Pokemon, Bill?" Lincoln asked, looking at Bill's Pokemon.
"Indeed. It took a long time for me to raise them into what you see before you," Bill replied. Lincoln then pointed his Pokedex at each of the Pokemon.
"Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokemon, the Water Type evolved form of Eevee. Because it's body's molecules closely resemble that of water, it can melt into the water to become invisible. When its fins vibrate, that means rain is coming.
Jolteon, the Lightning Pokemon, the Electric Type evolved form of Eevee. It accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere around it then fires off 10,000 volt lightning bolts. When angered or startled, it's bristly fur stands on end like needles.
Flareon, the Flame Pokemon, the Fire Type evolved form of Eevee. It has a flame sac in it's body. Before battle, it's body temperature tops nearly 1,650 degrees Fahrenheit.
Espeon, the Sun Pokemon, the Psychic Type evolved form of Eevee. It uses air currents to predict it's opponent's next move. When it uses it's psychic powers, the jewel on it's forehead glows.
Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon, the Dark Type evolved form of Eevee. On nights of a full moon, the rings on Umbreon's body glow brightly. When angered, it secrets a poisonous sweat that it uses to blind enemies so that it can escape.
Sylveon, the Intertwining Pokemon, the Fairy Type evolved form of Eevee. Sylveon wraps it's ribbon like feelers around it's trainer's arms when they walk together. It does so to sense it's trainer's feelings," Dexter explained.
"Whoa, so they're all evolved forms of a Pokemon called 'Eevee'?" Lincoln asked.
"Indeed. I actually have two other evolved forms back up in the lighthouse. But for now, it's getting late, and you all have injured Pokemon that need to be treated," Bill said.
"Ah, that's right! Lets get back to the lighthouse to administer proper treatment," Joy said. With that, Lincoln and the others recalled their Pokemon (or in Pikachu's case, was lifted into Lincoln's arms), and they made their way back to the light house.
"Do you have rooms available for us?" Misty asked.
"Yes, I do. And I have bunk beds as well, in case I ever had any guests over," Bill replied.
"Oh good," Lincoln said.
Meanwhile, at Professor Oak's Lab,
"And that's pretty much the gist of what I want to ask of you all," Professor Oak said, as he was currently engaged in a videophone conference call with eleven different people, each one wearing lab coats the same as him, including Professor Sycamore.
One was a very attractive woman with purple hair and a half-lidded look in her eyes.
The second was a lanky man with glasses.
The third was a fairly bulky man with a beard.
The fourth was an angry-looking old man with a moustache.
The fifth was a young woman with a big, golden-brown hairdo.
The sixth was a muscular man with a pair of green sunglasses, and was only wearing shorts and a lab coat.
The seven was an elderly woman.
The eighth looked like a woman who had been living in the jungle for a long time.
The ninth was a man with an impressive beard.
The tenth was a man with regular glasses and brown hair.
"Hmm, that's quite a favor to ask of us, Samuel," the man with the moustache commented.
"Well, considering how well the American lad he's currently sponsoring is doing, it would make helping with our research a lot more beneficial, Rowan," Professor Sycamore said to the mustached man.
"I'm quite interested in hearing more about this Lincoln kid myself. If he's any indication, then the Royal Woods place he came from must be home to quite a few potential prodigies," the bulky man said.
"Quite right, Birch. Of course, right now, there are only five of them, and two of them have already expressed a keen interest in first learning about Pokemon before starting their own journey," Professor Oak said.
"Well, at the very least, we can all give them an opportunity to choose a starter Pokemon from each of our regions," the lanky man said.
"Not us, Elm. Sada and I are too busy at the Academy to make any special trips to America," the man with the beard said.
"I think each of us will be more than enough already, Turo," the elderly woman said.
"So, you'll agree to my request?" Professor Oak asked.
"I'm in!" Professor Birch said.
"As am I," Professor Elm added.
"I'd like to see what kind of people these kids are," the youngest looking woman said.
"If you can provide them with study guides, we can give them the trainer qualification test when we get there," the man in the sunglasses said.
"Quite right. I'm in too," Professor Rowan added.
"I'll join in too," the elderly woman said.
"And I can help the kids that want to study Pokemon first with their research," the man in the regular glasses said.
"You've got my vote," the attractive woman said.
"Marvelous! And with me, the motion is unanimous," Professor Sycamore proclaimed.
"Excellent. I'll send over the study guides as soon as we hang up here," Professor Oak said.
"Very good. We hope to hear from you soon," Professor Rowan said, as, one-by-one, they all begun to hang up.
"Well, things are going much more smoothly than I anticipated," Professor Oak said, as he began typing something on the computer.
The next morning, just outside of Bill's lighthouse,
Lincoln decided to take in the sunrise before they left, as he stared out over the ocean, "Man, this whole trip was the best idea ever," he commented.
"You no longer bummed out about… you know?" Pikachu asked.
"Fortunately, hanging out with you guys and our new friends helped me to get over what had happened in Cerulean City," Lincoln replied.
"I thought we'd find you out here," Lincoln turned to see Misty, Brock, Joy, and Jenny, "We're getting ready to leave now. We should say goodbye to Bill before we head out," Misty suggested.
"Right. I was just taking in the sunrise before we leave," Lincoln replied.
"I'm guessing you're feeling better?" Brock asked.
"Much better. This trip was the best decision we've made on our journey yet," Lincoln replied, as they neared the entrance to the lighthouse, where Bill was sweeping off the front doorstep.
"Ah, there you all are. I'm guessing you're heading out on the road again?" Bill asked.
"Yeah. Thanks for having us as guests, Bill," Lincoln replied.
"The pleasure is all mine," Bill replied.
"By the way, what do you intend to do now that you've succeeded in meeting the giant Dragonite?" Joy asked.
"Well, my first task is to repair the lighthouse. After that, I intend to try to reach out to it again. Despite having only met it last night, I still have so many questions left unanswered," Bill replied.
"Well, at least you're dedicated to solving one of the many mysteries of the world. Speaking of which, thinking back to what you said last night about many undiscovered Pokemon in the world, do you think we'll ever find them all?" Lincoln asked.
"Probably not in our lifetime, Lincoln. But that's why we have to keep searching, in the hopes of discovering new things each and every day, whether it be places, people, Pokemon, etc.," Bill replied.
"I guess you're right about that. I am curious about all the Pokemon in the world myself," Lincoln replied.
"And that's a good thing. Your curiosity is what can drive you to explore new places and discover all new things," Bill replied.
"I know I would love to discover a new type of Water Pokemon," Misty commented.
"Even if it's part Bug Type?" Brock asked.
"W-Well, maybe. I don't like Bug Pokemon at all, but I am willing to admit that there are some exceptions to that rule, like Butterfree," Misty replied.
"Well, hopefully we'll run into each other again soon, Bill," Lincoln said, shaking hands with Bill.
"Likewise. And I hope your travels are safe," Bill said.
"Thanks. Well, we'll see you later," Lincoln said, as the five of them left.
"Farewell, friends," Bill said, as he resumed his cleaning.
"By the way, where are the others?" Lincoln asked.
"They left a little bit before we came out to find you. They said that they were heading for Vermillion City," Jenny replied.
"Really? Well, hopefully we can meet up with them by then," Lincoln replied, unaware of what was about to happen next.
"So, Lincoln, did you enjoy our time at the beach?" Joy asked, as some familiar figures approached them from the bushes.
"Yeah. I really liked just hanging out with you guys. Maybe if we run into each other again, we can do something like this again? The same goes for the guys we met while here," Lincoln suggested, turning to face them, only to find Nana and her sisters. Nana blushed brightly. Momo looked rather mischievously, while Lala looked ecstatic, "Oh, hey ladies. I was under the impression that you and your friends had already left for Vermillion City."
"W-Well, we were, but we wanted to make sure we had everything," Nana stammered.
"My, my, Lincoln, I had no idea you knew about the Devilukian marriage proposal ritual," Momo said. Lincoln and the others stared at her with expressions indicated they were trying to process what she had just said.
"WHAT?!" they five of them yelled, completely confused.
"Don't play dumb, Lincoln. I saw how you fondled Nana's breasts, or lack thereof, and now you just pretty much told her that you love her. That officially means you two are engaged," Momo explained.
"I'm so happy for you Nana!" Lala exclaimed, embracing her little sister.
"W-Wait! I-It's not like that, I swear!" Nana retorted.
"Even so, you know the rules. Just wait till I tell Mom and Dad about this," Momo said. All the while, Lincoln and friends were trying to process what they had just heard.
"Lincoln, what does this mean?!" Joy exclaimed, wanting answers.
"I have no idea!" Lincoln replied.
"Well, why are they talking about marriage proposal rituals like they aren't of this world?!" Misty exclaimed.
"Would you believe that the three of them are really alien princesses?" Lincoln nervously asked.
"Lincoln, this is no time for jokes! Tell us what this is all about!" Brock demanded, shaking the white-haired boy.
"I TOLD YOU, THEY ARE ALIEN PRINCESSES, AND I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THIS WHOLE THING IS ABOUT! I WASN'T EVEN TRYING TO FONDLE NANA!" Lincoln exclaimed through the shakes.
"There, you see?! Lincoln had no intention of groping me! Therefore, there is no need for any marriage talks!" Nana declared.
"Even so, the law of Planet Deviluke is ironclad, and Daddy's going to be really upset if he hears some earthling fondled one of his daughters without any intention of marriage," Lala warned.
"Wait, you guys really are aliens?" Misty asked in surprise.
"Yep. We're the three crown princesses of Planet Deviluke. Our Daddy is the supreme ruler of the entire universe, though it's really our Mom that does all the governing, really. Daddy's usually busy waging wars with other planets to expand Deviluke territory," Momo explained.
"And if your father were to hear about this little altercation between Lincoln and Nana?" Jenny nervously asked.
"Well, he would first come to evaluate Lincoln's worthiness. If he deems him worthy, then he'll probably just let it go. If not, then most likely Earth would be completely obliterated," Lala casually stated. The five humans paled at the very thought.
"Aww man, what do I do?!" Lincoln lamented.
"But you don't have to worry too much. We can ask Mom to come and help evaluate you. Despite Daddy being the ruler of the universe, Mom's really the head of the household, and is bound to… 'convince' our Daddy to give you a chance," Lala replied. It unnerved Lincoln and the others how casually Lala said "convince".
"Your Mom sounds like she's really scary," Misty commented.
"Oh she can be, especially when Daddy goes fooling around with other women," Nana replied.
"Yeesh, I'll try to stay on her good side," Lincoln commented.
"But, there is a way to break off the engagement," Nana pointed out.
"Now hold on, Nana, why don't you give Lincoln a chance? Who knows? The two of you might actually come to really like each other," Lala advised.
"But there are certain laws here on Earth about marriage. It's true that in Pokemon Regions, harem marriages are legal, but in places like where Lincoln comes from, it's entirely illegal," Jenny pointed out.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. If things work out between the two of them, then Earth laws will no longer apply to Lincoln, since he will be second in line for the Deviluke throne," Lala replied, before turning to her little sister again, "So, Nana, would at least be willing to give Lincoln a chance?" Nana looked over at Lincoln.
"W-Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to at least give it a try, but could we keep the official announcement of our engagement a secret?" Nana requested.
"Very well," Lala replied.
"Thanks. Well, I suppose we'll see you in Vermillion City, then," Nana said to her new secret fiancé and his friends.
"L-Likewise," Lincoln replied, still shaken by everything that had just transpired. With that, the three princesses left them behind to return to the others. Lincoln then collapsed, "What did I just get myself into?"
Meanwhile, high in the skies above Cerulean Cape,
"Where is that white haired brat, anyhow?!" Jessie yelled, as she, James, and Meowth were looking down at the Cape, trying to find Lincoln and company.
"It doesn't make sense! We only ran into them a few days ago! How could we lose track of them so quickly?!" James replied.
"Well, we won't find them if you two keep yappin'! They couldn't have gotten far!" Meowth yelled.
"Meowth's right. Keep searching! They have to still be in the area," Jessie said. The three of them continued to look around, unaware that Lincoln and company had just left the Cape only a little while ago.
