When Usagi had been told that she was the reincarnation of the Princess, she could hardly see it.
She was clumsy, a dum-dum, a normal girl.
Sure, she was Sailor Moon but... but this was different! A princess, and one meant to have one of the hugest burden a ruler should have - the burden of finishing what was started in the past. Kill Metalia, the one that plotted the end of the Moon Kingdom.
And when the 'last battle' began, Usagi was hardly mentally prepared for this. Nope! Hell, she could say that even the 'more experienced' Mina-chan was having the frights as they started to fight their way into the sudden invasion of plants that had struck the core of Tokyo. It didn't feel like the beginning of such final stand, yet... Usagi felt it deep inside that it was going to be big.
It didn't take her too long to find her gut feeling was true. Especially when she felt that very pressure that had crushed them back when Beryl appeared.
Back then, Moon Knight intervened and destroyed the witch, but... this was very different. She felt her energy getting drained, but her body fought back against this malevolent sensation. The blonde soon realized she was the only one managing to pull herself going through the horrible pressure.
Usagi was soon the only one standing. All monsters perished as her friends were suddenly forced out of their transformations and fell unconscious one by one. She couldn't blame them as the effects of this depraved drain were caused by something that was well above the current level of theirs:
The laughing that soon spread all over from the sky down to the ground was familiar in a ugly way. She remembered it, like a distant boogeyman that haunted her dreams when she was but a little child. And her gaze narrowed as she saw her - Metalia.
She was there, strong but not fully unleashed. The monstrous essence was coating the Earth as a whole, a desperate 'ego-driven inflation' that was spreading the Chaotic Creature thin before her own eyes. Every single drop of the blue sky was turned into a miserable dark purple- one that bore the bluish eyes and smile of a fragmented entity.
One that Usagi knew was her enemy but... even more. It wasn't just a matter of the present, it was a score left unsettled from the past. It was like a flash, her eyes widening some more as she felt her previous life trying to take over. To claim the duty as Princess of the Moon but-
That didn't work, didn't it?
Usagi's mind had grown more cynical in the last few months. Sure, she was still a klutz, but she was also aware that this magical girl business wasn't as simple as she wanted it to be. There was more than just 'let go' of the fear, there was more than just 'let go' of herself.
She couldn't give up what she was now so that someone else could do 'her job'. The past was the past, the naive princess could not gain a hold of her. For Usagi was Usagi.
She was Sailor Moon!
Metalia seemed to notice something was wrong when Usagi mustered what was held within her. The harsh truth she had ignored up until not. The guilt of the non-fight with Beryl still tainting her thoughts as she knew she had a duty.
She may not like it, and she may not feel ready for it. But Tsukino Usagi was not a quitter!
"METALIA!" Usagi boomed, her voice carrying true a strength unseen until now and she felt her form changing to adapt to her needs. She felt that this was more than she needed... yet not enough. She needed time to get all she needed to beat this monster. "I promise you, here and forever, that you will fail! Chaos shall never win!"
Lightning bolts of dark-pink color tried to strike her down as soon as she was done with her promise, but the girl crouched briefly and then... jumped up. The attack failed to reach her, but she didn't leave herself stunned in that polluted air, her mind growing more resolute as she felt the plan in mind was simple but... the right way.
She needed time - she needed to delay Metalia for as long as needed to get enough energy to blast the chaotic sun down without killing herself in the process. The thunderous assault continued some more, but Sailor Moon projected her newly-formed angelic wings to flap strongly and propel her forward and around. She didn't have a specific path to follow as her goal was just... dodge. And survive.
Usagi felt Metalia growing more impatient, even more as the Earth fought back with her attempt to drain it of energy. Somehow, the planet was reacting in a way unlike the one mustered when the Moon fell, its nature having long developed to be ready for this very day as it granted Usagi a single message as it gave her assistance by 'distracting' Metalia too.
Keep fighting, O Child of the Moon
Usagi held back a nod, but a smile appeared on her face as she felt like she could do it now more than ever. She felt her body channeling energy through the Silver Crystal, the powerful item that was the source of strength for the unique MOON was now slowly filtering into her mortal body.
Her transformed self may have significantly improved to handle the sudden energy-output, but the slow pace driven by her own limits was still delaying the closure of this dreadful monster. Metalia was fighting back, her awareness of what was going on growing as she felt the powerful concentration within Sailor Moon's frame.
Usagi scowled at how brightly her newly-created 'Silver Staff' was glowing, further damning her effort to not draw the Chaotic Sun's full attention on her.
Still, she felt relief washing over her as the power felt close to what she needed. Mustering her staff in front of her, Usagi pulled most of what she could find within her body to unleash the most powerful attack in her arsenal.
"People of Earth, of the Moon, of the Present, and of the Past! I present you the Liberation: Forever Moon Blast!"
Usagi's staff burned with eagerness as the girl unleashed a powerful beam of silver and gold. She expected Metalia to be caught off-guard by it, but, to her surprise, Metalia had suddenly condensed in a single spot and... mustered most of her own power to produce a beam of her own.
Black and purple, the attack slammed onto her Forever Moon Blast, clashing it to a earth-shattering stalemate. The pressure against her was intense, but Usagi kept up with the attack, hoping she could eventually outpower the parasite.
Despite her high hopes, her confidence was faltering as Metalia roared demonically, unwilling to be defeated-
"I WILL BE BORN! YOU WILL NOT STOP ME, CHILD OF THE MOON!"
Gritting her teeth, Usagi pushed with everything she got, but she was getting pushed back. Then...
"I am here!" Moon Knight exclaimed, readying a new sword and-
He unleashed a beam of his own to add to hers!
When I freed myself, I thought I would have found Kuroto in a similarly annoyed mood as I pulled the guy out of the shadowy cocoon.
Turns out that the bubble of darkness that took us both out had been trying to sap into our energy, but it worked just with Kuroto with how weakened he appeared to be as I pulled him out. The conversation with Queen Serenity and the awareness of what was going on pushed me to rapidly drag the boy back to the boat we used to make it to the ship and get back to the mainland.
Gritting my teeth, I saw the sky darkening and Metalia trying to drain energy from all but-
Warning! The [Earth] is fighting off the Invader's Draining Ability - all effects of Metalia's Draining Ability are currently nullified!
That was good. But it wasn't a permanent solution. I needed to get to Usagi. I could feel her already fighting against Metalia and I intended to help her. Not only because a damn mission was telling me-

But also because I wasn't letting Metalia get a chance to survive this one. And that little trick she played on me was worthy of retaliation. Once I docked from the same pier Kuroto and I took off, I left the boy to rest by the boat while I rushed through the streets and hooked my way around to intercept Usagi.
By the time I got to her, she had almost beaten Metalia.
In an unexpected turn of even, not only had Metalia clashed back against Usagi's attempt but... Usagi had changed during this fight. I could recognize the Eternal Form anywhere, I just didn't expect Usagi to use BS means of the Plot Armor to muster that kind of attack.
Metalia had definitely noticed and, rather than get too cocky, was using all of herself to push back the attack mustered by my sister. I still got close enough to Usagi, the girl too busy to notice me until I was beside her, my new sword unholstered and ready to strike.
- New Moon Sword (Short-/Long-Range Weapon- Effect(s) = When in use, you obtain a +25% ATK bonus; Unleash the power of your Inner Spirit!);
"I am here!"
And I am now going to use the newest ability in my arsenal courtesy of this pretty curved sword!
(Getsuga Tenshou) - Use SPs in conjuction with the New Moon Sword to unleash a powerful destructive beam. Damage Calculation: Used SP x (ATK/10).
Considering the overall situation which involved a Planetary Threat, I felt compelled to 'fuck it' and just use all my SP for this mighty attack.
"Getsuga... TENSHOU!" A beam of White and Gray exploded from the sword and added itself to Usagi's own attack. The size of it swelled due to my energy, now having the means to push back against Metalia and-
End her in a single barrage that scorched her into pure nothingness.
For a brief moment, I felt relief as the air felt clean once more. The city hardly looked damaged like last time, and no one seemed to have died in this rather dreadful occation but... I also got annoyed as I got a notification that miffed me a lot.
Warning! Due to the situation, Usagi is seen as the one that destroyed Metalia. No extra EXP shall be granted to you.
Oh, come on!
I was about to cuss at the Game before I heard Usagi giggle, and I turned to look at her.
"Hmm, you got there in time," She pointed out, smiling tiredly. "You... you are here. A-As you promised and..."
The girl twitched, almost falling off the building's edge we were standing on. I moved fast and caught her before she slipped away.
"W-Whoops."
"It's alright. Get rest. You won."
"I... I know. But... But my head hurts a bit."
"You just pulled destroyed a planetary threat, that I think can lead to some headaches."
She sighed tiredly against me and nuzzled her face against my mask through the hood.
"Hmm... your smell's... familiar."
I froze up as she said that, but Usagi fell asleep as she said that, her Eternal Form slipping away as I proceeded to get her back to the girls before leaving to get back home. They would wake up a bit before the rest, with the other scouts helping Usagi back home while I feigned being asleep by my desk when they arrived to the Tsukino household.
I saw Luna wandering near my room and then enter it before settling in my desk to rest there.
"Did you help her?"
I smiled.
"Of course. I am the Moon's Brother after all."
Meanwhile, somewhere in the United States...
"So, what's the report of the situation?" An old man asked, fixing his eyepatch as he stole a gaze from the pictures caught of several areas in Tokyo showing those 'magical girls fighting monsters' and also... 'Moon Knight'. "I doubt you just want to show me photoes I have already been shown."
"We may have some names to work with," The unnamed officer mumbled as he carried more files to the table, showing files about several girls that were located within the area of operation where these 'Sailor Scouts' would push back on those 'space invaders'. "Right now, it's only us that have a view on the matter."
The one-eyed old man nodded as he felt a hint of a smile perk at this good development. "How long before they start looking into this?"
"Two more hours by what our moles tell us. But we already expunged all data available on the case. They will chase shadows."
"Unlike us," The elder remarked, relief finally seeping in his old bones. "It's best we approach this carefully. We can't send too many to handle this investigation without drawing attention on it."
Leaning back, the one-eyed man fixed a frame by the desk. "I heard that Frank has been interested in Japanese traditions. See for him to be briefed on the matter- and perhaps put an extra ticket for Naomi. I believe these two can enjoy a vacation all the while doing this job."
As the officer nodded and was dismissed, the old man found himself alone in the office and he silently picked the picture showing this supposed masked vigilante at work through the streets of Tokyo.
Masked Heroes... what a peculiar concept.
AN
What a thrilling finale, wouldn't you say so?
Next up there will be two important arcs: 1) The Interlude Arc showing some other elements between Metal Gearverse and the Taimaverse; 2) The 'First Movie' arc in regard to this story - a 'temporary xover' will unfold but it will be all unfolding in an uncanon manner. Think of it as an 'Omake Arc' sort of deal, nothing to truly lose your shit about'.
