August 15th 2038…

It wasn't the first time… it wouldn't be the last.

But something snapped inside of her mind.

Finding Hank passed out on the floor after a long night, Leah grabbed the half empty whiskey and walked into the kitchen before she poured it down the drain as tears ran down her face.

She looked again at Hank as Sumo was peacefully sleeping… and Leah threw the whiskey bottle out before she looked into the fridge and found the rest of the alcohol.

Closing the fridge, Leah poured the beers out and threw the bottles away… and she got the trash bag out of the can, tying it and walking outside before she threw it in the trash can for the trash pickup.

She slammed the lid down as her tears turned to waterfalls… and the 19 year old made it to the stone steps before she sat down and sobbed as she wrapped her arms around herself.

Hearing whining and realizing she left the door cracked open when she felt Sumo nuzzling against her, Leah hugged him as Sumo licked her tears away and whined into her left shoulder.

Steadying her breathing with only her furry friend to comfort her, Leah let go and pulled herself up with Sumo's encouraging nudges… and the two walked back into the house, Leah locking the door after closing it.

Stirring into awareness, Hank rubbed his aching head and saw Leah putting a trash bag into the trash can before he managed to pull himself up and walk towards her… and he was caught off guard by Leah shoving a bottle of Ibuprofen and a cold pack into his hands before she stormed off into her room and slammed the door.

Hank looked at Sumo, who let out a disapproving grunt and he petted him.

"I think I really broke her heart this time, boy." Hank responded quietly.

Setting up a bubble bath consisting of a lavender and chamomile tea scented bath bomb and Epsom salts, Leah pulled her robe and pajamas off and pulled her hair into a messy bun before she got into the bath and leaned against the claw foot tub.

She closed her reddened eyes as more tears fell, Don't Cry by Guns N Roses playing on the nearby radio.

Memories of Hank being her best friend when she needed one and her uncle and father figure when he needed to be flooded her mind, memories of them, Cole, Seline and Gavin watching movies on the couch resurfaced… memories that once filled her heart with joy and fondness now broke her heart.

Memories she wished she could banish from her mind because remembering them were consistent reminders of Cole being gone...

Present time...

"Come on, kid, open the door! I've been out here for almost a half hour and Gavin took Sumo to the park so we can talk!"

Leah's eyes snapped open and she sat up, pulling herself up onto the edge of the tub before she got out and wrapped the towel around herself after drying off.

She drained the bath water, got into clean clothes and walked to her bedroom door before she unlocked and opened it… and Hank saw her reddened and puffy eyes.

"You look like hell." Hank responded.

"I could say the same thing about you. Have you sobered up yet?" Leah replied, Hank noticing the bitter tone in her voice.

"Kiddo, I know you're disappointed-" Hank started to say.

"I'm done, Hank! I'm done staying up every night, scared you won't wake up the next day!" Leah cut him off angrily, Hank realizing he had really hurt her this time.

"Was that you that poured my alcohol out?" Hank asked.

"And I'll damn well do it again and again until you fucking take the initiative to go get sober! I can't live like this, you can't live like this! Slowly killing yourself a little every day!" Leah responded.

"No… you don't get to be angry at me, Leah Elizabeth Anderson! I raised you when your mom was killed and your deadbeat dad dropped you off here! And you are not gonna fucking scare me out of dulling the pain!" Hank retorted.

"Cole would fucking hate what you've turned into!" Leah responded before she slammed the door.

Leah splashed water on her face and towel dried it before she put two of The Good Patch De-Puff patches on her under eyes, setting a timer for 15 minutes and stretching out on her bed.

When the timer went off, Leah pressed the button to silence it and she sat up and stood up.

She walked into the bathroom, pulled the patches off of her under eyes and threw them away before she carefully patted the remaining serum into the skin… and she washed her face with the Pacifica Glow Baby cleanser this time before she dried her face.

Following up with the lotion, serum drops and under eye cream, Leah closed the containers and looked in the mirror.

"Stop crying… no one cares anymore, they haven't for a long time." Leah responded bitterly to herself before she let her hair down and walked back into her room, curling up into her bed.

Hank walked into his room and grabbed some clean clothes before he decided to shave and clean off… and he dried off and got ready for the day.

"Fuck… I really broke my little girl's heart this time." Hank replied quietly.

Hearing the front door open, Hank walked into the living room and he saw Sumo and Gavin… and Hank crouched down, ignoring the crick in his spine and petting Sumo.

"Don't get old, Son." Hank responded to Gavin.

"Trying not to." Gavin replied before they sat down on the couch.

"Fucking hell, I really did it this time. Leah's completely fed up with my drinking." Hank responded.

Looking up at the ceiling, Leah turned onto her right side and saw a picture of her and Hank.

"Should've let you fall… and lose it all… so maybe you can remember yourself…" Leah sang softly.

She closed her eyes, too worn out to deal with anyone else.
