"Long ago, before you were born, little one. Not too far off from here, high in the mountains, are called the Lost Woods. Do you know why they call them that? Should any creature that ever go in there, get lost, they will never come back out the same again. You see, the woods change your appearance if you stay in it too long. There are beings that dwell there, dangerous monsters, who were less unfortunate, transformed into such creatures. Skull children, Deku scrubs, and Stalfos.

There was a little girl, just about your age, who didn't listen and disregarded the warnings. She didn't believe in such things. She was almost one of unlucky ones who didn't make it back out. But, someone helped her.

There was a strange child, a boy. His entire body was turned into wood becoming a part of the forest. However, he was cursed by the woods and became a skull kid. Frozen in time, no longer able to age ever again. He was mischievous, curious, loved music as he played with it on his flute, and definitely most of all, loved to play pranks.

The two used to play and make music together until the stars were in the skies before it was time for her to go back home. He was always sad to see the girl leave as he didn't have anyone but himself. So she promised the skull kid that she would come back to see him every day.

Day after day, true to her word, the girl kept her promise to visit him and play together. But, one day, the girl didn't come. The skull kid waited, and waited...and waited.

Sadly, the girl never came.

She wasn't able to keep her promise because she and her family had to move. The girl felt terrible every day, for the rest of her life, not being able to keep the promise that she made to the skull kid."

A young woman, who looked no more than sixteen, stood at the entrance to the woods. Her skin was tanned from the sun, pointed ears and rounded face, her hair was tied up into a braided ponytail. She had sky blue eyes, wearing a dark green cloak over her, light blue long sleeved shirt and dark brown tights, travel bag tied to her side, and shoes. She stared hesitantly into the deep and dark mist shrouding the forest before she grasped her locket around her neck. It belonged to her grandmother before she passed.

"I promise, grandma. I will find him and I will keep your promise."
