Part 5
The man looked her in the eye and caressed the side of her face.
For a moment, she felt intimidated by the intensity and longing she saw in his eyes.
"I love you, Ashley Hale."
She shivered as the warm breath from his words touched her skin. His words were filled with gentleness and love.
Unable to take the weight of his feelings, she pulled away from him only for him to grab her wrist.
"Don't do this, I love you…"
"I'm-I'm sorry." The words sounded foreign coming out of her mouth.
"Tell me," Peter slowly released her. "Did you ever love me? Ever see me as a man?"
She glanced at him sadly.
"Forget it. Your face says it all." He turned away from her as she left.
Cara woke up and sat up in her bed. A tear rolled down her cheeks as she remembered her dream. She didn't recognize the man but she felt incredibly moved by his words.
Who was the man in her dream? Why did he stir up such feelings in her?
And who was Ashley Hale?

Everything was falling into place now. The break in. The accidents.
The only other person who knew about the bracelet was Boyd. The boy had been there with him when he had gone back to the Nemeton. The boy knew he found Ashley's memento and had kept it. No wonder Boyd had been acting skittish.
The question was why?
Someone must be forcing Boyd to do it. Derek concluded.
Now that he thought about it, Derek hasn't seen Erica in a while. Could something have happened to the girl? Was Boyd being forced by someone because of Erica?
But who?
The only person that comes to mind was Peter.
Peter would be the only other person interested in Ashley's bracelet.
As he pondered about these things, his phone rang.
"Hello Derek," As if on cue, he heard Peter's smug voice on the other line. "We need to talk."
"Peter," Derek answered. It was all making sense now. "It was you, wasn't it? The break-ins? The attacks?"
"Yes."
"Why?" Derek growled softly.
"Why? Why you ask?!" Peter let out a sinister laugh before answering in a serious tone. "Because you let her die."
There was no need to ask who she was. They both knew who Peter was referring to.
"You let her die," Peter continued angrily. "Then you forgot about her and went on with your lives as if it was nothing!"
"That's not true!" Derek said in defense. "I still remember her! I still feel the pain of losing her!"
Each time he said I, he thumped his heart with his clenched fist to emphasized his point.
Then there was silence. It went on for a few minutes and Derek thought his uncle might have hung up.
"It doesn't matter. I'm going to make every single one of you pay for what you did to Ashley."
"What happened with Ashley is not their fault!" Derek clutched the phone furiously.
"No, it's not." Peter replied coldly. "It's yours."
And with that he hung up.
