Ruby
Ruby was trying to convince herself that she had dreamed this whole thing up. It was hard though. Every single second, it seemed like, every fox would come up to her and say 'I'm sorry for your loss' It would help if Ruby wouldn't be reminded of it every time a fox passed her. In fact everyone was acting as though she were a pup, being so sympathetic towards her. Even they all knew that she wasn't that close to Cherry. As she stepped out of her den, she braced herself. But everyone was too busy talking to one another to notice her. What's going on? She wondered. Ruby had to strain her ears to hear what they were saying. "Did you hear the news?" Flame was saying to Watermelon. "Yes! I can't believe it! Do you think Cranberry will accept? I mean what is so important that Jay has to talk to Cranberry?" Did Jay ask Cranberry to meet him somewhere? Maybe to ask about the food storages. Maybe Cranberry will accept, because of Cherry and the lack of food. She secretly hoped he would accept. She wanted to know what he would tell Jay. "I bet he'll accept. He probably wants to ask about C-" Flame was interrupted, when Cranberry let out a sharp bark. Ruby scrambled over to Cranberry and watched intently. "I have decided. I will be going to Rock Lake tomorrow, to discuss the food shortages and maybe," he paused looking at Ruby. Ruby looked at her paws. "Cherry's death" Ruby felt her fur grow hot, as many other foxes gave her sympathetic looks. "You are all dismissed" Ruby silently padded back to her den and sat inside. While she hated the looks from all the foxes, she did miss Cherry. They might have not been too close, but they always talked to each other. Sighing, she sat down and put her head on her paws, wondering who killed Cherry, and with a flash of fear, if they were coming for her next…
