Chapter Nine: Falling into the Outlands
Mzingo and his vultures were terrorizing a family of baboons in their tree. Kion quickly formulated a plan.
Kion: "Alright, Ono, try to intercept the vultures." He commanded.
Ono: "Affirmative." He replied, taking to the sky.
Kion: "Bunga, Beshte, you two help the baboons." He continued.
Bunga: "You got it, Kion." He responded.
Beshte: "Leave it to us." He added as they both went to save the baboons.
Kion: "Fuli, you and I are going to do the best we can to help since we're tied together." He said in a firm tone, turning to Fuli.
Fuli: "Fine, whatever you say, Kion." She replied, still irritated.
Kion: "Okay, Fuli, on my mark we're gonna—" He started, but Fuli ended up pulling him to do it her way.
Kion: "Ow, Fuli, I told you to follow the plan!" He protested.
Fuli: "I know what I'm doing. Besides, I don't have to listen to you!" She shot back.
Kion angrily pulled Fuli's tail really hard.
Fuli: "Ow! Kion, stop pulling my tail!" She yelled.
Kion: "How about you stop pulling my tail!" Kion countered.
They were too busy arguing and pulling on each other's tails that they left Bunga, Beshte, and Ono to fight the vultures and save the baboons.
Bunga: *sighs heavily * "I still can't believe they're still fighting, after all we did trying to help them." He sighed.
Ono: "They just can't catch a break. And they're leaving us to do all the work while they're too busy fighting." "This might as well be the end of their friendship." He added.
Beshte: "Even though we're mad at them right now, I'm still holding out hope that they will work it out." He said optimistically.
Bunga took down Mwoga, Beshte took down another vulture, and Ono dealt with the last one.
Bunga: "It's okay, baboons. You're all safe now." He reassured them.
The baboons hooted in thanks. From a distance, Mzingo saw Kion and Fuli fighting and arguing with their tails tied together.
Mzingo: "Ha! Looks like Kion and Fuli seem to be a bit tied up," He laughed. He then whispered a devious plan to his vulture cronies to lure them to the cliff nearby.
Mzingo: "Let's lure both Kion and Fuli down that cliff." He instructed. His parliament nodded in agreement.
Mzingo and his vultures started to push Kion and Fuli toward the cliff.
Fuli: "Shoo!" She shouted.
Kion: "Get away!" He added.
The vultures kept pushing them back until they both fell and tumbled down the cliff into The Outlands.
Kion and Fuli: "Ahhhhhhhh!" They both screamed as they fell.
Ono: *gasps* "Hapana!" He gasped.
Bunga: "Kion!" He shouted.
Beshte: "Fuli!" He exclaimed.
They raced over to see if their friends were okay.
Ono: "Hey, guys! Are you okay?" He called down.
Kion: "Yeah, we're okay!" He replied.
Fuli: "But it's a long way back up." She added, looking up the steep cliff.
Bunga then came up with one final plan to get Kion and Fuli to make amends with each other.
Bunga: "Guys, what if we leave Kion and Fuli in the Outlands so that they find their way out?" He said softly.
Ono: "This could be our last chance for them to make up." He agreed.
Beshte: "Yeah, let's just hope it works this time." He said.
Bunga: "Hey, Kion, Fuli! Since you're both down there, you both have to find your way out!" He shouted down to them.
Fuli: "Bunga, you're kidding, right?!" She yelled back.
Ono: "I'm afraid he's not kidding, Fuli!" He confirmed.
Beshte: "You both will have to work things out down there!" He added.
Kion: "You can't be serious?!" He exclaimed.
With smiles on their faces, Bunga, Ono, and Beshte left.
Kion: "Guys, come back here!" He called after them.
Fuli: "Bunga, I swear, I'm going to hurt you when I get up there!" She shouted, frustration evident in her voice.
They both looked at each other with scowls as they began their journey through The Outlands.
