Last time, the children found themselves out in the ocean. Upon their arrival, they were attacked. The children met with a group of pirates with their captain being Olegmon. These pirates ended up being friendly, and are in the middle of a treasure hunt. On their way to find treasure, they ran across MetalSeadramon. He too was after the trouble, so the children decided to work with the pirates to get the treasure before the Dark Masters. That could end up leading them to treasure.

Riddle for the Treasure
just as they found the island that might hold the treasure, they might not even make it as they're about to steer right into some whirlpools.
"Olegmon, stop the ship! We're about to steer right into whirlpools!" Benson called.
"I see them!" Olegmon called. "Turn the ship to port side and drop the anchor before we get too close!" His crew acted fast. They turned the ship to make it easier to resist the current so they don't get pulled into the whirlpools. They also dropped down the anchors and was able to stop them from going any further. Luckily, it worked and they were able to stop the ship.
"Yikes. Good thing we saw those in time or the ship would have been torn apart." Natalie said.
"But now what are we going to do?" Musuko said. The island is on the other side of the whirlpools. MetalSeadramon could already be here and is that much closer to it."
"Without the map, he'll never find it." Hookmon said. "One has to solve the riddles to make it to the treasure."
"Hang on. What did the first riddle say again?" Patamon questioned. "Didn't it say something about the sea dragging you down? Well, it sure looks like that's what the whirlpools are trying to do." When Patamon mentioned that, they all realized the truth.
"You're right, Patamon!" Biyomon said. "The first riddle was talking about the whirlpools! What did the rest of it say?"
"Look for the path is clear. Move like a serpent, unless you be swimming with the fishes." Hookmon read.
"If the whirlpools are trying to drag us down, the rest of the riddle must be talking about a path that can take us through the whirlpools and to the island." Natalie said.
"Move like a serpent? Isn't a serpent a snake?" Koji asked.
"Right, but how does that help?" Gatomon questioned. "I think we might need a higher view on this. Patamon and Biyomon, fly up as high as you can. See if you can spot anything." Biyomon and Patamon did just that as they flew up and tried to spot something that might help.
"All I see are a bunch of whirlpools." Patamon said. How is anyone suppose to get around those things?"
"There must be a way to..." Biyomon tried to think until she noticed something in the water. There was a space between the whirlpools that looked like a path bending like a snake. "That's it!" She flew back down to tell the others what they saw. "There's a path through the whirlpools that moves in the pattern of a snake. That must be the safe way that gets through the whirlpools."
"Are you sure, Biyomon?" Natalie questioned
"That has to be the right way." Musuko said. "If we follow that path, we can get through the whirlpools."
"I don't know. That sounds dangerous. Can't we just have our digimon carry us and fly us over to the island?" Mason questioned.
"We can't. We wouldn't be able to take Olegmon, and he could help us." Musuko said.
"That's right. This captain is seeking this adventure to the very end." Olegmon said. "If this riddle tells us what to do, we take it. You kids better get below deck for your own safety. We are pulling on ahead." Sounds like it's going to be a rough ride, but they have to push on ahead and get the treasure before the Dark Masters do. All of the kids got below deck and readied themselves for this.
"Raise the anchor! Full speed ahead!" Hookmon called. They went on ahead and started to steer through the path that Biyomon pointed out. Now that they could see the path, they tried to steer the ship through the whirlpools. It did feel like a rough ride with currents pulling against the ship, but it was holding. It was a hard ride, but they had the ship move like a serpent and it was able to make it through.
"Almost... There! We made it!" Olegmon called as they were able to make it through and reached the island.
"Wow! That really worked!" Benson said with amazement.
"Nice work, Biyomon and Patamon. We wouldn't have gotten through without your quick thinking." Veemon said.
"It looks like we're going to have to walk it from here." Olegmon said. "That treasure is here, and we'll find it."
"Where do we go from here?" Mason questioned. Hookmon pulled out the map for the next riddle.
"Upon entering the island, look towards the sand and the trees." Hookmon read. "Split the two to head for the next clue."
"Look towards the sand and the trees..." Benson said as he thought it over. He looked towards where the trees are and where the beach is. He looked around and spotted something. He jumped off the ship and hurried over. He moved some bushes and found a clear path. "Over here! I found a hidden path!"
"Nice work, Benson! That treasure is ours!" Musuko said as they were on a roll. What they didn't know was that MetalSeadramon was already at the island. He was by a different part of the island and was spying on them, getting ready to make his move against the kids.
"Are you working or having a day at the beach? You should have at least invited me." MetalSeadramon looked at the beach and saw Puppetmon was there.
"What are you doing here? I can handle this." MetalSeadramon claimed.
"Why should you have all the fun?" Puppetmon said.
"Well, I've got this. Those kids are here, but I'm going to show them what a mistake that coming here was." MetalSeadramon claimed.
"What?! Those brats are here?! Are they going after the treasure?" Puppetmon said.
"They are, but I'll take care of them." MetalSeadramon said as he was getting ready to attack.
"Wait! I have a better idea!" Puppetmon claimed. "I think we should have them do all the work for us. Then, when they find the treasure for us, we take it from them. They do all the work, and we swipe in and take it."
"You have splinters for brains, but that's actually a great idea." MetalSeadramon claimed as he liked the sound of that.
...
The Digidestined
Accompanied by Olegmon and Hookmon, the kids continue their search for the children. They followed the trail that Benson found, but there hasn't been any sign of the treasure just yet. They all kept going until they found a fork in the road.
"Which way? Left or right?" Natalie questioned.
"Let's just split-up and go both ways." Biyomon said. If one of us is wrong, we can just come back and take the other path."
"Or that could be a waste of time." Olegmon said. "Without the map, we'll never find the treasure, and we only have the one. Besides, we don't know if we're on the right path."
"But it sounds rather simple." Palmon said.
"Wait. It's not as simple as that." Hookmon claimed. "There's another riddle, and it seems like this is it."
"What does it say?" Koji asked.
"Path split into two, but neither is true. To the the path that is true, follow the watchmen's eyes. What can be true is what we do not see." Hookmon read.
"That used "true" a lot. So what is true?" Mason questioned.
"I thought treasure hunting would be more fun, not all this thinking." Musuko said.
"Adventure comes as you see it." Olegmon said. "Even if it might not seem fun, you can always find something new. Now, as for the riddle, let's just simply break it into parts and have it figured out."
"Break it into parts... it said the path split in two, but neither is true. Does that mean neither path is the right path?" Benson said.
"It also mentioned something about watchmen, but what are those?" Natalie questioned as she leaned against something.
"Watchmen are usually those who are on guard, or something that watches over another." Olegmon claimed. "The riddles won't be so literal. What we have to do is find something that looks like it has eyes. Something that appears to have a stare."
"Okay, so what around here looks like it has eyes?" Veemon questioned as they all looked around for anything.
"This one might be tough. I don't see anything that looks like eyes." Mason said as none of them saw anything.
"Let's try getting a better look." Gatomon said as she tried climbing up what she thought was a rock. As she made her way up, her claws knocked off some plants and she found something. "What's this?" She clawed away more plants and saw a face in a stone.
"Did you find something?" Koji asked.
"I think so, but there should be more than one. Does anyone else see another of what I'm standing on!" Gatomon asked.
"Right here." Olegmon said as he found the same thing.
"Same here. I thought it was just a rock." Natalie said as she realized the answer was right next to her. Gatomon cleared off the tops and revealed the faces.
"The watchmen!" Gatomon said as she realized this had to be it. "Which ways are the eyes facing?" All of them tried to get a look at the eyes and saw they all converged at one point, right down the middle of the two paths. "That's got to be the way to go."
"Through there? It's just a bunch of plants." Palmon said.
"That's what makes it a perfect path. It's least likely to be taken!" Musuko said as he could figured it out. It boggles the mind that he he did.
"That surprisingly makes sense." Natalie said as all of them got moving through the plants. What none of them noticed was that there was a set of sparkles in the air. What is that about?
...
The Mountain
All of them kept moving until they reached the base of the mountain. They all made their way through the plants and soon found something very unusual. They soon came across a giant gate right in the base with a series of keys with different shapes of colors right in it.
"What is all this?" Natalie questioned.
"The treasure must be behind this door." Biyomon said.
"Sweet!" Veemon said as he hurried over and tried to push the gate open, but it wouldn't even budge open. "Why won't it move?!"
"Probably because it's a giant gate and you're puny. It also might be locked since it has tons of keys in it." Gatomon said like that should have been obvious.
"One of these keys must open it up, but which one?" Patamon questioned.
"There's also a lot. What if we have to turn more than one? What's the order?" Palmon said.
"This must be tied to the final riddle." Hookmon said as he looked it over. "As the stars guide the way, find the key for the treasure you seek. Only in sync will it be yours and not your doom."
"Stars? Do we have to be here until night?" Koji questioned.
"I don't think so." Gatomon said. "Look at the keys. There is many different kinds with different shapes. Maybe we need the one shaped like a star."
"I already found it!" Mason said as he spotted a pink key shaped like a star. "The treasure is ours." He grabbed the key and began to turn it. However, they all heard a sound. They looked up and saw what appeared to be a rock slide about to start.
"Put it back! Put it back!" Benson frantically said with Mason trying to turn the key back. Olegmon helped out and put the key back in place. "What happened?"
"I think we found what "doom" in the riddle meant." Olegmon said. "We need to turn the right keys in the right way or we're going to have a rock slide."
"But we turned the key with a star." Musuko said.
"The riddle said "in sync". That means at the same time." Hookmon said. "There must be more than one that we have to turn at the same time."
"Over here! I found it!" Patamon called as he found an identical key. Finding the other one, they grabbed the keys and turned them at the same time. That seemed to be the answer as the gate was opening up and they could see the cavern ahead.
"It's done! I thank you, kiddies. The treasure be ours!" Olegmon said as the treasure was just ahead of them.
"Wrong. It's ours." They all turned around and saw MetalSeadramon and Puppetmon standing there.
"The Dark Masters!" Natalie said.
"We should have known you weren't far!" Benson claimed.
"Thanks for finding the treasure for us. We'll be taking it now." Puppetmon claimed as they planned to do just that.
...
Next time, the children fight off against the Dark Masters. However, they're now down by one. Luckily, they'll have help from a pirate with a heart of gold.
