How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty played on the radio as Hank stopped the car and put it in park before he turned the engine off as the three heard the rain hitting the roof of the car… and Hank and Leah unbuckled before they got out, walking across the street until Hank pulled Leah out of the way to keep her from getting hit by an autonomous taxi.

"Whoa! Hey! Hey! Hey!" Hank yelled at the vehicle though it did no good as Connor got out of the car.

Connor walked to Leah and checked on her as Hank walked to the Chicken Feed.

"Hey, Hank. How you doing?" Gary greeted.

"Eh, same old shit." Hank answered.

"Plastic with you and the kid?" Gary asked.

"Only temporary." Hank explained as Leah walked to Gary.

"Your usual grilled chicken salad and iced green tea, kiddo?" Gary questioned.

"Yes please." Leah replied, Hank letting out a low snort.

"Eat a burger for once, kid." Hank responded.

"Just for that, I'm ordering dinner tonight for both of us." Leah replied, Hank rolling his eyes as Gary handed Leah's meal and drink to her. "Thanks, Gary." She responded before she and Connor walked to a table.

Leah set her food and drink down before she opened her Hum Flatter Me and got one of the supplements out.

Swallowing it, she closed the bottle and put it in her pocket before she started eating as Hank saw Pedro and greeted him.

Scanning his surroundings, Connor saw that Gary's food hygiene license hadn't been renewed since 2031 and walked back to Hank as Pedro was leaving and walking to Leah.

"Hank won't regret it, I'll be back with double the money afterwards." Pedro explained after he and Leah hugged for a few seconds and he left.

'Probably shouldn't say that to a cop.' Leah thought.

Irritated with Connor, Hank turned to him.

"What is your problem? Don't you ever do as you're told? Look, you don't have to follow me around like a poodle!" Hank responded in an exasperated tone.

"I'm sorry for my behavior back at the police station. I didn't mean to be unpleasant." Connor explained.

Rolling his eyes, Hank chuckled half heartedly.

"Oh wow… you've even got a brown-nosing apology program. Guys at CyberLife thought of everything, huh?" Hank responded before Gary handed him his burger and drink.

"Here you go." Gary stated.

"Thanks, Gary, I'm starving." Hank responded before he turned to walk towards Leah.

"Don't leave that thing here!" Gary replied as he motioned to Connor, Hank turning to him as Leah dropped her plastic fork.

Turning angry, Leah tossed her half eaten salad and tea into the garbage before she walked to Gary.

"I could've sworn you were one of the few sane people in Detroit but you're just as unstable and unhinged as the health department inspector said when he filed his report." Leah spoke up, Gary narrowing his eyes at her and trying to speak up but she put her right hand up. "You chose to be rude, now it's my fucking turn! You know who else called you unstable?! Your ex wife when you tried to have Gavin and Chris kick her out of the house she owns! So you really have no ground to stand on and look down on anyone, human or android!" She explained.

"Fucking children these days!" Gary muttered before he decided to close the windows and shutters after sticking an On Break, Fuck Off! sign on one of them and left.

Leah guided Connor over to the table she and Hank were at and Hank was in disbelief.

"Kid! What the hell?!" Hank replied.

"Bastard deserved it, he's always running his fucking mouth." Leah responded.

"I don't know where you learned to talk to people like that…" Hank muttered as he drank his soda.

"You raised me. That's where I learned it from." Leah explained.

Scanning the burger, Connor turned to Hank.

"Your meal contains 1.4 times the recommended daily intake of calories and twice the cholesterol level. You shouldn't eat that." Connor responded.

"Everybody's gotta die of something." Hank explained before he took another bite of his burger and We Didn't Start The Fire by Fall Out Boy played on a nearby radio.

"This morning, when we were chasing those deviants… why didn't you want us to cross the highway?" Connor asked.

"Because you could've been killed!" Hank responded before he could stop himself. "And I don't like filling out paperwork for damaged equipment." He explained as he looked at Connor before he finished his burger and threw the box away.

"Is there anything you'd like to know about me?" Connor questioned.

"Hell no!" Hank responded before he thought of it. "Well, yeah, um... why did they make you look so goofy and give you that weird voice?" He asked.

"CyberLife androids are designed to work harmoniously with humans. Both my appearance and voice were specifically designed to facilitate my integration." Connor explained.

"Well they fucked up." Hank muttered. "You ever dealt with deviants before?" He asked.

His LED turning yellow and then red as the night of the hostage situation replayed through his mind, Connor looked at Hank.

"A few months back… a deviant had threatened to jump off a roof with a little girl. The little girl escaped because your niece shot the deviant and the deviant shot your niece. I don't know why but… I chose to save her life." Connor explained as his LED turned back to blue, Hank looking at Leah.

"You didn't tell me an android saved your life, Babydoll." Hank responded.

"You didn't ask." Leah replied before Hank turned back to Connor.

"So, I guess you've done all your homework, right? Know everything there is to know about me and my niece?" Hank asked.

"I know you two graduated top of your respective classes. You've made a name for yourself in several cases, and became the youngest lieutenant in Detroit while she's trying to make a name for herself on the force so the other officers won't just see her as your kid. I also know you've received several disciplinary warnings in recent years and you spend a lot of time in bars." Connor explained.

"So what's your conclusion?" Hank responded.

"I think working with officers with personal issues is an added challenge, but adapting to human unpredictability is one of my features." Connor replied before his LED turned yellow and Leah turned her head to the side as she thought he had winked at her.

After a few seconds of silence, Connor turned to Leah.

"I just got a report of a suspected deviant. It's a few blocks away. We should go have a look." Connor explained before he looked at Hank, who handed the car keys to Leah. "We'll be in the car if you need us." He responded before he and Leah walked to the car.

Connor opened the driver's side door and Leah got into the driver's seat before she put her Hum Flatter Me supplements in the glove box and she turned the car on as Private Dancer by Tina Turner played on the radio.

Connor crouched down to her before they looked at each other, his right hand resting on her left shoulder.

"The suspected deviant was last seen at the abandoned apartment complex under the Detroit Urban Farm." Connor explained quietly. "Why did you never tell him about me saving your life that night?" He whispered as Leah rested her left hand on his right hand.

"It wouldn't have changed how he feels towards androids." Leah spoke softly before Connor stood up and Leah looked away and buckled up as Hank walked to them.

Once all three were in the car, Leah pulled back into traffic as It's Only Love by Bryan Adams and Tina Turner played and she drove to the apartment complex before she parked the car, shifted the gear shift into park and turned the radio and engine off before they got out of the car.

Hank looked back at Leah and Connor as the three walked into the building… and he had a feeling they were getting too close to each other.
