(Is there something unusual about the name Hewlett Alder- look!) Ax exclaimed, cutting himself off before he could articulate a question that would take more time to explain than it seemed like they had. (A new human is entering the room, and I believe he is familiar.)
(Really?) she paced across the windowsill, looking into the room as the man Marco and Ax seemed so worried about.
(Shara, contact Jake and the others!) Marco shouted. (Tell them that Visser Three is here, in his human morph!)
(Right,) she said, watching as the newcomer – who was apparently Visser Three – came into the hospital room. (Jake, Marco says that Visser Three is here. He's in human morph, and he seems to be particularly interested in Mr. Aldershot. You guys might want to meet up with the rest of us here.)
Jake and the others were too far away for their thought-speak to reach back to her, but she suspected that if there was any truly important message that Jake wanted them to have, he'd give it to Slade to relay to them.
(So, Visser Three in human morph,) Marco said, sounding unsettled. (Definitely something major going on.)
Tilting her head, as she saw Visser Three demorphing into what looked like an older Andalite, Shara couldn't help but wonder what his ultimate goal would end up being.
(He is very sure that he's safe in this place,) Ax said, the usual flatness of thought-speak giving way to a vague impression of unease. (Otherwise, he would never demorph like this.)
(The doctors aren't happy, though,) Marco said, seeming about as unsettled as Ax did.
(I gave orders that this human be cured!) Visser Three snarled, the blade at the tip of his tail pressed firmly to the throat of the doctor closest to him. (There is no point placing one of our people in his head if he's unable to move!) Being unable to read lips, Shara didn't know just what the doctor being held hostage said in response, but Visser Three didn't take it well: (I don't care about his brain stem, I want him repaired! Do you have any idea how useful this human would be to us? He is the number two man in the organization that guards their president. He would have access to half the secrets on the planet! That is why I arranged for him to be injured and brought here.)
(So, we have Visser Three here now,) Jake said, and Shara turned slightly to watch as he and Cassie swooped past them, Slade following quickly in their wake. (What's he doing?)
(The Visser is busy terrorizing a pair of human-Controller doctors,) Ax reported.
(You leave me with no choice,) Visser Three said, withdrawing his tail-blade as the doctor he'd been threatening crumpled bonelessly to the ground. (If I can't use this human as a host, I'll have to acquire him as a morph. I can hardly spend all my time in his form, but using him I can get close to his superior and seize her instead!) The sole standing doctor said something, then, and Visser Three knocked him to the floor in what seemed to Shara like a fit of spite. (Don't tell me it's all worked out for the best,) Visser Three snapped. (I still want this human repaired. Three days from now, this human had better be well, or neither of you are ever going to recover.)
Blinking, as she suddenly found herself scrutinized by the eyes that Visser Three had on the end of the snail-like stalks growing out of his head, Shara had only a few, long moments to wonder just what was going on, before something erupted through the window with the force of a thrown cinderblock. Hopping as quickly as she could, Shara found herself clinging to the back of whatever kind of alien bird it was that Visser Three had just morphed into.
(Shara! Shara, are you all right?!) Cassie called, a thread of worry suffusing her otherwise flat thought-speak.
(Jesus holy fuck!) Shara exclaimed, as she was slammed by Visser Three's sudden acceleration. (I'm all right, Cassie,) she continued, once she'd managed to regain her composure. (It just rattled me, a bit.)
Stuck clinging to the back of whatever alien bird Visser Three had chosen to morph, Shara forced her eyes to focus past the shearing wind. The sight of one of her fellow Animorphs let Shara know that she hadn't been the only one targeted by Visser Three. Or, maybe she hadn't been the Visser's target at all.
