Eventually had finally come.

Elaine and Corene were peering around a corner at Harry and a few of his friends as they walked through Hogwarts' halls, a prank already set in motion which the boys were walking towards. It'd work wonders should things finally go right for them, which Elaine figured was owed to them by this point.

"Ready?" Elaine had one hand on her wand and the other grasping one of Corene's hands; her baby cousin had to stay close, and what better way to ensure that then by having hold of her?

Corene gave a nod. "Ready."

Elaine shot her darling cousin a smile and peered around the corner alongside her. Corene followed suit, her head right below that of Elaine's as the pair watched from the shadows as the boys drew ever closer. There wasn't much time left before they'd have to cast.

She took in a breath and steadied her wand, and then, the boys tripped the trap… but Harry had fallen behind, tripping over his own feet. That little happenstance saved him from the ward they'd set, and so he was the only one that remained on his feet.

And he was the only one that remained with his natural hair colour.

The rest of their plan fell through given that all what they'd hoped to do to garner his attention had been wasted on the idiots he'd been walking with. It was frustrating to no end, and so Elaine and Corene raced away from their spot hidden in an alcove as they'd been.

"Again." Elaine huffed.

Corene agreed, though her tone wasn't filled with annoyance. It was rather neutral, if anything. "Again."

Later that very same evening, Corene and Elaine had only just finished their meal and departed from the Great Hall. Their new plan was a simple one; wait outside the aforementioned Great Hall, disillusioned or in the shadows if the former proved too difficult for both to manage for an extended period of time, and from there, strike Harry with two spells.

One would see him stuck to the wall, unable to move.

The other would have him dressed in Slytherin robes with a heart upon the chest of said robes. One in which Elaine's and Corene's initials would be written in.

That'd get their message across to any other witch that attempted to steal his affection from them, and it'd be quite enjoyable so long as they weren't caught.

Elaine narrowed her eyes and peered around the place. Were anybody else nearby and laying in wait much like they were, Elaine would curse them regardless of the number — were it Abraxas, maybe she'd even go so far as to send him to the Hospital Wing. His pranks had a knack for going a step too far when it came to Harry.

That was something she couldn't allow.

"Coming." Corene nodded towards the entrance where, sure enough, their Harry was coming. "Good?"

Elaine dipped her head as she readjusted the grasp she had over her wand. Her heart was hammering — by Morgana, the thrill of the hunt was getting to her. "Good."

He drew closer and closer to where they laid in wait, until, finally, he reached the spot which the pair had agreed upon. As soon as that occurred, each fired off a spell…right as two older boys appeared before them. They were the Twins from the Prewett or Weasley family, and while it seemed like they were planning their own prank, well, it wouldn't come to fruition.

Not before they were stuck to the wall in Harry's place. Of course, seeing as the two that manifested from thin air and how they ate the spells which weren't meant for them, Elaine and Corene withdrew again. Neither cast the spell that would see a heart form upon the robes of the twins; neither was remotely comparable to Harry, and so neither deserved such a token of affection.

As for Harry himself, he was left looking at the two boys stuck to the wall with a furrowed brow.

It was very amusing.

Elaine tapped her fingers idly atop the desk which she was seated at. Thus far, not one single plan had worked that she and Corene had cooked up. For one reason or another, they were interfered upon by peers, either those that also wished to prank their Harry, or those that were simply caught in the crossfire.

It'd begun to make Elaine wonder if he had some sort of innate sense when it came to magic. If that wasn't the case, she'd be very surprised… but it wouldn't help him when it came to a plan that was simple and perfect, and best of all, not prone to failure in any capacity.

It was this plan that led them to where they currently were in the bowels of Hogwarts where house elves oft kept to; the laundry room. Inside of that space, every single student at Hogwarts had their clothing washed, dried and given extra care per article if needed. The plan they'd concocted cut out the need to get Harry altogether.

Her and Corene would find his clothing, customise it, and return back whence they'd come — it was simple, short, and wouldn't allow whatever luck he had to factor into the results. In other words, it would succeed where all other works had failed, and maybe afterwards, when this was a victory for the pair, they'd be able to pull a real prank off.

Patience would be the key, but Elaine did so hate being patient. She was a creature of impulse. It was her darling little cousin Corene that could wait for however long was necessary without so much as a huff of complaint all the while.

"You're certain you know where to look?" Elaine asked, her eyes peering past Corene as she looked at the gaggle of house elves going about their business.

"Gryffindor. Boys," Corene pointed to a sign. "They sort by year and initials."

Elaine followed where Corene was pointing, and saw just what she meant. Sure enough, Corene was right. It was strange to think the house elves needed such organisational methods given how quickly their work went by, but were there Magicals or delays in the process, she supposed it made sense; it was certainly better than having no organisation or appearing messy whilst knowing where everything was.

By Morgana, did that irk her. Aster and Reinhard were repeat offenders despite the words she'd given them.

"The house elves won't mind our presence?" Elaine looked away from Corene to the little creatures as they milled about. She'd never so much as spoken to them before, but she'd heard of their loyalty to their masters and the efficiency of their work were they trained correctly.

Corene shook her head. "Father's on the board. He counts as an owner and the power is extended unto me, and I extend it unto you."

"Favouritism," Elaine said with a grin. "How wondrous."

"Agreed." Corene cocked her head. "When it's in our favour."

At that, Elaine tutted and wrapped a hand around one of Corene's. "It'll always be in our favour, have no doubt about that."

The pair shared a look, and then stepped into the room completely, no longer watching the house elves as they worked. Elaine stretched her arms and legs, enjoying the sensation before she headed to the area which Corene had indicated with the aforementioned girl by her side. In no time at all, they reached the specific section for Gryffindor boys and a minute afterwards, found the clothes Harry had left for the house elves to wash.

Elaine wrinkled her nose when she smelt his Quidditch uniform. It was sweaty, with a small bit of grass and dirt smeared across a portion of it. Undoubtedly from one of the falls he'd had whilst practising various manoeuvres near to the ground… not that she and Corene ever watched him from a hidden cubby in the stands.

They'd never do that.

"You do the robes and shirts, I've got the pants and undergarments."

Corene's answer to such words was like any other. "Understood."

And so the pair got to work, leaving behind heart after heart with their initials therein on each and every article of clothing. Elaine even went so far as to intermingle green and red together along some of his pants rather than that which they'd initially decided on of pure green — those Gryffindor traits of his weren't entirely bad.

Bravery was chivalrous, and Elaine did so fancy a boy that could be as such, and there was only one boy who spoke to her and Corene without worry. Only one that would be mad enough to stand atop his broom dozens, if not hundreds of metres in the air. He almost seemed as mad as she could be.

It was a perfect match.

"Finished." Corene stowed her wand and looked over at Elaine.

"So am I," Elaine set down the last pair of pants she'd fixed and nodded to the door. "Let's go see if we can find him. I've one more idea to try now that we've finally seen something through."

Corene readily accepted such an idea and followed after Elaine without so much as a word in response.

And then the pair were gone; Elaine wished she could see Harry's reaction when next he woke in his bedroom. The thought alone was enough to make her smile wider than ever she'd done before.

The pair had walked through much of Hogwarts by the time they reached the Quidditch pitch — the spot where Harry currently was. Gryffindor seldom changed the time of their practice, and thanks to having so set a schedule, it made it especially easy for the pair to know where he oft was.

Harry seemed to be a creature of habit, after all.

"You have them?" Elaine eyed Corene's satchel as if the things she sought would appear at the meerest mention of them.

"Yes," Corene opened her satchel and allowed Elaine a look therein.

Sure enough, the items in question were present. Treacle Tarts — Harry's favourite. They hadn't done as many a desperate witch would do, that being to fill them to the brim with love potions. No, they'd gone for something different, something that wouldn't cheapen the crush he'd naturally develop on them given their perfection in every meaning of the word.

Instead of anything like that, they had seen to it that the tarts were filled with something that'd cause a myriad of random effects throughout the day. Such effects would last until that which they'd added passed through his system, or were purged in their entirety via the Hospital Wing.

Not one was harmful, they were simply amusing.

"We'll sneak into the locker room whilst they practise," Elaine grabbed Corene's hand, and started off towards the aforementioned destination. She knew precisely which spot he oft took, and she knew that only his friends ever went inside.

She was counting on that sense of security, false as it was, for their plan to work.

Mayhaps he'd even share their gift with his teammates and the lot of them would share such wondrous effects. Oh, how amusing that'd be.

The pair went inside, set down the basket full of snacks, and turned around, intent on leaving as quickly as possible. He'd seen them once before, and so he couldn't be allowed to do so again lest he put together their plan.

So naturally, as they rushed away from the locker room with Elaine giggling maniacally and Corene wearing a smile, the pair ran right into the target of their pranks, and affection.

It was absurd how that seemed to work, and more absurd how his luck, accursed as it was, always seemed to interfere with their plans.

"Gaunt? Carrow?" Harry blinked at the pair and rubbed at his eyes, sweat going down therein to muddle his vision. "That you? What w—"

Elaine and Corene shared a look.

And then they ran.
