Three hours has passed since the confrontation between Yayoi and Polka…
The whole group, sans Misaki, who had been sent home to recuperate, and Soara, who had also been in bed recuperating, gathered at the table to discuss what just happened.
First to voice off his concern was Takumi, who had been the witness of the entire fiasco from the monitors of his desktop.
"Who was that kid? One minute she went in as a customer, the next thing she becomes a one-girl army who just wiped the floor clean of our best fighters"
"I don't know if she's from the same world I come from, but the looks of it, her power is as almost identical to that of Master Izliz"
Izliz Swordfrail was Polka's – Corpse God's – mentor in his days as an Imperial sorcerer, notably the one who taught him how to conjure Sanctuary. She was formerly recognized as second rank among the sorcerers of the Imperial Court when the Byandy Empire was still around. Ever since the empire fell, they ceased communicating with each other, out of shame on the Corpse God's part.
Hearing Izliz's name brought nostalgia for Civil. Since he was artificially created to resemble Arius, he had also learned much about the hierarchy among the sorcerers as well, with his supposed predecessor being the first rank.
"Izliz, huh? If she's as powerful as your master, would that make me powerful than her?" Civil jokingly interjected while genuinely gauging her power. He was also with Takumi in this room during the fight, forced to be kept at bay by the Maiden's curse
"I think it's not just about the power I'm trying to gauge her at. It's also her combat skills too"
Polka remarked how much of a strategist Yayoi is. First, she dismantled his sanctuary by summoning a spirit with a curse covering a large domain of her own beforehand. Then, she prevented Misaki's regeneration by continuously slashing the bats near her limbs. She also summoned another spirit whose wavering energy allows him to sneak in and out of combat situations.
Flamrodia appears above everyone, voicing out his opinion on the matter at hand
"Basically, this Yayoi kid is adept at playing with two ghosts that can go toe-to-toe with people like us, am I right?"
"Exactly, my friend. However, I think those were not the only ghosts this girl has"
Polka's concern has a point. While his Sanctuary was slowly dismantled from the inside by her summons for the second time, it was still able to pick up a particular piece Yayoi's thoughts
I should've brought the Condemned Sinner with us.
"From what I could hear from her, it seemed like she still had a bunch of powerful spirits like the one we fought off."
Takumi expressed his shock, his mouth was agape. She still has a few more powerful ghosts up in her sleeve. He then voiced out his suggestion
"I don't want to suggest this, but maybe we could ask the Agakuras for help? Besides, Majiri held Misaki and Xiaoyu in high regards the last time we all met, so I don't think she would let this slide"
The Agakuras are a clan of cold-blooded killers led by their older sister Majiri, who is actually a vampire named Riddhe Malacougar, belonging from the same world as Polka and Flam. She and her kin mainly operate in Shibuya, given that their youngest member, Yumeji, became the replacement mediator for the Shibuya underworld.
"That's what I really want to avoid, Takumi-kun" Polka strongly rejected his idea, and for good reason.
Majiri would likely take revenge on behalf of Misaki and Xiaoyu, regardless of the threat. Moreover, he still wants to reason with Yayoi.
"Takumi-kun, please tell Clarissa about what happened. We don't want them to be left out on the dangers we have seen"
"On to it"
Word has spread about what happened throughout a handful of selected people.
At the Youtoukorou Bar…
"To think it would escalate that quickly…"
Lisa Kuraki, known by her alias 'Clarissa', was visibly distressed by the news. She had never thought of a possibility that her go-to assassin/vampire would be defeated by an unknown party. The only ones she only knew that can go toe-to-toe with her were Lemmings and Polka himself.
"Be on your guard everyone. We know Yayoi Hozuki is just a kid, but she's as shrewd as all the clients we've ever handled before. After all, she's the girl who took quick care of Misaki at the building" she sternly reminded to every single worker of hers.
They may look like typical call-girls and barkeeps but they're highly trained to kill when they're told to, at least on the physical world. Seeing what the fake Polka can do since his supposed death, they agreed not to bring the worst out of that boy.
"Well, that won't be a problem here since this place is off-limits to minors, right?" Urai asked Clarissa
"You do have a point, but there are times when we're caught off guard by someone during our free time. Right now, she's no exception. I don't want to remind you about what happened to Nishida, right?"
Urai forcibly cleared his throat at her warning. He did remember his fellow bartender who had gone missing for some time. Only Polka knew – perhaps even saw – what really happened to him. His soul was still clinging on to Urai ever since he 'disappeared'
What's really bothering her was not Misaki's defeat, but the fact that another human can go toe-to-toe with Polka, who she knows is a menace from another world in the body of a supposedly deceased young boy
Still, something's amiss. Takumi said that this girl named Yayoi Hozuki possesses the same ability as the fake Polka, but she's not from his world. What's going on here?
At the Shinoyama Estate…
Rozan Shinoyama, the head of the powerful Shinoyama family, had received the news from his niece Sayo in full detail. From what he had heard, he couldn't help but hang his head in dismay. Being the wise man he is, he knew what transpired between Yayoi and the fake Polka before that fight
So this 'Yayoi' girl, and her friends, was consulting with Polka over her dreams before the fight happened, huh? Judging from her actions, I think she was acting on self-defense. I'm gonna give little Xiaoyu an earful. Still, to think she would be able to match up with the fake Polka and beat Xiaoyu, she must be pretty capable on her own.
"I hope nothing bad would befall on them" Rozan muttered to himself as he drank his oolong tea.
Note: This chapter is short and is slated for a rewrite, and I have run out of ideas on how to have them interact on a more peaceful manner
