I wake up the next morning and stretch my arms out over my head. I hear a knock at my door and I answer, "just a minute!" I don't even bother to brush my hair. I just grab my scrunchie and throw my hair up in a pony tail and walk sluggishly over to the door. I opened it but there was no one there.
I go to shut the door but stop and smile when I look down at the floor and see a tray of breakfast with a letter on it. I immediately knew who it was from and picked the tray up and brought it into my room. I take the letter from the tray and of course I was right. It was from Demetrius. I smile and open the envelope to find that he folded his letter just like I had folded mine.
I pulled on the tab and opened the letter up fully. Thanks to my canine senses, I could smell all sorts of things from his letter however I was surprised that the majority of the scent actually didn't come from the alcohol he's always drinking but instead mostly smells like Axe Phoenix body wash and David Hasselhoff's Cool Water cologne. 'Well, it's nice to know that he has good hygiene.' I think to myself before reading the letter.
'Hi Belle!
Is it okay if I call you that? If that's weird just let me know. I just think your human name is really cool and if I may be a bit forward,... it really suits you because of course Isabella means, 'beautiful.''
I blush bright pink after reading that. 'Awww... He just called me beautiful.' I squealed inside my head. I held the letter up to my heart and laid down on my bed smiling and then lifted it back up to continue reading:
' Also, 'Belle' is the name of a Disney princess. You sort of remind me of her. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I'd love to grab a coffee with you later on, just as friends of course.'
I giggled and continued reading:
'Do you think maybe you'd have some time for coffee today? If so, meet me in the lobby at 8:00am. If not, I'll pretty much be working behind the bar most of the day so you can just tell me there when you'd like to get that coffee. I'm pretty flexible with my schedule for the most part since I've started this rehab thing. Also, I just wanted to say thank you for bringing me dinner and for also caring about me.
I'm not really used to having anyone care about me since my sister, Abigail died so... it feels kind of nice. Also, I don't have a lot of friends either so I understand how that goes. I mean, I have my band members but they're more like coworkers or acquaintances than friends. If I'm going to be honest, I guess you should be the first to know that I kind of would like to have at least one friend too. But that's a secret just between us. I have a reputation to uphold after all.'
I laugh at the last thing he wrote before continuing to read it.
'Well I guess I'll see you later on today. Enjoy your breakfast! I didn't know what you liked so I just grabbed a little bit of everything. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Or, that's what I always told Abby when she was little anyways.
Demetrius
P.s. My favorite colors are green and black. I didn't share it with the group but I thought maybe I'd share it with you.'
I begin to feel this fluttering feeling in my stomach after reading the letter. 'What in the hell is wrong with my stomach?' I thought to myself. I figured maybe I should eat and that would help to settle it down. I see some bacon and immediately take a bite out of it.
It was perfectly crispy just the way I like it. As soon as I finished my breakfast I went downstairs and saw Demetrius washing dishes behind the bar. I force back the huge grin and replace it with a more relaxed smile. I walk up to the bar and sit at the bar stool in front of him. He looks over and smiles at me.
'Aah... he has such a gorgeous smile. I wish he'd smile more often.' I thought internally. "Good morning." I smile back at him, "good morning, how'd you sleep?"
He places a glass on the shelf. "Eh,... it could have been better honestly." I raise an eyebrow up at him, "really? What happened?" He turns and props himself up against the bar counter, "just had a nightmare.
I get them a lot too." I smile and pull out my key cards and I take it out and place it on the counter in front of me. "Do you have any sticky notes?" He looks behind the counter and grabs a pad of them. I take one and place it on the key card I have on the counter.
I write my name and phone number down on it and I slide the key over to him. He raises an eyebrow up at me, "what's this for?" I smile, "in case of emergencies. Now you have a key to my room." He smiles and takes his wallet out of his pocket and takes out his room keys.
He places one on the counter and puts a sticky note on it. "May I?" He asks holding his hand out. I give him my pen and he writes his name and phone number on it before sliding the key and my pen back to me. I smile up at him, "what's this?"
He smiles back, "for emergencies." I take it from him and place it next to my other one and then we just kind of stare at each other in silence for a bit before Demetrius breaks it, "uh so are you free for coffee today? I smile, "I think I've got time for a cup or two." He smiles back at me and writes a sticky note for Alastor at the bar to let him know he's taking a break and then puts the, 'be back later,' sign out and then exits the bar and locks it up. He walks around to meet me and the both of us walk out through the main entrance.
