Once Sector V, the Genie and Carpet returned to the treehouse, they watched the other kids play as the sun started to set behind them.
"She was right." Numbuh 5 said, recalling Numbuh 362's words. "Numbuh 1 would've been proud of all this."
"Yeah," Numbuh 2 agreed as he looked at the Genie's lamp. "Makes me wish he was here right now."
"Yeah, me too." agreed Numbuh 4.
"Me three." said Numbuh 3, whom the Carpet patted comfortingly.
The Genie chuckled nervously. "About that, I sort of already granted that wish."
"So, you did hear what we were saying last night!" exclaimed Numbuh 4.
"Why didn't you tell us earlier, Blue Man?" asked Numbuh 5.
"Well, I was going to surprise you at breakfast, but better late than never." explained the Genie. "He wasn't easy to come around at first, but I did tell him that he was in your every thought and how much you meant to him. Here's what he said."
The Genie conjured up a TV, in which a video tape went through the VCR, showing...
"Numbuh 1!" gasped Numbuh 5.
"Hi, guys." greeted Numbuh 1. "Mr. Gene was telling me that you guys miss me back on Earth. Well, I do, too. And I wish I would be right there with you again, but...I'm still needed here, and I have to do what's right...for all the Kids Next Door."
Numbuhs 2, 3, 4, & 5 felt their eyes watering as Numbuh 1 said. "But until we meet again, keep watching out for each other and make sure every kid is safe from the adults."
He ended his message with a salute, which Numbuhs 2, 3, 4 & 5 returned just before the video ended.
Numbuh 5 started to weep silently as the Carpet comforted her.
The Genie wiped away his own tears, then said. "Well, that leaves us with one final wish. Just say the word and you've got yourselves a one-way ticket to join him up there."
"But...what about your freedom?" asked Numbuh 5.
"Hey, it's only an eternity of servitude. This is more important." the Genie said as he wrapped his arms around Sector V. "You guys have been through a lot of together. And friends like each other come around only once in a lifetime."
As the Genie let them go to decide, Numbuh 4 looked at the lamp, which he slowly took from Numbuh 2's hands and giving it to Numbuh 5, nodding at her. Numbuhs 2 & 3 nodded as well.
Numbuh 5 turned to the Genie, proclaiming. "Genie, we wish for your freedom!"
"All aboard the...uh, what?" The Genie said with surprise.
"You're free, Genie!" exclaimed Numbuh 3.
The lamp floated out of Numbuh 5's hands, billowing a cloud of colorful smoke that surrounded the Genie.
In a flash, the shackles fell off his wrists and the lamp fell uselessly to the ground, from which the Genie picked up and looked at, gasping. "I...I can't believe it. I...I'm free!"
He handed the lamp to Numbuh 2, saying to him. "Quick, quick, wish for something outrageous! Say 'I...I want the Nile.' Wish for the Nile. Try that!"
"I...uh...wish for the Nile?" said Numbuh 2.
"NO WAY!" the Genie shouted...then laughed as he bounced around the treehouse like a pinball.
"Oh, does that feel good! I'm free! I'm free at last!" he exclaimed. "I'm hittin' the road. I'm off to see the world! I..."
But as the Genie started packing a suitcase, he looked down, with a lump in his throat, at Sector V, happy to see him free, but sad, at the same time, to let him go.
Numbuh 5 tried to keep herself together as she said to the Genie. "You...take care of yourself out there, OK?"
"You too, Numbuhs." the Genie replied tearfully. "No matter what anybody says, you'll always be heroes to me."
The Genie wrapped his arms around Sector V and the Carpet for one big emotional hug.
"Well," he perked up, taking a quick spin, decking out in a Hawaiian shirt with golf clubs and a Goofy hat. "Can't do any more damage around this popsicle stand. I am outta here!"
As he took to the sunset, the Genie called out. "So long, you crazy Kids Next Door! Hey, Rugman, ciao! I'm history! No, I'm mythology! Ah, who cares what I am. I'm free, baby!"
"Send us something nice, OK?" Numbuh 3 called back.
As soon as the Genie disappeared, leaving a trail of sparkles behind him, the Carpet tapped on Numbuh 2, who said. "I know, Carpet. We're gonna miss him too."
Seeing that he was missing the point, the Carpet shoved Sector V near the balcony railing.
"What's your prob..." Numbuh 4 asked, stopping himself when he saw the Tolietnator down below, loudly yelling. "KIDS NEXT DOOR, PREPARE TO BE FLUSHED BY THE MIGHTY..."
"VILLAINS NEXT DOOR!" Mr. Boss called, shoving the Tolietnator out of the way, with Mr. Wink & Mr. Fibb, Knightbrace, and the Crazy Old Cat Lady at his side.
"NO! BY STICKYBEARD!" Stickybeard called aboard the Sweet Revenge.
"NO!" called every other villain the Kids Next Door had ever faced.
Apparently, they heard about Sector V and their first wish to make the world adult-free.
Numbuh 5 looked at her team, all of them smiling determinedly, while the Carpet gave a tassel-up as he floated in front of them, offering transportation for the impending fight against the adult villains.
Numbuhs, 2, 3, and 4, looked at Numbuh 5, who took Numbuh 1's glasses from her cap and put them on, saying loudly. KIDS NEXT DOOR, BATTLE STATIONS!"
With weapons at each hand, they all hopped onto the Carpet and flew down to face their adversaries...which stopped in the frame!
(Enter...Genie Hitchcock in silhouette form)
My apologies, ladies and gentlemen, but the following may be too graphic to watch. So, we're going to have to end it off here.
(He pulls down a black screen...which the Genie pushes back up.)
Don't you just love these kids?
(He pulls the screen back down)
End transmission.
