Chapter 17

SG-1 sat alone having dinner in the warehouse. They spoke candidly wondering what they should do next.

Daniel asked, "Should we dial Abydos?"

Jack stated. "Ra is still running the show."

"I know!" he agreed. "But…if we defeat Ra early than Sha're and Skaara will be saved. They won't be taken."

"They would kids right now." Jack reminded him.

"But we can change their future for the better." Daniel urged. "We know Ra's weaknesses. We know how he maintains his power and with Colonel Austin, String, Michael…we have enough to counter Ra and his advanced technology."

Sam stated. "Taking Ra out early could throw off the balance of power in the galaxy. That's how we ended up with Apophis. Taking out Ra created a power vacuum. We can't disrupt the timeline that much."

He paused for he knew Sam was right. He sighed and placed the pizza slice down. "I know. Just…we got a huge advantage right now."

Jack promised. "We will find another way. We won't let Skaara and Sha're down."

"We let them down the first time." he mentioned.

"We won't this time." he promised.

Sam added. "Besides, we need to find out if Ra has a cult on Earth."

"Or a clone." Jack quipped.

Teal'c suggested. "If there is a Ra clone on Earth he might not have access to a Gate or ships. It's possible we could looking at a secret society. One that could be embedded in your governments."

"Like the Mason's?" Daniel asked.

Jack stated. "The Mason's. They are just some frat group, Daniel. My grandpa was one. They did community service."

"What was his degree?" he asked smirking.

"I don't know. I never got into it." he shrugged.

"He was likely one of the outside Mason's." Daniel told him. "You see, if you want to hide a secret society, you hide it inside another secret society. So, the outside secret society does community functions, is a benign organizations and the members have no idea there is a core secret society at the heart." He then went on. "You ever noticed the eye above the pyramid on the dollar bill?"

Jack asked. "Are we about to go there, Daniel?"

"If there is a secret Ra cult, it would be hidden in another secret cult." he insisted.

Sam quipped. "Yup! He went there." She grabbed another slice of pizza. "I forgot how much better the pizza tasted back in the eighties."

"I forgot how many pizza and sub shops there were." Jack added.

Daniel looked at the pair. "You two live on MRE's. Any fresh food taste good compared to that."

Jack looked at Teal'c who was enjoying his pizza. "Doesn't the pizza taste better here?"

"Indeed!" he agreed taking another slice.

Sam asked "Where should our next dial out be? Should we make contact with the Asgard early?"

"Thor?" Jack asked.

"Maybe there is a reason he was so willing to help us, sir." she told him. "Maybe, we did contact him before?"

Jack pondered. "Maybe."

"Contacting Thor would be a huge advantage." Daniel agreed.

"But how do we contact him now? In the 80's!" Jack asked.

Sam stated. "We dial out, send Thor the signal and see if he responds."

"If he doesn't?" Daniel wondered.

"Least we tried." Sam shrugged.

"Domestic mission." Jack stated. "What about rescuing String's brother? We can rescue him early and save Dom from getting killed."

"That we can do." Sam agreed.

Daniel countered. "But that would alter the timeline."

"I think the timeline is screwed." she confessed. "Of course the only way to find out just how screwed it is, is to go back to our time using the mini gate."

"But what good is that going to do us if these aliens who gave Ralph Hinckley the suit can just wipe everyone's memory?" Daniel asked.

"Really need to find out who they are." Sam agreed.

Meanwhile - Santini Air

Stringfellow Hawke sat in a private meeting with Dom and Caitlin. They spoke of the new predicament.

"I say we just take Airwolf and get Sinjin ourselves." String stated.

Caitlin cautioned. "We don't know for sure that information is accurate."

"Jack wouldn't lie to us." Dom assured.

"But the government sure as hell would." she reminded him. "None of us went through the mini gate with them to the future. We don't know what they were told. I like Jack, Sam, Daniel and T. I don't think they are trying to deceive us but we don't know what is in the future and if it's really Colonel Hammond on the other side of that wormhole."

Dom suggested. "We go with them on the next trip. We can see it for ourselves."

String stated. "That's not a bad idea. We should vet this a bit more. If Sinjin is alive, we can contact him on the other side and he can tell us exactly how and when to rescue him."

Caitlin agreed. "He could." She then sat back in her seat. "Boy, this time travel wormhole thing is a huge intel asset. You can go through a doorway, step right into the future get intel and come back."

Dom added, "Get the lottery numbers too."

String shook his head amused. "Lottery, Dom?"

"Think about it, String. You could go to the future, see what is there. Get the lottery numbers for the next drawing, come back and hit the jackpot." he told him. "You would be set for life. Instant millionaire overnight. And that would keep Wilton Knight at bay."

Caitlin had to agree. "That would keep Wilton Knight at bay. Only reason he is even in on this is to make money. If we had our own funding we wouldn't need him."

"We would need KITT." String reminded her.

"Didn't Sam say he was obsolete in the future?" she asked.

"So is Airwolf." he nodded.

She suggested. "We go to the future, bring back a few of those…lap…top…computers like what Sam has and we can install one in Airwolf."

"That's not a bad idea." he agreed. "That would give Airwolf a huge boost in computer power."

Dom added. "Sam said if she could upgrade the Lady's computers then she could automate the rotors to jet and even Cait could fly her. Heck, I could fly her."

String stated. "I think we should take a little trip through the mini gate."

Later That Evening

String, Caitlin and Dom had returned to Knight Industries. It was late and everyone had gone to bed. String went to the controls and entered the command to connect with Star Gate Command of the future. He sent SG-1's signal and lowered the iris. All three sported civilian clothing and were unarmed. Upon receiving the all clear signal they walked through the mini gate and into the future.

Star Gate Command

General Hammond was most surprised to find the crew of Airwolf emerging from the event horizon. He walked down the stairs for he did not recall the team being sent to the future under his command as a colonel.

"String, Dom, Caitlin." he looked at the three faces. "We received SG-1's signal."

"I sent it." String told him looking about.

"What's the meaning of this?" he asked fearing something was drastically wrong.

"We wanted to make sure you were really here on the other side." String told him. "I also want more information on my brother."

"I see." he gave a deep sigh. "What would you like to know, String?"

"Is he really alive?" he asked.

Hammond confirmed. "He is."

"I want to see him." he demanded.

"Alright." he agreed.

Dom asked. "Hey George. Since we're here can we have a look around?"

"Technically, I should place all three of you in holding." he snapped.

Dom gave a surprised look.

Hammond's face softened. "But I will exception for you, Dom."

He smiled. "Great!"

"This way." He led String, Dom and Caitlin to the stairs that would lead to the control room and his office.

They walked up the stairs and for the first time got to meet Walter.

"This is Sergeant Harriman." Hammond introduced them.

Dom grinned and offered a handshake. "You must be Walter."

Walter stood up and shook his hand. "I am! You are a World War Two fighter ace." he knew Dom had served.

"I flew." he confirmed.

"Pleasure to meet you, sir." Walter told him. "I'm a bit of a historian myself."

"Thank you, son." Dom told him.

String noted, "You're the gate guy."

"Yes sir." Walter stated.

"You got a much bigger Gate than we do." he told him.

Walter agreed. "Yes sir."

Caitlin looked over the computers. "This is a heck of the system you guys got here. Sam said you didn't have a controller like our little gate has."

"That's correct." Walter told her.

The Gate suddenly started to turn and the chevrons began to lock.

Hammond asked, "Who's knocking, Walter?"

Walter went back to his station. "It's Bra'tac." he reported.

"Lower the iris." he ordered.

"Bra'tac is?" String asked.

"Jaffa. Friend of ours." he told him. "The mini gate is top secret. I don't want you to disclose that to anyone, not even our friends. I'll have you three given uniforms and I will pass you off as one of our SG teams." he told them.

Dom understood the need for secrecy. "Oh, we won't tell anyone about our little gate."

"Walter, get our guest here settled." Hammond ordered.

"Yes sir." the sergeant replied.
