Penny was struggling to catch her breath, as she ran down the intersection, trying desperately to follow Gumball. However, she wasn't the only one.

Police lights could be seen flashing, quickly on pursuit. It didn't help the feline's stress one bit, as neighboring cars were unintentionally crashing into each other with his power. He soon screamed, as some caused fiery explosions, knocking him over to the ground.

As he stood back up, slightly stumbling, his sweater had ripped, exposing an intricate design of stripes on his chest. Gumball looked upon his surroundings in terror, seeing all the destruction going on, his destruction. He tried to get himself to stop, but there wasn't anything he could do to calm himself down. How could he calm down during all this?

"Gumball!"

His head turned upon hearing Penny's voice, however he soon froze. A truck was coming up in front of him, nearly inches away. For a moment, everything felt as if in slow motion, while his life flashed before his eyes. Tears streamed down his cheeks, as he felt unable to move, unable to even form words, let alone a scream.

Just as it was about to come closer, a bright yellow light suddenly flooded the area. Gumball shielded his eyes, though paused, finding that he was away from the intersection, and in the arms of a purple griffon looking creature. The cat stared at it for a minute, before letting out a scream, yanking himself out of its hold. However, his eyes soon widened, as it began to morph. It soon clicked into his head the moment he realized he couldn't see or hear Penny anywhere.

A glowing yellow fairy with antlers appeared in his sight, beginning to cry. Her form shifted into several different things at once, as she backed away from the feline.

"P-Penny wait I didn't mean to-"

She didn't listen to him, instead choosing to run into the forest herself.

Gumball stood there in shock, unsure of how to act in this situation. A part of him was angry with himself for upsetting her like that, but another was still very much freaking out. A third almost felt.. In awe. His ears soon perked up, hearing a strange siren wailing in the distance.

"Pest control out of the way!" A bug man hopped out of a similarly themed van, pointing a tranquilizer gun straight at him. Before the bug can pull the trigger however, a yellow station wagon crashes into the other vehicle, distracting him.

Gumball watched with bewilderment, as his family fought with the bug man, shouting and scolding him. His father soon looked at him, and pointed to the direction of the woods. Understanding the notion, the cat climbed over the metal road fence, and made his way inside the aforementioned greenery. He only had one chance to make this right.

"Penny?" He could hear a loud howl echo through the trees, sounding melancholy. "Penny.."

As he pushed away some branches, he found a dark purple wolf sitting there, gazing upon the overhead of a cliff. Thankfully he had his clue it was her, seeing the antlers on the wolf's head. He actually quite liked the color. "Penny?.."

"Go away.. Please.."

"..Penny I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to react like that.. I-I was just really scared of everything.." He carefully sat beside her, making sure to give her some space. They both looked out at the view before them, admiring its quiet beauty. Gumball let out a miserable sigh. "..Tonight shouldn't have gone like this.. It's my fault you got caught up in it.."

"No, it's not your fault.." Penny replied, her voice deep and rough. "You couldn't control your powers.. I.. I know the feeling.."

They went silent for a moment, unsure of what else to say. A lot was on their minds, especially with the events of this night, yet it felt almost awkward to even admit any of their emotions.

Gumball especially felt this way. He knew that he practically sent Penny on a wild goose chase, and admittedly caused quite a bit of damage. Yet, he couldn't help but have his recollections wander back to earlier on the highway. He could still remember that brief moment, when the truck was just merely feet away from him. It was rather depressing his powers didn't kick in at all, yet.. A different thought lingered.

"..You broke out of your shell.." He looked up at her, with a look of awe and gratefulness. Part of him struggled to get his words out. "..J-Just for me?.."

A tint of pink could be seen on Wolf Penny's cheeks, as she looked away. "..I couldn't let you get hurt or.. Worse.."

The cat gave a nod, internally trying to keep himself from freaking out. Mostly for her sake, but.. Also keeping his abilities in mind. "..Thanks.."

Silence returned once more.

"..It's kinda funny.." Wolf Penny now spoke up, turning her head to face Gumball. "I thought I was the only one dealing with something like this.. Feeling.. Trapped.. But I wasn't.."

The cat equally looked at her with a frown. "..Yeah.. Faking it sucks.."

Wolf Penny hesitated. "..Gumball.. What do you think of me?.. Am.. Am I ugly?.."

"What?! Who told you that?! You're absolutely not!" Gumball took hold of one of her paws. Penny couldn't help but notice the cyan blue paw-pad shaped patterns in the feline's own. "It's not what you are.."

She smiled, leaning her wolf body towards him, the two in a comforting embrace. "Neither are you.. It's just how you feel.."

Tears welled into Gumball's eyes, an utter happiness filling his heart. It was like those terrifying thoughts of him being dangerous or freakish had washed away, replaced with.. Love. He placed his hands gently on the sides of Penny's face. "..And this is how I feel."

Penny's eyes widened once he kissed her, a pink heart briefly flickering as her form shapeshifted back into her fairy self. The two stayed that way for a while, until finally letting go, each looking at the other as if gazing upon a beautiful night sky, completely entranced while their hands were intertwined.

For a moment, Gumball could've sworn he saw space around them, but he was too happy to care. He soon blushed in embarrassment however, seeing that they were both still floating in the air. "S-Sorry I-I didn't mean to-"

The fairy laughed, making him grin with delight.

Everything was perfect.
