Misplaced Trust
Chapter Three
Repercussions
By the time we reached out bedroom I could already hear Alice ordering everyone around, leaning against my husband I tried to focus on the honey lilac and sunshine scent of my Edward, his scent had always managed to calm my scattered thoughts. Feeling myself being gently lowered to the floor I watched as Edward hunted through our closet for something comfortable, coming across leggings and another one of his t shirts, comfortable for me. Something told me Alice was going to try and get me back in the hot seat again. However I was about to be four months pregnant that was the last thing I wanted to do.
Moving toward my husband I tuned around as he slid my wedding gown off, pulling down the zipper slowly. Alice would certainly have a fit if my wedding dress was ripped. Once I stepped out of it, I felt my husband's mouth against my shoulder laying his hand against my belly as it began to gurgle against his palm causing a frown to mar his beautiful features. To be truthful I felt horrendous but being with my husband, my imprint it made everything manageable. Quicker than he had undressed me he helped me into the leggings and t shirt, feeling relief at being in loose clothing again.
"How are we getting to Forks?" I whispered leaning against his shoulder as I tried to forget the queasiness upsetting my belly.
"Carlisle was talking about taking the ferry or flying. But I'm not sure which form of transport would be best for you and how you are feeling." Edward said softly.
"I've always had motion sickness, but morning sickness tops that. Even if I do get sick the Ferry will be quicker. But how will we get the cars back?" Tilting my head I looked into his golden eyes once more.
"There was talk of Rosalie and Jasper bringing them, the remainder of them were left at the house." Edward answered beginning to fill the suitcases with clothing. Thanking his lucky stars than Alice and Rose had brought his angel back to him.
"I love you Mr Masen. I know what you are thinking, you deserve me and more. I understand your need to protect me so much more now than ever." I whispered in his ear.
"I love you too Mrs Masen. Would you like to help. It may distract you from feeling sick." My husband said softly leaning down to kiss me.
"Maybe we can leave a few things here. Come back just the two of us for a belated honeymoon." I whispered grimacing. "I don't think that's possible even when I'm not vomiting I feel sick."
"I believe that can be arranged." Edward agreed softly leaning down to rub my belly gently. "I believe that we are done packing."
I smiled softly at my husband, returning to Forks was going to be a lot more difficult than it had been when I'd left Phoenix but with Edward by my side I knew I could face Jacob and Billy. Trying has my hair into a high ponytail just in case the Ferry had the same affect as every other form of travel. As Edward took the suitcases, being careful not to leave my mother's family tree behind just in case Billy got cocky and state that I was lying.
Looking around the room once more I thought about Charlie and how he would handle all of this. Not only was he about to find out that his daughter wasn't his daughter but that I'd been raped by someone he classed a son. Given the fact that Jacob was a wolf I wasn't even sure that he could be prosecuted the human way. Unless there was a way to trap the wolf. Shaking my head I leaned against Edward's chest as he led us back downstairs. Thankfully by the time we reached the living room everything was already packed into Rosalie's car that she would be driving back with Jasper.
"Everything is ready, I know it is going to be a bumpy couple of hours, however we will all be there should you need us." Carlisle said softly as we began to short journey to the ferry port. Splitting up was different however I knew that Rose & Jasper could handle it.
By the time we arrived, I was suddenly wishing that we had decided to drive. The queasiness in my belly already starting to make me on the verge of throwing up again. Edward's arms wrapped around my waist as we boarded the Ferry. Neither of us wanted to return to Forks, however now that I was a married woman, and also a member of the tribe my fear surrounding Jacob was beginning to get easier, though I doubted it would ever completely go away.
I'd been so lost in my thoughts I hadn't seen Esme pay for our tickets or Edward leading us to our room. Grimacing I knew I'd be spending a lot of time in the bathroom. Hopefully Emmett would refrain from joking about it later. Taking small breaths out I pushed my head back into the crook of my husband's neck.
"Morning sickness sucks." I said slowly rubbing my rolling belly as the boat began to move. Illinois began to fade into the background as we made our way back to Forks. Before I could say anymore Edward carried me into the bathroom, setting me in front of the toilet just in time. Bolting over the porcelain god I vomited as my morning sickness began again.
"I hate seeing you sick." Edward said softly holding my hair back.
"I'm not sure how I'm going to get through school feeling this sick. Not to mention the nasty twins." I said quietly leaning my head back against Edward's chest.
"We'll figure it out once we are home. Do you need to stay a bit longer?" Edward reassured me.
"I'm done." I whispered softly as my husband helped me up, rinsing my mouth out before Edward led me back into the bedroom cabin.
With Edward's hand against my waist helping me onto the bed, I waited until he joined me, before resting my head against his chest. I knew that Jacob was going to be extremely angry when he discovered that the Cullens were back, not only that but Edward hadn't turned his back on me like his hurtful words had been thrown at me. This morning had marked my fourth month of pregnancy and with it my baby bump was now noticeable to those outside of extra senses. Sam and Emily had protected my secret and for that I was grateful, however telling Charlie not only that I'd been raped but I was the daughter of one of his friends was going to be hard.
Closing my eyes, I breathed in Edward's honey and lilac scent, knowing it was one of the few things that managed to calm my nerves. Through the walls I could hear Carlisle and Esme in the next room, as the Ferry got going, the nausea lingered however I was thankful that it wasn't with the overpowering urge to throw up. I'd just begun to fall asleep when the door barged open and Alice and Emmett entered, making me jump.
"Sorry lil sis. I didn't mean to scare you." Emmett said looking between myself and Edward who looked furious at the intrusion.
"What's on your mind?" I asked looking at Alice.
"Esme and the wants to redecorate the house once we get home, add a nursery for the baby. I wanted to know I'd there was a specific colour you both would like the bedroom and nursery to be." Alice asked.
"Well it's not just my decision Alice, that bedroom has been Edward's for a long time now." I said softly looking at my husband seeing the smile on his face. Suddenly I wished more than anything that my husband could read my mind. Looking at Edward I took a deep breath seeing the awe in his eyes.
"What did you do? How did you?" Edward said softly.
"What happened?" I asked.
"I heard your thoughts. It was like a light switch turning on. One minute there was silence then I could hear you." Edward explained bringing me closer into his arms.
"Wow." I said softly. What colour would you like our room and the baby's nursery to be.
"Well your room at Charlie's hand a purple comforter but the walls themselves were green." Edward said softly as i scrunched up my nose.
That bedroom was exactly the same colour as they painted it when I was a baby. The only difference was the bed and the desk.
"Out loud so I can hear." Alice said softly looking frustrated.
"Sucks to be left out of the conversation huh?" I said softly unable to hold in my laugh. "How about a red comforter and golden walls and a lovely cream carpet, then it's not too girly. I'm not sure what sex the baby is yet so I don't know. Unless you can see the baby?"
"Unfortunately I can't. I'll mention it to Carlisle. It should be a few weeks beforehand. Though they say a mother always knows. Do you have any suspicions about what gender the baby is?" Alice asked.
"Well I've been dreaming about a little boy. I just hope he looks more like me than him." I said softly leaning against Edward. "How long will it be before we get there."
"It's 11 hrs to Port Angeles, if I were you I'd get some sleep." My husband said softly glaring at his sister. "Out."
"But…" Alice started.
"Out Alice, we can discuss this later." Edward said firmly.
"Oh okay." Alice said quietly.
Shifting closer to Edward I closed my eyes, not realising how tired I actually still was. So much had happened in such a short space of time however I wouldn't let anyone tell me that I was wrong for marrying my soulmate. Though that wasn't the main worry, it was currently stepping foot on the reservation, four months pregnant with a future shifter. That was my last thought as I drifted off to sleep once again dreaming about a little boy. Feeling my husband's lips against my forehead I knew he had heard the way my thoughts had gone.
Thankfully I stayed asleep throughout the rocky journey to Port Angeles, with the ever present queasiness it was going to be a long night, the tribal retribution had been set for straight after we arrived back in Forks. At least I knew never to take a boat ride whilst pregnant again. As the Ferry began to slow down I stirred beginning to wake up. The moment my eyes opened the nausea became evident as it got more intense. Grimacing I would be thankful when we were hadj in dry land.
Without saying how I was feeling I felt myself bring brought closer into my husband's arms. The nerves alongside the lingering morning sickness made me feel so much worse. Looking into his golden eyes I smiled slightly wanting to change, noticing the smile on Edward's face as he motioned to the bottom of the bed. Apparently my sister was still able to give me new clothes without being able to see me. Chuckling I shook my head regretting the motion as my stomach churned.
"I guess Alice will always know when I need new clothes, blockage on her visions or not." I said softly.
"She can't see you but I can read her mind. I promise in the future she will be respectful of your decisions. Including whether we have anymore birthday parties." Edward said softly kissing my forehead gently.
Sliding out of bed I started to undress, pulling on the stretchy pants and one of my husband's t shirts. "Thank you. I know she meant well, and I don't blame any of you for what happened. What matters is we are together now, married and a family." I'm scared.
"I won't let anything happen to you I promise. We are coming into the Port Angeles dock now." Edward explained to me as we began to slow down.
"How will we get to the reservation?" I asked, making my way to Edward's side as we prepared to leave the bumpy Ferry behind.
"How are you feeling?" My husband asked guiding us to the front of the Ferry to join the rest of our family, suddenly I was thankful the majority of our belongings were travelling with Jasper and Rose.
"Like I could vomit at any moment but your scent takes my mind off it." I said honestly as we reached our family.
"No one will touch you I promise. The sooner Jacob and Billy are held accountable the easier it will be for you to heal." Edward said quietly kissing my forehead.
"How are we getting there? I'm not sure I have the strength to walk from here to the Rez." I asked leaning against my husband as he helped me off the Ferry.
"Well you see, I may have purchased you a new car which will be waiting for us. It's the latest Volvo." Edward explained ad we joined out family at the car. I smiled softly.
"Thank you. I don't want anything to do with that truck anymore." I admitted quietly knowing my imprint could hear me. Once we were altogether Carlisle began to explain the plan.
"Edward and Bella will travel in the Volvo, the rest of us will travel to LaPush. With Sam's permission we will have no trouble crossing, however it would be beneficial for all of us to wait until Bella is with us. At least with this first meeting."
"I still have my clothes from that night. Charlie taught me at a young age how a rape kit works. That should be all the evidence they need. Though with the rest of the wolves on our side, he doesn't stand a chance even if they try to lie." I explained before breathing in Edward's scent. "Though given he's a shifter I'm not sure how prison would work."
"They should be well preserved. Did you plan on telling Charlie?" Carlisle asked as Edward lead me to the passenger side.
"Well I guess I'm going to have to given I'm four months pregnant and he will know it's not possible for it to Edward's. Despite how much I want it to be." I said quietly getting into the passenger side of my new car. Driving feeling this nauseous wouldn't be a good idea.
"We can discuss it later. Got now let's get this over with." Esme said softly as Rosalie and Jasper joined them. Apparently they broke the speed limit to be with us in time.
Nodding softly I buckled myself in, watching as my husband had a silent conversation with his father before getting into the car and preparing to approach the wolves. I could remember once wishing that Edward was with me when I visited LaPush. Now however, I was nervous and nauseated all at the same time. Resting my head against the headrest I closed my eyes trying to take my mind off my churning belly. Thankfully Edward wasn't going too fast otherwise I would need him to pull over. Before I could focus on the churning too much we were pulling up at the treaty borderline.
Taking a deep breath I knew this was going to be a long night. Not only were we going to be moving onto the reservation. Billy was about to find out he was a grandfather. Not that I would let him near this baby. If he could walk away whilst his son planned to rape his best friends child. Even if I wasRo to a Clearwater by birth Charlie had been my father. Once the car stopped I waited for Edward to help me out, leaning against his chest as we joined the rest of our family. From a distance I saw Sam and Quill approaching us. This was it, the moment I got the chance to move on. But I wasn't sure I was able to speak.
"You have our permission to cross, Harry wants to officially meet his daughter. Edward has been welcomed into the pack. As Bella's imprint none of us, including Jacob can harm him, it's our law. The rest of your family can also cross, we have re written the treaty, stating that the borderline is null and void, we work together on hunting cold ones who don't drink animal blood. All you have to do is sign it." Sam explained.
"I speak for both of us when I say we are grateful for your acceptance. My wife would tell you herself but her morning sickness is bad tonight." Edward said softly as he led us over the teary line. Once he had spoken for us he pulled me closer.
"Thank you for looking after Bella whilst we couldn't, for not judging Edward for why he left. None of us could have predicted that Bella could have been a shifter. Of course even if she hadn't I would have begged for a loophole to change her. That's why Edward left it wasn't because he didn't love his wife." Carlisle said softly. "We would be willing to sign, as you can see we also have two others with us. Alice and Jasper found us already changed."
"I understand, when I first phased I was standing too close to Emily and left a scar. It's my biggest regret. But Emily doesn't and never has beaned me." Sam admitted quietly coming to stand by my side as he squeezed my shoulder. "If you need the bathroom I can lead you to your new house."
Not trusting my voice I nodded softly. Smiling a little I watched as Sam handed Edward some keys. Tears of happiness clouded my eyes as I realised just how lucky I was. My husband took the pen off Sam as he signed his new name, handing the pen to Alice as he saw the curious look on Sam's face. When I had first told Edward I wanted to use Masen I had been nervous that it would be too much.
Swallowing thickly I leaned against my husband; breathing in his scent as it calmed my nauseous belly enough to think about answering Sam's questioning eyes. It was going to be public knowledge after the Christmas holidays anyway. Feeling Edward's arms wrap around my waist resting on my belly I saw the slight nod as he heard my inner thoughts.
"Edward's biological name was Masen, his mother Elizabeth begged Carlisle to save her son. Ever since he told me his story I have wondered whether his Mum was some sort of psychic. Despite Jacob's delusions that I would be abandoned by my family when I told them what happened, I was accepted. Edward will be this baby's father in every way that matters. I wanted to be married before we came back. I asked if we could use his biological last name. What some fail to realise is despite the vampire exterior is a man. Should I be judged as a wolf because of my shifter ability. The answer is no, so why judge my husband." I said softly. "I'm going to be sick."
Edward picked me up rushing to the direction of the small houses, with me directing him past Sam and Emily's house. Approaching the small house Edward opened the door setting me on my feet as I rushed into the bathroom reaching it just as my belly rebelled. It was currently 10 o'clock at night why did they call it morning sickness. After two more bouts of nausea I leaned against my husband closing my eyes, looking down at the small swell of my belly, though still small, the Quiluetes senses were as heightened as The Cullens.
"Is it noticeable?" I asked softly.
"It is, however no one will say anything, they know already and have been hiding it from Jacob. If they try anything or say anything then it'll look worse for them than it already is." Edward said softly helping me up as he flushed the chain. "Our family, Sam and Quil are outside, they've signed the treaty. Harry is with them.
I smiled softly. "When I ran to you, I wasn't sure how things would end up. I just knew I couldn't stay in Forks without you." I said softly leaning my head against my husband's shoulder as he opened the front door allowing everyone to come inside.
"If you hadn't come to me, I was on the verge of returning. You are my life Isabella Masen." Edward said softly leaning down to kiss me.
"Say anything and you'll be sleeping on the couch Emmett." Rosalie threatened.
Looking toward our family I sighed softly not really sure how to react as I looked at Harry, I'd known the man since I was a baby. I didn't know whether to be angry or happy. Was this why Renee ran away from Forks? I was beginning to question everything.
"I never should have let you go." Harry said quietly reaching out for my hand.
"I wish I had known. I understand vampires and shifters aren't the best of friends but given I am mated to one and have imprinted on him. It would have been nice to know." I said softly hugging my father. "Does Charlie know? Leah and Seth?"
"I'm not sure, if he does he's never said anything to me. But one thing I do know is he loves you. We will get though this together as a family. Leah is happy to know that despite her phasing she will be able to have children, Seth is excited to have another sister." Harry explained.
"What about Sue?" I asked biting my lip rubbing my belly gently. "Sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry for Bella, you were hurt in the worst way by someone you considered a friend. He lost all rights to that baby the moment he did what he did. Your husband is and always will be the father. I hope the two of you give me more grandchildren. Sue knows and she isn't upset with either of us." Harry said softly. "Are you ready to begin proceedings?"
"Not really, but the sooner the better." I said softly.
"Bella has her clothes from that night. Being raised by a cop gives you the knowledge." Rosalie told Sam as she handed over the evidence bag I had shoved the clothes into that night. Turning away I hid in the crook of Edward's neck.
"Thank you. They still believe that they can talk us around. Of course they have already signed their own banishment order by doing the things they have. They hurt a member of the tribe. One of them knowingly walked away knowing what his son was going to do." Sam said softly as he led us toward the clearing where the remaining shifters including my new siblings were.
Suddenly I felt self conscious. All eyes turned to look at us as we entered the clearing, my husband's arm wrapped around me coming to rest on my belly. Breathing out I began to relax seeing that none of them were glaring at me. Turning to look around the clearing I smiled slightly seeing Sue and Old Quil nearby, relaxing further as I saw my father's wife smile at me. If Charlie wasn't suspicious then he would have to know about vampires and werewolves soon enough.
Once Edward was sitting down I felt myself being pulled onto his lap, his arms once again wrapped around my waist as he held me protectively in his arms. With another treaty signed and our imprint/mate status accepted there was nothing left to try and take away from me. The boy I had known before Jacob changed wasn't there anymore. The boy I had trusted left the moment he phased. Laying my head against my husband's chest I felt him tense looking up a little as I saw Jacob walk into the clearing as Billy was wheeled in by Rachel.
"What are they doing here?" Jacob snarled.
"They are family, a new treaty has been signed and approved by our Elders. My daughter is lucky to have them." Harry stood up flanked by Leah and Seth.
"Daughter?" Billy asked turning to face me.
"Oh didn't you know? Your son attacked your friends secret daughter, of course I didn't know that at the time. It was only afterward when I was safely at the Cullens house after he raped me that I found out." I said quietly, staying close to Edward.
"How could to do that to her Dad? You've helped people who were raped before." Rachel and Rebecca said at the same time. I could tell the difference between the twins as Rachel was seated between Paul's legs.
"She should have been with Jacob to begun with." Billy answered defiantly.
"That wasn't your choice. It's mine. And just so you know when a vampire finds their mate it's for life. Just like my imprinting on him is for life. You can't force someone to feel something they don't." I said watching as Sam approached the clearing looking toward me for confirmation he could talk about the baby and our marriage. I nodded softly.
"Myself and Emily took Bella in a few days after Jacob raped her, she explained everything. How he had invited her into the house to watch a movie. A movie that she had watched with her husband. When Jacob tried to wrap his arm around her she told him no. When he pushed her to the floor he was told no. But instead of accepting that she belonged to another man. He violently raped his supposed best friend, throwing insults that Edward wouldn't want her after he was through. Clearly he doesn't understand that a vampire mating is just as strong if not stronger than imprinting. I have spoken with Isabella Masen at length in the last few days and she has given me permission to reveal their news. News that by rights given everything Jacob has done she has no obligation to announce to either of them. That being said she wants his sisters to be a part of it. You see when Jacob raped Isabella she fell pregnant, right now she is four months pregnant. Any rights either Billy or Jacob may have had have been taken away." Sam finished looking toward me seeing my tears.
"HUSBAND?" Billy roared trying to move his wheelchair but finding it had been immobilised.
"BABY? You are having my baby?" Jacob demanded.
"No I'm having this baby with Edward, you will stay away otherwise I won't be held responsible. After the Christmas holidays I'm planning on telling Charlie. Would you like me to insist he lock you up. I'm pretty sure he would do so. In fact that's what I want." I said quietly hiding myself back into Edward's shoulder.
"Is that an option." Carlisle asked looking between Sam and Harry
"It is, especially with the evidence we have. With Jacob locked up he won't be able to phase, however there is a way for us to remove the wolf from within in him it's painful but in this case necessary." Harry explained.
"Well I have all the evidence in police bags. Living with Charlie you get lessons on these things. Carlisle has them." I said softly staying close to Edward smiling a little as Leah and Seth moved closer to me.
"You should never have gone near the bloodsuckers." Billy and Jacob snarled together.
"And you shouldn't judge people you know nothing about. As far as I'm concerned your son was nothing more than a friend. He used his strength and my depression against me. And instead of stopping him, you wheeled yourself away snd let him do it. And you call yourself Charlie's friend." I snapped turning to my former friend. "And you, how many times did I tell you I wasn't interested, that there was only ever gong to be Edward for me, but you had to force yourself on me. Well I'm glad this baby will be raised a Masen, because you are not fit to be around anyone let alone a baby." Grimacing as my belly churned I swallowed. I'm not feeling well?
"Could I speak for Bella, she's not feeling well?" My husband asked looking between Old Quil, Harry, Sam and Harry.
"You can. I'm proud that my daughter has been able to say as much as she has. Given the situation. About Charlie though I don't think you'll have to hide anything from him for much longer." Harry said softly.
"What does that mean?" Emmett asked before my husband could ask.
"He's met someone." Billy snarled. "One of your lot I think."
"Oh. Then maybe we should call him in the morning." Edward said out loud seeing Carlisle nod
"That may be wise, though by now he may already know." Harry said quietly. "I think we have all heard enough. And seen the evidence for ourselves. It is clear Jacob Black is guilty of raping Isabella Masen nee Clearwater Swan. She is currently four months pregnant and it isn't a vampire pregnancy otherwise it would be more visible. I believe it would be best all round if we gave him the reversal antidote and the Wolf. All in favour."
From the corner of my eye I saw all hands being raised agreeing with Jacob's guilt, the breath I had been holding released as I heard the agreements from all around me, suddenly feeling a feather light touch against my hand, turning away from Edward I saw Leah holding my hand. Perhaps having siblings wasn't going to be a bad thing after all.
"It is also clear that Billy Black was a willing accomplice. All because Isabella imprinted on a vampire. I've spent a lot of time talking with Edward on the phone. He is and always will be the love of her life, the same goes for Edward. I'm sure all of you remember the time I first phased and hurt Emily. Edward Masen left to keep his mate safe, he didn't want her to become like him. No matter what you may have heard, now he gets his wise and she is still able to be with him. The longer she phases then she doesn't age. Given her soulmate is a vampire that won't change anytime soon." Sam said quietly. "Billy is guilty and he had no qualms about another human being hurt. All in favour of finding him guilty."
Once again hands went up as the tribe declared both father and son guilty. Tears filled my eyes in relief knowing that I wouldn't have to see him again. And the fact that he wouldn't be a wolf and could be locked up. Next would be the hard part, calling Charlie. Rubbing my eyes I sighed softly knowing that it could wait until morning, I was too tired and nauseous to have to go through this again so soon. I'm sleepy.
"If that's everything I would like to get Bella to bed. It's been a long journey home and feeling sick on top of that she needs rest." Edward said softly rubbing my back gently looking at my father and siblings. "Would you like to be there when we tell Charlie about this?"
"I would if you don't mind. I know that we have to work together, I've never been the best to be around but now I have a little sister to look after." Leah agreed looking at her parents. "Dad, Mum?"
"We will be there, Charlie needs to know that I never wanted to be out of your life. But I am thankful he was there." Harry said looking at Sue. "I'd also like to have a consultation with Carlisle, there's been a few health issues, with a new family and grandchild I would like to know that everything will be okay."
"I can see you first thing in the morning if that's okay with you." Carlisle agreed. "Or maybe back at Bella and Edward's new house. With vampire hearing I can diagnose without the usual medical equipment."
"Now would be better I know Sue had been worried. You could come to our house and let Bella rest." Harry agreed looking at Leah. "Would you like to go with your sister or stay here."
"I'd like to go with Bella. I can give her some signs to look for after the baby is born." Leah said softly watching as Jacob was given some kind of concoction to remove the wolf.
By this time I was nearly asleep, the events of the day catching up on me, alongside the queasiness still present I knew it was going to be a long night. So far all of my fears had been for nothing as Leah and Seth had accepted me straight away and it didn't seem to be getting in between my father and Sue. Leaning against my husband I felt myself being picked up as he carried me home, Leah following behind.
The last thing I could remember was being undressed and redressed into pyjamas before being lowered to the bed. With Edward reluctant to leave my side I knew that Leah would be close by. I'd never given much thought to what it would be like to have siblings, the future was looking brighter. Something told me that seeing Charlie would bring more surprises for me than him, but that was tomorrow's worry. With that final thought I fell into a deep sleep, once again dreaming of a baby boy. My little boy.
