Misplaced Trust
A/N This chapter starts in Edward's Point of View then blends into Bella's
Chapter Four
Settling In
As I watched Bella sleep I couldn't believe how lucky I was to still have my beautiful Angel with me, not only that but as my wife. When I'd first laid eyes on her two days ago when she entered the room with Alice and Rose I didn't know what to think. Leaving had destroyed both of us, I knew now that my Bella was meant to be part of this world. My world. Being reunited had been something that would have happened, I couldn't survive without her. Knowing that her so called best friend had touched her without her consent broke something inside me, however I knew I had to be strong for her. With the tribunal for Jacob and Billy now over we could heal together, and Harry had mentioned vampire pregnancies. That meant that I would be able to give Bella children. Just like that all of my walls fell. I was the lucky one, now I got to have my wife by my side and a baby. Something I had long ago given up on.
I knew that talking to Charlie would be hard for my wife, about her rape and especially the discovery about her parentage. She had always been the one to take care of them. Charlie clearly couldn't cook that much was apparent but her mother, from her thoughts last spring they didn't seem to focus on one thing for too long. If that's how she acted around her daughter it was no surprise that my wife had jumped at the chance to spent time with Charlie. Running my hand through Bella's hair I turned to face Leah. Though I could hear her thoughts I wanted to know that she was truly okay. This was a big thing for every member of the Clearwater family.
"I know this has been a lot to take in. Being in the same pack as Emily and Sam alongside it. Don't worry no one will hear any of your thoughts from me. If I could switch it off I would." I said softly looking at my sister in law.
"Sam and I were high school sweethearts, one day Emily came along and he imprinted on her, it's not so much being in the same pack as him more we are all telepathically linked every thought he has of her I can hear. I thought being s wild had ruined any chance of my having a family. But now I see Bella and I have hope." Leah explained looking down.
"You can ask any questions about what she's feeling so far if you'd like. I know that your skin temperature is hotter than the humans." I said quietly holding Bella close as she moved in her sleep.
"I can see the change in her skin tone, she's definitely more like mine. Once she's had the baby her body will start to ache everywhere, it'll feel like her bones are stretching. Given your skin temperature is cool it would help with that." Leah explained.
"Her body temperature is running hotter than it was, her hair has gotten darker it's more ebony than brunette now. There hasn't been any sign of aches yet however that may happen after her pregnancy as you suggested.
"I had noticed that her hair was darker. I know Dad wants to be the one to tell Charlie. Though with everything that's been going on it might be best if he does know sooner." Leah stopped biting her lip.
"What does that mean?" I asked quietly.
"Just after Bella was picked up by your sisters I caught the scent of a vampire, automatically assuming it was one of you i phased and followed it, there was a red headed one. Red eyes. I know she was going to be dangerous." Leah explained and my expression changed holding my wife closer.
"Her name is Victoria, she and her mate tricked Bella into leaving the safety of Alice and Jasper last spring, after James had them split up he lured Bella to an old ballet studio where he tried to kill her. She's under the impression that I destroyed her mate, however at the time I was sucking the venom out of Bella's arm. Alice was the one to pull his head off." I explained seeing the look of disgust on Leah's face. "Sorry."
"I told Jacob he was wrong about you. But instead of being the friend that Bella needed, he broke her trust. I'm glad that he will be locked up. When Dad found out what he had done he was livid I've never seen him so angry." Leah looked at her sister "Would you still go to school at the high school off the Rez?"
"I'd have to ask Bella, I know many have been I uncomfortable with us around. But I couldn't go to school without her by my side. Not after the last four months apart." I explained seeing Leah nod.
"I'll sleep on the couch for the night, I want to be there when she wakes up. Charlie should be here by morning. Annual fishing expedition." Leah said softly standing up from the chair by the bed.
"Thank you for coming back with us. I know everyone has has a lot to process the last few hours. Hopefully now we can start to heal." I said softly watching as Leah stopped at the door.
"You're welcome. See you in the morning." Leah said softly before making her way into the living room to get some sleep.
Once it was just the two of us once more, leaning over I kissed my wife gently on the forehead before pulling the covers over us properly. Settling down to rest, even though I didn't need to sleep the days proceedings had been exhausting. Laying my hand against the small swell of her stomach I hoped Charlie wold listen before he started throwing insults. However if he did I knew it was just because he loved Bella.
For the first time in four months I managed to sleep through the night without any nightmares, opening my eyes to my new surroundings the memories of the previous night returned, Jacob and Billy had been found guilty by the pack and the remaining Elder. Not only that but thee was a way that he could be locked up. Resting my hand against my belly I rubbed it gently noticing I had well and truly popped, I'd entered the second trimester during our journey home and thankfully the nausea had faded into the background. Hopefully that meant that I'd seethe back of it, however I knew that it would likely be replaced by another horrendous symptom.
Opening my eyes, I shifted slightly getting comfortable as I rested my head back against my husband's chest. Focusing in the living room I could hear Leah and our father talking quietly. That's when I remembered today was the day I'd have to give Charlie the news that he was not biologically my father. He had raised me, I didn't want him to think that I was replacing him. Turning to face my husband I smiled softly as he kissed my forehead gently.
"Charlie loves you, he won't leave." Edward said softly trying to reassure me.
"He's always had Jacob on a pedestal the fact that he did this and his friend didn't stop him." I sighed softly.
"He's making his way through the reservation now, his thoughts are scrambled, it's like he's attempting to keep me out. I am curious to know who his lady friend is." My husband said softly kissing me gently. "How are you feeling?"
"I don't feel sick anymore, though I'm sure there will be new symptoms to replace it." I said honestly shifting. "How long do we have until Charlie is here?"
"Sam is busy keeping him occupied until we get ourselves ready. Thankfully everyone knows that Charlie loves to fish, though he is wondering where Billy is." My husband said softly kissing my goth ear as he helped me out of bed. "I'm glad you're feeling better."
Heading into our new walk in closet, wondering just how they'd managed to fit one into the bedroom, though knowing Emily had helped with the details and lived in one of these houses I knew she must have known the measurements. Wrinkling my nose I looked over the majority of the clothes knowing they wouldn't fit. Despite how much Alice may want me to, there was no way I was forcing my bump into some of those pants. What happened to my yoga pants? They were actually comfortable.
Turning away from my side of the closet I looked through Edward's clothes grabbing a comfortable pair of sweat pants and his underwear. That's the one thing that I still needed to do. I flushed with embarrassment at that thought. Before I could think too much on it I felt cool warms wrapping around my waist as I leaned against Edward's chest.
"My sister is going to hear about this. She can't just take your clothes. I asked Rosalie to get you some maternity underwear, though if you wish to wear mine that's okay too." Edward said softly his eyes were a shade darker.
"I think these will be comfortable today. But I will need the bras." I agreed softly pulling out the maternity bra, and a t shirt. Thankfully Alice hadn't gotten rid of those otherwise I would have something to say. Leaning against Edward's shoulder I sighed softly. "I might not feel sick anymore but my stomach now feels gassy." I said quietly stripping out of my pyjamas and getting dressed.
"Carlisle says that is normal, he also says that we will be able to find out the gender next month. Leah asked me something last night, but I didn't know whether you wanted to leave Forks High and start again on the Rez." Edward gave me his crooked smile before leaning down to kiss me.
"As much as I want to I don't want to give those that abandoned me when you were gone to win. I mean Jessica and Lauren have made my life hell the last few months, but Angela has been there for me. So was Ben." I said softly moving into our bathroom to brush my teeth before preparing to face the music. Or rather Charlie. Grabbing the evidence bags I knew this would be possibly the hardest part. "I'm ready."
"Let's head into the living room. Your father, Seth and Leah are here. Charlie is about to walk through the door." Edward kept his arm around me as we left the bathroom, making our way into the living room, I had noticed that off to one side was another room, which would become the nursery.
"He's going to be so upset." I said quietly, waiting until my husband had sat down before sitting on his lap.
"Remember he loves you." Edward whispered just as Charlie and a strawberry blonde walked through the door.
The breath I had been holding, released as I looked up at Charlie, seeing the confusion in his eyes. Clearly he had a ton of questions but didn't know where to start, he was very much like me in that department. We had never had an emotional conversation before. Leaning against Edward's shoulder I cringed wondering what he was thinking but not feeling confident enough ask. I did however see the look of shock on Edward's face as he took in Charlie's new love.
My eyes widened as I remembered a conversation I'd had with my husband about the Denali family, from his description this was definitely one of them, the golden eyes gave it away. A million and one thoughts were running through my head as I wondered how the hell Charlie had become the mate of The Cullens extended family. Before I could ask I heard Charlie speak.
"Bells what's going on?" Charlie asked. "Oh this is Tanya. What s he doing here?"
"Edward is my soulmate in more ways than one. He's here to stay if you can't handle that you can leave, as much as it would hurt me." I said quietly rubbing my gassy stomach grimacing.
"I know that there is a lot to discuss, but I love my wife. I've only ever wanted what's best for her." Edward tried to reassure Charlie.
"You're one of them?" Charlie asked looking at Tanya with the same look as I gave Edward.
"Hell no. Anyone but her." I said quietly sighing. "Sit down, we'll talk about her later."
"Why is Harry here?" Charlie asked.
I handed Charlie my mothers family tree closing my eyes as I couldn't face seeing the hurt on his face. "I'm biologically a Clearwater and if you are mated to a vampire that means you know about the shifters. I'm one of the shifters and Edward is a vampire like her. He left to protect me."
"He left you pregnant!" Charlie yelled looking at my baby bump. "Why are you upset with me about Tanya? How… …oh Bells your still my baby girl."
"Edward isn't this baby's father that would be Jacob. No it was no consensual, he forced himself on me as Billy wheeled himself away." I said softly my voice breaking as I sunk into Edward's arms once more watching as Edward handed Charlie the evidence bag.
"Bella took all the necessary precautions after the rape happened, I didn't want her to become a vampire; if I had known what that mutt did sooner I would have been home like a shot. Thankfully my sisters collected Bella from the main house and brought her to us. This baby may not be mine biologically but he or she is part of my wife, my very soul. I'm nothing without her."
"He did what? Where is he? He better not still be here?" Charlie fumed taking in the information he had been given, taking my clothes that I had been wearing that night alongside the swabs. "A shifter, is that what the gang is?"
"Mm, we are created to hunt down the vampires with red eyes." Leah explained. "I know this is a lot to take in, but Bella still wants you in her life, but she also wants to know us. She's already helped me so much, given me hope that I will be able to carry my own children."
"I could never hurt Bells. I understand her wanting to know her family." Charlie said looking at me. "Can Jacob be arrested and locked up?"
"He's been given a concoction to destroy the wolf inside him, then he's all yours. As for Tanya I think she knows why it will take me time to trust her. Given she has tried to be with Edward before I could get to know him properly. That being said I'll give her a chance. But will you become a vampire?" I asked rubbing my temples as a headache started.
"We have discussed everything, including her past attempts to win Edward over. I'd like to become a vampire. I'll get a warrant as soon as Sam great news that he's been turned back into the kid he used to be." Charlie slumped in his chair. "I got Edward all wrong."
"We all have Charlie. For that I apologise, Carlisle has started me on medication to help with an undiagnosed heart issue. Before you panic Bella, I'll be okay after a few months I can come off the medication. I caught it in time." Harry said softly reassuring both myself and Charlie.
"Carlisle has been wanting to help people on the reservation for a while. He just didn't know how to." My husband said softly wrapping his arms around my gassy belly running it gently. "I don't want Bella to lose either of you."
"She won't." Harry said softly holding out his hand to Charlie. "We can work together to accommodate your change. Like I said to the Cullens last night I would have allowed Bella to be changed if it had been necessary."
"Thank you." I said softly looking at Tanya. "We have a lot to discuss now isn't the time. But I am going to need more than he's my mate from you to accept it." Is she telling the truth?
"Yes, love. He is her mate. She won't be attempting anything else." Edward said softly.
"How did you do that? She didn't ask that.." Charlie looked away from Harry to my husband.
"I can read minds. Until recently Bella's was the only one I couldn't." My husband answered.
I sighed softly leaning against my husband knowing that I was going to have to accept Tanya into my life, I supposed I couldn't really judge her finding a human for her mate given I was married to a vampire. However of all the Denali's why did it have to be the woman who had repeatedly attempted to steal Edward's heart. It was way to early to be talking about this. I would accept her but I would be watching her closely. Shifting slightly I tried to get comfortable leaning my head back against his chest.y
With my family talking around me, my mind began to wander, if Tanya and Charlie were mated, eventually he would need to quit his job as the police chief. Why had it taken Victoria until now to suddenly decide to attack. I knew from our wedding that Laurent had been to Denali but he hadn't stayed long, though Irina had mated with him. NO!
"Bella what is it? What did you think of?" Edward asked running my back soothingly.
"Victoria isn't just trying to find out whether we are still together, she's got information about the shifters, she's making snap decisions that Alice wouldn't be able to pick up on." My voice shook as I looked at Tanya. "Did Laurent ask about Alice and Edward's abilities?"
"Irina told him everything, we warned her not to. Why?" Tanya asked holding Charlie closer to her.
"Victoria isn't just trying to find out where we are. She's trying to split us up enough to kill Edward. Or me. Last spring her mate began hunting me, I slipped away from Alice and Jasper when he lured me to the local ballet studio with the sound of Renee being held captive. Edward sucked the venom out of my arm as Alice pulled his head off. She thinks Edward killed him. Laurent has told her everything."
"I'll go tell Sam what happened. Will you be okay?" Leah asked.
"I'll be okay I promise, thank you." I said softly rubbing my belly gently watching Leah leave.
"Has he been coming and going a lot?" I asked as Edward began texting the rest of our family frantically.
"Yes, if he was truly her mate he would not be doing this. He knows you are Edward's mate." Tanya said quietly. "I'm sorry for everything I've done in the past Bella, but I see now that I could never have been happy with Edward not him with me. You are his life."
"Thank you." I said quietly. "I don't want to spend my life hiding in corners from her. Would the rest of the family be willing to help us. I know we have the shifters but it would add to our advantage?
"I will call Carmen and see what she says. Irina may be difficult. Kate will come." Tanya agreed looking at the panic in Charlie and Edward's eyes.
"What did Carlisle say?" I asked not sure I was ready for the answer.
"He wants to take it in turns patrolling the border between the main house and our house here. As far as I'm aware Laurent doesn't know that Bella is one of the shifters, it will be something that works in our favour. Bella still wants to go to Forks High after the Christmas holidays." Edward said softly pulling me closer.
"Charlie please go and take that evidence to the station, take Tanya with you. She can protect you as best as she can. Dad can you write up another agreement with the pack to accommodate Charlie's change as you can see by her eyes she also drinks animal blood." I saw the nod from Charlie as he and Tanya prepared to leave. "I love both of you I don't want anyone to feel like they are being replaced."
"I don't feel that way Bells, you will always be my daughter, this way you get to stay in my life and you get Harry too. I love you." Charlie said softly bringing tears to my eyes.
"I love you too Charlie." I said softly feeling tears in my eyes. "Sorry."
"You have nothing to apologise for. You've been through a lot in the last four months, I'm sorry I judged Edward so harshly, it seems that I got Jacob all wrong. As for Billy if he wasn't in that chair I'd lock him up too. Is there anything that can be done." Charlie asked.
"Get a restraining order out on him for me. I don't want him near me nor the baby." I asked rubbing my gassy belly grimacing.
"I can do that." Charlie said as he and Tanya left the house quickly. That had definitely gone better than I expected it to.
"Are you okay, love?" Edward asked me.
"My belly is gassy it's making me a little queasy." I admitted softly.
"I'm sorry, love. I wish I could take it from you." My husband whispered softly kissing my forehead.
"I'll go and write up that agreement, Sam shouldn't have too much to say. In fact I don't think it would surprise him. Come on Seth, we can come back and see your sister later, for now she needs to rest." Harry said softly as Seth got to his feet. "No one is going to hurt you on our watch Bells."
"Thanks Dad, Seth." I whispered softly.
"Victoria won't hurt you." Seth agreed with his father. "See you later."
With that statement Seth headed in the same direction as Leah. I knew by now Sam must know. I only hoped he would continue to trust my judgement, after all last spring had been hell. Between confusing Victoria then stupidly running from James. If I had just stayed with Alice and Jasper none of this would be happening. Then again maybe we would still be running because James was determined to kill me. Instinctively I moved closer to my husband feeling his arms against my baby bump. We had more than just us to protect now.
Turning to face Edward I knew I was about to ask him to do something that would be a struggle, as much as I trusted both sides of our family to protect us, and bring Victoria down, I didn't want to be away from him, not now. At least we had one thing working on our side, she wouldn't be expecting us to have the support of the shifters enough to have access to LaPush. She was clearly hiding in the shadows. My eyes widened looking at my husband.
"Laurent wasn't at our wedding, he is still under the illusion that you left me, he's going to be waiting in the one place that he will expect me to go. Our meadow. But I don't want to do anything rash until Tanya has spoken to Carmen. I don't want Irina to lose her mate if he's been lied to. I know that's a long shot but…"
"I had the same thought, it appears that Laurent was extremely good at hiding his true alliances. He didn't seem to have any interest in James or Victoria last spring." My husband said softly tilting his head. "There's something else?"
"I don't want yo to fight. I've only just gotten you back, I can't… …we can't lose you." I said softly tears threatening to fall.
"I'll stay behind. I wouldn't leave your side." My husband said softly bringing me closer to him as I took small breaths out.
"I don't want her to dictate where we go. Especially now we have so much freedom." I said softly.
"Well the plan was to go and see Sam and Emily and introduce you to everyone officially. I don't see why we wouldn't be safe around them. But first we have to talk about Tanya. I know why you are upset and you have every right to. But I can assure you nothing happened. Not even when I ran to Denali the first time I met you. Even then I couldn't get you out of my head no matter how hard I tried." Edward reassured me.
"In theory I understand that, but my pregnancy hormones combined with the need to protect you, make her see your mine." I said softly. "Let's stop off at Sam and Emily's and then we can go to the big house. Unless you want to bring them down here I have a bone to pick with Alice."
"I think they'd like to see you. Alice might not be able to see you but she will be able to see me." Edward said softly. "Let me call her."
I nodded softly pulling out a box of cereal making my breakfast, sitting at the dining room table, I still couldn't believe that Charlie had taken the news so well, I hadn't expected things to turn out this way. Everything had flipped on it's head where I was the one staying partly human and he was going to be the vampire. Once I'd finished eating I pushed the bowl to one side looking toward the living room seeing Edward on the phone. I couldn't hear what was being said on the other side but he looked frustrated.
Getting to my feet I placed the bowl into the sink to wash later, making my way across the room I instinctively wrapped my arms around my husband's waist I rested my head against his shoulder giving him the support he had always given me. I knew first hand how frustrating Alice could be but she also reunited me with my soulmate. I could feel the tension in his body ease the moment my around were around his waist. Before I could start to panic he set the cell to one side bringing me closer to him.
"What did Alice say to get that reaction?" I asked tilting my head.
"She needs to realise that she can't dictate what people wear. Especially when you're pregnant, she's gone in a huff with me because Esme told her to return your yoga pants." Edward said softly turning me so we see facing each other.
"We need to go there before we go to the meeting with Sam, I'm nervous about returning to school though I also want to graduate. They're going to be vultures and I know that Mike is going to try and touch me." I said softly.
"Perhaps we could transfer out work to study from home and Alice and Jasper can take it in until you're ready? I don't want you to be more uncomfortable than you already are." Edward said softly holding me in his arms.
"What if I'm never ready. I don't feel like I fit in at school anymore, other than Angela, everyone hates me. Only Ali and Jasper are left in school. I understand the need for blending in though." I said quietly biting my lip suddenly finding myself in Edward's arms.
"We are going to Carlisle, there has to be a way to get your diploma without forcing you back to school. It's not like I need another one. Perhaps we could start college researching early." Edward helped me into the drivers side of my car. This was a big step I knew how much he hated to be the passenger.
"Call Sam let him know we are going to be late." I said softly starting the car as Edward got into the passenger side begging the journey toward Forks.
Pulling his cell out of his pocket Edward did as I asked. I couldn't believe how much had changed in such a short space of time, however I knew that as long as we were together I could get through anything. Telling Charlie about our marriage was one thing, however after my recent parentage discovery I didn't want to speak to Renee and I wasn't sure I ever would again. Sighing softly I rested my hand against my growing baby bump, making my way through Forks passing the station and Charlie's along the way.
If someone had told me a year and a half ago this was the route my life would have taken I would never have believed it. However I wouldn't change a single moment. Finding Edward had been more than I ever dreamed of, even through our separation I prayed we would find our way back to each other. My thoughts were broken by my husband's voice.
"Hello Sam, it's Edward we're going to talk to my family before attending the meeting. Bella asked me to call you." Edward said softly looking content as I drove. I don't think I'd ever seen him be the passenger before. Just the once when I still drove the truck.
"That's okay, we figure you would have things to discuss, we won't start the netting until you're back." Sam said quietly. "Is there anything we can help with."
"Actually Bella isn't sure she wants to return to Forks High, if she doesn't I won't be either. We have a few options, however attending school on the reservation has been put on the table. I know it's been unheard of a cold one on the reservation. Let alone at school." Edward said quietly looking at me as I pulled into the driveway of The Cullens house.
"There may be something I can do. You have your qualifications already, all you need is someone to hand in the remainder of Bella's coursework and she can graduate early. Do you think that could be done with the remainder of the holidays." Sam asked.
Edward turned to look at me as I nodded softly. "I can do that. I'm pretty sure you can help me get everything in order." I said softly. "We're here."
"We will see you soon. Thank you." Edward said softly.
"You're welcome." Sam said quietly before hanging up.
Pulling up outside the house I unbuckled my seatbelt, smiling softly as Edward rushed around the car opening my door, some things never change and I wouldn't want them to. Despite my previous fears I knew that Edward did these things because it was the way he had been raised. My stunningly beautiful husband had been born in a time where men held doors open for their wives. Stepping out of the car I instantly made my way into my husband's arms looking at the big house. This house had always felt like home, even when I was hiding from Jacob before I had plucked up the courage to contact Alice and Rosalie.
Ever since I had discovered I could allow Edward into my thoughts I had kept the shield open. Despite having gotten used to being the only one he couldn't hear I knew that it frightened him when he first discovered he couldn't read it. Seeing the happiness on his face at his new ability to hear my inner thoughts made it worthwhile. However I knew my husband would try and not listen to my thoughts unless directed at him. Unlike Emmett who seemed to love to irritate him. Once I had given birth I would be stronger, able to beat him at an arm wrestle.
"I'd pay to see that, love." Edward whispered in my ear.
"It would be good to see him get beaten by a girl." I said softly leaning my head against his shoulder as we walked toward the house.
"How are you feeling?" Edward asked his voice filled with concern.
"Nauseous but I'm not sure if that's pregnancy related or nerves." I admitted quietly knowing that I couldn't hide from my husband.
"That's normal, hopefully within the next few weeks that should patter off completely." My husband said softly pushing the door open and leading me into the house.
By the time we had entered the living room, Alice had somehow managed to get all of the furniture back in place. It was nice that ad another place to lay our heads when it's got too late to return home. The moment Edward had brought me to meet his family their house had felt like home to me, it still did, though it was nice to know we had a house to escape to should Alice become too much. Sighing softly I moved closer to Edward as I took in our family, each of them standing in couples once again. Rosalie and Emmett were once again on the stairs, Alice and Jasper were steamed on one of the couches and Carlisle and Esme were next to Edward's piano.
Resting my head against Edward's shoulder I tried to keep myself focused on anything other than the nauseous rolling of my belly. Suddenly I was thankful we had out own hideaway, though I didn't want my husband to lose all contact with his family. Perhaps there was a way that we could delegate out time between both houses. My thoughts were broken by Carlisle speaking.
"It's good to see you are both settled at the reservation. Though I must admit it's an adjustment." Carlisle said softly. "What has you looking so concerned."
"Bella and I were discussing school options, whether to attend school on the reservation or stay at Forks High, we had settled on returning to Forks High, then she roughy up the possibility of Mike Newton trying to touch her, it wouldn't be the first time he's been over friendly." Edward started, squeezing my hand in reassurance.
"Whilst you were gone, everyone other than Angela and Ben turned their back on me, they left me alone at the table you used to sit at. I don't know what would have happened if I hadn't called. But I know living without Edward is not something I ever want to go through again. I'm not sure I'm comfortable returning." I said softly.
"Mm I hadn't considered that, you could defer your graduation, or continue from home. Did you have any ideas?" Carlisle asked as Esme came to our side.
"Actually Sam did, if we can do the work before the Christmas holidays are over we can graduate early. I did wonder about using old material. Bella is more advanced than everyone else, our first biology lesson she'd already done the material in Phoenix. As her next of kin I could sign us both out. But I wanted to ask your thoughts first." Edward said softly.
"I've also wondered whether it's possible to split our time between here and the reservation. I don't want anyone to feel I'm taking Edward away." I said softly pushing my face into Edward's neck as the nauseous feeling continued.
"They're all valid points, perhaps I can say that during our time in Chicago both of you got your diplomas, then both of you will be able to start college. We've always got back ups should anything crop up. Jasper please contact Jenks and get two diplomas created for graduation of Young Magnet High School." Carlisle said as our brother nodded softly beginning his call.
"You always have a room here sweetheart." Esme said softly.
"Thank you." I said softly rubbing my belly gently. "I believe Alice has some of my clothes to return. I'm four months pregnant, nauseous and tired, the last thing I needed this morning was to discover all of my comfortable yoga pants had been taken." I folded my arms across my chest giving my sister and best friend my best glare.
"So that's why Edward sounded so angry? Alice Whitlock you should know better." Esme fumed approaching Alice with a look I'd never seen before. "Upstairs and give Bella her comfortable clothing back. Or it will be you who sleeps outside. In the cottage."
I made a mental note never to disappoint Esme enough for her to yell at me. But this time I had to say that she had earned it. With her vampire speed it didn't take long for the pixie to return with my t shirts and yoga pants carefully folded and placed in my backpack. I hated fighting with Alice but sometimes she really needed to think before she acted. Then again if she actually did think about her decisions Edward would be able to see what she had planned.
Sighing softly I felt Edward's hands against the small of my back, rubbing it gently. The tension that had been slowly creeping up on me since we entered the house. I didn't want to fight with any of my family members, especially after Alice had helped me get back to Edward. Before anything else could be said Jasper returned from the garden where he had been taking to Jenks. I prayed he had been successful because I did not want to return to Forks High where Jessica could disrespect my pregnancy and my marriage and where every male in the Forks population seemed to think that I was fair game.
"Jenks will have them ready within the hour. I can go and pick them up." Jasper revealed giving my shoulder a squeeze.
"Thank god." I said softly.
"You're welcome little sister." Jasper said quietly looking toward Edward. "Are you sure attending the meeting with the shifters is a good idea. If the waves of nausea I'm feeling off her are anything to go by."
"I had noticed, perhaps we could hold the meeting here. If that's okay with you?" Edward said softly looking at his father.
"That would be okay with me, Victoria is a problem for both sides. But first get Bella upstairs, I'll contact Sam." Carlisle agreed
Before I could protest I was already in my husband's arms, too nauseous to complain as Edward wrote down Sam's phone number. Burying my head into Edward's shoulder I took small breaths out. I knew that the majority of our clothes were still here, either that or Alice had already bought more. Sighing softly I looked at Rosalie. "There are comfortable clothes in there right? Otherwise I'm wearing Edward's."
"I made sure that there were. But wear whatever you feel comfortable in. I'm sure your husband will love it." Rose teased me.
Chuckling softly I nodded knowing that I had already decided to wear Edward's clothes, they were more comfortable than my own. We could go shopping for new underwear later. Once we were inside our bedroom, my husband helped me undress and get into some of his pyjamas and a vest top getting rid of the bra completely. Being back in Forks had been a decision I didn't want to make. However now we had the upper hand with Victoria. She wouldn't suspect another shifter or that the shifters would soon have every detail of why she was so adamant to kill me. My life may have changed, but with Edward by my side I knew that I could survive anything. The moment Edward lay us against the bed I began to drift off wondering just how the next meeting would go. The secret was going to be revealed alongside the information about James, Laurent and Victoria. It was going to be a long day.
